Mariners Are Eliminated

All the  Mariners  needed was to beat
the Rangers Saturday  evening to give
the best chance of  making the  playoffs
however didn't  happen.

Luis Castillo  who was expected to be the
Mariners ace again was far from it. The
Rangers beat the Mariners  6-1. Luis
pitched well  the  first two innings however
the third was his down fall leaving with
two outs and giving up four runs. Matt Brash
came in and gave up a run as well  in one
inning of work. Munoz  who pitched the
8th inning gave up  the final run.

The Houston  Astros beat Arizona meaning
the Mariners  season  will be over Sunday
in whatever results  come about. George
Kirby  will start but how long will he go.

The Mariners  had a great August  winning 21
games however September was a disappointment
like most of the season. In the weeks ahead
we will look at the Mariners and what they should
do to make sure they  make the playoffs  next season.

Next post we will  look at what the Huskies football
team did against Arizona.  They are currently  playing
in the second half. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Need Two More Wins

Friday night the Mariners  beat the Rangers
8-0  with two games remaining. The Mariners
scored three runs in the third inning followed
by five in the fourth.

The highlights were Ty France hitting a solo
home run  in the third  and JP Crawford hitting
a grand slam  in the 4th. Wonder what JP will do
Saturday to help win another game.

Luis Castillo  will go Saturday  for the Mariners.
We hope he does better than his last outing
and be  ore like the one before that. Again
the Mariners  need to  score early. Go M's.

Crawford Does It With Two Outs

The Seattle  Mariners  really  needed Thursday's
nights game as a win. The best chance to make
the playoffs  is to sweep  the Rangers. If they do
so the two teams would be tied as far as records
go. The Rangers would have  the series record
between  them. The best would  be  the two teams
tie for the division  title.  Though the Rangers
would win the division  the Mariners would be in
as a wild card. On the other hand if there is a
three way tie for first place with Houston as well
and the Mariners  have series there. A playoff would
happen.

The Mariners  were going into the bottom of the 9th
trailing 2-1. Logan Gilbert  who started and went six
innings  gave up two home runs. Julio had hit a solo
home run to right field in the 4th inning. The Mariners
were able to load the bases with no outs so the chances
looked good they would at least tie the game. The M's
often have trouble when the bases are loaded and this
game wasn't  any different.  The Rangers reliever Hernandez
who came in with no outs and bases loaded was able to
get two outs. JP Crawford the teams most consistent
player was able to hit a ball over the Rangers  left fielders
head to have the walk off win.

Bryan Woo will start Friday night for the Mariners. He
has pitched well  at times so the Mariners need his best
outing of the season  up to now. I am  sure  he will have
a short  leash. Hopefully  the Mariners  can score early.
Like this whole four game series it is a sellout so the
crowd will be rocking. Stay tuned.

Astros Take Series

The Houston  Astros  won the
game Wednesday  night when
the  Mariners  really  could have
used the win.

Final Astros  8 Mariners  3

Takeaways

The Mariners  had the opportunity to
win early  since Astros  starter Valdez
had trouble  getting  the ball over the
plate.

The trouble was the Mariners  went
after swings they shouldn't have. JP
Crawford  had a lead off home run  in
the first inning however had two runners
on base. At least one of them could have
scored with plate discipline. In all the
Mariners  struck out 16 times.

The Astros  showed how it was supposed
be done with several extra base hits. They
scored four runs in the 4th and three in the
seventh and added another in the eighth.

The Mariners  scored two in the 4th but
couldn't  put any more on the board though
they had opportunities. The Mariners need
to make changes in their starting lineup
although might be late. What has been
happening isn't  working guys. Go M's.

Mariners Win Middle Game

Good news the Mariners beat Astros
in middle of series. This might have
been the most important game of
the season or at least this week.

Final Mariners 6 Astros 2

The Mariners were able score first
getting two runs in the third and three
more in the fifth. Added another run
in the eighth. The good news about
the run in the eighth was a homer by
Ty France. He hadn't homered in over
thirty games so hopefully this will
help. The Mariners can use his bat.

The Mariners most success is scoring
first. Getting runs early and put pressure on the other team.

George Kirby was able to go six innings
and not surrendering a run. Kirby walked
one batter which was intentional. The first
time hr hss ever done that. Gave up.five
hits while striking out five.

The Astros got their runs with one in
the seventh and one in the ninth.
We hope for a similar game Wednesday
Night. Go.M's.

Mariners Continue To Slump

Right now when the Mariners need to
play there best ball they are slumping.
Not just the offense the pitching as
well.

Monday's Final Houston 5 Seattle 1

The Astros did what the Mariners
need to do and that is they scored
early. They scored three of their
five runs in the second inning followed
by another in the third.

The Mariners scored only one run
in the eighth inning. Josh Rojas hit
a double off of Justin Verlander.
He scored on a sacrifice fly by Julio.
The Mariners had only three hits
on the night  and two were by Rojas.
The third was by Dominic Canzone.
The rest of the lineup was silent.

Luis Castillo the Mariners were
hoping to do better went six innings
giving up all the five runs. Even if
he pitched better the offense still
needed to produce.

The Mariners have six games remaining
on the season. To make the playoffs
they need to win most of these games.

The Mariners have a record now of
84-72 losing four straight. The Mariners
need to beat the Astros twice even
the wins at 86 and have one loss less
then the Astros. Toronto has 87 wins
so they have the second wild card spot
while the Astros would be third. It won't
be easy however the Mariners still
can get in however they need to win
most of the remaining games. Go M's.

