Seahawks Hire Head Coach

Wednesday the Seahawks hired their
new head coach in Michael MacDonald.
With Ben Johnson decided to stay at
Detroit with the Lions there wasn't
any other decision to go out. The
Seahawks were likely going to hire the
best young offense coordinator or the
best young defensive coordinator.

The Washington Commanders were
expected to sign Johnson so the
Seahawks has to move fast before
they would lose MacDonald. The
Seahawks could have been his first
choice anyway.

Now the keys are who will be coming
to Seattle as the assistant coaches.
I am sure an up and coming offensive
and defensive coordinators will be named.
MacDonald will put a stamp on the
defense for sure.

Since the news came out only few hours
ago we will let you will be on the staff
with MacDonald. It will be interesting
to see what players will and who will
not. News is MacDonald is signing a
six year day. Being the youngest head
coach at 36 years of age he could
be in Seattle for a long time depending
on his success.

Stay tuned what happens over the next
few days and weeks.

Mariners Make Another Trade

On Tuesday  the Seattle  Mariners  made
another trade. Not as significant  as  the
one made on Monday  however it could
back a difference  on the roster or another
trade that could happen as well.

The Mariners  acquired  infielder/outfielder
Samad Taylor from the Kansas City Royals
for a player named later or cash considerations.
This may mean the Mariners  could trade Dylan
Moore or adding more depth. Also the Mariners are
expected sign veteran Nick Solak to a minor
league deal and invited to trying camp.

The trade in which the Mariners  acquired
Jorge Polanco  from  the Twins  opens doors
to the roster for competition.  The Mariners
have 12 position spots  pretty  much set now.
So several players will fight for the remaining
spot on the opening day roster. Right now
Dylan  Moore  is the most likely  candidate
unless the Mariners  decide to trade him
freeing up more money. A trade likely would
bring in another pitcher. There has been rumors
on that front.

In other local sports  news. Ben Johnson the
offensive  coordinator of the Detroit Lions
has decided to  stay where he is at. This means
defensive coordinator  Michael Macdonald
could  be  the Seahawks  next head coach.

The Washington Commanders were sure that
Johnson  would be their next head coach. It
will be interesting to  see  where the Commanders
to get their next head coach. Does that mean
the Seahawks  have to act quickly or not. We
will see what happens. What we do know the
Seahawks  will have new coordinators as they
both have new jobs. Not a big surprise since
whoever is the next Seahawks  head coach
would bring in his own guy. Will the Seahawks
name the new head coach before the weekend
or wait until the Super Bowl is over. Stay tuned.

Mariners Make a Trade

On Monday the Mariners  made a
trade without giving up one of their
young pitchers while acquiring a
player from the Minnesota  Twins.

The Mariners  acquired Jorge Polanco
from the Twins  for four players. The
two primary  players with major league
experience  were Anthony Desclafani
who the Mariners  had acquired  from
the Giants with Mitch Haniger and
reliever Justin  Topa who had a good
season  in  Seattle  in  his only year
in a Mariners  uniform. Desclafani
had been acquired  to add depth  to
the Mariners  starting  rotation.  With
the Twins he will start. Topa will be an
added addition to the Twins bullpen.

The Twins also received pitcher Darren
Bowen who pitched last year in the low
minors and is not among the Mariners
top 30 prospects. They did receive #3
prospect outfielder  Gabriel Gonzales.
Though a tough player to give up the
Mariners  didn’t  give up any of their
top infield prospects  or catcher Harry
Ford. We know the athletic ability of
Ford he could play many other positions
other ball field.

Polanco should be the Mariners second
baseman though he can play third. Second
is his best position. Polanco missed half
of last year however the Mariners  feel his
injuries are behind him. This means Josh
Rojas and Luis Urias  will share or platoon
at third base. Rojas may play some second
when Polanco needs a day off. Polanco is
a switch hitter so we could see him dh on
occasion  against a right hander. We can see
Cal Raleigh  dh on occasion  against lefties
on his day off at catcher.

Mitch Garver is expected  to  be the main dh
on the season. He may catch on occasion.
How often depends whether  the Mariners  go
with two or three catchers on opening day.

The Mariners  do go with three catchers means
Dylan  Moore  will be the fifth outfielder  and
utility player along with the third catcher, Rojas or
Urias and Haniger or Dominic Canzone on the
bench. The Mariners  could make another trade
for another outfielder.

The Mariners  could still  sign Seattle native
Blake Snell to  a contract though will be costly
as a free agent. They could move  Bryce Miller
or  Bryan Woo  to the bullpen as a long reliever.
Go M's.

News For Seahawks New Head Coach

This week  the Seahawks  could name
their new head coach since two candidates
teams on Sunday  lost in the Conference
Championship games.

The first game the Kansas City  Chiefs
beat the Baltimore  Ravens so their
defensive  coordinator  Michael  Macdonald
is thought of being the next head coach of
the Seahawks.

The Detroit  Lions  looked like  they were
going to beat the San Francisco 49ers
for much of the game being ahead by
17 points before some turnovers happen
and they ened up losing by ten. Now the
Lions offensive  coordinator  Ben Johnson
is available  to  be interviewed as well.
There is  thoughts he will be  the  next
head coach of the Washington Commanders.

No naming of a Seahawks  coach this week
likely  won't  happen  until  after the Super
Bowl.  Maybe  there is a dark horse  for the
Seahawks  position.  Knowing general manager
John Schneider we never know. It would be
nice to hear this week however getting the right
one is the most important thing.  Go Hawks!

Cougars, Huskies and Zags All Win

It was a great Saturday as the three
major men's basketball teams in
Washington State all won. Not
something that happens all the time.

I would say Gonzaga was really the
only team expected to win while
the Cougars and Huskies we were
hoping they would.

Gonzaga actually was the closest
game which was expected to be
a blow out. The Cougars won their
game in double digits while the
Huskies as a blow out.

Gonzaga beat Pacific 82-73 on the road.
Pacific made it tough on the Zags leading
by one at half time 35-34. The Zags had
foul trouble in the first half as well as
poor shooting. The second half was
different as they shot better and went
on a 12-2 run. Pacific wouldn't let the
Zags off the hook for a while though
they weren't able to win.

The Zags had all five starters score
in double figures as they did in their
previous game to. Graham Ike who
missed some time in the first half
for foul trouble led the Zags with
20 points. Nolan Hickman who played
the whole game had 19 points. Anton
Watson who missed time in first
half as well ended up leading the Zags
in rebounding with eleven. Also he
had 12 points.

