Seattle Kraken 2023 Draft

The Kraken had 10 draft picks in
this years draft. The second round
had three picks. There was thought
they may have traded one or two of
picks for a veteran player however
no trade happen whether talked
about or not.

The Kraken's first pick was Eduard Sale
a left winger from Czech Republic as the
20th overall in the first round. The question
will he be with Kraken next season.

First second pick 50th overall Carson Rehkopf another left winger taken from
the Ontario Hockey League. This means we won't see both of them in the game the
same time in my estimation.

Two picks later they selected Oscar Fisker
Molgaard from Denmark but played
professionally in Sweden. The third second
round pick Lukas Dragicevic out of nearby
Tri-City of the Western Hockey League is
a defenseman..

In the third round the Kraken selected
another player of the WHL defenseman
Caden Price who played for Kelowna.
Round four selected center Andrei Loshko
who played in the QM. JHL.

Round five the Kraken drafted a player who
played even closer at home for Everett.
Kaden Hammell of the WHL. The Kraken
took two players in the sixth round. The first was Visa Vedenpaa a goalie from
Finland. Be interesting to see be on the
team this coming season or not. The second pick was center Zeb Forsfjall
out of Sweden.

The final player the Krsken took in round seven was right wing Zaccharya Wisdom
Of Cedar Rapids in United States Hockey.
It will be interesting to see who will end up
in a Kraken uniform. Stay tune and see.

Seahawks Offense Continue

The Seahawks drafted five offensive
players. We know about the two running
backs and the wide receiver in the first
round. They added guard Anthony Bradford
of LSU in the 4th round and center Olusequn Oluwatimi from Michigan in
round five. Last year they drafted Charles
Cross and Abraham Lucas with the first
two picks. They should show improvement
heading into their second season.

The Seahawks signed free agent Evan
Brown at center. The team needed a
new center so he and rookie Oluwatimi
will compete as starter. The guards be
another competition at both. Bradford will
bring added depth and could become starter too.

DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett will be
the top two receivers once again. They
drafted Ohio State receiver Jaxon Smith-Njiba with the second first round pick.
Jaxon will likely start in the slot however
we could see Metcalf and Lockett there
as well depending on matchups. Dee Eskridge drafted in the second round
in 2021 hasn't played a lot because of injuries. He is still considered the fourth
receiver however some think he might
be traded. It is hard to know how man
receivers the Seahawks will keep however
likely five or six. They do have eight other
receivers on the roster to compete for two
or three spots. See how that goes during camp and the three preseason games.

The Seahawks likely will go with three
tight ends with Will Dissly being the best
blocker however he will catch some
passes as well. Noah Fant and Colby
Parkinson will be the other two tight
ends. They are known more for their
receiving abilities. Depending in the
situation we will see two if not all
three in the game at the same. They
have Tyler Mabry as the fourth tight
end. Won't get a lot of playing time
unless one or more of the other two
get hurt. It will be interesting how
it works with wide receivers and tight
ends.

We will see what other news comes up with the Seahawks with training camp coming
in three or four times. The Huskies and.
Cougars training camp will start almost the same.

Next time up let you know how the Kraken
did in the draft which took place Wednesday night and Thursday. They hsd
ten picks in seven rounds. Surprising they
didn't trades. May look to sign free agents
or make some trades. Stay fund.

Mariners Lose Series

Wednesday afternoon  the Mariners  lost to
Washington Nationals 4-1. Quite a disappointment
is an  understatement.  Not much else to
say about  the offense. They did quite well on
Monday but since ce went to sleep.

Nothing else to say since the pitching  has been
good.  They continue missing victories they
should have.

At this point  Jerry  Dipoto  and his staff need
to go out and pick up a hitter. Giving multiple
prospects and possibly  a player on their team.
The recent offense  where they score a lot of
runs gave optimism however that is over. Again
this happening before all-star game  coming to
Seattle. The  Mariners  all-star  selection  should
be a pitcher. Julio Rodriguez is the big name but
he isn't  playing like an all-star. The Mariners
could have had a lot of sellouts but unless turning
around this won't  happen.  Picking up a high
priced player would have paid off.

The NHL  draft is happening  right now. The Kraken
have the 20th  pick in the first round and have ten
picks all together.  Not sure they will keep  them all.
Bringing  back a veteran would not be a surprise.

Next blog not only will  we give you the pick we will
look at the Seahawks wide receivers and offensive
line. More experience on the  offensive line will
help the running  game. Having a good running
game will  help the passing  game  to. Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose In Extra Innings

One thing is different this year than last
the Mariners are losing more games in
extra innings. In fact they had the based
loaded and couldn't put a single run
across the plate. Final 7-4 Nationals
Cin eleven innings.  Dylan Moore struck
out with Cal Raleigh to end the game.

Bryan Woo pitched well again going
five innings giving up two runs though
only was earned. The unearned run was
in the first inning when Woo threw a
wild throw to pick off the runner at first
and went around the bases to score.
Teoscar Hernandez hit a home run
with Ty France on base to take the
lead 2-1. The Mariners scored another
run in the 4th and 7th.