Seahawks Win Mariners Don't

The Seahawks beat the Carolina
Panthers at home 37-27. A big difference
was the Seahawks had five field goals
while the Panthers had two.

At the beginning of the fourth quarter
the Panthers scored a touchdown to
make it 22-20. Just about three minutes
later Ken Walker scored his second
touchdown of the game making it
29-20.  About five minutes remaing in
the game the Panthers went on fourth and seven after a penalty in their own territory
and didn't make it. Had they punted they
may have had a better chance in winning.
Jake Bobo caught a five yard touchdown
less than a minute later and Tyler Lockett
made the two point conversion making it
37-20. The Panthers scored a touchdown
at 1:40 left in the game. Had they decided to punt instead and stopped the Seahawks
they may have won. We will never know.

The Panthers threw for over 300 yards while rushing for 44 yards. Showed the
Seahawks did good job against the run
and still need to improve against the
pass. Geno Smith completed 23 of 36
passes for 297 yards, one touchdown
and an interception. Besides the two
touchdowns Ken Walker had 97 yards
on 18 carries. Second round  rookie Zach Carbonnet had nine carries for 46 yards.
Both averaged over five yards a carry.
Though he had no touchdowns DK
Metcalf had a good day catching six
passes for 112 yards.

Next week the Seahawks play the
New York Giants on the road on
Monday night football. The Seahawks
always seem to do well. The Giants
on the other hand are 1-2 scoring
43 points while giving up 98 points
in the three games. The Seahawks could win.

The Mariners lost to the the Texas
Rangers for the third time so they were swept in Texas. The Mariners come home
to finish the season. Three against the
Astros and four against the Rangers.
The Mariners can still win the division
or make the wild card however they
really need to win four of the remaining
games at least to do so.  T-Mobile
Park should be full and noisy. The
Mariners need to go with their
best lineup. Sunday's final
was Texas 9 Mariners 8. Luis Castillo
should start on Monday against the
Astros.  Go.M's.

The Four Northwest Schools

The four northwest schools had
quite the football games on Saturday.
The first game was between  Oregon
Ducks and Colorado.

Both teams were undefeated however
the Ducks showed Deion Sanders
and the Buffaloes they still have work
todo. The Ducks won 42-6. The Ducks
game was so lopsided they didn't even
score a point in the 4th quarter and the
Buffaloes  didn't  score until  the 4th
quarter. In fact tge Ducks scored 35
points in the first half. Either they took
easy in the second half or the Buffaloes
played much better. Likely  a combination
of both.

Deion still doesn't  lack the confidence
saying after the game they will beat
one of the top programs. He might be
right however he might have to wait
until he is in the Big 12 next year.

The Washington  State  Cougars  out
played the number 14 ranked Oregon
State  Beavers in Pullman most of the
game. The final was WSU 38-35. The
score didn't  show how much the Cougars
out played the Beavers leading 28-14
at halftime.

The Cougars had only a touchdown in the
3rd quarter and a field goal in the 4th to make
the difference  while the Beavers scored 21
points in the 4th quarter.  Had the Beavers
won it would have been said WSU  couged
it which they have done on many occasions
before.

The Beavers have had the best defense in
the  Pac-12 the last year and a half. The
Cougars obviously  didn't  care. The Cougars
had a total offense  yardage of 528 yards
with 422 yards in the passing game. The
Beavers had a total  of 440 yards. They rushed
for 242 yards while passing for 198 yards.

Cougars quarterback Cameron Ward threw
for 404 yards and four touchdowns. Josh
Kelly had quite the game with three touchdowns.
Kyler Williams had seven catches and a touchdown.
Combined they had over 300 yards receiving.

The Washington  Huskies  beat the California
Golden Bears 59-32. The game wasn't  even that
close. The Huskies started out scoring a touchdown
on a 45 yard interception  run followed by a
Rome Odunze  83 yard punt return.  Even before
Michael  Penix  Jr  came on the field they led
14-0. He still  had  a good day throwing for 304
yards and four touchdowns  though did throw
an interception.

The Golden Bears have  one of the best rushing
teams in the  country. They ran for 139 yards
but much of it was in the second half against
the Huskies backups. The Huskies are wanting
to run more actually had 140 yards on the ground.
The Huskies were led by Dillon Johnson with 66
yards on ten carries and a touchdown. The Huskies
play Arizona on the road next week. The Huskies
have had trouble  playing well at Arizona.  They plan
to change that next week. They beat Stanford on
the road 21-20 Saturday.  Be interesting  to  say
the least. Go Dawgs!

Game Two Mariners Shut Out

The Seattle Mariners now have lost two
games in the current series to the Texas
Rangers. The Mariners haven't played
well this season against Texas. In fact
if they had they would have won the division already.

The Mariners need to win Sunday to
make it better to win the division or
make the playoffs.

Logan Gilbert pitched well enough
to win giving up two runs in five and two-third innings. Gilbert did walk four batters
while striking out only two. Matt Brash
finished the six and pitched the seventh.
The Mariners were not able to get to
the Rangers bullpen which hasn't been
that good this year.

The final was Texas 2 Seattle 0

Bryan Woo is expected to start on
Sunday. He pitches like he has recently
and the Mariners hitters come alive
will help.

