Seahawks Thursday

The Seahawks  made their 53 man roster
on Tuesday  though a few changes happened
on Wednesday. A player isn't  safe if he is
one of the last on the roster.

In total the Seahawks  have 26 players on
defense, 24 on offense plus the field goal
kicker, punter and long snapper.

Have a breakdown  on  positions.  Of course
Geno Smith  and Drew Lock as quarterbacks.
Number three Holton Ahlers is on the practice
which was named on Wednesday.  No Seahawks
were picked up on waivers or who were released.

Running back the Seahawks have four including
the two Zach Charbonnet and  Kenneth McIntosh
who were drafted this year. In fact all ten players
the Seahawks  drafted made the team.

Wide receiver  going with six. Undrafted college
free agent  Jake Bobo out of UCLA  who had an
outstanding  camp made the team. Probably be
on special  teams  and make an occasional catch.
Tight end the three from last season.

The offensive line has nine. No big surprises there.
The backup  tackles and guards will  have  to  play
both sides. Defensive  line goes with six while
linebacker is ten including the edge rusher.

Cornerbacks going with six. Riq Woolen and first
round pick Devon Witherspoon will be two of the
starters. Michael  Jackson  was expected to be the
third however er didn't  play well in the preseason
games so could go with one of the other three.

Safety there will be four. Jamal Adams who missed
most of last season  is listed on the roster though
he could miss a game or two or more we will see.
Though a safety  we could see him playing as a edge
rusher. Julian Love who they signed as a free agent
will likely start initially at safety.

On Wednesday  the Seahawks  claimed two rookies
off of waivers Kyu Blu Kelly  cornerback from Baltimore
and Drake Thomas from the Raiders.

On Friday we will  look at the Washington Huskies and
WSU Cougars  depth charts.

Mariners Win After Bad Start

The Seattle Mariners were able to win
the game Wednesday afternoon after
getting off to a terrible start.

Bryce Miller had a poor start giving up
three runs in the second inning however Teoscar Hernandez hit a three run homer
in the third to tie the game. Teoscar has
been hitting well in the last couple months.

Bryce was able to recover not to give
up anymore runs and last six innings
without giving up another run. It shows
how determined he is starting.

No scoring happened again.until the
7th when the A's were able to score
one run off Justin.Topa has been pitching
well. In fact this was his first run giving up
in 15 games and 3 in the last 30 games.
Say we can live with it.

The bottom of the seventh the Mariners
scored two runs on a single by JP Crawford. Neither team scored the rest of the way. Final M's 5 A's 4

They have Thursday off then weekend in
New York then onto Cincinnati.

Mariners Lose First Time to Oakland

I am sure most of us thought the Mariners
would sweep  this series against the A's
however it wasn't  meant to  be.

The Mariners  were without starting  pitcher
George Kirby  who was scratched a couple
hours before the game. Also, Julio Rodriguez
was scratched  a few minutes before the game
for a minor injury in warm-ups. During the
game in the Ty France  had to leave as well.
Both Julio and Ty are day to day. Wednesday's
game is in the afternoon  so whether both or
either one we will have to see.

Luke Weaver  pitched in place of Kirby.  His
first start and third appearance since being
signed by the Mariners.  Weaver gave up a
solo home run in the first and a two-run
variety  in the second inning. The only  runs
the A's got in the game. Unfortunately  without
Julio and Ty the Mariners  couldn't muster
much of an offense. How we have experienced
the Mariners  offense they don't do well when
Julio isn't doing well or not in the lineup. Julio
is the one running the  train so to speak.

Weaver was able to last going into  the  fourth inning
getting two outs before existing. The bullpen did
a fine job the rest  of  the  way. The four relievers
gave up only two hits, no walks and struck out three.
I am sure most fans thought the offense could muster
some runs to win but not on Tuesday.

Bryce Miller is scheduled to start Wednesday afternoon.
Not knowing whether Julio or Ty will be in the lineup.
The Mariners  do have Thursday off so both should be
available  Friday in New York against the Mets.  Hopefully
the  Mariners  can start another good winning streak.

Mariners Continue To Win

The Seattle Mariners offense continue
to do well and the pitching as well
beating the Oakland A's 7-0.

The Mariners should sweep this series
however we will see. Oakland only have
38 wins which means they lack pitching
and hitting. Always here teams will win
60 games no matter how good or bad
they are in a season. In this case won't
happen with the A's. Makes me wonder
how long it will take the A's to rebuild
if they are actually doing it.

The Mariners were fortunate not being
that bad during their rebuilding. Even
in all the years of being a bad team they
didn't lose over one hundred games to
often. Trouble for the many years the
Mariners won in the high 70s or low 80s
and sometimes just missing out of the
playoffs. Being the only team not to
win a World Series hasn't helped either.
We hope this is the year to get over it.
They certainly have the pitching and the
offense over the last couple months
show what they are capable of.

JP Crawford led off  the Mariners first
inning with his 12th home run of the
season. Julio Rodriguez hit one in the
game as well.  Crawford scored three
times on two hits and a walk. Julio
had four hits which was the same number
the A's hit for the game. He scored
three times and drove in three as well.
Teoscar Hernandez continued his hot
hitting having two hits and two RBIs.
Eugenio and Ty France had a couple
hits as well. The Rangers and Astros
both won keeping close to the
Mariners as well.

George Kirby will be on the mound
Tuesday night. Should have another
win.

Seahawks released five players on
Monday bringing down to 78 heading
into Tuesday.  They have to be down
to 53 players on Tuesday. They will
be able to add back 16 to the practice
squad on Wednesday. We will whether
there will be any surprises on the roster
and who don't make it. Stay tuned!

Seahawks Monday

The Seattle Seahawks  now will have to
trim their roster down to the opening
roster. On Sunday they put seven players
on waivers. To be honest only two of the
players I even heard of. One was was
former Washington Huskies running
back Wayne Taulapapa. Most likely
these seven won't  be  on the practice
squad with the Seahawks.  They could be
on another team's  practice squad though.

There will probably be about twenty other
players waived or released on Monday and
Tuesday.  The practice squad  is  made up
of 16 players. In the past several years
the opening roster had two quarterbacks.
Now the rules have changed where the
third quarterback can be available in case
of injury.  I am not sure whether the third
qb is on the practice squad or not like they
used to be or they are on the opening roster
and are exempt. I  guess we will find out.

I never really paid attention to  players who
we're picked up during training  camp while
others were released. I  figured for the most
part they wouldn't  be  making the team at cut
down.

