Washington Huskies Men's Basketball Schedule

This week the schedule came out for the Washington
Huskies men's basketball team for the upcoming season.

The schedule right now only shows who they will be
playing in the Pac-12. The original non-league schedule
was cancelled because of Covid-12.

The Pac-12 schedule usually starts at the beginning of
the year. They have had 18 games on the schedule, however,
now have increased to 20. This allows them the opportunity
to play most of the teams in the league twice once at home
and once on the road.

I thought the schedule would begin as usual at the beginning
of the year, however, the Huskies will begin the schedule
on December 3 at Utah followed by Oregon on December 12
at home. They look to be the two additional games. The rest
of the schedule shows who they play and what week but not
the exact date. This will be determined by the television
schedule since all the games will be on television.

The rest of the schedule will begin on the week of December
30 thru January 3 when they take on Arizona and Arizona State
at home. The following two weeks they will be on the road
playing the California Golden Bears and Stanford Cardinal
in the bay area followed by UCLA and USC.

The two teams they will not play twice on the season will
be Colorado who partners on each week's schedule with Utah
and Oregon State partners with Oregon.

Since there will be a gap after the Oregon game in December
the likelihood is the Huskies will have  non-league games.
There is an indication they will play Portland State, Fullerton,
and Seattle University at home along with a unknown team
at this time. The dates haven't been determined as of yet.

So it looks like Huskies men's schedule will be 24 games on
the season. Whether there will be any fans in the stands will
be determined where covid-19 is at the time and what each
state has determined. Right now at home the Huskies will
probably play without fans or a very few.

Like all the other sports and our lives right now it will be
different for sure.

Seahawk Pick Up Defensive End

Wednesday it didn't take the Seahawks long to
make a trade by picking up defensive end Carlos
Dunlap.

The Seahawks made the trade with the Cincinnati
Bengals where Dunlap has played since 2010
when he was drafted in the second round.

The Seahawks defense had needed help with
the pass rush even before the season started.
They have the last place team on defense.
The Seahawks may need to make another
trade as well on the defensive side.

It is hard to tell what other position on defense
needs help but no doubt they do. The most
likely spot would be at the cornerback spot with
Shaquill Griffin out right now.

Having another cornerback who can start would be
good for sure. The Seahawks have been giving up a
lot of yardage in the passing game. The main
problem is rushing the quarterback but it isn't
the only thing.

We will have to see how Dunlap will do to help
out the defensive end position, however, in my
opinion  they need to blitz the quarterback a bit
more often whether it is from the safety or
linebacker positions on occasion.

We see whether they can make another trade
before this weekend.

Seahawk Wednesday

Here we go now the Seahawks have one loss under their
belt after winning their first five games see if they can
rebound against the San Francisco 49ers this weekend.

Reported in Tuesday's News Tribune linebacker Bobby
Wagner stated the Seahawks defense needs to put up or
shut up. It sounds about right to me.

The Seahawks are now rated the last team in the NFL
when it comes to giving up yards. So it is time for them
to get their heads screwed on right.

The Seahawks again didn't have a sack in the game so
time to go out and get a pass rusher. I think sacks are
overrated in a way but they do need to put pressure on
the quarterback which they have done little as well.

Russell Wilson had an off-day against the Arizona
Cardinals last Sunday throwing three interceptions.
I expect he will be back into good form this Sunday.

The Seahawks should have won the game easily against
the Cardinals but you have to give Arizona credit for
never giving up.

No news yet whether Jamal Adams will be back this
Sunday or not. It is obvious the Seahawks are missing
his presence  The trading deadline is coming up so the
Seahawks need to see what they can get out on the
market. I am sure we will have news before next
Wednesday or this Sunday's game. Go Hawks!

Seahawks No Longer Perfect Record

I guess it would only happen in Arizona but the Seahawks
perfect season over losing 37-34 in overtime to the Cardinals.