The WSU Cougars beat Oregon State
late afternoon and Huskies winning
right now so give  details next time.
Also Oregon Ducks beat up Colorado.

Mariners Go Down Friday

In the first game of the final ten
the Mariners lost to the Rangers
8-5.

Bryce Miller a native to Texas got
off terrible start giving up a home
run to Corey Seager in the first
inning. In the second inning Evan
Carter hit a three-run homer.

The Rangers add four more runs
in the fifth inning to make it 8-0.
No home runs in the fifth. The
Mariners scored four runs in the
sixth inning to make it interesting.
Three of the four runs was on a
three-run homer by Cal Raleigh with
JP Crawford and Julio Rodriguez
on base.  Eugenio Suarez scored
on a walk to Josh Rojas.

Logan Gilbert pitches on Saturday
where we hope the Mariners can
rebound to even the series. It would
be nice if the Mariners can take the
middle game of the series at least
before heading home to finish the
season.

The Rangers are one game ahead of
the Mariners and a half of the Astros
who lost to Kansas City Royals  5-3.
Toronto beat Tampa Bay 6-2 to be
a game ahead of the Mariners in the
Wild card.

Mariners Swept A's

The Seattle  Mariners  swept the Oakland A's
beating  them 6-3 Wednesday  afternoon .
The Mariners took the  season  series 12-1.
The reason they are in the hunt for to win
their division.

Currently  the  Houston  Astros  lead
the American League  West by half a
game over the Mariners  and the Rangers.

The Mariners  take on the Rangers beginning
Friday for  three game series. In the final
ten games they play the Rangers seven times
while the Astros for three. How the Mariners
do will tell us whether they win the division  or
not. For the Mariners  to win they must need to
win six games or so. It is especially important
to beat the Rangers. Let the best team win. Go M's.

Mariners Go For Sweep

The Mariners were swept by the
Dodgers over the weekend so
they needed wins against Oakland
to get back into the race.

The fortunate thing the Rangers and
Astros are struggling on their own too.

Tuesday the Mariners beat Oakland
in game two 7-2. They have final
game of season Wednesday afternoon
then head to Arlington to play three
against the Rangers. They will finish
the season next week at home
for three against Astros and four against
the Rangers. How they do in these
remaining games decides playoffs
or not. How hungry are they or will
they let their weaknesses get the best
of them.

Tuesday night they got off to a slow
start. Jarred Kelenic drove in the first two runs one in the second and other in the
fourth inning. The Mariners scored four
runs in the seventh inning before the
A's scored twice.

JP Crawford continues having a great
season. He had a double in the seventh
to drive in Dylan Moore. Julio was walked
then Cal Raleigh single to drive in Crawford.
Teoscar Hernandez hit a double to drive
in Julio. Raleigh scored on a wild pitch.

In the ninth inning JP Crawford hit a solo
home run to make it 7-2 after A's scored
twice in the bottom of the seventh. Though
Julio has had a great second half Crawford
hss to be the MVP for the season. He
continues making key hits.

Luis Castillo went seven innings giving
up the two runs in the bottom of 7th.
He gave up five hits, walked three and
struck out eight.  The Mariners were
able to rest the majority of their bullpen.

George Kirby starts Wednesday. We
hope he can bounce back after having
some rough outings in recent starts.
We need to see the all-star pitcher going.
He likely have two starts remaing one
against the Astros and one against Rangers both at home. Go M's.

Washington Huskies At Home Against California Golden Bears This Saturday

Washington Huskies have had a long
history playing the California Golden Bears.
This Saturday will be their last playing in
the Pac-12. This will be the 103 meeting
between the two schools. The Huskies
lead the series 57-41 with four ties.

The Huskies beat California on their
field last year 28-21. They have had some
very close games in recent times. In the most recent home game on September 25 2021 at Husky  won 31-24. They didn't play in 2020 because of covid19. September 7 2019 at Husky Stadium California won 20-19.  The year before that at Berkeley the
Golden Bears won 12-10.

The Huskies should be favored once again.
In fact they are favored by 21.5 points. Last game California beat 31-17.  The Golden Bears gave up 279 yards passing however we know the Huskies throw more than the
opponents do or who they play. Expect
the Huskies to pass for many more yards
than 279.

The Washington Huskies are now ranked # 5 going ahead of Ohio State and USC who still both undefeated. Having a 35-0 lead
at half time against Michigan State was
the main reason.

The Golden Bears are led by Sam Jackdon
a sophomore quarterback who transferred from TCU. The most familiar receiver we
know is former Huskies receiver in Taj Davis. Last game  he caught only one ball for nine yards. Junior receiver Jeremiah
Hunter had the most catches with five for 48 yards and a touchdown.

In the running game Isaiah Ifanse had
137 yards on 22 carries and a touchdown.
As we saw against Michigan State the
Huskies were able to stop their running
game. Would not surprise me the Huskies
will do the same thing here as well since
Golden Bears don't have a serious passing
game.

The Huskies beating Michigan State last Saturday 41-6 I wouldn't see much difference in this score either. Let's see
what happens.  Go Dawgs!

Mariners End Losing Skid

The Mariners had the right team
to play to end the losing streak
after being swept by the Dodgers
at home. They beat the A's on the
road at Oakland 5-0.

Bryan Woo who grew up nearby
went five innings scattering only
three hits. He got off  to a rough
start figuring pitching in front of
family and friends.

