Washington Men's Basketball Open Season

The Washington Huskies men's basketball team
finally were able to begin the season on Sunday.
The unfortunate part they were blown out by #2
ranked Baylor 86-52.

We knew going into the game three players from
last season would start but the other two were a
little in question. The Huskies started Quad Green
at point guard with Jamal Bey and transfer Erik
Stevenson in the background with Nate Roberts
and Hameir Wright underneath.

The Huskies got off to a rough start being down
25-5 at the half way mark of the first half. They
did get get back in the game being down by 12
points at half time. The trouble was Baylor
ran off on a 12-3 run at the beginning of the
second half. Huskies were never in the game
again.

The Huskies will be playing Utah on Thursday
in Salt Lake City. The Utah Utes haven't played
a game yet so will give the Huskies an advantage
in that regard.

At least not yet the Huskies don't have a go to
player on offense when they get behind. RaeQuan
Battle led the Huskies with ten points coming off
the bench. He is probably the closest the Huskies
have to rely on offense. Erik Stevenson a transfer
from Wichita State could be the guy as well. He
had eight points but all in the first half.

Let you know how the Huskies do on Thursday.
Give a little update after each game.

Washington Huskies Win the Battle

The Washington Huskies football team had
a terrible first half against the Utah Utes on
Saturday. Utah gave them all they could handle
winning both sides of the ball in the first half.

Utah led the game at half time 21-0. The Huskies
didn't give up shutting down the Utes in the second
half. The Huskies ended up winning scoring a
touchdown in their last drive of the game. Dylan
Morris hit his favorite receiver tight end Cade Otton
with a touchdown with 36 seconds in the game.

Morris threw three interceptions in the game. He
hadn't had an interception in the previous two games.
He didn't let it keep him down. According to head
coach Jimmy Lake in his post game conference
"you could see it in his eyes".

Now the Huskies are first place in the Pac-12
after Oregon was upset by Oregon State on
Friday night. The Huskies will face  the Ducks
in two weeks. Next week they are expected to
face Stanford.

In basketball the men's team is expected to play
Baylor in Las Vegas Sunday afternoon. After
having a series of three games cancelled at home
this last week the Huskies are looking forward
to take on Baylor.  Go Dawgs!

Mariners Make A Trade Or Sign Free Agent

Now that Thanksgiving is over and the
same goes for Black Friday Jerry Dipoto
it is time to make a trade or sign a free agent.

There has been talk about trading with
Tampa which makes total sense. It would
be to bring native son Blake Snell for some
prospects.

I would be for it long as the prospects are
not in the top four listed for the Mariners.
I am sure they would have to give up two
or three prospects along with a regular
major leaguer as well. We will see on that
one.

Other trades Jerry will have to be open on
it as well. Do we go for another starting
pitcher or an outfielder?

Free agency I don't think there is a lot out
there to pick from. We could bring back
either or both Taijuan Walker and James
Paxton. Walker had a good run with
Toronto after the Mariners traded him
at the end of August. Paxton was hurt
so how healthy is he?

If I were to bring back one of the two I
would go for Walker. He is healthy right
now and has pitched well. He fits well
in the six-man rotation too.

Anyway Jerry let something happen so
the fans and the Mariners get a nice early
Christmas presents. Go M's.

Washington Huskies Will Play Utah

It was announced on Tuesday the Washington
Huskies will play Utah at home Saturday night.

Utah had a game scheduled against Arizona State,
however, the game was cancelled for covid-19.
Since both teams have an open date the Pac-12
decided to have both teams play each other.

Last week was Utah's first game of the season.
They lost big time to USC 33-17. USC passed
the ball for 264 yards and two touchdowns. The
Trojans only got 93 yards  on the ground.

Utah ran and passed the ball about the same amount
of opportunities though got more yardage through
the air.  The game was close at half-time with USC
leading 24-17. USC shutout Utah in the second half.

I am sure the Huskies will run and pass the ball equally
this week. Utah had three sacks on USC so running
the ball will be important. Go Dawgs!

Washington Huskies Defeat Arizona

The Arizona Wildcats lost for the ninth time a row
this time losing to the Washington Huskies Saturday
44-27.

The game wasn't even that close as they Huskies led
at the end of the third quarter 37-0. Huskies reserves
played most of the 4th quarter.

Huskies scored on their first four possessions of the
game. Dylan  Morris redshirt freshman quarterback
came out passing instead of running the ball like they
did against Oregon State last week.