The Seahawks should have won the game easily but too
many mistakes cost  them the game.

The most exciting play of the game former Washington
Husky safety Budda Baker intercepted a Russell Wilson
pass. It looked like he would score easily for 98 yards,
however, wide receiver DK Metcalf sprinted down to
catch Baker at the 8 yard line. The Seahawks defense
were able to stop the Cardinals from scoring on the
drive.

The Seahawks had a ten point lead in the second half
of the fourth quarter but were not able to  put the
Cardinals away.

Tyler Lockett had a big game catching 15 passes for
200 yards and three touchdowns. Those were the three
touchdowns Russell Wilson threw on the day. Unfortunately
he threw three interceptions as well.

I am sure many fans blame Wilson for the loss however the
defense can take enough blame of their own since they
couldn't stop the Cardinals as well.

Carlos Hyde was the Seahawks primary rusher as Chris
Carson had to leave early because of injury. Hyde carried
the ball 15 times for 68 yards with a touchdown Russell
Wilson though led the Seahawks in rushing yards at 84.

The Seahawks now will come home to play the San
Francisco 49ers who beat the New England Patriots
on the road 33-6 next Sunday. We hope the Seahawks
can bounce back to win. Go Hawks!

More About Seahawks and Other Things

It was announced on Thursday the Seahawks game
against the Cardinals in Arizona has been moved to
Sunday night. The reason the Las Vegas Raiders has
a player who has Covid-19 so the NFL decided to
postponed the game between the Raiders and Tampa
Bay.

The Seattle Seahawks always seem to do well on
prime time so I expect another exciting game to take
place.

This week the Seahawks brought back former starter
linebacker Mychal Kendricks. He was put on the
practice squad. Not sure when he will be pressed into
action for the Seahawks.

There is still no news whether safety Jamal Adams
will play against the Cardinals. I am sure it will be
game day decision.

In other local sports, the Seattle Mariners made moves
to their 40-man roster. Three relievers who spent time
on the injured list this last season were optioned to the
minor leagues. All three declined and became free agents.
They are Nestor Cortes, Carl Edwards Jr. and Matt
Magill. I am surprised by all three being optioned.
They are currently at 33 on the 40-man roster. We
know general manager Jerry Dipoto isn't through.
There will be players to add and probably more to
take off.

This again will be an interesting off-season. We have
to see whether they make a big time trade, and sign
some free agents.

Seahawk Wednesday

Here we go to get ready for another Seahawk game. I find it
always unusual after having a bye week.

Pete Carroll in his latest press conference didn't come right
and say it but hoping Jamal Adams will be ready to go this
Sunday against the Arizona Cardinals. We are other players
who were hurt or coming back from injuries are all set to go
as well.

I am sure Russell Wilson is all set to go. He would probably
like playing the game today. Not only are the Seahawks
wanting to go 6-0 after Sunday's game but to stay healthy
and not have any other injuries.

The Seahawks have several players trying to make themselves
back to playing this season One is rookie tight end Colby
Parkinson who has been out all season so far. He will be
practicing. Not sure when he will be active but has three
weeks to be in football shape.

The World Series Coming Up

Here we are again as Seattle Mariner fans where
we look another year at the World Series without
our favorite team in it.

There are always players who are formerly on
the Mariner team we can root for. This time we
have catcher Mike Zunino. I read where a few
fans say "why did we get rid of Zunino". The
truth is he only hit .143 for the season. He did
end up having a pretty good playoff run though.
We never know something like it would happen
with the Mariners or not. So I know some will
be rooting for Tampa Bay.

On the other side we have the Los Angeles Dodgers
winning the National League Championship series.
Interesting both series went seven game. We will
see if the same goes for the World Series.

There will be Mariner fans rooting for the Dodgers
since Chris Taylor another former Mariner on their
team or for Kyle Seager's younger brother Corey.