The Mariners had the opportunity to
get off well loading the bases off
of A's starter JP Sears. Dylan Moore
struck out to end the first inning with
no runs scored by the Mariners. This
is getting very tiresome in my book.

The Mariners did score a run in the
second inning when JP Crawford
singled Sam Haggerty. In the fourth
inning Jose Caballero hit a two-run
homer making it 3-2. Luis Torrens
drove in Caballero in the sixth inning on a double. Torrens was catching to give Cal Raleigh the day off.  Eugenio Suarez
drove in the final run in the 8th inning
bringing in Crawford.

Besides winning both the Rangers and Astros both lost. The Rangers  against the Red Sox and the Astros against the Orioles.
The Mariners and Rangers are tied at 82-68
with 12 games remaining. The Astros are
a game and a half ahead of both teams at
84-67 with 11 games remaining. Be an interesting finish. Go M's.

Mariners Swept At Home

This weekend's series against the
Los Angeles Dodgers which the
Mariners needed to win at least
one game turned out to be a sweep
and a disaster. In fact they should
have won at least one game.

The Mariners had their best month
ever in August by winning 21 games.
Right time to continue on in the
playoff race in September they are
5-11. It isn't over yet however they
do need to get back to success of
August.

Probably the Mariners biggest Achilles
Heel is scoring with the bases loaded.
They lost Saturday when they loaded
the bases in the bottom of the ninth.
The game was zero to zero and only
needed one run to win however didn't
score. The 10th inning they could only score one run after the Dodgers scored
one. In the eleventh inning the Dodgers
scored five runs to make it hard on
the Mariners to win. They only ended
up scoring one run.

On Sunday the Dodgers scored one run
in the first inning followed by three in
the second. The Mariners were able
able to get one run after loading the
bases with JP Crawford driving in
Eugenio Suarez. Julio who didn't
have a hit on the day could have
caused more damage but wasn't
able too. Even if the Mariners couldn't
have tied the game at 4-4 it would have
been more interesting still with at least
one more or two runs.

The Dodgers were able to add another
run in the fourth and eighth innings.
Final 6-2.  Though the pitching hasn't
been what it has been a lot still hangs
on the offense especially when the
bases are loaded. Whatever happens
further the Mariners will need to
make changes to the lineup and how
it is used.

First thing they need to strengthen
the bench. If they want to continue
platooning and pinch hitting for that
matter they will need a better bench.
Personally I have mentioned on
several occasions they need to stop
pinch hitting for the most part. It
hasn't had much success.

I hope the Mariners will be able to
resign Teoscar Hernandez to a new
deal. In fact to put us to ease let's
do it over the next ten days. If the
M's are not able to resign Hernandez
or don't want to they will need to go
out and get another right handed bat.
The Mariners have Jarred Kelenic and
Dominic Canzone who both bat left
handed then there is Cade Marlowe
is as well.

Even resigning Hernandez getting
another right handed bat would be
nice. Dylan Moore though he can
play the outfield he still shows he
lacks in the hitting department.
The same goes for Sam Haggerty.
Jose Caballero hasn't hit as well
in the second half however his
season has shown him as a good
possibility to platoon at second
base if Josh Rojas is the right
choice to start against righties.

Ryan Bliss a prospect they picked
up in the Sewald trade has batted .251
with eight home runs bats right handed
could platoon at second base as well.
Bliss is 23 so he could play regularly
and not start against a very good right
hander.

Mike Ford has done an OK job as dh after
most of the first half was dismall. The
chances are the Mariners will go another
direction. Canzone could dh at times
next year especially if Hernandez returns. Of course Hernandez could dh some like
he did this year.

It may not mean Ty France won't be on
the team however the Mariners could
upgrade at first base. Canzone could
play some first base but I wouldn't call
that as part of an upgrade. It certainly
be interesting to see where the Mariners
will go to improve  their weaknesses.
Go M's.

Seahawks Win Overtime

It was important for the Seahawks
to win Sunday. It would be difficult
for the Seahawks to turn things
around on the season.

The Seahawks won 37-31 in overtime.
Seahawks scored first with Kenneth
Walker in the first quarter. Detroit
respond by scoring a touchdown in
the first and second quarter.

Halftime score Detroit 14 Seahawks 7
Third quarter 10 points by Seahawks
while the Lions had another touchdown
making  it 21-17 Detroit.  Fourth quarter
Seahawks scored two touchdowns
while Lions had ten points. Making
it 31-31.  Seahawks won coin toss
and went down the field where
Tyler Lockett scored a touchd
for the win 37-31.

Kenneth Walker ran for 43 yards on 17 carries however scored two touchdowns.
Tyler Lockett had two touchdowns however  to win.

Geno Smith had 328 yds. Not bad at all.
Jared Goff had almost identical stats
as Smith and three touchdowns and   interception.  True Brown intercepted
the pass for a touchdown.

DK Metcalf missed some time being injured
along with cornerback Riq Woolen.  Center
Evan Brown missed several snaps before
returning.

Lions had 102 yards on the ground
while 316 yds. The Seahawks will
need to improve in the passing
next week against Carolina Panthers.
The Panthers lost opening game
24 to ten years last week. Take on
the Saints on Monday. Good game
to watch and scout.   Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose Series Opener

The Seattle Mariners this weekend
are  playing the Los Angeles Dodgers
at home. One of the top  teams in
the National League. In fact they are
close to clinching the West Division.