Some reason Arizona came out trying to pass the ball
though the Huskies weakness is in running defense.
Arizona only had 45 total yardage in the first half.

Washington showed they can pass as well run the ball.
Actually Arizona did a good job stopping the run at the
beginning of the game though the Huskies did most
of the offense passing the ball.

It looks as though tight end Cade Otten is Morris favorite
target as he caught seven passes for one hundred yards
and a touchdown in the third quarter.

The Huskies were expected to play Washington State Cougars
in the Apple Cup this coming Friday, however, news came
out just a few minutes ago the game has been cancelled for
Covid-19. Not a big a surprise since the Cougars game against
Stanford was cancelled for this Saturday. The Huskies next
game scheduled is against Stanford in Seattle on December 5.
This game should play unless there is a surprise a Husky or
Cardinal player comes down with the virus.

So as of now the Huskies will play four Pac-12 games on the
season. They could play if another Pac-12 team is available
or another college time whose game has been cancelled as well
but they are not the team with the virus. Stay tuned!

WSU-Stanford Cancelled

News came out on Friday starting quarterback
Jayden de Laura tested positive for covid-19.
Later on several other Cougar players had the
virus as well so the game was cancelled against
Stanford.

This means to likely the Apple Cup next
Friday between the Cougars and Huskies
will be cancelled.

So now it means the Cougars and the Huskies
will be playing no more than five games on the
season unless more players get positive results.

Though it has been nice to see some football
games in the Pac-12 you wonder now if they
should have waited until spring to play or
should they cancel the rest of the season until
spring depending on the status of the virus.

The Huskies are expected to play Arizona at
home Saturday afternoon.

We know athletes at this age should be able
to bounce back for the most part. You wonder
if they should go ahead and still play the  games
depending on how many players are available.
Hard question to answer all around.

I figure we shouldn't be surprised since football
is a contact sport. Now we will have to see
whether college basketball will have games
cancelled.

This week the Huskies men's basketball team
has three games scheduled at home in what is
being called the Husky Classic. We will let you
know who it goes.

The Cougars have two games scheduled this
week on Wednesday against Texas Southern
and next Saturday against state rival Eastern
Washington.

Seahawks Defeat Cardinals

A game the Seahawks needed to win they did Thursday
night by beating the Arizona Cardinals 28-21.

Carlos Dunlap the Seahawks recently picked up from
the Cincinnati Bengals for pass rush had two against
the Cardinals. The most important one was the last
play the Cardinals had the ball in the game. It was
on fourth down where Dunlap was able to sack
Kyler Murray.

The Seahawks had Carlos Hyde back at running back
so they were able to get back to running the ball.
He had 14 carriers for 79 yards and a touchdown.

Tyler Lockett had nine catches on the night one going
for a touchdown. DK Metcalf had only three catches
but one did go for a touchdown as well.

Russell Wilson had a good completion rate completing
23 of 28 for 197 yards and two touchdowns. No
interceptions in this game. Some reason he didn't look
good to me in the game like he has an injury but had
some excellent throws anyway.

The defense against the run was excellent on the night
for the Seahawks. Kenyan Drake was high in rushing
for the Cardinals with 29 yards on 11 carriers.

As good as rushing defense was I wasn't impressed
by the defensive backs. DJ Reed had the best game
for the Seahawks defensive backs with nine tackles.
So often the basks allowed the receivers to get catches
for first downs.

The Seahawks now have  ten days off before there
next game against the Eagles in Philadelphia. The
follow the next two weeks with games against the
two New York teams at home followed by Washington.
The finish the season at home against the LA Rams
and the 49ers in San Francisco.  Go Hawks!

Robinson Cano Suspended Again

If you haven't heard former Mariner Robinson
Cano was suspended again for taking performance
enhancing drugs. Cano will be missing the full
2021 season.

Cano's first suspension I thought was ridiculous
because I take the same thing for water retention.
Well I have to admit I was wrong.

Obviously this means the trade of Cano to the
New York Mets by the Mariners was a good deal
besides getting Jarred Kelenic. The Mariners
number one prospect should be brought up
sometime in the 2021 season.

You wonder what Cano was thinking. Of course,
he wasn't or it wouldn't happen again. He certainly
is losing millions in the process. Cano seems to be
a nice guy but he has a problem he needs to take
care of. I wish him the best.