On Wednesday  the Seahawks  can set the players
who will  make the practice  squad.  It will depend
a lot on who maybe  picked up by other teams.
The Seahawks  may release a player on Tuesday
and then resign them at a lower price to fit under
the salary  cap. They will  have several players
who will be added to  injured reserve as well. This
means they won't  be  able  to  play in several games.

There probably  not many positions they won't have
to do this however they will pick up up a couple or
three possibly who were released from other teams.
I could see that happening  on the defensive line
and wide receiver. They could so on the offensive
line as well but most likely  not. I  am sure they know
the nine or ten players they will keep on the offensive
line. If they do pick one up for the offensive line it
will likely  be someone  who can play tackle and guard.
Go Hawks!

Mariners Sweep Royals

Sunday's  game  wasn't  as easy as the other two
games, however  Luis Castillo pitched a wonderful
game going seven innings  and giving up one hit.

Both teams scored their runs on home runs.  The
Mariners played pretty  good  defense as well. Both
Suarez and Cade Marlowe  made good plays to
help out the victory.  As manager  Scott  Servais  said
on post game show it isn't  ever easy to sweep another
team.

Final Seattle  3 Kansas City  2

Julio Rodriguez  hit a solo home run in the second
inning and Teoscar  Hernandez  had a two-run  shot.
Both players  are  playing  outstanding ball as of
late. Some fans are wondering  why Hernandez
hasn't  been  signed to extension. That is a good
question  and he likes it here it seems. Having an
outfield of Jarred Kelenic, Hernandez, Julio Rodriguez,
Cade Marlowe  and  Dominic Canzone   next season
sounds like a good idea. Kelenic, Marlowe and Canzone
all bat lefthanded. Marlowe and Canzone  can dh
when not in the field. The same can be said of Hernandez
as well.  Most likely Kelenic  and Julio will be in the
field  most of the  time.  Canzone can play some first base
as well.  This will help if Ty France  is injured or needs a
day off. The Mariners  can play Dylan Moore in the outfield
against lefties  when needed.

Kalenic looks to be back sometime in September. Most likely
the second week. This means Canzone  and Marlowe can
pinch hit or dh. Whatever the case this is a good problem
to have. If Hernandez  isn't  back next year the Mariners need
to pick up another right handed bat for the outfield and or
first base.  The Mariners  don't  need any more pitching unless
it is to add to the  bullpen. Robbie Ray  will be back at some point
but most likely  around the all-star  break.  Marco Gonzales should
be back and available at the beginning of the season.  What do
the Mariners  do with him is the question.  We will  see won't we.

Second base sounds good right now with Josh Rojas, Jose Caballero
and Dylan Moore.  Do the Mariners  still need to upgrade  the position.
We will see what the  Mariners  want to do there.  Catcher we have
Cal Raleigh and Tom Murphy it looks like. Have to figure Harry  Ford
won't  likely  be on the team until  2025 unless he does some amazing
next spring.  The Mariners could start next season with three catchers
once again if Harry  is  ready.  His versatility  could mean he plays
other positions as well.  It would be interesting to see during the fall
whether  the  Mariners  will try him at other positions in instructional
league or whatever  they call it now.  It would be interesting to see
him at second base during the fall.  Go M's.

Seahawks Lose Final Preseason Game

The Seahawks  played Saturday  afternoon  in
Green Bay  losing to the Packers 19-15.

The early part of the game they didn’t play
well at all. Again this game was played mostly
by the reserves.  The Seahawks  were leading
late into the game when the Packers scored a
touchdown  just under to take the lead and
final score.

The Seahawks  did a good job going down
the field though the game ended in an interception
by the Packers. Drew Lock played most of the
game at quarterback  with Holton Ahlers coming
in for the final drive. Depending  on your opinion
Drew Lock  may have deserved to come in the final
drive instead.

We wouldn't  see Geno Smith until the opener in
two weeks  on September  10 against the Rams
at home. I  guess we will  find out whether a good
choice or not to have played Geno or not.  This
would be the same for the other starters.

This coming Tuesday  the Seahawks  will  have to
go down to 63 man roster. Depending on the waiver
wire the last few players could change as well.  The
Seahawks  will  have the 16 man practice squad as
well. How that will be made up depends who they
cut are picked up  by other teams or not. I  am  sure
we will see several  players  placed on the injured
list as well.  Go Hawks!

Mariners Win Again

The Seahawks win again and take another series.  The Mariners not only had the
bats going with seven home runs and 233 hits Logan Gilbert had went seven innings.
After Friday nights game using six relievers
it was important for Gilbert to.go deep
into the game. The Mariners have had a
lot of that lately.

The Mariners scored of their fifteen runs
in the third inning. In all the Mariners scored runs in six straight innings. Gilbert
gave up one only one run on the day.

The Royals scored another in the eight
inning. Luke Weaver got the first two
batters out before giving up two hits and a run. He does look like the real thing however we will have to see whether
it lasts.

The Mariners again are still in first place.
and tied with Rangers. The Rangers and Astros both won on Saturday so the M's
and the Rangers are still tied for first
and the Astro's one game behind. Let's
see what happens on Sunday.

Guess What! Mariners Are Tied For First

It doesn't seem that long ago the
Seattle Mariners were ten and a half
games behind the Texas Rangers.
Well Friday night the Mariners beat
the Kansas City Royals 7-5.

The Texas Rangers and Houston
Astros both lost. The Mariners now
tied with the Rangers. Both of the
teams have been losing while the
Mariners win.

JP Crawford hit a home run in the
first inning followed by a hit by Julio
who ended up scoring a run on Cal
Raleigh hit. Crawford, Suarez and Raleigh
each had three hits. Suarez had three
RBIs in the game. Julio had a couple
hits along with Canzone. In all the M's
had 16 hits.

The Royals scored three times to take
the lead temporarily in the second.
The Mariners scored two runs in the
fourth and fifth inning. The Royals
scored two in the seventh to make
it interesting. The Mariners added
a run in the eighth and there was the
ball game.

The game was on Apply TV Friday
night of the week. I wonder how
many Mariners fans saw the game.
I certainly wasn't  one of them.

Bryce Miller didn't have one of his better games going only four innings. This
meant the Mariners used six relievers.
Most of the guys did well. Matt Brash
was the one who have up the two
runs in the seventh inning on three
hits. Tayler Saucedo came in to get
the final out. Brash has certainly has
had his up and downs.