Very similar to the Toronto Blue Jays
they have quite a few fans in the stands.
Unlike the Blue Jays I expect most these
fans are transplants from Southern
California.

Hard enough to play a game against
a team as good as the Dodgers in any circumstance but a game that might feel like a home game doesn't help either. I am sure they have the same feeling in other
places they play as well.

The game was tight and the feeling one
pitch or two could make the difference
in the game which turned out to be
true. The first three and half innings
the game was scoreless. Eugenio Suarez
hit a pitch which was pretty close in the
middle for a homer. Putting the Mariners
up one to nothing.

The lead was shirt lived as George Kirby
threw a mistake pitch to LA shortstop
Miguel Rojas for a two run homer. The
Dodgers have quite a lineup of power
hitters though this was the fourth home
run on the season for Rojas. I can imagine
Kirby wasn't happy to give a home run
to someone who hits a home run infrequently as Rojas.

The top of the sixth inning the Dodgers
scored two more runs with Max Muncy
hitting a triple to right field with catcher
Will Smith who was on base by being
hit on a pitch by Kirby.  JD Martinez
who the Mariners are familiar with in
his time with the Boston Red Sox hit
a hard single to score Muncy.

The Mariners scored two runs in
the bottom of the sixth to make
it a one run lead. Teoscar Hernandez
who continues is on base streak
hit a single to score Julio. Eugenio
Suarez hit into a double play however
Cal Raleigh scored.

A difference in the two teams the Dodgers are better hitting in the clutch then
the Mariners or their pitchers are better getting out circumstances. Whatever the case they show why they are a better team at least for  one game anyway.

The Dodgers add a run in both the 8th
and 9th inning making it a 6-3  victory.
The Mariners had eleven hits on the
night believing why they could have
scored more runs. The trouble is they
struck out eleven times as well. Not a
good answer to help win games.

Saturday's game  Bryce Miller will
face off against Dodgers ace Clayton
Kershaw. On paper this looks like
a favor for the Dodgers once again.
Kershaw has a record of 12-4 with
an era of 2.61 while Miller is 8-5
with an era of 4.05. For the Mariners
to have the best chance of winning
they will need to get to Kershaw early
on in the game. We do hope for M's
victory in this one though won't be
easy for sure.

The Mariners have fifteen games
remains in the regular season. They
will to win nine to get to 90 wins.
It won't be an easy task however the best chance to be in the playoffs.

The Mariners are now third in the West
a game and a half behind Houston
and a game behind the Rangers. The
Mariners need to get back to how they
played in August to have success.
They are a half game ahead of Toronto
for the third playoff spot.

The Orioles have a slight edge over
the Tampa Bay Rays however both
teams should make the playoffs with
one of them having the first wildcard
spot. The Mariners can still win the
division or be the second wildcard as
well as third. It should come down
on how the Mariners play against
the Rangers and Astros coming up.
Go M's

Seattle Seahawks Friday

The Seattle  Seahawks I thought might win
ten games on the season however now I
this k they will need to change things around.

I thought the Seahawks  would win ten winning
their first  three games of the season.  I figured
they beat the Rams at home, however we know
that didn't happen.

This week the Seahawks  will  play the Detroit
Lions in their home opener. The Lions winning
in their season  opener at Kansas City against
the Chiefs gives me doubts. One thing for sure
the Seahawks will have to turn things around
both offensively and defensively.

The Seahawks  will be missing their two starting
tackles it looks like this week. Abraham Lucas
was put on injured reserve so he will miss four games
anyway. Charles Cross the left tackle is hurt with
a sore toe. Not bad enough to go on injured reserve
however likely  miss this game.

The Seahawks  signed two offensive lineman to
the roster in Raiqwon O'Neal  and McClendon Curtis.
They signed veteran tackle Jason Peters to the
practice squad as well as Greg Eiland.

The Seahawks  again releases quarterback Holton
Ahlers from the practice squad  as well.  Be sure
he will be back again. Hopefully  Geno Smith will
stay healthy.

First round pick Devon Witherspoon is expected to
make his debut on Sunday. See how he improves
the cornerback position.  Also Jamal Adams might
make his first appearance  for the Seahawks in a
while.

We hope the Lions are not as good as they were in
their opener while Seahawks  are better. The game
will be at 10 am Pacific time. Go Hawks!

Mariners Take Series Against Angels

It is nice the Marine took the series
against the Angels. It didn't look
the same team.without Ohtani and
Mike Trout. I don't think the Angels
will have Ohtani next year being a free
agent. He could be a member of the
Mariners or some other team though
he won't be pitching.

The Mariners did win a close won.3-2.
ÀThe Angels decided to walk Julio
in the fifth inning with a 2-1 lead with Ty
France on second. Cal Raleigh hit a sharp
sing to right to score France for the tie.
Teoscar Hernandez came up next
hsd a hit to bring in Julio and it was
the ball game.

Luis Castillo pitched six innings giving
up the two runs. He gave up hits, three
walks and eight strike. A.good day of work.

The Mariners have Thursday off and take on the LA Dodgers Friday thru Sunday.
Should be big crowds.

The Mariners have Bryce Miller, Kirby and
Logan Gilbert going in the serles.
Next week they play the A's in Oakland
followed by the Rangers at home next
weekend.  That will be a pivotal series.
Go M's

Woo and M's Take Care of Angels

Bryan Woo who hadn't pit chef like in seven
days shut out the Angels eight to nothing.  Woo went five and two- thirds
Innings striking out eight batters.