Seattle Mariners Off-Season

We haven't heard anything of yet from
general manager Jerry Dipoto and the
Seattle Mariners concerning trades or
free agency.

With Covid-19 going up again, at least
it is what we are being told anyway it
won't be easy to do the free agency bit
right now.

I am sure Dipoto has a few ideas up his
sleeve in free agency well as in trades.
We do know the Mariners will likely
go after at least one starting pitcher along
with the bullpen.

I am sure we can agree the Mariners will
probably try to re-sign Taijuan Walker who
they traded to Toronto at the deadline.

Position players I would like to see another
outfielder on the team.  Rookie of the year
Kyle Lewis is the only real thing right now.
Mitch Haniger was added back to the 40-
man roster but how healthy is he really.
If he is able to go likely be in right field.
This means a left fielder needed. They do
have a few candidates on the roster and we
look at that at another time.

On the infield the Mariners need a second
baseman. Will it be Dylan Moore who had
a good season or will Shed Long rebound
from a bad rookie season. The Mariners
could go out and get a second baseman too.
I would say not a high priority at this moment
but might be possible.

So we will see over the next few weeks how
Jerry Dipoto does on the market. Go M's.

LA Rams Beat Seahawks

I guess we shouldn't be surprised but the
Los Angeles Rams beat the Seahawks in
LA on Sunday Afternoon 23-16.

The Rams were able to stop the Seahawks
offense that has been scoring around 30
points a game despite injuries to the backfield.

The Seahawks offense had a total of 333 yards
on the day the second lowest of the season.
This was the first game of the season where
they scored less than twenty points in a game.

Alex Collins scored the Seahawks only touchdown
of the day. This was the first game where Russell
Wilson didn't throw a touchdown pass and had
two interceptions.  Collins had the most carries
on the day for the Seahawks of eleven producing
43 yards. Wilson had the most yardage rushing
at 60.

Offensively the big deal kicker Jason Meyers
kicked a Seahawk record of 61 yards at the
end of the first half. In all he was 3 for 3 in
field goals.

The Seahawks did well on rushing defense where
the Rams had 103 yards on 29 carriers though
scored three touchdowns on the ground.

Quarterback Jared Goff had 302 yards passing
without throwing a touchdown. The Seahawks
still continue having problems leaving receivers
open.

The Seahawks play the Arizona Cardinals at home
on Thursday night football this week. We have to
see if the offense can improve once again after
having a poor week and the defense as well. At
least after that they have ten days off. We hope
this allow the Seahawks get healthy.

Huskies Win Cougars Lose

The Washington Huskies beat the Oregon State
Beavers Saturday night 27-21. At kick off we
found out redshirt freshman Dylan Morris from
nearby Graham was the opening game starter at
quarterback. Head coach Jimmy Lake didn't
come to let us know who the starter would be.

Disaster almost happened at the end of the first
series of the game. Oregon State Beavers stopped
the Huskies on their 40 yard line. Washington had
to punt and the snap went way of the head of the
Huskies punter when trying to retrieve the Beavers
were able to pick it up and score a touchdown.

Fortunately the Huskies were able to come down
in the next possession to score. The game was tight
throughout. In fact in the second half with 1:45 left
in the game the Huskies kicked a field goal. The only
scoring done in the second half.

The Huskies and Beavers both ran the ball extremely
well. The Huskies had 270 yards on the ground while
the Beavers had 167. The main difference was the
Beavers had better field position through most of the
game.

The Washington State Cougars were beaten 43-29
by the Oregon Ducks.  The Cougars scored early
so things looked good though the game was close
at half time  Cougars 19 Ducks 14.

The Ducks dominated the Cougars in the second
half. They scored 22 points in the 4th quarter after
getting a touchdown in the third quarter.  The Cougars
scored ten points in the fourth quarter but it was to
little to late.

Oregon leads the north division of the Pac-12 with
a 2-0 record while the Cougars are 1-1. The Cougars
will be on the road playing at night against the Stanford
Cardinal. The Cardinal are 0-2 losing to Oregon and
Colorado.

Today the Seattle Seahawks have afternoon game on
the road in LA against the Rams. Be back later with
the results and takeaways from that game.

Change Happening

I continue to look at the stats to see
how many are viewing this and what
you are most interested in.

Over the years since starting this blog
I have written about the college and
professional sports in the state of
Washington.