The other relievers didn't give up a
hit except Andre Munoz in the 9th.
Logan Gilbert goes Saturday followed
by Luis Castillo on Sunday. The M's
have three  against Oakland.

Sports Weekend Coming Up

The Seattle Mariners begin a three
game series Friday night against the
Kansas City Royals.

Both the Astros and Rangers lost so
the Mariners gained a half game.
The Mariners are now tied with the
Astros in second and are a game
behind the Rangers. The Mariners
beat the Royals tonight and the
Rangers lose the Mariners will be tied
for first place. The Astros win as well
then there will be a three way tie for
first place. We have to say it will be
exciting race to the finish line.

The Seahawks play their final preseason
game Saturday morning pacific time
at Green Bay against the Packers. The
Seahawks have a few injuries so be
interesting to see who plays. Plus how
much Geno Smith and starting line will
play.

The Washington Huskies and Washington
State Cougars get ready for their season
openers next Saturday.  It is the beginning
of the last season of the Pac-12 though
they both play non-league games to start
out.

The Huskies will be home against Boise
State starting at 12:30 pm on ABC. The
Cougars will be on the road at Colorado
State at 4:00 pm on the CBS Sports Network.

So at this time next week the Mariners
could be in first place while the Huskies
get ready for the openers.

Mariners End Winning Streak

The Mariners lost Wednesday afternoon to the White Sox 5-4. We have to remember they took two out of three however they

had the opportunity to win this game.

The White Sox led the game most of
the way however the Mariners scored
three runs in the top of the ninth to take
the lead 4-3. Bottom of the ninth Chicago
was able to tie the game.

The trouble the Mariners have had as of
late they couldn't score in the 10th. Josh
Rojas had his third hit of the game however
Mike Ford was only able to go to third. The
Mariners didn't have any bench players
available as they were already used so
couldn't pinch run for Ford. The only
option might of been to use a pitcher to
pinch run. This is another reason I don't
like the Mariners using too many pinch hitters.

Tim Anderson was the runner on second
for the White Sox he ended stealing third
and then came home on a throwing error
by JP Crawford. Game over.

Now the Mariners have Thursday off and
come home to play three against the
Kansas City Royals. The Mariners have a
shot to sweep this series or at least take
two out of three. Mentality take two out
of three the rest of the way however let's
sweep when the opportunity arises like
in this series. Go M's.

Mariners Make It Eight Straight

Before the Mariners played the White
Sox Tuesday night the Sox made changes
to the front office. They are going have
to make moves during the off-season.
Whether the Mariners will want to take
a player or two we will have to see.

The Mariners won 6-3 Tuesday night.
As expected Bryan Woo came off
the injured list. The Mariners made a
couple of other moves on the pitching
staff. Woo went four innings in his first
time back going four innings giving
up two hits and one run.

The Mariners used six relievers mostly with
success. The Mariners we hoping Gabe
Speier would close out the ninth but he
surrendered a couple hits so Andre Munoz
had to come in to get the last out. Actually
not a bad combination to close out a game
depending on the lead the Mariners. I
would do the same with Matt Brash. If
the Mariners can use Munoz to get one
out over a few games it would keep
him sharp and not over used. This would
depend how long much the bullpen is
being used. Since the Mariners are facing
teams that are not as good as they are
this is the way to go.

Josh Rojas continues to have a hot bat.
He had another home run with a runner
on base. In his last seven games he is
batting .321. He the answer next year
at second base.  He certainly wants to
be.

Mike Ford had a couple hits in the game
and drove in a run. Now hitting .250 in
his last seven games. Prior to.that he
only had one hit in 22 at bats. Not sure
he is the answer at dh in the long term.
When Jarred Kelenic returns I wouldn't
be surprised if Ford is released or sent
to Tacoma. Marlowe or Canzone can dh
against righties when not in the field.
Another question for the off-season
what the Mariners do in the outfield.
Go M's.

Mariners Blow Out White Sox

The Seattle Mariners  have  now won
seven games in a row and another
opening game of a series  beating the
White Sox on the road 14-2.

Though very impressive  it would
have been nice to save some of those
runs for another day.

Cal Raleigh  hit  two home runs and
had six rbi's.  In total  the Mariners
had four home runs. Teo Hernandez
and Dominic Canzone had the other
two. Hernandez had three rbi's.

Every  player in the lineup had at
least one hit in the game except
Mike Ford and JP Crawford who
returned to the lineup coming
off a concussion.  Crawford
did walk twice and scored both
times.

The Mariners  gave Julio the night
off. I am sure most fans thought
why being the hottest hitter on the
planet. It was because of a minor
injury Sunday in the outfield. A
good thing they didn't  need him.

The Mariners  needed Luis Castillo
to go deep into the game since they
used seven relievers after Emerson
Hancock had to  leave after the game
Sunday with shoulder strain. Luis went
seven innings which they hoped for.
He gave up one run which was in the
first inning after the Mariners  had five..

Tuesday's  game Bryan Woo  comes off
the injured list to start.. Hopefully he
will be able to go at least five and six
would be better. Hancock was placed
on the injured list. Hopefully  not bad
enough where he can return after ten
days.

The Mariners are now two games
behind the Rangers as they lost
to the Diamondbacks on the road
4-3 on the road. Houston beat
the Red Sox so still half a game
ahead of the Mariners.

Seahawks Monday

The Seahawks have one more preseason
game remaining this coming Saturday .
The game will be at 10 am Pacific time.

The Seahawks  may go undefeated
in the preseason. Besides seeing
the players who make the team we will
see the Green  Bay  Packers now
without Aaron Rodgers which is
sort of weird.

The regular season  the Seahawks
start off with three games they
should win against LA Rams  at home
followed by the Detroit  Lions
on the road and Carolina Panthers
at home.

Starts to get a bit tougher after that.
Playing the Giants and Bengals on the road.
I could see the Seahawks winning ten games
however they have to  beat the Rams
and Cardinals twice. Also split the 49ers.

For the Seahawks  to win 11 games they
will have to have an upset. This would be
on the road. Beating either the  Giants
or the Bengals will help. If somehow they
won both of those games they will have
very good season.

Watching the final preseason  will give us
a better idea of the Seahawks. The first
half may show most of the starters. The
second half those who are trying to make
the opening roster. Of the new guys we
have our favorites to make the roster.

Unless he falls flat on his face or gets
hurt undrafted free agent wide receiver
Jake Bobo will likely  make the team.
The Seahawks likely  will  go with six
wide receivers. So who will be the other
two who makes the backups besides
Bobo.