The Zags play home on Tuesday
against Loyola Marymount. They
are 3-4 heading into the game.
On Saturday they play St. Mary's
which might be the toughest
game so far as they are 7-0 in
conference and have won eight
straight.

The Cougars beat Colorado at
home to sweep the two home
games beating Utah on Wednesday.
The Cougars showed it is tough
for road teams to win in the Pac-12
conference though it is possible.
Final WSU 78 Colorado 69

The Cougars had control of the game
most of the game. The Buffaloes are
a very good team. Had they won the
game they would be on the top of the
Pac-12 conference instead they are
in third place behind Arizona and
Oregon.

The Cougars shot better from the
field making six more field goals.
They were pretty even on three point
shots as Colorado made one more.
The Cougars had four players score
in double figures. Jaylen Wells and
Myles Rice were tied in the lead with
17 points each. Wells was second in
rebounds with 10. Isaac Jones led
with 11 rebounds and had 13 points.

The Huskies controlled the game
from the start on  the way to a
score 98-73.  Wasn't a good road
trip for Utah as they were routed
by the Cougs on Wednesday. The
Huskies showed what they are
capable of when they are at their
best.

Keion Brooks Jr dominated scoring
27 points on the night. The Huskies
had four starters in double figures.
Paul Mulcahy had another great
game scoring 18 points. The coaching
brass must have told him to score
more points. He certainly look like
he was having fun.

Sahvir Wheeler was having fun dishing
the ball as he had 10 assists on the
night. Braxton Meah who was having
a good game took a fall late in the
first half tripping on a fellow Husky
coming down the court after dunking
a ball. He twisted his ankle and missed
the rest of the game. Wilhelm Breidenbach
who started at center had to play most
of the second half. Have to see whether
Meah will be back for the next game.

The Huskies and Cougars don't play
until Saturday when they face each
other in Seattle. The Huskies should
be favored since they play their best
ball at home however don't count out
the Cougars who are having a good
season. Even with the win the Huskies
are in 10th place in the conference
with Oregon State and USC below
them.  The Beavers though swept
Arizona and Arizona State this week
at home. The following week the
Huskies and Cougars play the Beavers
and Ducks the following week on
the road so won't be easy for both
Huskies and Cougars. Splitting the
series for both seems to be the
best scenario. In the meantime
face each other first.

Seahawks Still Waiting

It had been a few weeks since Pete
Carroll was moved to advisor and
won't be the head coach anymore.

Some thought Dan Quinn former
defensive coordinator would get
the job. He may still but not likely
the first choice other wise he
have the job already.

Several head coaching jobs have
already been filled. Washington
Commanders an Seahawks are
the only ones left. Going into this
weekend candidates could be
from Kansas City Chiefs, Baltimore
Ravens, Detroit Lions and San
Francisco 49ers.  Chiefs and 49ers
don't have any rising candidates
spoken of any way. If they go to
the Super Bowl then the Seahawks
could name a coach this coming
week.

The Seahawks have some free agents
coming up this off season. The three
key players who will stay or not will
quarterback Geno Smith,  Jamal Adams
and Bobby Wagner. Geno and Adams
are not free agents while Wagner is.
Will Bobby Wagner return right now
it would be a guess. We will get more
on the roster and free agents after
the naming of the coach.  Go Hawks!

Gonzaga Wins a Close One At Home

As I expected the game between
between Gonzaga and University
of San Francisco would be a good
one and wasn't a disappointment.
Gonzaga won 77-72.

The Zags led by one at halftime
however a run in the second half
got them a 12 point lead. The Dons
would not give up as their defense
got them back into the game reducing
the score down to three before the
end.

The Zags played their starters most of the
way so only had four points off the bench.
Graham Ike who lead the Zags with 22
points missed sometime along with Anton
Watson who was second in scoring with
15 in the first half being in foul trouble.
Both of them had seven rebounds to lead
the Zags to. All five starters scored in
double figures.

The game came to the foul line. The
Zags made 22 of 34 foul shots while
the Dons made 11 of 14.  Most of the
Zags foul shots happened in the second
half as the Dons were trying to get back
into the game.

The Zags will play at Pacific on Saturday
night. Pacific isn't doing well this year
being on the West Coast Conference
so the Zags should win easily. The Zags
need to win all or most of the games
to get into the NCAA tournament.

The Zags are in third place of the West
Coast conference with a 5-1 record.
St. Mary's who is at top with 6-0 the.
Zags will play them early February. Be
an  important game for them to win.
Santa Clara is second with 6-1 record.
They beat Gonzaga in their first outing
at home 77-76. They play again on
February 24 in Spokane. Go Zags!

Look At Mariners Outfield

One player who will be in the lineup
of the Mariners outfield is Julio Rodriguez
in center field. He is looking to improve
on his offense in 2024. You look at his
stats they look good however much of the
season he did struggle. Being in only
his second season.  I am sure he pressed
some since the offense didn't pick up
when he was doing well. We hope this
will be different this season.

Luke Raley they picked up from Tampa
Bay will  be in the outfield for the most part. Not sure whether he will be in left
or right field. Depending on Ty France
we could see him at first base. Some
think he may play mostly in right but
we will see when training camp games
begin. A lot will depend whether the
Mariners play Haniger in right field
like he did in his previous time in
Seattle. He could play in left to make
sure he has less chance of bring hurt.

There is thought Haniger may platoon
this coming season. If so Dominic
Canzone a left handed hitter may
platoon with Haniger. Why the thought
to be in left field. Cade Marlowe who
had a little success last year could be
the fifth outfielder. Dylan Moore will
see some time in the outfield as well
as the infield. The same goes for
Sam Haggerty if he is on the team.

It would be nice to pick up another
right handed hitter for outfield though
another infielder would be better.

The important thing is Haniger will
stay healthy or they may have to
pick up another outfielder.

Coming up we will look at the
infield. Training camp starts on
February 20 for position players.
So about a month away. Go M's.

Cougars Upset Utah Huskies Lose to Colorado In Men's Basketball

The Washington State Cougars  are
having a better season than expected
this time upsetting Utah at home 79-57.

The game was close in the first half
with the Cougars leading by three at
half time. In the second half they went
on a 20-2 run to break open the game.

All five starters were in double figures
in scoring. Isaac Jones led in scoring
with 17 points and in rebounding with
10. The difference in the game the
Cougars out rebounded Utah 40 to 29
and in free throws where Utah only made
three of seven shots while Cougars made
16 of 24. Not a good shooting at the
line however the attempts were good.
They have to play Colorado on Saturday
who beat the Huskies in Seattle 98-81.