Whoever you are rooting for have yourself a good
World Series time. Who knows maybe next year
will be it for the Mariners. At least the Mariners
are inching their  way there with the talent they
have over what they have had for many years.
Now the Mariners need to get some good relief
pitching.  Go M's.

Washington Huskies Basketball

The big two news stories coming out on Thursday
about the Washington Huskies Men's basketball
program was they won't be playing the Gonzaga
Bulldogs this season.

Originally scheduled for December the Huskies
schedule won't begin until January which means
all conference games for the most part. The
Bulldogs were not able to squeeze in the Huskies
on their schedule. The two teams still could meet
in the NCAA tournament in March.

Nahziah Carter senior guard/forward was suspended
from the Huskies program for disciplinary reasons.
Carter will not be able to participate in any team
activities.

According to the press release by the Huskies
Carter violated the Intercollegiate Athletes code
of conduct, Nothing else was indicated and how
long he will be out for.

Carter was expected to be the face of this year's
team. Last year Quade Green was suspended
in January for academic reasons. The Huskies
didn't do well after his suspension. In fact,
they ended in dead last in the conference.
Now we wonder what affect Carter's loss
will be. Hopefully, he won't be lost for the
season.

The question now who will take his spot in
the starting rotation. J'Raan Brooks from
Garfield High School and a transfer from
USC who sat out last year could be the guy.
He was already competing for a spot in the
starting lineup at the forward spot.

Another candidate would be Erik Stevenson
a transfer this year from Wichita State. There
was though he would have had to sit out a
year but they have changed the rules in regards
to transfer. No longer have to sit out a year
if transferred once. If a player transfers a
second time he will have to sit out.

Stevenson is another local player coming
from Lacey Washington. He is listed as
as guard so he may fit better in Carter's
spot.

This year's schedule hasn't come out yet.
It should sometime this month though.
I am sure we will have a better idea what
the starting lineup will be as practice is
going on and toward the beginning of the
season. Go Dawgs!

Seahawk Wednesday

This week the Seahawk players have a week off
because of the bye. The team's next game will
be in Arizona against the Cardinals on October 25.

Most years the players go to different places with
this time off but as we all know this isn't any year.

The Seahawk players for the most part are staying
put in Seattle. We hope none of will do anything
to jeopardize their season by getting the virus.

Players like Jamal Adams who has missed three
games because of injury will be resting along with
exercise to be ready to go on October 25.

I am hoping the defensive players will be thinking
what they must do to improve their play. Only
thing positive is  they have made a couple outstanding
plays at end of games but should never been put into
the situation in the first place.

I am sure I will be thinking of something before the
next game unless the Seahawks do it for me that is.

Damon "Snacks" Harrison the Seahawks recently
signed to the practice  should make his first appearance
against the Cardinals. The Seahawks are hoping he
will make the difference on the team's defensive line.
Against the Minnesota Vikings the Seahawks showed
they do need help against the run well as the pass.

The Seahawks continue to show the offense can lead
them to the playoffs but the defense need to help them
out to make it as far as they can in the playoffs. Go Hawks!

Seahawks Make It 5-0

For most of Sunday night there was doubt
the Seattle Seahawks would win their fifth
straight game to open up the 2020 season.

The Minnesota Vikings took the first drive
of the game for a touchdown taking over
eight minutes off the clock. Much of it was
by running the ball against the Seahawks.
Dalvin Cook scored the touchdown for the
Vikings. He had a good night running the
ball when he was hurt.

The Seahawks were not able to get a drive
going in their first opportunity to have the
ball so had to give it right back to the Vikings.

The Vikings ended up kicking two field goals
in the second quarter making the score 13-0
at half time. The question was how can the
Seahawks get back into the game in the second
half.

We know the history of the Seahawks, since
Russell Wilson has been the quarterback they
often are a second half team. Thought they have
gotten off to good starts in their previous four
games. Well it turned out that way.