Will Kenny Walker play on Saturday.  If not
does that mean he is not a go when the
season  begins. We will find out.

Just like wide receiver  the Seahawks will
likely  go with six cornerbacks. Safety
might be four  or five. At this point Jamal
Adams may not start on the opening roster.
Inside Linebacker go with four or five. The
edge rusher which is outside linebacker/
defensive end could be five. The defensive
tackles go for four or five.

The offensive line the Seahawks  may go
with nine or ten. All depends whether the
ninth and tenth can play either tackle or
guard. Though they are not high draft  picks
someone  who can play tackle and guard
is valuable to take the last spot. This depends
how good the second stringers are.

The Seahawks  likely  will go with three tight ends
once again. Being run first is a good reason and
all three can catch the ball to.

With the offense  you have the quarterback and
running back. Five offensive linemen  which
makes seven. Three wide receivers and a tight
end to make eleven. At some point may take
out one of the three wide receivers and add
another tight end.  Going with three tight ends
in the game means one receiver.  May happen
occasionally but likely  not  often. Could see
when the Seahawks  want to run the ball on
short yardage. They could mix it up by throwing
to one of the tight ends.

On defense  they will go with two defensive
tackles, two inside linebackers and two edge
rushers. This means five defensive  backs.

They will start getting the opening roster next
Sunday or Monday. They cut down to 52
doesn't  mean  it won't  change before the
Rams game. The Seahawks  can see who
is open on the market and put players on
the practice squad  as well as injured reserve.
Go Hawks!

Mariners Sweep Astros

Sundays game wasn't easy however
the Mariners beat the Astros 7-6. The
only game of the series that gave the Mariners trouble.

The Mariners scored two runs each
of the first three innings. They scored
the seventh run in the fifth.

Emerson Hancock who started the
game had to leave after the second
because of a shoulder strain. We
hope he will be OK.

Tayler Saucedo who has pitched
well for the Mariners had an off
day giving up five runs without
getting an out. As manager Scott
Servais said everyone has a bad
day and the rest of the guys helped
him out.

Julio did get one hit on the day
and scored a run. Eugenio.Suarez
hit a home run in the second inning.
The Mariners now go Chicago to
start a series against the White Sox.

Dylan Moore continues to hit and Dominquic Canzone each had four
hits. Only Teoscar didn't get a hit
however did walk and score a.run.

JP Crawford is expected to be
activated Monday. How hot Julio
has been will he stay in the lead off
spot. We will find out  stay tuned.

Go M's

Seahawks Win Preseason Game 2

The Seattle Seahawks  went with all three
quarterbacks Saturday night in their win
over the Dallas Cowboys 22-14.

I was a bit surprised  however Geno Smith
played the first quarter  then Drew Lock
played most of the second quarter.  Rookie
Holton Ahlers came in late second quarter
and played the rest of the way.Ahlers likely
be on the practice squad.

Geno and Drew threw the same amount of
passes six and completed five. The difference
Lock had more passing yardage. I wouldn't
have a problem  with Lock starting but likely
won't  happen unless Geno gets hurt or under
performs. Hopefully  Lock will be able to
play some during the season.  This would mean
the Seahawks either were scoring a lot or being
beaten a lot. The Seahawks  like being in close
games or at least that is how they turn out.

Next Saturday in Green Bay likely to see Geno
go the first half followed by Lock in the third
quarter and Ahlers in the 4th. We will see more
of the starters to in this one. Second half will
be those who are trying to  make the team.
It doesn't  matter  who wins however seeing
Geno have success will be nice. Most likely the
majority of the cuts will be after next week's
game.  Go Hawks!

Mariners Take Down Astros

Right now the Mariners are taking
care of business against the Astros
beating them.10-3 Saturday evening.
Game ended about time to the start
of Seahawks vs Cowboys. We will get
into it later.

Julio had four hits on the night. He broke
a major league record getting 17 hits
in four games. Shows when Julio is hot
he really is. All his hits were singles.

The Mariners did have home runs. Dylan
Moore had two home runs and driving in
three. In the 5th and 9th innings. Sam
Haggerty who was recalled when JP
Crawford went on the concussion injured
list had a home run in the 9th.  Speaking
of Crawford he is on a rehab assignment
at Everett. We could see him back on
Sunday however an early game we
could see him in Chicago on.Monday
instead. See who gets sent down to
Tacoma.  Sunday game will be at
10 am on the Peacock network.

The Mariners scored in every inning
except three. The 4th, six and seventh
innings had no runs.

Logan Gilbert went six inning giving up two runs both homers. He now has  a 11-5
record. Pretty good I say. The offense
allowed where the primary pitchers
didn't have to go. Emerson Hancock
goes on Sunday. Hopefully he will be
able to go at least five innings or six.

The Mariners are now four games
behind the Texas Rangers and a game
and a half behind the Astros. Mariners
sweep the series it will be really nice.
They have a real chance to win the division
now if they continue playing this way.

It is half time where the Seahawks lead the
Cowboys 17-7. Geno Smith stsrted the game. Drew Lock played most of the
second quarter. He is looking good.

There will be more next time.

Seahawks Saturday

The Seattle  Seahawks  will be playing the
Dallas Cowboys  on Saturday night.

Mostly  we will be watching rookies and
backups again during the game. Some
players we might be watching for the last
time for the Seahawks. Next week likely
see the starters in the first half.  At least
I  hope so anyway. Why I  say that the
Seahawks  sometimes  get off slowly on
the season.

This year the early  schedule is such that
the Seahawks  should get off to  a good track.
They must if they plan to make the playoffs
since the schedule will get tougher after the
first four games. This especially true of their
road schedule.

Tonight we should see how Drew Lock performs
again at quarterback. Expect Geno Smith to be
the starter however it will be good to have
a good  backup as well in case of injury or Geno
doesn't  do as well as last season.

Again it will come down to how healthy the
running backs stay and how they perform.
We know the wide receivers will be excellent
however the better they do is how the running
game goes. Don't  want to depend on throwing
the ball 30 times or more. Also a good running
game keeps  the defense off the field. We don't
want a tired defense.

Against the Cowboys  it will be nice to see how
the backup running backs and receivers do. Also
on defense see they can slow down the Cowboys
offense. See stop of the running game in the
first half instead of second half last week. Go Hawks!

Mariners Shutout Astros

Friday evening the Seattle  Mariners  beat the
Astros 2-0.