The Huskies offense continues to do
well but as the score indicates they
need to improve on the defense.
Both teams shot well from the field
each going over 50% which means
Utah wasn't good on defense as well.
The Huskies are showing they can
score however they need to stop the
other team too.

The Huskies have been playing well at
home for the most part however they
have trouble stopping the other team
especially late in games. Colorado had
all five starters score in double figures.
The Huskies on the other hand had three
plus Braxton Meah had 11 off the bench.

The Huskies were led again by Keion
Brooks junior with 22 points. Moses
Wood had 13 points. He was only
Husky shooting well beyond the 3 point
line making 3 of 4. Huskies only made
two more 3 pointers though they shot
15 more times besides Woods four shots.

The Huskies will need to do is upset
Utah to at home on Saturday. Not an
easy task as Utah won't want to be
swept on the road. At this rate the
Huskies will be looking to come in
with a new coach next season. Again
they will have to go through the
transfer portal as most of the starters
will be done including leading scorer
Keion Brooks Jr. The Huskies needed
to make the NCAA tournament to
return for his final year of his contract
and want to go with a new contract.
His run has been disappointing lacking
good seasons after his first two when
he was named Pac-12 coach of the
year.

Gonzaga will be home tonight against
the San Francisco Dons. This will be
a good game since the Dons are having
a good season. We let you know how it
goes. Go Zags!

Good News For Huskies At QB

I thought  it was likely  Will Rogers
would return  to the team after
trying  the transfer portal.

It was announced on Tuesday  he
is returning.  How good  he is we
will find out. Rogers is a graduate
student so not many schools would
be interested  unless needs him for
one season like the Huskies. He is
enrolled  in classes to.

The next deal coach Fisch has to
do is bring in some offensive linemen.
Currently  the Huskies don't  have
any who were on the team from last
season. We hope those who have
not found a new home yet will return.

Before Rogers and those who have
transfered  in the Huskies  were at
64 scholarship players.  So they need
add around 40 players to the roster.
Some will be starters as well as
backups and incoming freshmen.
We wish Fisch the best job to come.
Go Dawgs!

Washington Huskies Had a Team Meeting

With several players using the transfer
portal to go to Alabama the players
still there had a team meeting. They
are all in who are not on the transfer
portal and hoping to get some back
as well who are in the portal.

I grant that DeBoer is a very good
coach however those who transferred
to Alabama cared more about him
then they did their teammates and
University of Washington.

I am sure all think they will play in the
NFL and DeBoer will get them there.
The honest truth not all the guys will
go to the NFL. New head coach Jedd
Fisch said he would coach the Huskies
to get the players into the NFL or
prepared for life outside of football.
This is more realistic.

I read a post the other day saying this
coming draft the Huskies will have
more drafted from one school than
ever in the history of the Pac-12.  As
we know not every player that is drafted
will stick. A year or two in the NFL
certainly help out financially in life
if they are smart about it.

Look forward to see returns to the
Huskies and who will come in through
the portal. At this point the Huskies
need a veteran quarterback to come in.
Too bad Dylan Morris transferred. There
is a possibility that Will Rogers will
decide to come back. Even under Fisch
he is a good fut though will likely run
a slight different offense. He is a graduate
student so he is good for one year.

It will be a  good job Fisch will have to
do if the Huskies have a successful
season in 2024. We wish him the best.

Mariners Spring Training Begins In Three Weeks

The Mariners  pitchers and catchers
will be reporting in three weeks from
this Wednesday on February  14.

The time is short for the Mariners  to
make any additional  moves before
training camp. We are hoping to see
at least couple additional position
players sign or be acquired. The
position  players  report on February
19.

The Mariners  first game will be on
February  24 against the Chicago
White Sox at their training  facility.
Interesting the first time I can
remember  they don't  open against
the San Diego. In fact they don't
face the Padres for the first time
until  March 3.

The Mariners  can use acquiring
a third or second baseman and
or utility.  Currently Dylan Moore
and Sam Haggerty  are the only
utility  players on the 40-man
roster. Luis Urias right now is
expected to be the starting 3rd
baseman. If the Mariners acquire
a third baseman Urias would
likely  platoon at second base.

Being a right handed Urias would
platoon with Jose Rojas at second
and play occasionally at third too.
Acquiring a second baseman it
would depend who it is Rojas may
platoon with Urias at third or play
on occasion if still still at second.

Current situation  Dylan  Moore
may platoon at 2nd base or in
left field.  If he is in left than
Sam Haggerty may platoon at
2nd. Their is a good chance the
Mariners will pick an infielder
and an outfielder.

In the outfield we could see
Dominic Canzone  a left handed
batter in left field  with Dylan
Moore playing against left handed
pitcher if they don't  get a right
handed hitting outfielder. Currently
Mitch Haniger  and Julio Rodriguez
are the only pure outfielders who
bat right.

Luke Raley they acquired from Tampa
Bay for infielder Jose Caballero is a
left handed bat and may platoon in
right field depending  how healthy
Mitch Haniger stays. Mitch Garver
is expected who they signed as a
free agent from Texas is supposed
to be the dh most of the time. He
may catch on occasion  to rest Cal
Raleigh  against lefties. In this case
Haniger may dh. May depend whether
the Mariners acquire a right handed
hitting  outfielder.  This would be the
best idea for flexibility in the lineup.
Raley could play some first base in
place of Ty France  if needed.

The Mariners  could go with three
catchers as well as they started
last season  though it didn't work
out. The Mariners acquired two
catchers on the off-season Blake
Hunt and Seby  Zavala. Seby they
acquired  from Arizona  in  the trade
sending Eugenio Suarez to them.
Both are more defensive catchers.
Seby the most likely  the one to
begin the season.  He could  be
the second catcher. If he were
to start then late in the game
we could see Cal Raleigh pinch
hit for him and stay in. Whatever
the case the Mariners  would have
an insurance catcher.

It will be interesting to  see  what
additional  moves  the front office
makes. There a few free agents
still out there. Who comes depends
how much they want to spend. Go M's.

Huskies and Cougars Both Lose

Washington  Huskies  men's basketball
team lost to  Stanford  on the road
Saturday  evening 90-80.

Not a big surprise as the Stanford
Cardinal are having a good season.
The loss to the Cougars  Thursday
night the chances are they would
win this game. The Huskies beat
California  Golden Bears  Thursday
night by one night with Moses Wood
hitting a 3 pointer at the buzzer.

The score indicates the Huskies
offense did a good job however
the defense. What cost the Huskies
Stanford  went on a 12-2 run in the
first. Also hurt the Huskies  Stanford's
Spencer Jones had eight 3s in the
game scoring a total of 30s.

