training game. Up until now he had pitched
in several simulated games. So don't worry
right now he will be ready to go when the
season begins. Paxton will either start game
two or three.
Paxton went four and one-third innings
giving up only two hits and a run which
happened in the first inning. Paxton walked
two batters, however, struck out eight which
is a good sign too.
The Mariners ended up beating the Milwaukee
Brewers on Sunday 3-1. All three runs were
solo home runs by outfielders Jarred Kelenic
in second inning, Julio Rodriguez in the seventh
and third baseman Jantzen Witte in the eighth.
All three players likely will start the season
in the minor leagues.
I heard on the Mariner Radio Network manager
Scott Servais said the player who wins the left
field spot should happen by the end of this week.
The main candidates are Jake Fraley, Taylor
Trammell and Jarred Kelenic. It will be interesting
to see who wins it. Taylor Trammell looks to be
the favorite right now.
This week will look at the bullpen as we are getting
close to the end of spring training with the season
to begin on Thursday April 1.