Bryce Miller  showed again  what we hope
to see in the future as a Mariner. He went
six and one-thirds innings. He only struck
out two batters while walking one and
two hits. He showed even striking not too
many batters He is capable  of  going into
the seventh inning.

The Astros  showed though not striking
out often the Mariners can take care of
them. Justin Topa has been a big surprise
struck out only one in one and two-thirds
innings. Munoz got the save despite giving
up two hits and not striking out batters either.

Julio continues doing well  on this road trip.
He had four hits including a home run in
the third inning. Julio tied a Mariners record
by having nine straight  hits. Julio is now
hitting .274 the highest on the team and the
home run was his 21st of the season.  The
Mariners right have the third wild card spot.
Julio will need to continue  his hitting with
other  players contributing.

Mike Ford who has been struggling at the plate
lately hit a home run in the sixth inning. It was
his 12th since being recalled. Though he may
not be a success at dh however showing his
power  occasionally  is good. It would be nice
to see either Marlowe or Canzone at dh against
righties for the most part. Ford has hit well against
the Astros  so using at dh in this series would be
fine. Going forward I  would have him in the
lineup against righties  that are four or fifth in
there rotation.  He gets hot then we will see about
getting more playing  time.  The next series against
the White Sox maybe start time at dh once since
it is a three game series.

Logan Gilbert  goes Saturday.  Hopefully  we  see
the one we did a few starts. Playing a team like
Astros  we should see Gilbert close to his best.
We do so the Mariners  have  another shot of
winning even if the offense  scores only a few
runs. Go M's.

Seahawks Jordyn Brooks

This week inside linebacker  Jordyn
Brooks came off the pup list. This
means he is going to start practicing
for the Seahawks.

This doesn't  mean he will be playing
in the next two presentations games
either Saturday  against the Dallas
Cowboys or the following week
against the Packers.

Brooks may not start the season
for the Seahawks  however the
good news he should be available
sooner than later.

Even on his return Brooks will
gradually easy into his playing
time. The return of Bobby Wagner
certainly helps the Seahawks  work
Brooks into action. When he is
ready he and Bobby Wagner will
start in the two inside linebackers
spots.

An easy way to ease Brooks in will
have him play when the team is
only going with one inside linebacker.
This will likely  happen only in passing
downs. It isn't clear how often that
will happen anyway.

Bobby Wagner  being a year older and
a year removed from the Seahawks we
have no idea how much playing time
he will do. I  am  sure  his playing time
will be during those times for his strengths.
The same would be for Brooks to.

It is possible  both will only  play on running
plays have someone else on passing downs.
One thing for sure neither Brooks or Wagner
will play all defensive downs. I would say
to alternate both of them each time the
defense comes in. Both having the most
experience  on defense. This would help
the Seahawks going into the fourth quarter
where both are refreshed and  play in a
close game.

We look forward  to  seeing  both Brooks
and Wagner playing at the same time
though it could be until six or seven games
into the season.  The inside linebackers
spots are very important to the Seahawks
defense so having the best ones in at any
time is important to. Go Hawks!

Mariners Take Series Behind Julio

The Seattle Mariners  beat the Royals
in the final game of the series on
Thursday  afternoon  6-4.

The Royals  made this game interesting
as well.  The Mariners won the game because
Julio Rodriguez  was five for five with five
rbi's.  In the eight inning with the Royals
ahead 4-2 Julio hit a three-run homer to
put the Mariners  ahead. Always seems Julio
has some part to play when the Mariners  win.

Cal Raleigh  hit a solo home run in the top of
the 9th to give the Mariners  a  little  space to
make them have a little margin going into the
bottom of the 9th. Matt Brash  pitched the
9th and gave up no hits and struck out one.
Brash and Munoz will be two great guys
if they are able to be both closers. Depending
how often are needed Brash  may pitch the
8th and Munoz the 9th. Brash be used when
Munoz needs a day off.

Toronto  had the day off so the Mariners are
now a half game behind the Blue Jays  for the
last spot for the wild card spot. The Mariners
go to Houston  to take on the Astros. If they
can take the series whether sweeping or two
out of three it will be a good sign. They finish
the road trip  against  the White Sox. They
could be dangerous  like the Royal with nothing
to lose. I  would still take the same outcome
even if the Mariners  have trouble with them to.

Bryce Miller  starts the opener on Friday night.
Miller will have to be careful since the Astros
have power and Miller  has given up home
runs recently.  Should be an entertaining series
with the Mariners  winning hopefully.  Go M's

Mariners Win Another Wild One

The series against the Royals in
Kansas City has been wild however the second game in a row they won after
losing the first game of series.

Final. Mariners 6  Royals 5

The big difference in this one the Mariners
scored three runs in the first inning while
the Royals scored a single run in the first three innings. Cal Raleigh had his 21st home run of the season.

Luis Castillo hsd a little trouble early in
the ball however was able to go seven
innings giving up four runs. Matt Brash
pitched the ninth giving up a run but
was to get the final out to save the game

Ty France who got only one hit however
walked three times to help out. Julio had four hits on the night and drove in two runs
including one in the ninth. Jose Caballero
had three hits but only could score once.

Let's see George Kirby have another
great game Thursday afternoon. Right
now he looks to be the ace. No matter
how it looks just want another victory
before heading to Houston. I hope that
series will be as wild as this one. It
would be nice if the Mariners can take
at least two out of the three before
going to Chicago. Go M's.

Mariners End Skid

The Mariners ended the short three
game losing streak beating the Royals
10-8.

The Mariners didn't make it easy on themselves. They scored seven runs
in the 4th inning with four home runs.
In the 5th Hancock gave up five runs
including a grand slam. I guess you
could call it growing pains.

In the 9th inning the Mariners allowed
the Royals to score three runs to tie
at 8-8.  None of the runs were earned
because of a throwing error by Josh
Rojas.

Andre Munoz was the pitcher in the
ninth giving JP two hits and walks.
Though the runs weren't earned I
am wondering like most should he
be the Mariners closer right now.
The answer could be the same for
Matt Brash. Tayler Saucedo pitched
the tenth inning giving up no runs.
Wonder whether he should get a shot
at being the closer.

Ty France had four hits on the day drove
in the two runs in the 10th for the win.
Teoscar Hernandez went five for five.
See these two can continue on Wednesday.
The win didn't  make a difference other than not losing ground as the other main
teams for the playoffs all won too.