I will still continue to do so, however,
in a different way because of what I
see you are interested.

If there is any specific you like me to
write about please add in the comment
section.

It seems most readers here are interested
in the Seattle Mariners even during the
off-season. Over the years I have recapped
the Mariner games but I feel since there
are so many games I will more likely recap
a series instead of specific games.

The Seahawks along with the Washington
Huskies, Washington State Cougars, and
the Gonzaga men's basketball team I will do
some recapping of games. What I see as the
main takeaways in the game.

Whether it is the Mariners or the other teams
I am looking at doing more features on the
players, or a position on the team. For example,
I may write about the Mariner outfield or one
of the players in the outfield.

I hope this excites you even more so on this
blog. Let your friends know about this blog
as well. Like always I want to thank you for
coming here whenever possible you can.

Sunday I will do takeaways from the Huskies
and Cougars games happening. On Monday it
will be Seahawks though I could write it later
on Sunday after the game as well. This week
the Seahawks have two games since they play
the Rams on Sunday and the Cardinals on
Thursday night football.

Until next time many blessings to you.

Kyle Lewis ROY

I am not sure why there are several rookie
of the year awards other than we can see
who thinks of the crop of rookies out there.

It was nice the players and the media both
recognized Kyle Lewis as the American
League rookie of the year.

Not only was he rookie of the year he was
the Mariners best player for 2020. We hope
we have only seen the beginning of what
Kyle Lewis can do.

Kyle Lewis hitting got off to a hot start. He
dwindled in September but his defense was
still incredible.

Amazing to think Kyle Lewis would start
in right or left field but instead played the
most important outfield position in center
field.

Lewis showed us who will be in centerfield
for the Mariners for the next several seasons.
Jarred Kelenic likely will be in right or left
field and on occasion in center when Lewis
needs a breather. Julio Rodriguez will become
the right fielder when he arrives moving Kelenic
to left field. Not bad for a starting outfield.

The Mariners need a left fielder who sticks
around for more than a season or two. The
history of the Mariners the one position they
haven't been able to fill for a good period
of time. Go M's.

Seahawk Wednesday

Head coach Pete Carroll says a major problem with
the Seattle Seahawks defense is execution. This is
especially true in the backfield.

The Seahawks the worst team defensively in the NFL
despite having a 6-2 record there was concern about
how the team was not getting to the quarterback when
it came to sacks. The last couple weeks improved
on sacks but higher total of yards passing came about.

Does the Seahawks need to go back to the way they
were playing defense with less sacks but lower number
of yards though it wasn't great. We will see how the
team figures it all out.

The Seahawks having several injuries at the defensive
back position are expected to lose cornerback Quinton
Dunbar this week Dunbar didn't look good last Sunday
against Buffalo. We have to see who plays in his spot
this Sunday.

The running back position hasn't been to good as of
late either with injuries mounting. The Seahawks added
former Seahawk Alex Collins to the squad last week.
Collins played a little against the Bills. In all the Seahawks
ran 57 yards in Buffalo.

Though Russell Wilson has played well for the most
part the Seahawks running game has to improve so
the turnovers don't amount further. There isn't any
word whether Chris Carson will be activated this
week.

The Seahawks added another former Seahawk running
back to the squad. This time Bo Scarbrough was added
to the practice squad for depth purposes.

The Seahawks play the LA Rams on the road this
Sunday followed by Arizona at home on Thursday.
With the injuries the Seahawks have had the question
I have what good is it for the Seahawks play on Thursday.
The only positive news they will have ten days off
after playing Arizona. So those who don't play on Thursday
will have chance to get back to action.

The Seahawks schedule does get easier but do hope they
can get healthy at the same time.

The Seahawks have a game lead going into Sunday over
the Rams and the Cardinals. If the Rams beat the Seahawks
and the Cardinals beat the Buffalo Bills at home on Sunday
there will be a three way tie going into Thursday's game.
Go Hawks!

Seahawks Lose Cougars Win

I mentioned before I wouldn't be surprised if the Seahawks
would lose in Buffalo against the Bills. Sadly I was right.

The final score was Buffalo 44 Seattle 34

The trouble was the Seahawks couldn't stop the Bills from
scoring and they had four turnovers that help the Bills score
as well.

The defense is still having trouble keeping the other team
from scoring. The Seahawks may have a 6-2 record at this
point but unless they can improve the defense they won't
win the Super Bowl most likely.