The Mariners are trying to.limit his innings
since it is his rookie season.  I recommend
he pitches against teams he can pitch well. against or haven't seen him yet.

JP Crawford drove in three runs while Julio had a couple hits and Suarez  had a home run to spark the Mariners. Tomorrow Castillo starts in an afternoon game on Wednesday before a day off. Go M's.

Mariners Lose To Angels

I don't know about you however I am
frustrated in the way the Mariners are
playing right now. Are they going to
blow this whole opportunity after playing
so well in August.

Most of the season the pitching was so
good and now they costing them games
to some degree.

Monday night the Mariners led 3-0 after
the first inning on a two run homer by
Cal Raleigh. The Angels scored two in
the top of the second. The Angel tied
it in fourth at 3-3. Neither team scored
again until extra innings.

The Angels scored two in the top of
the 10th and Julio hit a two run homer
in the bottom of the inning. The top of
the 11th Angels scored three  which
included an error by the reliable Eugenio
Suarez. That was the ball game.

Are the Mariners going to win another
game in my mind.  It is the combination
of bad playing and managing. A team
played so well in August is now playing
on their laurels.  Also, not playing their
best players either. Did August wear them
out that much. Go M's.

Mariners and Seahawks Lose

The Mariners had a disappointing
road trip winning one game in
each city. Again they lost to Tampa
6-3.

In my mind this was the only game
they should have lost. The Rays scored
three runs in the first inning and two more
off Brice Miller in the third inning. The
Mariners were able to get five innings
our of Miller at least. Only used two
relievers in the game.

The Mariners ended up dfa Luke Weaver.
It was sad after he got off so good in
his first appearance. If he makes threw
waivers he could be sent to Tacoma.

The Mariners had two hits from Julio
and Sam Haggerty who.played in
Left field. Haggerty drove in a run on a double and Julio scored one too.

The Mariners have three games at home
against the Angels, Dodgers and A's.
We hope turns things around.  They are
now  two and a half games behind
the Astros.

The Seahawks most fans figured they
would win the season's opener at home
against the LA Rams however it wasn't
meant to be.

The Rams beat the Seahawks 30-13.
The trouble was the second half when
the Seahawks had no points and the
Rams had 23. The Seahawks did well
on their first drive of the game but
got stalled and had to settle for a field
goal. DK Metcalf had a touchdown in
the se one quarter and another field
goal.

Geno Smith was 16 of 26 for 112 yards
and one TD.  DK Metcalf and rookie
Jaxon Smith-Njigba both had three
catches on the day.

Kenneth Walker had 12 carriers 64 yards
but the Seahawks had to throw after
getting behind.

Rams qb Matthew Stafford threw for
334 yards though didn't have any TD.
Running back Kyren Williams ran
for 52 yds on 15 carriers which was
good on Seahawks part however had
two of the Rams three TD on the ground.

Bobby Wagner had 19 tackles for the
Seahawks on his return however  it
didn't help a lot on defense.

I thought the Seahawks would win
ten games however the Seahawks
would have won the game.  The Seahawks
take on the Lions in Detroit next weekend.
I thought the Seahawks would win this one two but may not now.  The Seahawks have
a hard road schedule however I thought they win the first WO games.  The Huskies
to find a way to win..Go Hawks 😍😍😍

Mariners Blow Another Game

The Mariners could easily be looking
at sweeping the Rays on their field
on Sunday instead they have lost
two games late.

Whose fault is it? The pitchers need
to do the job however the coaching
need to put them in place of success
don't you think.

Saturday the Mariners hsd a good lead
however let the Rays back in it giving up
four runs in the seventh. Luke Weaver
pitched four plus innings. He gave up
two runs in the fifth and two more in
the seventh.

Gabe Speier came in the seventh inning
with one out. It was too late at that point.
Sometimes the Mariners need to scrap the
book. Rays are a good team but when
you are winning by several runs you can't
leave pitchers in. I am not sure the Mariners have figured that.

My major point is the Mariners are in a
playoff race and what they did in July
doesn't apply in September unless you
are out of the race. The Rays scored
two more runs for 7-5 win.

Please give the pitchers and team best
chance to win.

The Huskies beat Tulsa on Saturday 43-10.
Tulsa scored their lone TD in the 4th quarter. Dylan Morris came in late 4th qtr at qb to score another TD. Two for two on drives. The Huskies defense looks better than last year however to be a top team
in the nation they have to do better. The
good news they know that.

WSU Cougars upset Wisconsin 31-22.
Cigars led 24-9 at half time. Wisconsin scored 13 in the third qtr with the Cougars
going scoreless then they scored a TD
in the fourth quarter while Wisconsin went blank.

Qb Cameron Ward three 32 times with
20 completion for 212 yards and two
TD's.  Cougars scored on a fumble by Wisconsin in the second qtr after a field goal. The TD in 4th qtr was on a one yard
run.  Next week will be home again
against Northern Colorado.

Beating Wisconsin will Cougars along with
the Beavers be invited to the Big Ten?
If so this would make two divisions of
ten. Go Cougs!

Mariners Fail To Win

George Kirby got off to a rough start
Friday night. He became sick missing
a start then a tough time out in his last
start.

Kirby ended up walking guys in the first
inning loading the bases. Rays got a
couple runs.