Luis Castillo starts Wednesday evening.
Hope he can get back to his old self.
Thursday will be a day game then onto
Houston. George Kirby starts Thursday
to close out the series against the Royals.
Hopefully the end the Mariners would win
three straight. Go M's.

Royals Walk Off

The Seattle Mariners were no-hit
and perfect game for 6 and 2/3
innings. Salvador Perez hits a
three run homer in the first inning.
Much like Mike Trout don't want
to.pitch to him.

The Mariners were able to come back
to tie the game and to take the lead
in the  ninth inning 6-5. The Royals
were meant to win. Salvador Perez
hit a sacrifice fly to tie. They won
on a bunt.  Julio had four runs batted
in to get the game ahead. Josh Rojas
has started to hit and make a difference.

Final Royals 7 Mariners 6

Mariners always seems like after playing
they go into a losing streak themselves.
They have lost three straight after winning
eight in a row. Hoping this ends Tuesday
night. Emerson Hancock makes his second
start for the Mariners. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Final To Orioles

Sunday the final game of the series
the Mariners lost again in extra innings
to the Baltimore  Orioles 5-3 in ten
innings. Now they go to Kansas City
for four games followed by three
against the Astros  and White Sox.

Not sure what their record is in extra
innings this year  however not as good
in past seasons recently.  Again the
Mariners  couldn't  drive in a runner
from second base with no outs.

Two players who were in the Paul Sewald
trade were the ones who scored the
three runs. Josh Rojas scored a run in the
third and fifth inning. Suarez drove him
home with a single then Julio a double.
Dominic Canzone hit a solo home run
to tie the game in the 9th with two outs.
The Orioles had gone ahead in the top
of the 9th. Orioles centerfielder Cedric
Mullins hit a home run with the runner
on base to win in the 10th.

The Mariners  will have Logan Gilbert
going Monday night in Kanasas City.
Go M's.

Saturday, August 12, 2023

Mariners Lose in Ten

George Kirby pitched a marvelous
game however the Orioles pitching
matched it. Kirby went nine innings
giving up only three hits. In his fashion
had no walks while striking out seven
and gave up no runs.

The Orioles won in the 10th inning
with Andre Munoz giving up a hit
and run. Now the Mariners will see
about winning and taking the series
and starting a new win Streak.

This was somewhat appropriate
since King Felex Hernandez was inducted
into the Mariners Hall of Fame becoming
the eleventh member. Felex lost a lot of
low scoring games with the Mariners
so he knows how Kirby feels. This was
one of those games where the team
that lost didn't deserve it.
Go.M's.

Mariners Doing It Again

The Seattle Mariners continue to be hot.
The winningest team in.the majors since
July 1.  The Mariners are playing the team
with best record in American League the
Baltimore this weekend.

The Mariners hitters pounded the ball
hard in the first inning however came away with only two runs with a homer by Cal Raleigh withe Eugenio Suarez on the
bases.

Julio Rodriguez hit a ball hard leading off
the Mariners side of the first inning.
It looked like it would be a home run
however Mullins the Orioles center
caught it to steal from Julio. It didn't
stop Julio since he hit a three run homer
in the 4th inning. The Mariners scored
two more runs to make it five that inning.
Ty France hit a solo homer in the 5th to
give Mariners a 8-1 lead. Julio who
had a fantastic day drove in the Mariners
final run in the sixth inning. The Orioles
scored a single run in the top of the
ninth to make the final 9-2.

Luis Castillo who has had his ups and
downs had an up day going six innings.
Gave up.a solo homer in the 4th inning.
He gave up only one other hit on the
night. When Luis is hot can't find a
better pitcher. He had two walks however
struck out eight.

The Mariners used three relievers each
going an inning each. Lefty Tayler Saucedo
gave up no hits or runs while striking
out one.  Ryder Ryan who was called up from Tacoma made his major league
debut. Likely a bit nervous he didn't
give up a hit did walk a batter however
struck out two in the 8th. Trent Thornton
who recently was called up from
Tacoma after being acquired from
the Toronto Blue Jays just before the
trading deadline gave up two hits, walked
one and struck out two.

Sure seems whether it is a starter
or a reliever they have found or
brought up for the most part has
hsd success this season. Jerry
Dipoto says likely they will go with
a six man rotation for a little while
when Bryan Woo returns from the
injured list. Wants to be sure the
young starters have limited innings.
At some point they will return to
the five man rotation. Probably
happen in September. Most likely
Woo will be the one who will.sit.
He hasn't hsd a lot of pitching
time in his professional career.

JP Crawford went on the 7 day
injured list with s concussion.
The Mariners hope he will.return
after a week. Sam Haggerty was
brought up to take his spot. The
Mariners expected Dylan Moore
to play shortstop on Friday but
he was scratched a few minutes
before game time. Not sure why
he is out and for how long. Jose
Caballero played short had a hit
and a sacrifice fly while scoring
and driving in a run.

George Kirby starts Saturday night
as Felix Hernandez will be inducted
into.the Mariners Hall of Fame before
game time. T-Mobile Park is sold old.
It will be quite the deal..Go.M's.

Seahawks Win Preseason Opener

The Seattle Seahawks  beat the Minnesota
Vikings Thursday night 24-13.

The Seahawks  scored 17 points in the
second half while giving up only 3.
The first half was a downer for sure.
I  would call it snooze city.

The first half the Vikings  were able to do
what has been the weakness of the
Seahawks  defense in running the ball.
Fortunately  it was bend not break though
did score ten points.

Drew Lock not only played the first half
some of the second as well.  He looked
impressive as the backup quarterback.

Most of the Seahawks  starters didn't
play in this game. Easop Winston trying
to make the team as the fourth or fifth
receiver was Lock's favorite  receiver
catching three passes and a touchdown.
Also undrafted free agent Jake Bobo
had three catches and a touchdown.
Bobo has been so impressive that he
maybe favored to make the team as
one of the backup receivers.

The Seahawks  had 106 yards rushing
on the night all by backups. The Seahawks
have that kind of rushing during the season
will certainly  help them out.

One of their receivers  trying to make the
ball club was injured and carted off on a
stretcher to the hospital in the second
quarter. Word is Cade's injury is only a
concussion.  Whether he will be able
to play in the next preseason  game
against Dallas we will  have to see.

Expect the next game we will likely see
more of the backups again. Whether Lock
starts or we see Geno Smith  instead
Lock should see more action again.
Go Hawks!