The Huskies had all five starters
score in double figures unfortunately
no one on the bench including Koren
Johnson who is having a good
season averaging  10.5  points a
game. Keion  Brooks Jr  led the
Huskies in scoring with 20 and
rebounding with 11. Moses Wood
had 18 points. Wood a transfer like
the whole Huskies starting line up
had a rough start on the season
has scored in double figures begin
with a win over Colorado State. He
is averaging 11.5 points a game
on the season.

California  beat the Cougars Saturday
afternoon  81-75. It took the Golden
Bears overtime to win. The difference
in the game California  made five more
foul shots than the Cougars while they
had two more attempts.

A major reason  the Golden Bears won
guard Jaylen Tysonhad a career high of
30 points. They had three players in
double figures while the Cougars  had
four. Andrej  Jakimovski led the Cougars
with 20 points and Myles Rice had 16.

The Cougars are 7th in the Pac-12
standings with a 4-4 record.Had they
beaten Stanford they would be reversal
in record at 5-3 and be tied with Colorado
in fourth place. The Oregon Ducks lead
the conference  with a 5-1 record with
Arizona  and Arizona State  tied at 5-2.
The Huskies  are tied in 8th 3-5 record
with UCLA  and California.

The Cougars will  be playing Utah
Wednesday at home followed by
Colorado on Saturday. Huskies will
be home Wednesday against Colorado.
Saturday against  Utah. The Huskies
have been playing  better at home and
it would be great to win both games
this coming week. It won't be easy
so if they get swept  the season could
be over as far as making the NCAA
tournament. They would  have  to win
the Pac-12 tournament to get in. That is
possible  if they play well going into the
Pac-12  tournament.

Gonzaga beat San Diego again big time
on Saturday 105-63. The Zags were led
by Braden Huff coming off the bench
with 26 points and a career high.  Huff
averages 11.4 points a game. Good for
the Zags  to have  a  scorer like that off
the bench. Ben Gregg was second in
scoring with 15 points and led with 11
rebounds. In all the Zags had six scores
in double  figures.

This coming Thursday they play San
Francisco at home and then Pacific
on Saturday.  The Zags and San Francisco
are tied third place with 4-1 record so
should be quite the game. Pacific  is
0-5 and tied with San Diego in last place.
It would be quite the upset if Pacific  won.
Go Zags.

Gonzaga Takes On San Diego Saturday

The Zags take on San Diego already
for the second time already in the
West Coast Conference. Last time
they played as two weeks ago where
Gonzaga won at home 101-74. It is
interesting how their conference
schedule works this year.

On Thursday they beat Pepperdine
on their court  86-61 to almost same
identical score Pepperdine had 60
while the Zags had 86 as well.

Head coach Mark Few recorded his
700th win in his career with the victory.
Graham Ike led the Zags with 24 points.
Graham had a hot night shooting making
11 of 17 shots from the field.  Nolan
Hickman had 19 points and Anton Watson
came through with 16 points and eight
rebounds.

The game was tied at half time at 40-40.
Zags shooting  70.4% from the floor in the
second half. San Diego on the other hand
went real cold making only 21 points while
Zags had 46. They shot 29.2 percent from
the field. Gonzaga has beaten Pepperdine
for 47 straight games so it has been a
long time since their last win.

The Zags will play San Francisco Dons
at home next Thursday at home followed
by going to Pacific on Saturday.

It was a nice Thursday that Gonzaga as
well as Washington  and Washington
State all won their games See if it can
happen again Saturday. Won't be an
easy task for sure.

New Coach Fisch Has To Deal with Transfer Portal

Now these days when a coach leaves
or gets fired the new coach has to
deal with the transfer portal. This is
the deal with with new head coach
Jedd Fisch has to deal with.

The saddest  part for the Washington
Huskies the players for the most part
can't celebrate what a great season
they just had. Kalen DeBoer and much
of the coaching  staff headed to Alabama.

Much of the Huskies starting players who
are not heading  to  the NFL are going
into the transfer portal.  There are some
who may return if Coach Fisch can convince
to do so. Only a couple players starting on
offense and defense  are returning at this
time. Some of the players who were backups
as well  are trying the transfer portal as well.

In my opinion the saddest part these players
especially  the backups  is that they likely will
not play in the NFL. Those who declared for
the NFL  draft will have some or a lot of success
however most will play two to five years. Yes
they will make some good money  but what plans
do they have after their career is over. Now back
to those who are transferring out are they going
to have success at the next school. Also, many of
them won't  play in the NFL  and the money they
get is in the  NIL.

I don’t  blame those players who won't  get a lot
of playing  time  at Washington  to try elsewhere.
The thing is those who don't  make the NFL where
will they have success in education  and what
about after college.  Washington  provides a good
education  and gives good opportunities. The
other schools  may do so as well.  Washington
though you can say you played for a national
championship. There is not a lot of schools you
say about that. The players are thinking about
the now and where they can play football. If
they don't  return to Washington  I hope they
don't  regret it. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Spring Training About A Month Away

While the Huskies and Seahawks have
been busy lately  with coaching staffs
the Mariners  have been mainly dealing
with making signings that will add depth
to the team.

How these guys will perform or on
the major league roster when the
season  we can only guess.

The Mariners  haven't  made any major
moves since they brought back Mitch
Haniger back from the San Francisco
Giants and sending Robbie Ray to them.
They made a trade with Tampa Bay as
well. So they added two pieces to the
outfield.

The rest of the major leagues hasn't
made other moves either except minor
ones as well.

We hope the Mariners  make a move
to bring in another outfielder  and we
hope an infielder.  The Mariners  haven't
made any real move to replace Eugenio
Suarez at third base. They have a couple
that can play third but I  wouldn't call
them a average or above third baseman.

Dominic Canzone looks like the best
choice in the outfield to spend time in
right field when Mitch Haniger needs a
day off or they may platoon as Canzone
bats left while Haniger  hits from the
right side. In left field will be Luke Raley
who they received from Tampa Bay for
infielder  Jose Caballero.  Though Raley
was a nice pickup certainly put a strain
in the infield as far as backups go.

Currently  Dylan Moore  and Sam Haggerty
are the top  utility players at the moment.
Say I am not jumping cart wheels  over
them. At this moment Moore would be
the right handed bat either in left field
or second base. He is the backup for JP
Crawford at shortstop. Why another right
handed bat needed in the outfield.

Sam Haggerty  will likely  be someone
who comes in late into the outfield or
pinch run and sometimes  pinch hits.
He could platoon at second base if
Moore has to in left field. Moore's
value is he can play any position on
the field except  catcher. In recent
years his bat hasn't  been  great. He
is healthy  when the season  begins
that will help. Both these guys are
good role players if the Mariners
play some small ball.