The Seahawks probably will make the playoffs and win their
division; however, the ultimate goal is to win the Super Bowl.
They don't have to have the best defense but  they do need one
that can stop the other team to some degree. When the offense
is running well then they will win but when the offense isn't
doing as well no win.

The Washington State Cougars beat the Oregon State Beavers
on Saturday night 38-28. Both teams had a rough start  not able
to get going in the first quarter. The Cougars scored on their
third time having the ball on a long pass by freshman quarterback
Jayden de Laura when the Beavers defense broke down.

Jayden de Laura  ended up completing 18 of 33 passes for 227
yards and two touchdowns. I expect he will do better since he
was making his college debut.  Often de Laura passed outside
the pocket. This could have a lot to do with Beavers defense
as well.

The Cougars will take on the Oregon Ducks next Saturday
afternoon. The Ducks are ranked # 11  beating Stanford on
Saturday 35-14. Oregon will be coming to WSU to take on
the Cougars.  Jayden de Laura will have to do much better
especially at the beginning of the game for the Cougars to
have any chance.

Oregon State will be going to Seattle to take on the Washington
Huskies. It will be the Huskies first game since the opening game
against California Golden Bears was cancelled because of  a
player being tested for covid-19 for the Golden Bears.

Oregon State will have to do better next week as well. They
will be taking on one of the best passing defenses in the Pac-12.
The Beavers best chance will be running the ball to start out
the game. If they can't run the ball it will be a tough game for
them to win.

The Seahawks announced Head Coach has signed an extension
to his contract so it looks like he will be around Seattle until
2025. Good news to the 12th man. Go Hawks!

Washington Huskies and Cal Game Cancelled

It was announced on Thursday the Washington Huskies
game at Berkeley against the California Golden Bears
was cancelled because one of the players on California
was tested positive for covid-19.

At this point the game will not be made up. So the Huskies
will now be down to five games on the season.

If I were the Huskies I would not play a single freshman
on the team in any of the five games to keep their eligibility
for four full seasons.

I wonder if another game is cancelled and they only play
four games whether all the players who wish to play will
be granted another year if they haven't redshirted before.
The NCAA rule you can redshirt players who have played
in four or less games.

Next Saturday Night the Huskies will be at home to take on
the Oregon State Beavers. The game starts at 8 pm. The
Beavers take on the Washington State Cougars on this Saturday
night. We will see how that goes.

In other sports news locally, First baseman Evan White and
shortstop JP Crawford were both won the gold glove in the
American League for their defense at their perspective position.
Not a big surprise for White though I was surprised by Crawford
winning the award. I  am sure we will see  more awards for
gold glove from White. We hope the same for Crawford. Shows
how improved the Mariners defense was over this last season.

Now next up see who general manager Jerry Dipoto can snag
in free agency and who he can pick up in trades.

Seahawk Wednesday

This coming Sunday the Seahawks play the Bills
in Buffalo. We hope there isn't any snow like it
would be if we were playing in another month
in Buffalo.

The Bills are 6-2 leading the AFC East division.
Their division maybe the worst in the NFL or
close to the NFC East anyway.

The Bills beat the New England Patriots at home
24-21. This isn't the Patriots team you know and
love. lol

The Seahawks had seven inactive players against
the 49ers one more than the required six because
of injuries. The Seahawks hope someone will be
able to play this week who didn't last Sunday.

There is a good possibility rookie DeeJay Dallas
will have to start again with Chris Carson and
Carlos Hyde probably still out. We hope that
Jamal Adams can return to safety this week.

Rookie Stephen Sullivan was activated off
the practice squad and took 22 snaps at
defensive end. Oh by the way he was drafted
as a tight end.

Carson could play this week if he is able to
respond on practice by Friday. Adams is the
only other player they hope to return this week.

We hope the Seahawks defense can respond by
getting a little better. It would be nice so when
playoff time comes they will be ready. The
Seahawks being champions will come from
the offense for the most part but becoming
somewhere in the middle for the defense as
far as the NFL goes would be nice.

Seahawks Back On Track

The Seattle Seahawks beat rival San Francisco 49ers
on Sunday November 1 at home 37-27.

The game was close in the first half the Seahawks
leading 13-7 on two touchdowns by DK Metcalf.

The 49ers had the first possession of the second
half, however, the Seahawks defense were able
to stop them so they had to punt.