Paul Sewald came in the 8th however
gave up a solo home run for the Nationals
to tie. Trevor Gott who just came off
the injured list gave up the three runs
in the 11th. Chris Flexen was designated
for assignment with Gott's activation
to the roster. Wish him the best whenever
he goes..

Mariners final game of the series is
Wednesday afternoon. We hope the
Mariners can take it as the Tamps
Bay Rays come in on Friday. Need
this game terribly. Lefty Patrick Corbin
goes for the Nationals against Logan
Gilbert. We know the Mariners will have
their platoon players against lefties to
start. Go M's.

Mariners Nail Down Opener of Series

The Mariners are looking more like
the team lately to bring success. Now
we have to see more often and consistent.

Luis Castillo early on didn't look like
team's ace and more like he has in
recent times. The Nationals had a lead
off home run in the first inning and JP Crawford followed the same way in the
bootom of the inning. I understand this
may have been the first time in Mariners
history at home anyway this happened.

The Nationals followed by getting a run
in the second and third innings to make
it 3-1. Eugenio Suarez hit a two-run homer
to tie the game in the fourth. The fifth inning the Mariners scored three more
runs in  the fashion they have had more
success. Kolten Wong hit a double to
right center that was inches from being
a homer.

Mike Ford had two hits which were unusual
for him both singled. He drove in one of
two runs in the 8th. The Nationals scored
a run in the 9th however the game ended
with Paul Sewald striking out the batter
on third. Sewald came in with the Nationals having the bases loaded. The umpire called
the third strike which was very questionable and the batter could have
gone to first and another run score. I believe major league baseball should do
something. A game should never end
on a questionable call even a strike. The
rules may change next year but how about
now. Obviously the call favored the Mariners however in the future may not.
The call should have gone to New York
for review.   Another thing I don't like
which wasn't in this case however umpires
often call a ball or strike where it is in the
catcher's mit instead of where it goes over
the plate. Rules won't change however major league baseball needs to look at
it and let the umpires know how to make
the calls.  Go M's.

Another Disappointing Road Trip

The Seattle Mariners had an opportunity
to at least split the six game road trip or
win the road trip instead did neither.

On Sunday the Mariners offense tanked it
though the pitching was once again good.
This is becoming a disappointment to the
fans. Only the pitching has been good most
of the season while the offense hasn't though they tease us on occasion what
they did  on Thursday and Friday. The manager can only do so much. The players
need to look at where success comes in.
It doesn't happen just hitting home runs.
In.this game the two runs were scored on
a two-run homer by Cal Raleigh. In total
they had three hits.

Kirby on the otherhand went into.the
seventh inning up one out  before exiting.
He actually gave up two earned runs with
an unearned run. The bullpen kept them
in two score at least four runs.

Another disappointment is the Mariners
made the playoffs for the first time in
over twenty years. The team could turn things around and do the same. Outside
of playing in the World Series it is the
first time the Mariners have hosted an
all-star game since 2001. This would
have given them the chance again to
multiple players on the roster instead
they probably have one player. If they
have more than one is the league decided
the home team should have two unless
the Mariners find a way to go on a good
streak for the next couple weeks.

We could blame Jerry Dipoto for not
bringing in more horses and Servais
managing the tram however it comes
down to the position players. We can
analyze each player however what is the
point.

The Mariners success further is each
player play what they are capable of.
They don't have to have their best season
just what they are capable. Though
he has lately not played as well as he did earlier Jarred Kelenic has played capable
ball. In fact we don't know what his ceiling
is. Ty France has played well at moments
to. Though he has hit well lately Teoscar Hernandez hasn't and neither has the
rest of the group. Now start doing it
guys so we can a smile on our face at
the end of season. What is the point
the pitching does the job but not the
offense. Go M's.

Mariners Lose In Ten

The Seattle Mariners offense sort
of struggled on the day and in the
end they lost 6-4 in 10 innings on
a home run.

It was one of those games where
the Mariners got down, tied, down
again, tied, went ahead, then tied
and lost on a home run in the 10th.

This is a game they had an opportunity
to win however to close to know how
it go in the end.

Mike Ford at dh had two home runs
on the day while JP Crawford was
back in had a home run too. What was
interesting about Crawford's home run
it hit off the right field fence. Originally
wasn't a home run though Crawford
thought it was then ended up at third
like it was a triple. The umpires confired
and ruled a home run. Julio Rodriguez
had a home run in the sixth inning. In
fact Julio had three of the Mariners
eight hits. Crawford and Ford had two
each and Cal Raleigh had one.

Though the home runs allowed the Mariners have a chance to win the
previous two games they showed
their best success is when they
have multiple hits including doubles
to win. We hope Sunday the Mariners
find a way to win and come home
with a 3-3 road trip. Though it may
not be success it is better than failure
though the previous two games gave
us hope.