The Seahawks were able to score three touchdowns
in the third quarter. Tight end Will Dissly scored
the first touchdown followed by DK Metcalf.
KJ Wright immediately intercepted a pass followed
by a long run of 29 yards by Chris Carson making
it 21-13.

The Seahawks defense for the most part couldn't
stop the Vikings on the day. The Vikings were able
to score twice two touchdowns to Adam Thielen
to take the lead 26-21.

The Vikings had 83 plays on the night compared
to 52 for the Seahawks. They had the ball almost
twice as long to. The Vikings had it just under 40
minutes while the Seahawks just over 20.

The Vikings went for a first down on their last
possession of the game under two minutes with
less than a yard to go. Had they kicked a field
goal the Vikings would have won the game. It
was raining for most of the night so a wet field
was behind their decision to go for it.

The Seahawks though they were not able to stop
the Vikings for most of the night were able to and
the ball turned back over to them to make one final
attempt to win the  game which they did.

DK Metcalf made a couple important catches including
the winning touchdown on the last play of the game.
He had a drop pass as well in the last series. The officials
had to do a replay to be sure it wasn't caught. The last
play of the game on fourth down Russell Wilson was
able to find Metcalf in the end zone once again  The
time run out on the clock. Seahawks 27 Vikings 26.

The LA Rams are still in the hunt as they beat Washington
30-10. The feel good story of this game was the return
of quarterback Alex Smith after being out for over two
years.

A similar story to Smith's injury happened on the day
as well where Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott broke
his ankle. He could be out as long as Smith as well.

The Arizona Cardinals were able to come back to
beat the New York Jets at the same score as the
Rams victory after losing two straight games.

The San Francisco 49ers didn't have the same
luck as the Seahawks, Rams, or Cardinals. Having
injuries making hard for them to win they lost to
the Miami Dolphins 43-17.

The Seahawks now go for their bye week so several
players will be able to recoup from injuries. I will
update you on Wednesday.  The Seahawks take
on the Arizona Cardinals on the road on October
25 followed by a home game against the 49ers.

Seattle Seahawks Running Game

The Seattle Seahawks are the number two
offense in the NFL far as scoring points and
number three in yardage.

The Seahawks have scored more than 30
points in all four games. A pretty good
season since they usually get off to a slow
start since Pete Carroll has been head coach.

Since Russell Wilson is averaging over 300
yards passing per game with a 75% completion
rate where is the running game been?

Under Pete Carroll the philosophy has been to
run the ball first then pass. This year it looks
like the opposite but actually the Seahawks
have passed and run the ball about the same.
Russell Wilson has thrown 103 passes while
they have run the ball 102 times.

The Seahawks are averaging just over 100
yards a game, however, the win over the
New England Patriots they ran for 154 yards.
So in actuality they are running just under
hundred yards per game.

Chris Carson again in his fourth season with
the Seahawks is leading the team in rushing.
He is averaging just under 60 yards per game
at 4.4 yards per carry.  I would say not great
for your starting running back far as yards
per game.

The Seahawks will have to decide whether
they want to give Carson an extension. The
cost might be more than what the team will
want to pay. The issue isn't just the fact he
is only averaging just under 60 yards per
game it is his durability. The last couple of
years Carson has been hurt as well. He will
need to stay healthy and have his production
increase over the season.

The Seahawks have three other running backs
who can carry the ball as well. The thing is
Carson is carry the ball more often than the
other three combined. Also, Russell Wilson
is second on the team in rushing with 95 yards
averaging 5.3 per carry.

What has made Chris Carson valuable besides
running the ball is he had caught 15 passes
scoring three touchdowns. Only Tyler Lockett
and DK Metcalf have caught more passes than
Carson.

Whether Carson does return will largely depend
on his asking price on his next contract. Running
backs are not being paid as much either. He may
not get what he thinks on the open market either.

It will be good to have Carson return next year
but it will still be up to how much the going price
is and whether the Seahawks can and want to have
him fit under the salary cap.