The Mariners came back in the second
with Suarez hitting a solo home and
Dylan driving in a run to tie at two all.

Julio Rodriguez had a home run in the
third for M's to take lead. Cal Raleigh
hit a home run in the fifth so.M's
leading 4-2. Kirby had settled down.

Things look like the Mariners will take
the first two games however the
Rays scored four runs with two homers.
One off of Kirby and another off Isaiah
Campbell who pitched well Thursday
night. The Rays hit another home run in
the eighth. Final Rays 7 M's 4

The Mariners had enough offense you
would have thought they would win.
The pitching failed them this time.

The Mariners don't have a scheduled
starter as yet though Woo would be
the starter. Maybe the Mariners will have
someone else start instead. Stay tuned.

Seahawks Friday

The Seahawks had there Thursday
practice with several players not
practicing for their injuries.

Safety Jamal Adams whose contract
was restructured this week where this seasons salary was changed to a signing bonus saving $6.5 million on the salary
cap. The next two years the salary is over $24 million each so they will likely have to
restructure  them to if he is on the team.that is. Adams is expected to miss Sunday's opener along with Devon Witherspoon the Seahawks top draft pick this year at cornerback.

Seven players from the roster won't suit up for the game so five other guys besides
Adams and Witherspoon won't play either.
Since football is a rough sport it is silly to have any players to sit and you have to pay them as well. Go Hawks!

Castillo. and Bullpen Shutout Out Rays

The Mariners  are  playing one of the
best teams in the major leagues in
the Tampa Bay  Rays on their field.

The two teams are  playing a four
game series s winning the opener
is important  however it wasn't easy.
In fact the Mariners  only scored one
run in the second inning when Mike
Ford drove in Eugenio Suarez with
single after his double.

Neither team had very  many hits on
the evening. Luis Castillo pitched a
fantastic  game going six innings
giving up only four hits, struckout
eight and walked  four. He did throw
108 pitches so the reason wasn't
able to  go seven.

The bullpen going three innings did
not give up a hit at all. Isaiah Campbell
came in the seventh and struck out
all three batters he faced. Matt Brash
who has been going well  recently
struck out one. Andre Munoz who
recently  has had trouble did hit a
batter to make it interesting struck
out two and fanned the last batter to
end the game.

The Mariners are now a half game behind
the Astros who were idle. George Kirby
expected to start Friday. We hope he
does better than his last start.  Feeling
healthier I am sure he will.

Shortstop  Colt Emerson the Mariners
number one pick this year got off to
a hot start at low level A Modesto is
batting .261 right  now in 12 games.
Colt is the M's number four prospect
right now last year's number one pick
Cole Young another sh9 is now  number
one.Young who started the season at
Modesto  is now at Everett where is
hitting .292 in 45 games. Catcher Harry
Ford the number two prospect  after
being  number one at the start of the
season is batting .255 at Everett.

Be nice to see those three along with other
prospects on the team in the years ahead.

Mariners Power Comes Alive

The Seattle Mariners were able  to win
the final game in Cincinnati against
the Reds 8-4.:This salvaged the series
which would have been nice to have
won onevof the other two games after losing two out of three in New York against the  Mets.

Now go to Tampa to take on the Rays for four games. Hopefully they can
take three out of four to come home on a
positive note.

The Mariners pitching only allowed a run
per inning four times which was good.
The Reds scored first in the first inning.
The Mariners scored two runs on a homer
by Mike Ford who has done well in that
manner.

In the fifth inning the Mariners scored
five runs in the fourth inning to Make
it 7-1. Ty France who has been struggling at  the plate  drove in Eugenio Suarez. Josh
Rojas walked after Mike Ford grounded
out. JP Crawford who has shown power
this year hit  a three run homer his 15
of the season. After Julio was out and not
having a hit  Cal Raleigh hit a solo home run.

The Reds scored a run in the 5th and 6th
inning to make it a little interesting. The Mariners scored another run in the
seventh. The Reds got their final run
in the 9th.

Logan Gilbert started gave up seven hits,
two walks, nine strike outs and three runs
in five and one thirds inning. Matt Brash
came in got the final two outs though
gave up a hit. Gabe Speier and Justin
Topa who didn't do well in previous
appearance though fantastic on the
gave up no hits or walks in an inning.
Andre Munoz gave up a home run in
the ninth inning. Did strike out two.

The Astros still lead the Mariners by
one. They swept the Rangers scoring
13, 14 and 12 in the three games. Astros will be home after a day off Thursday
against the Padres. Hopefully they cool
down.

Go M's.

Another Tough Loss

The Mariners have had  a tough road
trip do far. They began losing two
games against the Mets now the
first two against the Reds.

Tuesday looked like a good shot in
winning however Justin Topa who
has been pitching well unfortunately
gave up a three run homer in the
8th. The Mariners weren't able to
score a run in the top of the 9th
with two runs on base. Eugenio Suarez
who didn't start and came in late
was up to the plate. Red pitcher Diaz
was having a wild time gave up three
balls to Suarez after Mike Ford had
been hit by a pitch. Instead of taking
a walk on a high pitch he hit to center
field for the final out of the inning.
Late in a game like this no matter how
much you want to the batter should not
go swing at a pitch until the pitcher is
able to get a ball over the plate.

Munoz who hadn't pitch a few games
came in the bottom of the 9th. He gave up
two hits and the ball game.

Servais often managed the game the
way the odds seems to be instead of
letting the game go as it should and
often back fires in my mind.