Bryce Miller lasted only  going into
fifth inning with Matt Brash to come
in too make things not worse and
give the team a chance. The bullpen
did a fine job until Justin Tops gave
up a two run homer in.the 10th. Again
the Mariners offense had trouble scoring
when they could.

Right now top prospect Harry Ford is
batting only .246 at Everett in 62 games
though he could get hot in the next 62
however he does have eight home runs
so he should have more than last year
when he had 11. Remember he is still
working on his catching. Whether he
stays at Everett the rest of the season
or not he should be at double A Arkansas
next year unless like Julio he makes the
jump to the majors though the outfielder
did spend some time at Arkansas
in the same year as at Everett.

Shortstop Cole Young drafted number one
last year is in his second season being
at low A. Young is currently hitting .266 at
Modesto. There is a possibility he could
go to Everett before the end of the season.
Hard to know the Mariners could bring up
both Young and Ford at the same time
but since they were the top picks in 2021
and 2022 they could be two years in a row
as well since they were both high school
players. Let you know how others are
doing in the minors this year. Go M's

Mariners Come Alive Again

Not sure what Manzger Scott Servais said to
the team Thursday  before the game against
the Yankees  but it  poured over to Friday's
game against the Orioles in Baltimore
winning 13-1.

Everyone  in the lineup contributed in
one fashion or another getting at least one
hit. The Mariners  scored a run in the second
inning then Tom Murphy  hit a two-run  homer
in the third. Figure what he contributes when
he is in the lineup  is a plus. Teoscar Hernandez
remains hot having three hits including a solo
homer in the 4th. The Mariners  were leading 6-0
after that.

In the seventh Logan Gilbert  gave up a solo home
run only  second hit of the game he gave up. He
layer down 14 batters in a row. It was his last inning?
The Mariners exploded for seven runs in the 8th
without a home run. The Mariners showed they can
hit and score runs without a homer.

Mariners  next game is Saturday afternoon  at 1:05
Pacific time. Bryce  Miller  will go for the Mariners.
Hopefully  another  good amount of runs scored.

Julio Rodriguez  announced  he will be in the
Home run derby at the all-star game.  Not known
he will be in the game or not but he won't be
starting  or any other Mariner player.  Looks like
the Toronto  Blue  Jay's  have most of the starters
in the all-star game. We might see a flock (sorry
for the pun) of  Blue Jay's  fans at the game.

Mariners Offense Comes Alive

The Mariners  offense  came alive on
Thursday  night for the team to take
the final game of  the series  against
the  Yankees.  We are glad they weren't
swept heading into Baltimore. It would
be nice to  see the offense pick it up
the rest of the time on the road.

Julio  had a single with one out in the
first inning  then Ty France  often was
hit by a pitch. Teoscar Hernandez who
has been  hot lately including three hits
in this game drove in Julio with a hit.
Eugenio Suarez hit a double down the
left field  line to score two runs. Mike
Ford had a sacrifice  fly to  make it 4-0.

In the second inning Kolten Wong who
has been struggling  all season  had his
first home run of the year. Ty France had
a home run too.

The Mariners had two more runs in the
third and fourth innings  as well. In the
fourth Teoscar Hernandez had a home
run as well as Cal Raleigh making it 10-0.
The Mariners  didn’t  have  any more  runs
in the game however  I  feel  that is ok
as long as they save for more on Friday.

Bryan Woo  pitched a marvelous game
going into the sixth inning.  He got one out
and gave up two  hits when Tyler Adcock
came in the game and had a quick double
play. Woo was pitching a no-hitter until the
6th inning. Chris Flexen  who has been
struggling on the mound went two innings
and he gave up  two  runs in the  9th.
Final Mariners  10 Yankees  2

Woo has been a big surprise  since his first
outing. In his last three games the opponents
haven't been able to  touch his fast ball which
he has been  throwing about  80 percent of the
time or his other pitchers. What will the Mariners
do when Marco Gonzales comes back. The
answer will happen  when Marco  does come back.

Beginning Look At Seahawks Offense Heading into Season 2023

I believe the upcoming season  success
will depend a lot on an improved defense
however the  offense  will need to play
their part to.

Since Pete Carroll  has been  coach of
the Seahawks  the running game has been
an important part. What the Seahawks
have done is add two new members  to
the running  game  through this year’s  draft.
They have had issues in recent  seasons
keeping the running backs healthy.

Ken Walker coming off a rookie  season
over 1000 yards expected to be the starter.
Zach Charbonnet  second round pick from
UCLA  is expected to  be the primary backup.
Besides giving Walker a breather we could see
him in on short yardage  situations including
at the goal.

Not sure how many running backs the Seahawks
will keep 7th round Kenny McIntosh from Georgia.
He will make every effort  to be the number two
running.  DeeJay Dallas a fourth round pick in 2020
draft will look to get more playing time too.

As we know the starting  quarterback  is  expected
to be Geno Smith  after signing a free agent contract
after being the starter last season. Drew Lock is the
number two quarterback after resigning with the
Seahawks.  Holton Ahlers a rookie undrafted free agent
signing is the third quarterback. He could be on the
practice squad  he makes the grade.

