The
game between the Seattle Seahawks and the Arizona Cardinals had to turn into
one of the most strange games every played. I thought the game would be close
because of the defense however Sunday night’s game ending in a 6-6 tie was
something I did not imagine.
I
am not sure whether the game was bad offense or very good defense. Likely it
was the combination of both. Certainly was one of the worst games the Seahawks
played offensively that is for sure. After the game last week against Atlanta I
thought the Seahawks would play a better game however that sure did not turn
out to be the case.
I
am always amazed that the Seahawks offense seems to have a problem the first
half of the season. Something has to be done to change that. On the bright side
they always rebound the second half of the season. I thought now that Russell
Wilson has been around for a while that would change but we know that part of
the problem has been his early season injuries. This game shows that without
him being healthy and a good use of his legs his game certainly not at the
best. He is spending most of the time in the pocket and when he does go out he
isn’t running like we are accustomed to seeing him do. So other teams like the
Cardinals know that they just have to put the rush on him.
Another
problem is that the running attack has not been there either. Christine Michael
is averaging around 3.3 yards per carry instead of being over 4 yards. I expect
the problem has to do with the offensive line. They are the primary reason that
the Seahawks offense gets off to a slow start every year since they keep
changing it. There was an additional problem left tackle Bradley Sowell had to
leave the game with a sprained knee and never returned. At this point have no
idea whether he will play next week. He was replaced by rookie George Fant who
had troubles and was called on several holding calls.
Both
teams had a chance to win the game in overtime. They both scored field goals in
overtime but missed field goals to win the game. I am sure a lot of people
stayed tuned into the game especially Seahawk and Cardinals fans to see what
would happen. I wonder if this game will help the rating for next Sunday
night’s game. One thing for sure when the Seahawks are on national television
anything can happen and usually does in their favor. The plus here the tie
helps the Seahawks out better than a loss. At least at this point of the
season; the Rams and 49ers continued to lose so the Cardinals being 3-3-1 are
still the closest to the Seahawks record of 4-1-1. At the end of the season the
tie could hurt one or the other or both when it comes to placing in the
playoffs. The Seahawks could lose out on home field advantage. Some time to go
though before we have to worry about that though. Go Hawks!!