They not only have the three running backs already
on the roster they are hoping to have Rashaad Penny
back by the opening of the second half of the season.
If he performs well along with the other guys the
decision maybe easier for the Seahawks too.

As long as Russell Wilson can throw the ball and the
Seahawks can score at least 30 points per game the
running game splitting evenly for the most part the
team will be good for it.

The Seahawks will play the Minnesota Vikings on
Sunday. They will see about going 5-0. Next week
will be a bye week.

During the week the Seahawks signed free agent
defensive tackle Damon "Snacks" Harrison to a
contract. Right now he is on the practice squad,
however, if Pete Carroll feels he is in shape enough
he could be activated this week, He will help the
team against the run which could help in rushing
the quarterback as well. What I mean by that if the
other team has to block Harrison fully than one
of the Seahawks defensive ends or someone from
the secondary could get to the quarterback easier.

The Seahawks this week did acquire a defensive
end from the Arizona Cardinals practice squad in
the name of Jonathan Bullard. The Seahawks are
hoping Bullard will improve rushing the quarterback.
We will see what happens against the Viking this
week in that regard.

So hopefully next time we will see the Seahawks
with their 5-0 record. Go Hawks!

Seahawk Wednesday

The Seahawks usually get off to a slow start
on the season but this year it is different. They
are 4-0.

The defense isn't up to par with the offense,
however, they are having growing pains with
some injuries happening.

Right now the Seahawks are short at defensive
back well as linebacker. Those who are playing
are doing a fine job.

KJ Wright had a good game, and getting a lot
of praise for it. With Bruce Irvin out for the season
Wright has switched to the strong side. Jordyn
Brooks and Cody Barton are at the weakside
linebacker spot.. Brooks making his first start
against the Cowboys missed last weeks game
because of injury. He might miss this coming
week game against Minnesota. The Seahawks
do have a bye week coming up so those like Brooks
and Jamal Adams who is expected to miss this
weeks game as well should be ready to go in two
weeks.

Ryan Neal playing a superb time in place of Jamal
Adams is showing he is a good backup to have
around.

In his press conference on Monday Pete Carroll
said the special teams are playing solid ball as
well. Another thing Coach Carroll was happy
about the Seahawks had no penalties on the day.
I wonder when the last time that happened.

Pete Carroll will have another press conference
on Wednesday. So anything changes I will update
you on Friday.

We won't to congratulate the Seattle Storm on
winning another WNBA championship. The
fourth time for this team. I know I don't  talk
much about them but like the Sounders they
are both franchises doing well for the city of
Seattle. Go Teams!

Monday Morning Sports

I am sure you are aware the Seattle Seahawks
won on Sunday 31-23 over the Miami Dolphins.
The offense continues to roll and the defense
played a bit better which is an accomplishment
since they have a lot of injuries in the secondary.

The Arizona Cardinals lost their second straight
game in a row after winning their first two games.
They lost to the Carolina Panthers on the road
31-21. The Seahawks go to Arizona on October
25 for their first meeting of the season. Seahawks
have trouble keeping players healthy when they
go down to Arizona. I wonder if Will Dissly
shouldn't play in the game. He was hurt two
years ago along with Earl Thomas. Nothing
has been the same for Earl ever since.

The San Francisco 49ers lost on Sunday Night
football at home 25-20. The 49ers are more
hurt then the Seahawks so hard to know where
they will be at the end of the season. The
Seahawks first meeting against the 49ers will
be on November 1 at home.

The Los Angeles Rams beat the New York
Giants at home 17-9. The Seahawks don't play
the Rams until November 15 in Los Angeles.
The Rams have a bye week  before the game.

The Pac-12 announced what they called their
seven game schedule. It is a misnomer because
the seventh game is actually the title game so
only the division  champions play seven games.
The Washington Huskies take on the Washington
State Cougars on the Friday after Thanksgiving
so not much has changed there.