Next time  on the Seahawks we will look at the wide receivers
and possibly  the offensive line. Go Hawks!

Mariners Continue To Sputter

I am sure you are as frustrating  with me about
the Mariners  offense. Wednesday  night  they
scored only two runs and they were in the 8th
and 9th innings.  I  can understand  against Cole
however the Yankees  didn't  have  as good of
a pitcher starting. In fact his era before Wednesday
was 4.98. You think the Mariners  could have scored
a one or two off of him.

The Mariners  had their first run on a home run by
Dylan Moore who had pinch hit for Kelton Wong
and the second Jarred  Kelenic  drove in Julio
who had walked. Jose Caballero who played
shortstop  in place of JP Crawford who right now
is day to day. Ty France  had  the other hit.

The Yankees without Aaron  Judge  who I hoped
give the Mariners  a  chance to  win this series
lost Willie Calhoun  Wednesday night. I  hope with
two down the Mariners  will  at least take game three
before heading  to  Baltimore.

Bryan Woo  pitches for the Mariners  so hopefully a
third straight good outing  and the offense comes
alive for a change.  It would  be  nice  if  the Mariners
can pick up another bat or two. Go M's

Mariners Lose Opening of Road Trip

The Seattle  Mariners  play a six game road
trip this week. They just got off a 4-2 home
series. It would be nice if  they could do the
same on this road trip. It won't be any easier
especially  losing the opener.

Not surprised  the Mariners  lost since they
had to face likely  the best pitcher in the
American  League  in Gerit Cole who is now
8-1. Wouldn't  be  surprised  if he is the starter
in the all-star game  in Seattle  in  July.

The Mariners  had only success from the bottom
of the order beginning  with Jarred Kelenic who
drove in the only Mariners  run the day.

The Yankees  scored a run in the first and two
more in the second. George  Kirby  went seven
innings followed  by rookie Tyler Adcock for
an inning. Cole seven and one-thirds innings
giving up four hits. This looks so familiar most
of the season for the Mariners though expected
against Cole.

Luis Castillo  pitches Wednesday  against the
Yankees. He needs to what he did last year in
New York after the Mariners  acquired  him.

JP Crawford  was injured suffering  trouble to
his right shoulder. Not sure how serious and
he left the game in the 3rd inning. There is a
good possibility he will  go on the injured list
but for how long we will  see. Dylan Moore
played shortstop  the rest of the game.

Seahawks Defensive Line

Last season  the Seahawks  played seven players
over the season  in the traditional  defensive  end
and defensive  tackle positions.

They have made changes with only Myles Adams
and Bryan Mone listed as defensive  tackles returning.
Ponna Ford and AL Woods were released or did not
resign with the Seahawks.  The three defensive ends
were not brought back either.

Cameron Young was the only defensive lineman
drafted this year in the 4th round out of Mississippi
State.  He is expected to get a lot of playing  time.

Dre'Mont Jones was the Seahaw6 biggest acquisition
in the free agent  market.  He played with the Denver
Broncos.  He is listed as a defensive  end however
the Seahawks will use inside as well.

Jarring Reed a defensive  end resigned  with the
Seahawks  who he previously  played for. The Seahawks
have three other players looking  for  playing time
outside of Reed and Jones to get playing time or
making the roster. As noted before edge rushers and
and defensive  ends can be interchanged. Most edge
rushers can be listed as outside linebackers.  Again
it depends when they are playing for the pass or running
game.  Example the Seahawks are considered a running
team so most defensive teams will them against  the  run
on first and second primarily.  A passing team play the run
on first down and pass on second and third unless short yardage
depending  how the offense usually  goes.

Jonah  Tavai undrafted free agent from San Diego is listed as
as the only nose tackle however may see Cameron Young  starting.
A lot depends what scheme they are playing in.  The question will
the defensive  line be better than last year. They have a young
group that looks possibly more talented but we will see. In the
whole the defense  all across could be better. Making the playoffs
and  making a big splash will  decide the issue.  Go Hawks!

Seahawks Monday A Look At Linebackers and Edge Rushers

The Seattle  Mariners  have Monday off
so a good time to look at the linebackers
and edge rushers.

The  linebackers  are shown as fifteen listed.
Also six defensive  ends. The edge rushers  are
shown as either  outside linebackers  or defensive
ends for the most part.

The Seahawks  will likely  play with two linebackers
in the middle  with two on the outside which you
can call edge rushers. At times they can be
known as defensive  ends. All lot depends whether
they are playing  three-four or four-three defense.
In the past the Seahawks  played three-four most
of the time with a middle linebacker and two outside
linebackers. Defensive  line would be two ends and
two defensive  tackles.

We will likely  see Bobby  Wagner in the middle most
of the time  in either formations. How much will depend
how much he has slowed  down as well. Jordyn Brooks
may miss the beginning of the season. When he is
available  we will  see him side by side with Wagner.
On passing downs one or the other will be in there.
When Jamal Adams  is able to play we could see him
at outside  linebacker/edge rusher instead of safety.
The Seahawks  likely  move him around.