The first possession of the second half the Seahawks
were able to score a touchdown on nine plays.
Rookie running back DeeJay Dallas scored his first
career touchdown on a two-yard pass from Russell
Wilson.

The 49ers ended up fumbling the ball on the kick off
where the Seahawks recovered the fumble. The
Seahawks scored on the sixth play of the drive on
a touchdown pass for six yards by David Moore
from Russell Wilson making the score 27-7.

The Seahawks ended up kicking a 48 yard field goal
by Meyers near the beginning of the 4th quarter making
it 30-7.

49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo had to leave the
game so he was replaced by backup QB Nick Mullens.
The 49ers ended up scoring on the fourteen play of the
drive on a running play making it 30-14. Mullens threw
11 passes during that drive.

The Seahawks were not able to go far having to punt
after six plays. The 49ers got the ball back after the
ball went into the end zone.

It took the 49ers six plays to go down the field to score
a touchdown to make it an interesting game They attempted
a two-point conversion but was not converted after a
replay was shown as it was ruled a conversion before hand.
This made the score 30-20.

The 49ers tried an onside kick however, the Seahawks
recovered the ball. Will Dissly recovered the ball on the
San Francisco's 47 yard line. It took the Seahawks eight
plays to score another touchdown. DeeJay Dallas ran
for a yard to make his first running touchdown of his
career after scoring on a pass earlier for his first touchdown
of his career.

The 49ers would not give up scoring another touchdown
on the 8th play of the drive making Seattle 37 San Francisco 27.

Russell Wilson completed 27 passes on 37 attempts for 261
yards and four touchdowns. Receiver DK Metcalf led the
Seahawks with 12 receptions 161 yards and two touchdowns.
DeeJay Dallas led the Seahawks in rushing with 41 yards.

On the defensive side Bobby Wagner led the Seahawks with
11 tackles including two sacks. The Seahawks now go next
Sunday to Buffalo to take on the Bills. Go Hawks!

The 49ers tried another onside kick since it was the only chance
they had to win the game however the Seahawks recovered this
one as well. The Seahawks ran out the clock.

Another good victory by the Seahawks thought the defense
again showed they need more help. They did improvement
on rushing the quarterback. Much of San Francisco's passing
yardage happened when they were down.

Seahawks vs 49ers and more

Sunday afternoon in Seattle the Seahawks will be
taking on the San Francisco 49ers. Second week
in a row the Seahawks take on a division foe.

Last Sunday night the Seahawks lost in overtime
to Arizona in a game they should have won but
lost in overtime on a field goal.

This week the 49ers will look to run the ball over
the Seahawks. The Seahawks defense will have
to be ready to be tough in stopping the 49ers offense.

It makes sense the 49ers in running the ball since
they have a better running attack then passing the
ball plus it will allow them to keep the ball out of
the hands of the Seahawks.

Usually when they do the coin flip the Seahawks
win the flip they allow the opposing team having
the ball initially then the Seahawks will be able
to have the ball at the beginning of the Seahawks.
I wonder if they will do the same this time when
winning the flip or take the ball first so the offense
can score first before the 49ers have the ball.

The idea might be to lose the flip. Of course, the
49ers could do the same thing allowing the Seahawks
with the ball first. We will see won't we.

In baseball, the Mariners released Dee Strange-Gordon
this week. Kendall Graveman the Mariners declined his
option as well, however, they turned around signed him
to a new deal. Graveman will be back next season being
in the Mariner bullpen.

The Mariners are close to their rebuilding so it will be
critical to have a good bullpen. It was a part of the team
this last season not doing well while the starting pitching
was fine along with the position players. Of course, the
starting pitching needs to continue improving along with
the position players

It is time to bring in at least three relievers by either free
agency or trade. Also, bringing up a couple relievers from
the minor leagues.  With the signing of Graveman means
one or two relievers from last season's team remaining.

The Mariners plan to go with a six-man rotation again so
it means seven or eight relievers. The Mariners will need
to add to their outfield as Kyle Lewis was the only true
outfielder with success this past season. Mallex Smith was
a disaster so he won't be  returning. He isn't on the 40-man
roster so he will sign with another team or be invited as
a minor leaguer to training camp.

The Mariners should be making a move today to add
Mitch Haniger, Tom Murphy and Andres Munoz to
the 40-man roster as they are all on the 60-day injured
list. Currently the Mariners have 32 players on their
roster..