Now the Mariners have to see if they
can salvage the final game of the
series before going to Tampa Bay
for four games. Go M's.

Another Mariners Loss

The Seattle Mariners are in the
pennant race so does this put
stress on the players or like most
over the season they go over a
period where they lose?

I am sure we are all disappointed
they are in this stretch of losing.
We hope this is a short stretch
and they get back on their winning
ways.

Monday afternoon Bryan Woo started
giving up five runs in the first two innings.
The Mariners had him pitch for five
innings to save the bullpen. It would have
been nice to bring in a reliever however
he settled down and the bullpen pitched
a lot in the Mets series. Fortunately Woo
didn't give up more runs so gave offense
to score and get back in the gave. The
trouble the Mariners were able to score
only five runs in the game.

Final Reds 6 M's 3

Julio Rodriquez  had a home run in the
the 4th inning and Mike Ford his second in
two days in the 5th. JP Crawford drove
in Ty France in the 9th with Cal Raleigh
on base too. The Mariners couldn't
score further.

Bryce Miller starts Tuesday so hopefully
the M's can stop this skid.

Mets Take Two.From.Mariners

I am sure most of us thought the
Mariners would take two out of
three against the Mets. The only win
was on Saturday where JP Crawford
hit a home run in the 9th inning in
a 8-7 score..

Sunday George Kirby wasn't sharp
after being sick and not pitching
for ten days. He gave up four runs
with three earned in three innings.
Also he threw too many pitches in
this 6-3 loss.

I am not sure it was wise to.pitch
Kirby in the third inning after giving
up a run in the first and second inning.

The Mariners bullpen gave up two
runs by three tier two relievers.

The Mariners three runs happened in
the fourth inning when Dominic Canzone
and Mike Ford hit home run back to back.

Mariners had only six hits with only
Teoscar Hernandez having the only
hit in top of the lineup.

Rangers won and Astros beat so they
both are a game  behind the Mariners.
Bryan Woo starts Monday at the Reds.
Go.M's

Mariners Lose Opener In Big Apple

The Seattle Mariners had opportunities to win
the opener in the series against the
Mets but couldn't score more than one
run which was a homer by JP Crawford
in the fourth inning.

Final Mets 2 Mariners 1

Takeaways had enough hits with seven
however at the wrong times.

Caballero was picked off in the 9th
inning running for Cal Raleigh who
walked. A no no for sure. Sam Haggerty
and Dylan Moore both on.the bench.
Why didn't they go with them. More
experience and could have saved Caballero.

Like has happened over the years including
this year the starter pitches fantastic
but no run support. Gilbert gave up a run
in the sixth inning. A home run for that matter
to.tie. Gilbert had nine strike outs.
Gilbert should be considered for Cy Young
as much as Luis Castillo and George Kirby.
Castillo starts Saturday followed by Kirby
on Sunday. Still hope to take two out of three.

OK to lose this game as long as they win
at least 16 in September though winning
one would been a good start.

How do you like  these takeaways?
I think I will continue this way.

We will look at the minor leaguers coming
up this month. See how the top prospects.
I saw Harry Ford had a good August.  Let
you know how he did. See him in double A
next year it looks like. May make his debut
sometime next year. Certainly should be
in Seattle in 2025.

Until next time go M's

Friday's Look At Huskies and Cougars

Washington Huskies and WSU Cougars are both favored on
Saturday. Huskies play at home against Boise State. They are
favored by two touchdowns however
this will be difficult of the two games.

Michael Penix Jr is the starter however Dylan Morris will be
his backup once again. Hopefully Morris will see action in
the second half.

Wide receiver starters are still the same guys. Denzel Boston,
Germie Bernard and freshmen Taeshaun will be their backups.
Hope to see them in the fourth quarter.

Cameron Davis out for the season so transfer Dillon Johnson
is the starter with Will Nixon at number two. Sure to
see a few other running backs as well.

Redshirt freshman Parker Brailsford is the surprise being the
starter at right guard. The Huskies are known for rotation on
both offensive and defensive lines so the backups will get plenty
opportunities. Matteo Mele will get most of the reps st center
especially when Penix is in at qb.

The tight end was a competition as well. Devin Culp won the
job as starter and  Jack Westover will see plenty of action.
He is more the blocker of the two. May see him in at fullback
in short yardage cases. We will have to see who ends up being
number three.

On defense is as anticipated for the starters however the
backups are experiences and see plenty of action. Who is
in.will primarily be players best against the run or passing game.
Boise State is a running team and starting  out going that
direction. However they fall behind early we should see
their passing game in action.

The Cougars are a 10.5 favorite while being
on.the road. Cameron Ward returns as qb for the second
season. They hope backup redshirt freshman John Mateer
will see some action too.

At wide receiver they have two transfers  in Josh Kelly and
Kyle Williams. Lincoln Victor is the third receiver.

For the first time in a long time the Cougars have a tight end.
Cooper Mathers won the starting spot.

The two primary running backs will be starter Nakia Watson
and Jaylen Jenkins.

Offensive line brings experience along with young guys
as backups.

On defense the Cougars bring back experience however
have a couple  transfers. At middle linebacker will be
Devin Richardson a senior transfer from the Texas
Longhorns. The other is junior Kapena Gushiken who played
two years of junior college ball.

Now we will see on Saturday as the two games as
expected. Go Dawgs and Cougs.