The Seahawks  signed free agent Devin Bush to help out
in the middle. He may come in for Wagner or start before
Brooks  is  able to play. The Seahawks  didn't  draft any
inside  linebackers, however they signed three college
undrafted free agents including Washington
Huskies Cam Bright  who played for them  one season
after playing  at University of Pittsburgh.  Any of those
could make the team.

The Seahawks  did draft two edge rushers  who may
start for them next season. Derrick  Hall out of Auburn
was drafted in the second round and Mike Morris in the
fifth round from  Michigan has been impressive. Darrell
Taylor is one who has  come who should get plenty of
chances especially  to rush the passer. Alton Robinson
who didn't  play last year is back to see if he can make
a difference.

Other players will try to  make their name and place known
in training  camp  coming up. Next time we will look at
the defensive  linemen  where there is a big change.
Most be seen as tackles but some as defensive ends in
the 3-4 when they are playing it. Go Hawks!

Jarred Late Heroics Give M's Series

Sunday afternoon game was another close
until the bottom 8th inning. The Mariners
were leading 2-1 on a Julio Rodriguez double in the third inning.

The Mariners were able to get the
bases loaded primarily on the White
Sox pitcher being wild. Jarred Kelenic
hit a triple going the other way to left field.
Julio's double was hit the other way
as well. Mariners do best win hitting the way. Best way to go unless the pitcher
makes a mistake.

Bryce Miller the Mariners needed to
have him go a way because the relievers
had been used especially Munoz and
Sewald who had pitched the last two
games against White Sox.

This means the Mariners went 4-2 on
the home stand. Now they go to
New York and Baltimore. It would be
nice to do the same. I would like a
split though beating the Yankees
twice at least be good.

The Mariners have Monday off
so have a look at Seahawks linebackers
and Edge Rushers.

Seattle Seahawks Defensive Backs

The Seahawks  have  like 17 defensive  backs
on their 90 man roster right now. When the
season starts  likely  go with 10 or 12 on the
65 man roster.  This means the remaining
could be on the practice  squad. I  would
say at least three on the practice  squad at
least. They go with 10 on  the 65 roster five
most likely  be on the practice squad.

Right now  we are not Jamal Adams we are
not sure he will  start the season or not. The
thing about Jamal we could see him at outside
linebacker  or edge rusher at times. Julian Love
who the Seahawks  acquired during the off-season
could  start in his place. He likely  will play a lot
at strong  safety even if Jamal is on the team
from day one.

Quandre Diggs is expected to  start  at free safety.
Jerrick Reed  drafted in the sixth round out of New
Mexico looked good in ota's so he could be one of
the safeties. The Seahawks may go with one or
two other safeties depending on Adam's.

Devon Witherspoon the Seahawks number one
pick is expected  to start in the slot or better known
as nickel back.  This could change during camp.
Michael  Jackson who had a good  ota's may still
start at one of the cornerback spots. Tariq Woolen
was a great rookie last year should start at his
position as well.  He had surgery recently however
should be ready  to  go.

Colby Bryant  and  Tre Brown who missed most of
last year should be the next guys to  play at the corners.
The  rest of the guys  will be fighting  for  the  rest of
spots. It  will be interesting to  see who fits in as the
backups and who goes on the practice squad.

Next time  on the Seahawks we will look at the
inside  linebackers  and edge rushers. Go team!

Offense Struggles Saturday Afternoon

The Mariners had their opportunities
Saturday afternoon losing in 11 innings
to the White Sox 4-3.
It looked like serveral occasions the Mariners would win but couldn't get
a hit after the fifth inning. Logan Gilbert
pitched well into the sixth inning when
he left with one out. Matt Brash finished
the sixth. Topa and Munoz did well in
the seventh and eighth. Paul Sewald
gave up the tying run in the 9th inning.
The Mariners had Julio and Hernandez
on second and third after both steamed a base. Cal Raleigh pinch hitting for Jarred
Kelenic with one out couldn't hit at least
a sacrifice fly struck out and Caballero
bounced out to end the 10th.

In the 11th the White Sox were able to
score a run but the Mariners were unable
tie it. So it was that.  Zach Remillard
who came in Tim Anderson who had
to leave the game drove in both the
tying and winning run made his major
league debut.  His first at bat was a
bunt single. He had three hits on the
day. Quite to say the truth.

See if Bryce Miller can help the Mariners
win the final game and the series for the
Mariners on Sunday

We will go over the Seahawks defensive
backs Sunday morning

Mariners Win By One

The Seattle Mariners haven't had
a lot of one run wins this season.
In fact I don't remember the last
one. I am sure some people do.

The final: Mariners 3 White Sox 2

The game Friday night was on
Apple TV, unless you have their
programming you were probably
not watching the game. I think
major league baseball needs to
change things.  I know they want
to make more money on TV however
they need to find a way for those
who watch many games on local
broadcasting to see the game. I
figure having Root Sports I am paying
extra already to see them play. The
Mariners are the main reason I have
Root Sports. I may wstch occasional
Kraken game but until the Sonics
come back I don't watch the NBA
and I have no idea who are on the
Trail Blazers. I am sure they have
dome familiar names but I don't
know they play for Portland.