Mariners Win Late

The first half of the season it seem
like the Mariners were not winning
a lot of the games in the late innings.
It certainly seems have changed.
The Mariners pitching continues to do
what they have done all season keeping
them in games to have a chance to win.

The Mariners have now won 12 out of
their last 14 games which is the best in
the majors in that time period. Emerson
Hancock made his major league debut
for the Mariners going five innings.
He gave up one run in the first inning.
The Padres didn't even get a hit and
scored on a walk.and groundout.
Hancock went five innings.

The Mariners scored a run in the third
inning on a JP Crawford sacrifice fly.
The game stayed that way until the
bottom of the eighth when Cal Raleigh
hit a two run homer. It went 450 ft the
longest of his career. Cal leads the
Mariners with 19 home runs. It looks
like call will have more home runs in
first two full seasons a Mariners catcher
has ever had in his career. We may see the best home run catcher in Mariners
history.  The Mariners scored three
more runs in the eighth inning. Final
M's 6 Padres 4.

The Mariners have another day off
on Thursday then the Baltimore
Orioles come to town for the weekend
and the entrance of King Felix Hernandez
into the Mariners Hall of Fame.

Luis Castillo starts Friday night.We
will see he can rebound from his
last start. Luis has had an up.and down season. Go M's.

Mariners Shut Out Padres

Tuesday night the Mariners shutout
the San Diego Padres 2-0.

Logan Gilbert had one if his best games
of the season striking out 12 Padres including Juan Soto three times. About
the same as he pitched a full game
and shutout on July 4.

The Mariners scored their two runs
in the fifth and sixth innings. The Mariners
first run was a walk with the bases loaded
and the Padres pitcher took too long
to deliver the pitch so was a violation.
Dylan Moore hit a triple scoring Tom Murphy on a single.

Toronto lost so the Mariners are now
a game and a half behind in the playoffs.
The Mariners have won 11 out of 23.
Continue what they are doing you
should be able to order playoff tickets.

The Mariners put Bryan Woo on the
injured list. Emerson Hancock is
expected to start. The Mariners will
have to make a move on the 40 man
roster as well as 26 man. See what
happens. Go M's.

Seahawks Tuesday

The Seahawks haven't been in camp
long however they have their first
preseason game at home this  Thursday
against the Minnesota Vikings.

We should see backups and rookies
for the most part in this first game.
The Saturday after next will be against
the Dallas Cowboys at home as well.
The final preseason will be at Green Bay.
It will be interesting to see the Packers
without Aaron Rodgers. Now he is a
New York Jet.

The Mariners have Thursday off so
we can watch this preseason game
without interference. I enjoy preseason
sometimes. I hope Geno Smith at least plays in preseason three. Why? The Seahawks sometimes gets off to a
slow start to regular season. They do
play the Rams but still need to beat
their division for.

I look forward to seeing the rookies this week especially. See how good they are.

Sunday, August 6, 2023

Mariners Sweep.Angels

The Mariners did better than anyone
of us expected by sweeping the Angels. Not an easy task for sure and on the road.
Final.Mariners 3 Angels 2

The Mariners 3 Angels 2

So important to sweep since the Rangers
have won six in a row. The Mariners will
need to see what they can do this week
plus the following week. The Mariners
have Monday off then play San Diego
Padres Tuesday and Wednesday at home.
They have three against the Baltimore Orioles at home next weekend. Like
the M'S the Orioles have won eight
of their last ten games. It would be nice
to beat the Padres in both games and
take two out of three from the Orioles.
It won't be an easy task for sure.

The Mariners will need their starting
rotation continue going late into games
and have offense continue to step.up
whether they score four runs or more or
three runs or less. The key is to have
the hits when they count.

This game Sunday the Mariners won
in ten innings. JP Crawford got a lead
off home run in the first inning. The Angels
countered with a run in the bottom.of
the first. Neither team scored a run
until the  seventh inning. Both teams score
then. In the 10th with JP Crawford was
on second as the token runner. Julio
Rodriguez was walked intentionally.
Suarez came through with a hit to
score Crawford. Julio was called out
going into third with umpire calling him
out for taking his foot off the bag. The
Mariners asked for the replay but it wasn't
reversed. It looked like Julio's foot may
have been on the bag but not enough
evidence to reverse.

Lefty Tayler Saucedo pitched the last
two innings giving up no hits or runs.
He struck out three Angels including
the final batter of the game. Wow was
he fired up. Saucedo spent much of
his childhood in Tacoma and a Mariners
fan so quite a deal for him.

Logan Gilbert should start Tuesday's
game followed by Bryan Woo on
Wednesday. Friday's game against
the Orioles should be Luis Castillo
followed by George Kirby and  Bryce
Miller. The Mariners then will go to
Kansas City for four against the Royals
followed by the Astros in Houston. That
could be quite the series if the M's
continue doing what they have.

The next two weeks should be something
else. We see if the Mariners will make
another move. How the team has been
playing not many moves be made I expect.

Mariners Take Series

Sunday the Seattle Mariners will see
if they can sweep the Angels after beating them 3-2 Saturday.night.

It wasn't easy finish as the Angels scored a
run in the 9th off of Munoz. The Mariners
were lucky since Dylan Moore dove for
ball that bounced into left field stands.
The Angels had two runners on bsse.
however they intentionally walked to load
the bases.  There was two outs. Munoz
got the last guy out to preserve the game.
I.am sure the Angels were kicking themselves since they had a chance to win.

The Mariners scored their first two runs
in the third inning on a double by Julio
which scored Dylan Moore and JP Crawford. The Angels scored on a home run in the bottom of the third.

The game stayed that way until the
8th when Ty France hit a ball scoring
Julio. Eugenio Suarez was tagged out
going to third base when he slipped
for the third out. Eugenio wanted
to be sure to have the ball thrown his way to be sure Julio make it home. Julio had three hits on the day.

The at bat before that Julio was sent back
to first base after thinking he stole second
however the home umpire called umpire
interference on the second base umpire.
A couple pitches later he was caught trying
to steal second. Julio was quite mad
at it all which was surpring except Julio
usually doesn't get mad. Suarez made
sure to keep Julio silent so he wouldn't get
kicked out of the game.

Bryce Miller goes Sunday to see if the
Mariners can sweep the Angels. It won't
be easy however the Mariners do have
a chance. Go M's.