I hope the hesitate much longer and
bring in a couple productive players.
Go M's.

Huskies Coach Jedd Fisch First Press Conference

Tuesday morning at 11 am Huskies coach
Jedd Fisch had his first press conference since coming less than 48 hours ago.

He said that he took the Huskies job
to win championships. He said realistically
only 12 to 14 teams in CFP have a chance
to win the National championship and
Washington is one of them.

Fisch didn't promise that he would be
around a long time or not. Sounds like
he would leave if an NFL team who has
an opening that realistically has chance
to win the Super Bowl. He didn't say the
words but we figured he applied it.

Fisch brought up the words the next
man up. What he meant was when
the time comes to leave the Huskies
be in the position to continue going
for championships.

Building the Huskies team is bringing
in freshmen recruits and on any transfers
through the portal for positions that
need help to keep things going.  Fisch
said it is like the draft for the NFL and
adding free agents at certain positions.

He will bring in almost all of his staff
from  Arizona. Didn't indicate any transfers
from Arizona although they will have
some. The window has closed for the
portal at this time so he will see out
of the group including Huskies to come
to or back. The portal will open again
April so then he could pick.up some
Arizona players or from.elsewhere.

Currently the Huskies don't have any
quarterbacks who have college
experience. We will see whether he
can bring back Austin Mack who just
over the weekend go into the portal.
Most likely Will Rogers is gone
but say never  to come back.  He
currently enroll in classes at U W..

Parker Brailsford who started at
center for most of season announced
he was going into transfer. Also German
Bernard the highest returning wide
receiver entered the transfer portal
as well. He decommitted two years
ago when Kalen DeBoer became
head coach. He played st Michigan
State for a year before coming back.
We will see what he actually does.
Go Dawgs!

Mariners Sign Some International Players

The Seattle  Mariners signed eight
international  players  this week.
The most notable  international
players not counting Ichiro  and
other Japanese  players they signed
are not part of this group.

Julio Rodriguez  and  former Mariner
Felix Hernandez were signed this
way be the Mariners. They have no
other international  players on the
40 roster man were signed by them.
They do have a few that are in the
Top 30 prospects. A couple of these
signings will join in.

All eight signing are from the Dominican
Republic. The Mariner are already
enriched at shortstop among their
top prospects however they signed
three of them. Shortstop Dawel Joseph
was the highest signing being number
seven in the top 50. Another in top 50
was shortstop  Leandro Romero at 48.

It will be several years  before any will
arrive in Seattle  as they are either 16
or 17 years old. They likely  will  be
playing in the Dominican for at least
two years. They signed three pitchers
as well as catcher Manuel Baez and
infielder/outfielder Deuri Castillo.

Let you know if the Mariners  sign
anymore  international players
though they only had $6.5 million
to sign..Joseph  got about half of
it. The most likely  one to make it
to Seattle.  Let you know who makes
the top 30 Mariners prospects besides
Joseph.

Spring  training  is  about a month away
so more work needs to be done to bring
at least two  position players on board.
Hopefully  we will hear real soon. Go M's.

Huskies Get Their Man

It didn't take long for the Huskies
to get their new head coach after
the departure of Kalen DeBoer to
Alabama.

I am sure most of us thought
DeBoer would stick around more
than two years. These is the life
of college sports. Have no idea
how long the athletes will stick
around as much as the coaches.

The Huskies announced the
hiring of Arizona head coach
Jedd Fisch as the new one
Fisch spent three years Arizona.
It was a tough first season going
1-11 in 2021 then 5-7 in 2022
and finally 10-3.

After Arizona's loss to the Huskies
the Wildcats were the hottest team
in the Pac-12. With the talent has
and Fisch will bring in they still will
be a good team.

The Huskies have already lost
several players in the transfer
portal however I am sure Fisch
will try to bring some of them
back into the fold. At this point
we don't know how many they
will lose.

Alabama lost 18 players to the
transfer portal and could lose
more. I am sure they lose more
and the Huskies are around
12 they have lost. They could
lose more depending on how
upset the players are and who
may follow DeBoer to Alabama.
Those who are still eligible being
around before could stick it out
at Mountlake.

Fisch will bring some players
over from Arizona plus those
who he might have been interested
in before taking the Washington
job.

We feel the same for the players
and fans of the Wildcats since
they are going through the same
as the Huskies. I wish them to
get the right head coach as well.
It will continue to be a ripple
effect though. It is to bsd that
Alabama didn't go within and
hire an assistant who had been
at the school already.

In men's basketball the Huskies
lost to UCLA at Pauley Pavilion
73-61. Going into the game the
Bruins had only one win the Pac-12.
They have a young team. On the
roster they have eight freshman,
four sophomores, two juniors
and one senior. Two freshmen,
three sophomores and one junior
are getting the bulk of minutes.

The Huskies two upsets are
against Gonzaga and Arizona
both at home. The Huskies are
now 2-4 in the Pac-12. Three
of the four losses are on the
road. The one loss at home
the Huskies lost by two to
Oregon. The Huskies will need
to do better on the road to
make the NCAA tournament
in March. Also for head coach
Mike Hopkins to keep his job.
Likely the Huskies will be
looking for a new head coach
after the season.

The Huskies were led by point
guard Sahvir Wheeler with 27
points. He is his having a good
stretch lately. On the season
he is averaging 16.5 points
and 6.3 assists per game.
He is second on the team in
scoring behind Keion Brooks
Jr. who had 12 points.

The Huskies shot poorly on
the day making 40.4 from
the field while UCLA shot
50 percent. UCLA made
four more shots. Both
made  the same amount
of three pointers at six
though the Huskies shot
almost twice as many at
25. Had they shot almost
the same percentage as
UCLA they may have won
the game. The Huskies
took just under 50 percent
outside the 3pt.line while
the Bruins were at 28 percent.

This week the Huskies play
at California on Thursday and
Stanford on Saturday. California
has same identical record as
Washington at 2-4 in Pac-12
though not as well overall. The
Huskies have a better record
California is 5-4 at home.
Stanford is third in the Pac-12
with 4-2 record. Overall they
are 7-2 at home. Huskies will
need to avoid being swept.
Go Dawgs!

Cougars Upset Arizona Wildcats

There must be some parity in the Pac-12
as the Cougars beat the Wildcats at
home. It was the first time in Pullman
the Cougars beat #8 Arizona since 2010.
The Cougars beat them last year on
their court.