The scoring all happened in the
fifth, sixth and seventh innings.
Bryan Woo pitched well for the second
time in a row. Both runs he gave up
were solo home runs. Woo went five
and two-thirds innings striking out
nine besides the two home runs
he gave up only one other hit and
no walks. I expect another team
will have success when they explode
on his fastball.

The Mariners hsd nine hits on the
evening with four being doubles.
That is what I like. Eugenio Suarez
hsd the first double however the
bottom of the batting did nothing
behind him. Mike Ford started dh then
AJ Pollock came in to pinch hit and
take over. When are they going to stop
doing that. For the most part it hasn't
worked all season.

Julio, Ty France and Teoscar Hernandez
two hits each. Julio had a double and so
did Hernandez. The Mariners won the
game on Hernandez second hit a homer
in the seventh. Crawford scored on France
hit and Julio on Hernandez double.

Logan Gilbert starts Saturday afternoon. Hopefully he will do better than his last
outing. Another tight game will be alright
as long as the Mariners win. Go team!

Seahawks Friday

The Seattle  Mariners  had another  Thursday  off
so we will look at the Seattle  Seahawks.

Training  camp in be in about  another month.
The success  of  Seahawks  does come  down
to how well  the defense will be. We know
by the last Super Bowl  championship it comes
to having a good  if not great defense.

The Seahawks  have  Bobby Wagner  back for
the middle of the linebackers crew. How well
he does we have to see the ones that come
along beside him along with  the  linemen.

The Seahawks  drafted equally on the defense
and offense although it would have been nice
to have one or more defensive players  however
they drafted the best  player  available at the time.

The Seahawks  certainly  improved  at cornerback
drafting Devon Witherspoon as the number one
pick and fifth overall in the draft. Right now he is
listed to play in the slot.

On Monday we will  look at the defensive backs
for the Seahawks coming into the season.  Go Hawks!

Mariners Were Hoping To Sweep

The Mariners were hoping to sweep
the Miami Marlins at home but it
wasn't meant to be.

The Marlins won 4-1. It was an interesting
game. Luis Castillo walked a career high
six walks and the Mariners had only four
hit.

The Mariners could have had more hits
however the Marlins outfield  did a great
job making fantastic catches against the
fence. This included a catch in the 9th
when the Marlins took away a grand slam
from Eugenio Suarez in the 9th inning
giving the Mariners a tie. Instead the
Mariners only had sacrifice fly and the
only one run in the game for them.

The Mariners had only four hits and two
of them were doubles by Cal Raleigh
and Teoscar Hernandez.  Of course they
could have had more hits along with
runs wasn't for the Marlins defense.
Don't really know the Mariners would have
won or not but would have made it
exciting.

The Mariners have Thursday off and
then take on the Chicago White Sox
for three over the weekend. The Mariners
go on the road for three against the Yankees and three against the Baltimore
Orioles before returning home. The
Yankees series will be interesting since
Aaron Judge is out with a toe injury.

Against the White Sox Bryan Woo will start
on Friday night followed by Logan Gilbert.
Bryce Miller will start on Sunday.. Go M's.

Mariners Do It Again

The Mariners took game almost the
same way as the first game with good pitching and hitting.

The difference was the top four in the batting order didn't get a hit and the
bottom three each drove in three runs
each.

It started with Cal Raleigh hitting a three run homer in the second inning. Mike
Ford who had struggled since coming
up hit a two home run homer in the
fourth inning and ended the 8th with
a solo home run. Jose Caballero who
had struggled latley hit a triple in the
sixth inning with the bases loaded.

We don't really care but as long as a
few players contribute each time out
will be good for the Mariners. George
Kirby pitched well going six innings
giving up six hits, one run and career
high ten strike outs without a walk.
Looked like his old self. Chris Flexen
who has struggled gave up two runs
in the 8th inning. Be interesting to see
how much longer he sticks around.

The Miami Marlins was playing well
before Seattle. The Mariners have
Luis Castillo going Wednesday night.
See he can put on the sweep. The
Mariners will have Thursday off again
before facing the White Sox beginning
on Friday. They had been struggling
however done well of late. Hopefully
the Mariners will cool them done too.

The Mariners have struggled the last
two years and have gone on strong
from about this time. We hope this
happens again this season. Go M's

Mariners Offense and Pitching Come Together

The Mariners offense and pitching had
an awesome night against the Marlins
Monday night with an 8-1 win.

The game started off well with JP Crawford with a double. It didn't look like they would
take advantage however with two outs Hernandez hit a double followed by Suarez.
Ty France had the big hit of the game with
a three run homer. They added another run
to make it 6-0. Suarez and Tom Murphy had
solo home runs later on.

Bryce Miller had a come back after having
previous downers. Only gave up one hit
a homer. Had three walks but the Marlin's
couldn't take advantage.

