Huskies Beat Undefeated Arizona State

For the Huskies it is nice to play at
home. The Arizona State Sun Devils
came in undeated in the Pac-12 at 4-0.
The Huskies showed the Sun Devils
it isn't easy to win on the road.

Final Huskies 82-67

The Huskies led most of the first half
though were down by one. It was interesting since they looked like they
were in control. The Sun Devils scored
a lot in the first half because of turnovers.

The Huskies got off to a good start in the second half taking an eight point lead.
It stayed that way for a while trading baskets. Under the half way left in the second half the Huskies went on a 13-0
run. The best the Sun Devils could do
was get back to nine down however the
Huskies were able to get back in double
figures on shooting three points.

Shavir Wheeler led the Huskies with 24 points. The Sun Devils let Shavir take
3 point shots where he made all five
that he took. Huskies leading scorer
on the season Keion Brooks Jr had 22
points. Moses Wood chiped in 15. He
was 4 for 10 behind the three point
line and three for four from the foul
line. In all the Huskies shot over 50
percent behind the arc.

Center Braxton Meah had his best
game of the season with 10 points
and a career high 14 rebounds. The
key was Braxton stayed out of foul
trouble which he has had trouble
in all season long. The Huskies
with him in the lineup they can be
difficult to beat. The Huskies will
play UCLA on the road Sunday. The
Bruins are a young team and are
dead last in the conference with a
1-4 record along with Oregon State.

Wednesday night WSU Cougars beat
USC on the road 72-64. The Trojans were supposed to be one of the better teams
behind Arizona however they are 2-3.
Speaking of Arizona the Cougars play
them on Saturday at home.

The Cougars took care of the Trojans
in the second half after leading by one
in the first half. Both teams had six three
pointers so that was a wash. Neither team
shot well as the Trojans had two more attempts at 21. Cougars made two more field goals with less attempts. The Cougars made four more foul shots though the
Trojans took one more attempts.

The Cougars were led by Isaac Jones
with  26 points and 11 rebounds. Jaylen
Wells had 17 points and Myles Rice with
12. Only three scoring in double figures.
Next in line was Isaiah Watts with six
points.

The Trojans had only two players score
in double figures with Boogie Ellis with
18 and Isaiah Collier with 12. Former
Cougar DJ Rodman led the Trojans
with 8 rebounds.

Gonzaga were beaten Thursday night
by Santa Clara on the road 77-76. The
Zags had to erase a 13 point defecit
in the second half but couldn't make it
through. This was the first time Santa
Clara beat the Zags since 2011.

Anton Watson led the Zags with 32
points and nine rebounds. Ryan
Nembhard had 21 points while Braden
Huff came off the bench with 14.

figures led by guard Adama Bal with 17.

The Zags don't play again until next
Thursday on the road at Pepperdine.
They beat Pepperdine at home last
Thursday 86-60. Santa Clara and St.
Marys lead the West Coast Conference
with 3-0 records. San Francisco Dons