The Cougars were ahead of Arizona in
the second half by 11 points but the
Wildcats took a slight lead for a moment
near the end of the game. The final
score was Washington 73 Arizona 70.
Came down to the wire however a win is
a win.

The Cougars again were led by Isaac Jones
with 24 points and 13 rebounds. Myles Rice
had 18 points and Jaylen Wells 11. They
only had 8 points off the bench. The Cougars
shot better from the field though they took 16
less than Arizona. The difference though both
teams took the  same amount of shots from
the foul line however the Cougars made four
more. Arizona outrebound the Cougars 51-38.
The difference was in offense rebounded
but the Wildcats poor shooting did them
in.

The Cougars will take on Stanford on the road
Thursday followed by California on Saturday.
The Huskies will be reversed.
Washington takes on California then Stanford.
The Huskies play UCLA on the road on Sunday.

Speaking of the Huskies they will name
their next head football coach soon.
Unfortunately Ryan Grubb won't be it.

The Cougars are 3-3 in the Pac-12
men's basketball while Huskies head
into Sunday's game 2-3. Oregon leads
the Pac-12 with 5-0 record.

Kalen DeBoer Off To Alabama

I am sure like most Huskies  fans Friday
was a big surprise  he is headed to Alabama
as head coach Already several players have
entered the transfer  portal including Will
Rogers who had transferred in from Mississippi
to be the next starting quarterback  at
Washington.

The question  now who will be the next head
coach at Washington and be the quarterback
as well.  Quite the week  with Pete Carroll let
go by the Seahawks and now DeBoer leaving.

I would give you my opinion on DeBoer, however
I State who should be the next head coach. The
Huskies should give the job to offensive coordinator
Ryan Grubb. I  am  sure  he wants to be a head coach.
If this doesn't  happen  he is off to Alabama  too.
Interesting  since he was offered the job as offensive
coordinator at Alabama last year.

I expect we will hear the name of the new head coaches
at Seattle  and  Washington  will soon. Keep  your chin
up.

Huskies Beat Undefeated Arizona State

For the Huskies it is nice to play at
home. The Arizona State Sun Devils
came in undeated in the Pac-12 at 4-0.
The Huskies showed the Sun Devils
it isn't easy to win on the road.

Final Huskies 82-67

The Huskies led most of the first half
though were down by one. It was interesting since they looked like they
were in control. The Sun Devils scored
a lot in the first half because of turnovers.

The Huskies got off to a good start in the second half taking an eight point lead.
It stayed that way for a while trading baskets. Under the half way left in the second half the Huskies went on a 13-0
run. The best the Sun Devils could do
was get back to nine down however the
Huskies were able to get back in double
figures on shooting three points.

Shavir Wheeler led the Huskies with 24 points. The Sun Devils let Shavir take
3 point shots where he made all five
that he took. Huskies leading scorer
on the season Keion Brooks Jr had 22
points. Moses Wood chiped in 15. He
was 4 for 10 behind the three point
line and three for four from the foul
line. In all the Huskies shot over 50
percent behind the arc.

Center Braxton Meah had his best
game of the season with 10 points
and a career high 14 rebounds. The
key was Braxton stayed out of foul
trouble which he has had trouble
in all season long. The Huskies
with him in the lineup they can be
difficult to beat. The Huskies will
play UCLA on the road Sunday. The
Bruins are a young team and are
dead last in the conference with a
1-4 record along with Oregon State.

Wednesday night WSU Cougars beat
USC on the road 72-64. The Trojans were supposed to be one of the better teams
behind Arizona however they are 2-3.
Speaking of Arizona the Cougars play
them on Saturday at home.

The Cougars took care of the Trojans
in the second half after leading by one
in the first half. Both teams had six three
pointers so that was a wash. Neither team
shot well as the Trojans had two more attempts at 21. Cougars made two more field goals with less attempts. The Cougars made four more foul shots though the
Trojans took one more attempts.

The Cougars were led by Isaac Jones
with  26 points and 11 rebounds. Jaylen
Wells had 17 points and Myles Rice with
12. Only three scoring in double figures.
Next in line was Isaiah Watts with six
points.

The Trojans had only two players score
in double figures with Boogie Ellis with
18 and Isaiah Collier with 12. Former
Cougar DJ Rodman led the Trojans
with 8 rebounds.

Gonzaga were beaten Thursday night
by Santa Clara on the road 77-76. The
Zags had to erase a 13 point defecit
in the second half but couldn't make it
through. This was the first time Santa
Clara beat the Zags since 2011.

Anton Watson led the Zags with 32
points and nine rebounds. Ryan
Nembhard had 21 points while Braden
Huff came off the bench with 14.
Santa Clara had five players in double
figures led by guard Adama Bal with 17.

The Zags don't play again until next
Thursday on the road at Pepperdine.
They beat Pepperdine at home last
Thursday 86-60. Santa Clara and St.
Marys lead the West Coast Conference
with 3-0 records. San Francisco Dons
are third at 2-0. Gonzaga behind them
at 2-1. Go Zags!

Look At Seahawks Offense

The dismissal of Pete Carroll the
Seahawks offense could look a
lot different bin 2024 depending
on who the coach is.

It won't be just the head coach
but the assistant coaches that
come and go. The likelihood of
a new offensive coordinator to.

The Seahawks  were ranked 13th
in the NFL in the game while the
rushing game was at 30th. Very
sad on rushing since it is what
Pete Carroll's wanted to do and
was his downfall.

Ken Walker is a good running back
along with rookie Zach Charbonnet.
Both showed their abilities so the
trouble was the offensive line. Both
tackles Charles Cross on the left
side and  Abraham Lucas lost time
because of injuries. Cross missed
three games after starting the first
game of the season. Lucas missed
ten game  and returning in week
13 against the Dallas Cowboys.

The Seahawks need more depth
to the offensive line. It is obvious
they are able to block well against
the pass however need help against
the run. The Seahawks have three
tight ends who were healthy for the
season. Colby Parkinson who is the
third tight end is going to be a free
agent so we will see whether he
returns or not. None of three tight
ends seem strong on blocking or
they should have been used more
in the running game. They were
all effective some in the passing
game.

Noah Fant the starting tight end
had 32 catches for 414 yards and
no touchdowns. Far cry from having
four touchdowns in 2022. His yardage
per catch was better though from
9.7 in 2022 to 12.9.  Will Dissly's
production went way down from
2022 where he caught 34 to 17 in
2023. His yardage per catch was the
same. He had one touchdown in 2023
compared to 3 in 2022. Colby Parkinson
had the same amount of catches and
touchdowns both seasons. He caught
25 passes and two touchdowns. His
yardage per catch went down by 3 yards.