Ty Adcock made his major league debut
with his family and friends going two
innings. Only one run reached base on
an error by Suarez. Adcock was promoted
from double A Arkansas taking the spot
of Penn Murfee who had to go back.on
the injured list with another injury. Adcock
is quite a story since he has been injured
most of the time since the Mariners drafted
him in 2019. Hopefully he will be a success
story the rest of his career.

George Kirby starts Tuesday night we hope he follows Miller's success and the offense
continues on. Go M's.

Mariners Come Home With Another Loss

The Mariners  road trip ended like it
started. Losing to the Angels 9-4.
Not a great road trip with the starting pitching floundering and the offense still
looking for themselves.

The Mariners better find themselves soon
or be out of it by the all-star break. So sad
since last year was a breakout and thought
this year would be more of the same.

We hope the pitching will find itself again.
The offense needs to find it or is it too late.
The bench has been horrible since day one.
Jose Caballero has been.the only bright
spot. Gives a bright spot at second base.
As far as the position players Jarred Kelenic has been the bright spot. Crawford
has done well at leadoff and Ty France
has  had his moments. Julio seems like
he may have a good second half of the season. The real hope for the Mariners
to succeed. They will need to pick up st one or two position players to get a good run.

It will be important the Mariners go at
least 4-2 in this homestand coming up.
Go M's

Mariners Take Game Two

The Mariners will see if they can take
game three against the Angels after
having a terrible road trip.

Saturday night the Mariners beat the
Angels 6-2. They looked more like
they are capable of. The Mariners
had a home run by Julio in the top
of the third with a runner on base
Added another run. Ohtani hit a
a two runner in the bottom of the
third. The Mariners added two more
in the fourth inning.

Bryan Woo went four and two-thirds
before leaving. Woo pitched much
better relying on his fastball. He did
well against Mike Trout. In all Woo
struck out seven while walking only
one and four hits. I figure he will continue
with his fastball pitch up and inside.

Bryce Miller was expected to start
Sunday however the Mariners decided
to go with Logan Gilbert on his daily
rest since they had two off days on the
road. Miller will start Monday at home
against Miami. Tues and Wednesdays
pitchers haven't been announced however
Kirby will be one of them. Go M's

Luis Castillo Two Mistakes Game

Friday night the Mariners had a chance
to win the series opener in Anaheim
against the Angels.

Jarred Kelenic hit a home run with
JP Crawford on base to take the lead
2-0 lead in the first inning. It was a good
sign however Luis Castillo gave up two
home runs costing the Mariners the
game 6-4. Actually both were with s
runner on base. Ohtani made up for
his first inning home run to Kelenic
by hitting the first two-run homer.

The Mariners offense and pitching didn't
take advantage of Ohtani's five walks.
He gave up only three hits in five innings.
Castillo went six innings striking out ten.
He gave up five runs however only three
were earned because of a fielding error
by JP Crawford. Ty France had two of the
Mariners four hits. Those two other hits
were Kelenic home run and another home
run by Mike Ford in the 9th inning. It
would be nice if Ford got hot as well as few other Mariners hitters.

After having a good homestand besides
the Yankees series this road trip has been
terrible. Mariners need to turn things around starting Saturday night. Bryan Woo
will make  his second start. Hopefully a lot
better than his major league opener last
Saturday. The answer is the pitching has
to get back to where it was and the offense
where it hasn't been for most of the season. Go M's

Football Friday

The Seattle  Seahawks  had minicamp
this week  ending  Thursday morning.
On local sports radio they said the best
in several  years.

Several attending  the minicamp they
thought cornerback  Michael  Jackson
had the best one. Drafting  Witherspoon
with the fifth overall in the first gave
Jackson the true reason to do so.

There is thought with a solid defensive
back group  could see switching between
safety  and  cornerback.  We could see
Witherspoon  playing safety  on occasion.

The acquiring and drafting of defensive
tackles  we could see more playing of
three tackles and two defensive  ends.

Trai ING camp for the  Seahawks  will start
in about a month and the Huskies and
Cougars  won't  be  far behind.

Mariners Blown Out Again

The Seattle Mariners had a good game
Tuesday night with Logan Gilbert pitching
well against the Padres in San Diego
going Seven innings in a 4-1 win.

The trouble was Wednesday afternoon
the Padres looked like the Yankees and
Rangers beating the Mariners 10-3. I
thought and many Mariners fans to
with George Kirby on the mound they
could sweep the Padres in the two game
series but it wasn't meant to be.

Kirby lasted only three and two-thirds
innings giving up five runs on eleven
hits. The Mariners may have had a
chance however the bullpen didn't
do well either. Matt Brash who has
some outstanding stats at the same
time has struggled got two outs but
surrendered two runs on one hit and
walk. You wonder when the Mariners
will do something about him despite
having a pretty good slider.

The Mariners have another day off
on Thursday before facing the Angels
in Anaheim. It would be nice if they
could turn things around like they did
last year in Anaheim. We will see.