Mariners Take Game Two In Series

The Seattle Mariners got off
to a good start scoring four runs
in the first primarily on a three
run homer by Ty France. The
trouble it was short lived. Dylan
Moore added a solo home run
in the second and Julio a two
run shot in the 4th inning. At
the end of the 5th the Angels
tied the game at 7-7. It was
another rough outing by Luis
Castillo. It surprises me he has
an era after this one of 3.21.
At least he was able to go six
innings.

The Mariners were able to get
the Angels starter out early who
went four innings. The Angels
used five relievers while the
Mariners used three. It helps
heading into the final two games
of the series.

Eugenio Suarez drove in Julio
with a go ahead run in the
eighth. Julio had a double then
Suarez single. It was the ten
straight game Suarez had driven
in at least one run. He now has
the teams record after tying
Edgar Martinez at nine.

Cal Raleigh hit a home run in
the 9th to give the Mariners
a 9-7 lead. Matt Brash pitched
the 9th as Andre Munoz wasn't
available after two straight games.
Brash gave up a hit and a walk.
Ohtani came to the plate. I am sure
he was dreaming of hitting a
home run as a walkoff victory
however instead Brash struck him
out and got the final two outs
to record the save and victory.

In other local sports the Washington
Huskies and Oregon Ducks decided
to go to the Big Ten. This now gives
the conference sixteen teams. Looks
like the end of the Pac12. Arizona
and Arizona State expected to go to
the Big 12. What happens to California,
Stanford, Oregon State and Washington
State we will have to stay tuned.

Grand Slam Wins It

Friday nights game was important
for both the Mariners and Angels
are close together trying to make
the playoffs.

There was no scoring in the first
five innings. The Mariners had the
opportunity to score early having
JP Crawford on third and Julio at
second with no outs. A poor throw
by the Angels not able to get Crawford
on a grounder by Julio to first base.
Julio being safe at first stole second.

In the sixth inning Eugenio Suarez
hit a home run to give the Mariners a
one nothing lead. Didn't last long as the
Angels scored two in the bottom
of the sixth. In the eighth inning Ohtani
hit a home run to make it 3-1. For the
Mariners to win they had to at least
score two to tie.

The Angels closer Carlos Estevez
came I with 23 saves in same amount
of opportunities. With a two run lead
it didn't look the Mariners had a chance.
On this night things changed. Cal Raleigh
walked followed by Ty France walking.
Jose Cabellero came and pinch run
for Ty. Dominic Canzone hit a sharp
ball to right however Cal and Jose could only move up a base each. So now the
bases are loaded and things look good
for the Mariners to do something.
Hernandez struck out. Cade Marlowe
who had only been up for two weeks
taking Jarred Kelenic spot. He decided
it was time for the Mariners to win
so he hit a grand slam home run to
put up the Mariners to 5-3 which
ended up the final score. Andre Munoz
gave in and struck out the side.

Right now the Mariners are the hottest
team around. Keep this up the playoffs
look good. Winning each series will let
it happen. The Mariners and Angels
play four so at least two wins would
be a tie. Now the Mariners just need
to win two out of three for a good record
in Anaheim.

Luis Castillo pitches Friday followed
by Kirby and Bryce Miller. Sunday's
game Bryce is the only one with a
slight edge. The Mariners are six
games behind the Texas Rangers
for West division. Toronto lost
so they are two and a half behind
the Blue Jays while half behind the Red Sox. The Mariners and Yankkes have the same record. Continue success
this weekend the Mariners might be
closer. Go M's.

Mariners Win Deciding Game

 the Mariners didn't
have one home run. Dominic Canzone
had a walk  followed by Tom Murphy
single. Chad Marlowe had a hit to drive in Canzone. Cabarrello pinch run for Marlow.
Julio had a hit while his bat broke. Another run scored. Julio scored the 4th run on
the inning.

The Mariners now go to play the Angel.
The Mariners continue on now.
Go M's.

Mariners Take It

The Mariners ended up losing Tuesday
night 6-4. The team had the opportunity
to get ahead in the first inning having the
bases loaded unfortunately didn't score
more than one run. Ty France had three
hits on the day however the one time
he didn't was in the first inning. He did drive in a run later but too late. They have
to get key hits when the opportunity
arises and for the Mariners doesn't
happened as often as it should. The
Red Sox won because they did take
advantage a couple times.

The Red Sox scored all their runs
in fourth through the sixth inning.
All off starter Bryce Miller which
included two home runs. Giving
up home runs has been Bryce
fortay lately. He lasted into the
sixth inning with two outs.

Trent Thornton who the Mariners
acquired on July 26 from the
Toronto Blue Jays made his Mariners
debut went two and one-third innings
giving up one hit and striking out
three hitters. A welcome to the
Mariners bullpen.Devin Sweet who
was brought up on July 19 pitched
the ninth. Both of the guys allowed
the team to have a chance to win
however late the Mariners offense
couldn't come through. Again all
comes down to getting the hits.

Eugenio Suarez was the hitter of the
game having two hits and three RBIs.
Had a two run homer to give the
Mariners four runs on the day.

The Mariners lost only seven games
in July however they could have won
at least two of the games. Tuesday's
game was in the same manner. Tired
of seeing this over again. The Mariners
have a day game Wednesday before
going to Anaheim on a four game series.
It would be nice to  take this game as
well as the one against the Angels.
Key series since both teams are ahead
of them for the playoffs. The Mariners
are in range to win the division to.
If they can have a win record like July
they have a really good shot.

The Mariners didn't make any more
moves on Tuesday except a minor league one. It is nice to know Wednesdays
starter Logan Gilbert wasn't dealt.
I am sure the Mariners tried too
make a deal but the other teams
might have asked for too much.
Teoscar Hernandez didn't play Tuesday
though he wasn't dealt. I wonder if
the Mariners will try to sign him
to a new deal before going free agent
on the off season.

Dominic Canzone made his Mariners
debut on Tuesday. He had one hit
and looked very comfortable in
right field too. Canzone can play first
base so we might see him there too.
Cade Marlowe continues to hit well
having two on the night.

Jose Rojas made his Mariners debut
to at second base.He didn't have a hit
on the night. The Mariners said good
bye to Kolten Wong earlier in the day
so Rojas and Jose Cabarrello look
to platoon at second base.

Andre Munoz looks like the main
guy to take over the closer role
with the departure of Paul Sewald.
We could see with Gabe Speier or
Taylor Saucedo pitch the 9th if
facing lefties in the 9th. Depending
how much Munoz is used we could
see Matt Bash too. The Mariners
have always like matching up so
likely it will depend on the opposing
teams lineup from seventh thru the
ninth on.how they are used. Go M's.