The likelihood of the use of the tight ends
in 2023 was the use of rookie wide receiver
Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Jaxon  had 63 catches
for 628 yards and four touchdowns. Marquise Goodwin who was the third
receiver in 2022 had 27 catches with four touchdowns. DK Metcalf had fewer catches
in 2023 to 2022. He was second in receptions with 66 catches though led
the team in yardage at 1114 and had 8
touchdowns. Metcalf had more catches with 90 in 2022 but fewer yardage at
1078 and touchdowns with six. It would
be nice to see him catch more passes
next season with more yardage and TD's.
Tyler Lockett led the team in catches
with 78 however his catches, yardage and
touchdowns were down from 2022.
Tyler's salary hut is quite large next year
so we will have to see whether he returns
or not.

We will look at the defense next time on
the Seahawks. Be interesting when the
Seahawks name their next coach since there are other teams with vacancies
as well. Go Hawks!

Pete Carroll Out as Seahawks Head Coach

It was announced on Wednesday that
Pete Carroll is no longer the head coach
of the Seattle Seahawks.

In the press conference which took
place at 1 pm pacific time it was a
joint decision though Pete Carroll
still would like to be head coach
though he understood why he no
longer is not.

It came down to where the defense
wasn't as good as it used to be when
they were going for championships
and won one Super Bowl and was in
another as well.

Pete looks forward to what his partner
General Manager John Schneider can
do on his own to bring back a winning
tradition to Seattle. Pete will stay on
for now as an advisor. How that look
he has no idea. Obviously he will give
his input who will be next head coach.
Since Pete  is know as a defensive coach
will the Seahawks look to bring in an
offensive coach who is the opposite or
bring in another defensive coach?

Right now it is hard to tell whether the
offense or defense is better of the two.
Both of them need help so have to look
which has the most talent. I am sure
every fan would have an opinion on
that too.

Over the next few days or weeks we
will look at the talent on the Seahawks
along with what veterans won't be on the
team most likely in 2024.

We can look at whether Geno Smith
will return or not. He has high salary
cap hit whoever so does Tyler Lockett
both on offense. Defense they have
Jamal Adams as a big hit too. I wouldn't
be surprised if he is gone regardless
the kind of coach the Seahawks hire.
Stay tuned everyone. Go Hawks!

Washington Huskies Lose Championship

I am not going to use the name
many did to call the national
championship.

I know it was a disappointment
for Husky fans. Michael Penix
Jr. didn't play the game we were
hoping for by overthrowing passes
and having two interceptions.

Though they lost 34-13 to Michigan
it was nice the Huskies were there.
Most disappointing Penix was not
able to show how good he is or the
three wide receivers really are.

Will this make his stock go down in
the NFL draft we will see. Maybe
help out the Seahawks this way.
Remember Russell Wilson was a
third rounder.

All three wide receivers are not
expected back along with running
back Dillon Johnson. I wonder what
difference he would have made
being healthy.

Odunze should be a high first round
pick. Since he missed seven games
where will Jalen McMillan be in the
draft. He would be smart to come
back to Washington. Ja'Lynn Polk
where will he be in the draft to?
Both McMillan and Polk should
return if they are not figured to be
drafted in the first three or four
rounds. They could use another
year if so.

It will be interesting how next
season goes for the Huskies
in the Big Ten.  Go Dawgs!

Seahawks Win However Miss the Playoffs

The Seahawks  beat the Arizona Cardinals
Sunday afternoon  21-20 however the
Green Bay  Packers had to lose to the
Chicago Bears which didn't happen.
The season is now over for them.

The next preseason  will  begin in August
so a lot will happen before that. Many
will say is it time to replace Pete Carroll
or at least bring in a new defensive
coordinator. We will see how it goes
either way.
At the very  least the Seahawks  will need
to find players who can stop the run. The
Seahawks  were ranked # 30 against the
run giving up 134.1 yards per game. Next
to last in rushing touchdowns. Passing
defense the Seahawks were #19 and
overall  #27.  Had the Seahawks were
able to  be around #19 against the run
no doubt they would be in the playoffs.
I could see them move up to upper half
against the pass next season. Can they
move up against the run?

What they will need to do is improve
on the defensive line as well as linebacker.
Jordyn  Brooks was not healthy for most of
the season so him being healthy will help.
Bobby Wagner  is  slowing  down so if he
is back next season he should  play less
downs whether against the run or pass.
Questions will be about the offense as
well however we have time to dissect
as well.  The  Seahawks  were ranked
# 20 on offense. Let you know where
they can improve there too.

The Seahawks  beat  the Cardinals with
a 34-yard touchdown  by Tyler Lockett
at 1:54  remaining  in the game. The
Seahawks  made a two-point conversion
for the victory. If you looked at the stats
of the game only you would  have thought
the Cardinals won. They had the ball longer,
ran, and passed the ball for more yardage.
Stats don't tell the whole story.

Have a wonderful  off-season. Remember
the Seattle Kraken,  there is still  college
basketball and the  Mariners start to play
in March. We can't  forget the National
Championship  Monday night between
Washington  and Michigan. Go Dawgs!

Zags and Huskies Win while Cougars Lose

 The Gonaga Bulldogs won easily

as they beat San Diego. Zags
won 101-74. The Zags  had 55
points in the first half.

Ben Gregg had a career high 22 points
to lead the Zags men's basketball team.
Graham Ike had 15 of his 19 points in
the first half.  San Diego had 13 turnovers
that gave the Zags 19 points in the first
half. They shot 60 percent in the first
half as well.

The Zags will play once this coming week
on Thursday against Santa Clara on the
road. See how they do.

Washington Huskies beat Oregon State
Saturday afternoon 79-72 after a close
loss Thursday to Oregon at home. The
Huskies led by five in the first half. They
pulled away in the second half leading
by as much as 12 points. They let the
Beavers back into the game being ahead
by four under two minutes remaining.
The Huskies find it hard to put teams
away. Combination of scoring and not
enough good defense.

The Huskies are now 1-3 in Pac-12 play.
They could be easily 3-1. The Huskies
were led by Keion Brooks Jr. with 26
points. Shavir Wheeler had 16 points
while Wilhelm Breidenbach had 11 and
Korean Johnson had 10.  Wilhelm played
28 minutes as Braxton Meah was in
foul trouble once again. Wilhelm led
the Huskies with eight rebounds.

The Beavers had most of their scoring by
two players Jordan Pope who almost
single handed beat the Huskies had 29
points. He made 5 of 10 behind the 3
point line. Tyler Bilodeau had 21 points
and led Beavers with seven rebounds.