After last season finally making
it to the playoffs in so long it would
have been nice to have several players
participate in the all-star game in
Seattle. Julio looked like a good lock
but he hasn't played like an all-star
though doing better recently. Jarred
Kelenic looks like the best choice
instead. Until recently the starting
rotation look like someone emerge
from there but no one really looks
to be an all-star either. Paul Sewald
looks like the best choice to be an
all-star besides Kelenic. Ty France
looked another all-star selection
but he has been inconsistent. Oh
well dreams don't  always happen.
Important thing is to turn around
the season. Adding another bat
would be nice. Go M's.

Mariner Swept By Rangers

Bryce Miller had his second bad outing
Sunday afternoon in a row. The Mariners
lost 12-3. Bryce only lasted two and one their innings giving up two in the first and five in the third. The best two teams who can hit and against fastballers certainly did
the job. The Mariners play two against the Padres with Monday being an off day which
is good for the Mariners. They have Thursday off before playing the Angels in
Anaheim. Most likely Miller will start next
Sunday against the Angels depending on
the rotation. Oh by the way Marco Gonzales
went on the injured list.

Ty France and Teoscar Hernandez each
had two hits. Julio was hitless for the
first time in a while hopefully he will go
on another hit spree. JP Crawford didn't
play do Kelenic led off followed by Julio
then Ty France.

Logan Gilbert and George Kirby start
against the Padres so gives the Mariners
a good chance however the offense does
need to come alive. Don't know who
starts yet against the Angels but we do know Luis Castillo will be one and Miller
to most likely. The question will Woo start
again. Go M's.

Rough First Game For Woo

Bryan Woo didn't have  a good first
major league start going only two innings
innings and giving up six runs on seven
hits, walking one though struck out four.
Hopefully he learned his lesson.

The bullpen didn't do much better though
Matt Festa in his first return to the Mariners
didn't give up a hit in his one inning in place
of Woo the rest of the bullpen have up ten
runs. Even Mike Ford who returned to
the Mariners pitched an inning giving up
a run on two hits in the bottom of the 8th
in a 16-6 loss.

The Mariners would have won Friday's
game had the offense did the same. The
Mariners scored a run in the first and two
more in the fourth. The three remaining
were in the ninth when the game was
over.  The France who struggled recently
led the team with three hits, Teoscar
Hernandez had two hits. So did Jose
Caballero. Julio and Kelenic each had
one. In all the Mariners had eleven hits.
Hopefully they can find a way to win
game three in.Texas before heading to
San Diego for two beginning on.Tuesday.

Bryce Miller will go Sunday. We hope
he responds like George Kirby in his
last outing. The Rangers having an
explosive offense it won't be easy.
Go M's.

Mariners Blanked On Road Opener

Luis Castillo pitched very well for the
third straight game however it wasn't
enough. Luis gave up a run in the 6th
inning . He was able to go seven innings
giving up five hits, walk one and striking
out six. Matt Brash gave up a run in the
8th however it was unearned.

The trouble was the Mariners were unable
to get hits off Rangers starter Jon Gray
who is having a good season himself.
Gray went seven innings as well giving up
two hits. The Mariners only able to get
one hit off the Rangers bullpen.

The Rangers don't have a good bullpen
except those who come end at the end
like their closer Will Smith. For success
in remaining two games of the series
the Mariners will need to score early.

Julio Rodriguez continues hitting well
having one of the hits along with Teoscar
Hernandez who actually tried to stretch a
single into a double. The third hit was
by newcomer Mike Ford who was recalled
from Tacoma while Taylor Trammell was
sent down. Ford will be the primary dh
against righties while he is here. Hopefully
he can continue what he did in Tacoma.
He will be Ty France backup at first base
too.

The Mariners have a day game against
the Rangers on Saturday as well as Sunday.
Marco Gonzales was supposed to start
however arm trouble is keeping out.
So the Mariners have recalled another
top prospect Bryan Woo from double A
Arkansas. If he does well like the other
Mariners prospect we could see Marco
going to the bullpen when he returns.

The Mariners  future rotation looks pretty
good I say and this doesn't include another
prospect in Emerson Hancock. At some point the Mariners may need to make a
trade possibly Hancock to get another
good bat into the lineup. Go M's.

Mariners Shut Out Yankees In Extra Innings

George Kirby rebounded going eight
innings without giving up a run. The
Mariners  didn’t  score either so too
bad he doesn't  get the win.

Kirby  only gave up three hits. Paul
Sewald pitched  the 9th and Justin
Topa the 10th. Sewald walked Aaron
Judge. Topa had the win.

Jose Caballero pich running  running
for Eugenio Suarez  scored the winning
run in the 10th when Cal Raleigh hit a
single to right field. Though the Mariners
lost two out of three to the Yankees it was
a successful homestand going 7-3. Now
they head to  Texas against the Rangers
beginning  on Friday.

The Seattle Kraken  announced they signed
general manager  Ron Francis  to a new
three-year deal. Not a surprise with success
this year. Next up would be extension for
Head Coach  David Haskol. We hope for
another successful season for the Kraken.