The Huskies opening game will be against the
California Golden Bears on the road on November
7. We hope the Huskies do better this year. The
Washington State Cougars will be on the road as
well playing the Beavers at Corvallis, Oregon.
We will have to see how long the college football
season will go.

This weekend we heard about the passing of
St. Louis Cardinals pitching great Bob Gibson.
This was only a few weeks after his buddy Lou
Brock had died. Loved watching the Cardinals
back when those two were playing.

Until Wednesday be blessed everyone.

Seahawks Make It 4-0

Sunday afternoon the Seahawks beat the
Dolphins in Miami 31-23. Russell Wilson
had another good day with a passing rating
of 112.4.

This means Russell Wilson has throw 16
touchdowns on the so far on the season
along with tying Payton Manning for the
most in NFL history in the first four games
of the season.

Wilson completed 24 of 34 passes on the
day for 360 yards, two touchdowns and
had one intercepted.

Chris Carson running for 80 yards on the
today  scored the first touchdown making it 7-0.
Dolphins kicked a field goal  then the Seahawks
did to making the scored 10-3 at the end of
first quarter.

The Dolphins scored two field goals in the
second quarter. Travis Homer caught Russell
Wilson's first touchdown at the end of the
first half making the score 17-9.

The Dolphins had the only in the third quarter
kicking another field goal.

Again the fourth quarter was another exciting
finish for the Seahawk. The Dolphins had
their fifth field goal to come within two points
making real interesting. Seahawks 17 Dolphins 15.

David Martin caught a 17 yard touchdown with
5: 24 left in the game then Chris Carson ran for
another at four minutes making the score 31-15.

The Dolphins made it real interesting with a
pass for their only touchdown in the game
with one minute and 50 seconds to go. This
still gave them a chance with two point
conversion. Final score Seahawks 31
Dolphins 23.

The Seahawks had a couple take aways in the
game as well Ryan Neal in for Jamal Adams
along with Shaquill Griffin who had a bad game
last week each had an interception. The Seahawks
gave up 312 yards passing to the Dolphins. Not
great but an improvement over the past three
games. Having injuries to the secondary it
worked out well too.

KJ Wright had one of his best days at linebacker.
He almost had three interceptions along with
causing a fumble though the Dolphins recovered
the ball. The Dolphins touchdown was on a carry
by quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick for 10 yards. In
all Fitzpatrick had 47 of Dolphins 103 yards.
While the Seahawks had 98 yards which Carson
had 80 yards.

The Seahawks are still a game up on the LA Rams.
They play the Minnesota Vikings next week on
Sunday Night football at home.

Seahawks Ready For Miami

The Seattle Seahawks will be heading for Miami
on Saturday to take on the Dolphins. The game
will be  morning here on the West Coast.

Pete Carroll had another press conference on
Wednesday after the practice. Six players were
out to rest their injuries while 12 others didn't
participate either.

Usually the veteran players don't participate
in Wednesday practice unless you are Russell
Wilson. The biggest kick I got out of it was
DK Metcalf listed as a veteran player. I felt
it was a little loose calling him a veteran since
he is in his second season. I guess players who
are not rookies are all considered veterans.

Jamal Adams injured last week hasn't been
considered out of the game against Miami
as of yet. It would be nice if he can play
against the Dolphins.

Neiko Thorpe and Lano Hill did  practice
in a limited capacity on Thursday after
practicing Wednesday. Don't know whether
they will play on Sunday or not. They didn't
play last Sunday.

Russell Wilson was named NFL player of
the week once again. Keep doing that he
may likely be called MVP at the end of
the season.

We hope the defense can continue to improve
each week. The Seahawks were facing a good
defensive team Russell would have to get into
his bag of tricks for the Seahawks too win.

I expect the Seahawks will fly out Saturday
after a short practice. Likely go through what
they will do  for the first couple of series.
We hope to see 4-0  by Saturday afternoon our
time. Go Hawks!