The Huskies  will play Arizona State at
home on Thursday. Arizona State is a
surprise going 4-0 in Pac-12 play so far.
A weird twist in the schedule they go
on the road Sunday at UCLA. They play
three road games in a row after three
at home. They only play Arizona and
USC once this season. Will help in
their record for sure.

The Oregon Ducks stay undefeated
though could have had at least one
loss. Saturday they beat the Cougars
89-84. The Ducks led by five at halftime
and final score stayed that way.

The Cougars were led by Myles Rice
with 22 points. Jaylen Wells came off
the bench with 15. Isaiah Watts had
10 points off the bench as well. In total
the Cougars hsd five players in double
figures. Usually would mean a win
for them. The Ducks won despite having
four players in double figures. They were
led by guard Brennan Rigsby with 18.

The Cougars will play USC on the road
Wednesday and then home against
Arizona on Saturday. They play Arizona
State and UCLA once this year.

The Seahawks are on the road Sunday
against Arizona Cardinals. They must
win to make the playoffs and the Green
Bay Packers must lose against Chicago
Bears. Best to the Seahawks.

Monday night the best game in Huskies
history in football going against
Michigan in Houston Texas. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Make Two Trades Friday

We were hoping for at least a couple
trades to happen soon and the Mariners
delivered however made them a better
team it is hard to know.

The first trade was the Mariners traded
left handed starter Robbie Ray who they signed as a free agent before the 2021
season to the San Francisco Giants for
former Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch
Haniger and riggt-handed pitcher Anthony
DeSclafani.

Mitch spent five years with the Mariners
before signing as a free agent with the
Giants a year ago.  He only had two healthy
seasons with the Mariners. They both were
great years so if he can stay healthy this
time around it will help Mariners. He only
appeared in 61 games last year for the
Giants.

Anthony DeSclafani like Haniger was hurt
as well. He pitched in only 24 games the
last two games. Anthony had a wonderful
season in 2012 where he went 13-7 with
an era 3.17. He would be good acquisition
if he can get back to that year. Unless the Mariners trade one of their starting five
he likely won't start too many games.
The Mariners could flip him in another
trade though.

Robbie Ray missed most of last season
with injury and could miss half of 2024
as well. Main reason of the trade is
having extra capital for the Mariners
to spend to acquire or sign another
player.

In the second trade the Mariners sent
infielder Jose Caballero to the Tampa
Bay Rays for outfielder/first baseman
Luke Daley. Caballero had a good start
in his rookie year for the Mariners however
slacked off in the second half ending
up batting .221. It is better for the most
part than utility players Dylan Moore and
Sam Haggerty did. Haggerty spent part
of last year in triple A Tacoma. The
Mariners need to find another utility
player unless they can find a regular
third baseman.

Luke Daley played in 119 games last
year for the Rays. He batted .249 with
19 home runs and 49 RBIs. Been
mentioned about Daley and Canzone
to platoon in left however they are
both left handed hitters.  Besides Haniger
and Julio Rodriguez right now Dylan
Moore is the only other right handed bat.
I really hope the Mariners go out and
pick up another right handed bat in the
outfield. We will see what Jerry Dipoto
hss in mind. Go M's.

Gonzaga, WSU Win Huskies Lose

Thursday was the opening to the
West Coast Conference schedule.
The Zags best Pepperdine at home
86-20. Though the Zags had a few
losses during the non-league schedule
they should be favored to win the WCC
once again.

The Zags got off to a great start going
on a 15-2 run at the beginning of the game.
They led 55-27 at halftime and cruised
the rest of the way. The Zags hsd five
players score in double figures including
four starters. Forward Graham Ike led
with 20 points and had seven rebounds
to.

The difference in the game was from the
field where the Zags shot 56.1 per cent
making 32 of 57 while Pepperdine was
cold making 19 of 58. The Zags controlled
the boards having 32 defensive rebounds
to Pepperdine's 19. Gonzaga will take on
San Diego at home on Saturday. Go Zags!

The Washington State Cougars had to
come from behind to win. They were
down by three at half time however
outscored the Beavers by ten in second
half. Final WSU 65 Oregon State 58.

The Cougars were led by the the red
hot Oscar Cluff off with 20 points.
He made 8 of 11 on the field.  He led
in rebounds with 8. Andrej Jakimovski
had 15 points all in the second half.
The Cougars take on Oregon on
Saturday at home. The Ducks are
undefeated beating the Huskies
76-74 in Seattle.

The Huskies are 0-3 now in conference
play as the Ducks are 3-0. The Huskies
led the first half by six points however
let the Ducks get even and ahead as
well. The Ducks scored under ten
seconds to win the game. Huskies Paul
Mulcahy had a good look to make
a 3 pointer to win the game however
he just missed it. The Ducks got the
rebound with just over a second to
seal the win.

The Huskies have played
well despite losing the first three games
in the Pac 12. They take on Oregon State
on Saturday at home. Need to string
several victories in a row. Go Dawgs!

Kraken and Huskies Win On New Year's

I thought when the Seattle Kraken won
Monday afternoon  at T-Mobile Park
over Las Vegas  3-0 it was a good sign
for the Huskies in the Sugar Bowl  which
turned out right.

It was a big win for the Kraken beating
the Golden Knights  who were last year's
Stanley  Cup champions and are tied
with Vancouver as the leaders in the
Pacific division.  Vancouver had a poor
season year has been a big surprise.

The Kraken got off to a poor start
have played well of late. They are
15-14-9. They are 4th place in the Pacific
division and just outside of the playoffs.
They have received points in their last
nine games. A shutout  like this against
one of the best teams in the league  is
a good sign and hopefully keep them
going.
The Huskies beat the Texas Longhorns in
the semifinals for the college national
championship 37-31. It was a close
game with it going down to the last
play of the game. Dillon Johnson was
hurt under a minute left in the game
for the Huskies so the clock had to
stop. Dillon  had not been  injured the
the clock would have run down meaning
the Huskies could have kneeled on
fourth down instead the Huskies  had
to punt to Texas which gave them a chance
to win. The Huskies  defense was able to
hold the Longhorns including a ball being
hit out of the receiver's hand in the end
zone with no time left in the game.

The Huskies now play Michigan  in the
National Championship game  against
Michigan next Monday in Houston.
Michigan beat Alabama  27-20  before
the Huskies in the Rose Bowl. Another
close game as the game went into
overtime. Michigan is favored by five
points, however, the Huskies are used
to being underdogs. Go Dawgs!
