George Kirby First Win

George Kirby went six innings
without giving up a run in the
Mariners shutout of the Orioles
10-0. He surrendered four hits
while walking one and eight
strike outs. Kirby got off to a
tough start throwing over twenty
pitches in the first inning. This was
after Julio Rodriguez hit a double
scoring Ty France. In any park
besides Camden would have been
a home run.

The Mariners scored three runs in
the second inning followed by four
more in the third putting the game
pretty well out of reach.

The Mariners bottom of the batting
order did most of the damage. Taylor
Trammell had three hits and four RBIs.
Cal Raleigh had three RBIs with one hit.
Both Raleigh and Trammel had sacrifice fly's for one of their RBIs.
Mariners get production out of those
two on a regular basis will certainly
help the Mariners a long ways.

This game was the highest scoring
this season without a home run.
In the eighth inning Julio Rodriguez
called out on a third strike was
kicked out of the game for taking
his bat and making a mark next
to home plate showing where the
ball was at. On the Mariners TV
broadcast Mike Blowers said a
veteran player would be kicked
out for doing such a thing though
Julio only 21 years old.

The Mariners brought in catcher
Luis Torrens to play  second base
with Julio being thrown out. Sam
Haggerty pitch hitting for JP
Crawford went to left and Dylan
Moore who started in left went to
shortstop. Adam Frazier moved
to right field and Taylor Trammel
from right to center.

The Mariners will start Robbie Ray
Wednesday night in the middle
game of the series. We hope Ray
will not have a melt down in one
inning. If not the Mariners have a
good chance of winning.

The Mariners now have a record
of 21-28. They are three and half
games behind Texas Rangers
who have done well having a
record of 24-24. They have gone
12-12 both at home and on the
road. The Mariners take on the
Rangers in Texas Friday thru
Sunday before heading to Houston
next week. If the Mariners can
take two out of three in each of.
these two series at the very least
will help them going to Houston.
The Mariners will have three games
in Houston with a day off next
Thursday heading home to play
the Boston Red Sox.

Kyle Lewis missed Sunday's and
Tuesday's game being under
concussion prodical. He was hit
in the head in Saturday's game.
If Lewis isn't feeling better tomorrow
and doesn't play he will go on the
concussion injured list which is
seven games. It will be retroactive
to Sunday. Lewis who was called up
after being out for a year is having
tough time now with the concussion.
His leg isn't at full strength as he
runs the bases at slower speed.
The Mariners can use his bat but
wants him to be careful. Who
will take his spot don't know at
this time. Likely on the way to
Baltimore in case Lewis goes
on the injured list. Go M's.

Look at Seahawks

It is about two months from
training camp for the Seahawks.
Are they going to make anymore
moves especially at quarterback.

For a team to make the playoffs
especially the Super Bowl for
most teams you have to have a
franchise quarterback. I am sure
most agree trading Russell Wilson
the Seahawks don't have one.

I am sure most agree that Drew
Lock, Geno Smith or Jacob Eason
are the answer without better
players around them. Not only
on offense but on defense to.

The Seahawks improved the
offensive line through the NFL
draft picking a left tackle in
the first round and a right tackle
in the third round. They drafted
a running back in the second
round to add depth. Not sure
Chris Carson will be back.

The defense will be changing to
4-3 going with four linebackers
and three on the defensive line.
The Seahawks drafted a cornerback
as well. Injuries at safety we will
have to see how things go.

Update you if the Seahawks bring
in a significant player before camp.
The Rams, Cardinals and 49ers
will likely make it a hard season on
the Seahawks. See what happens.
Hopefully be better than we think.
Go Hawks!

A Look At Mariners Top Ten Prospects

We now look at the Mariners top
ten prospects. Two have been on
the Mariners this year with one
currently on the team. Oh by the
way Julio Rodriguez is not the
list. No.longer considered a
prospect.

#1 Noelvi Marte 20 years old short
stop from Rodriguez country to the
Dominican Republic. He is currently
playing in Everett the Mariners high
A team. Expect to be on the Mariners
something in 2023. With JP Crawford
at short would not be surprised to
moved to third base. This could depend how Eugenio Suarez works
out. Noelvi could play some outfield besides infield. He currently hitting
.247 with four home runs and five
stolen bases. See how he does during
June see how he moves up. I am
sure the Mariners hope Noelvi will
start next season at double A Arkansas.

#2 George Kirby is on the Mariners
roster as the number five starter.
He began the season at Arkansas.
Kirby has made four starts for the
Mariners in the month of May. His
first two starts especially showed
what he is capable of. Right now
has an era of 4.50 over 20 innings.
Kirby has walked only two batters
while striking out 20.Quite a ratio
for sure. He starts on Tuesday
in Baltimore against the Orioles.
See how he does in this one.

#3 Harry Ford the Mariners #1
draft pick last year is a catcher but
could end up at another position.
This might depend on need to.
Ford is only 19 years old. At low
level A Modesto hitting .217 with
two home runs. Stats are not impressive at this point but can't
look at it this way. He is expected
to make his appearance with the
Mariners in 2025. So likely be at
Everett next year and Arkansas in
2024. We will where he is at in a
month or so.

#4 Matt Brash started the season
as the Mariners fifth starter however
with control issues the Mariners
sent him down to Tacoma where he
is working out of the bullpen. Whether
stays there depends on him and the
Mariners situation. Matt has pitched
in seven games going with an era of
5.73. Still has control issues walking
nine though has 20 strike outs. See
how he does in the next month. His
future could be out of the bullpen
depending on the Mariners rotation.

#5 Emerson Hancock Mariners number
One draft pick in 2020 made his first
start on May 17 for Arkansas. In three
starts for eight innings Emerson has
an era of 2.25. His last outing on May
29 he went four innings giving up just
one hit. If Emerson stays healthy he
could be in the Mariners rotation. Having three young pitchers Logan
Gilbert, George Kirby and Hancock
in the rotation maybe a reason Brash
might be in the bullpen. The future
of Chris Flexen in the Mariners rotation
would be in question too.

#6 Levi Stoudt another right handed
starting pitcher drafted in the third
round by the Mariners in 2019 might
be in the team's rotation next year
as well. Too think the Mariners have
four pitchers in their top six prospects
is amazing. Stoudt has nine starts
under his buckle at Arkansas with an
era of 3.83. He has pitched 47 innings
with ten walks and 48 strike outs
shows he has a pretty good walks to
strike out ratio too. Quite the deal for
the Mariners and have to see what
they come up in this year's draft. The major league draft used to be 40
rounds before covid but this year
will be 20 which maybe the normal
now on.

#7 Outfielder Alberto Rodriguez who
is expected to make his debut in
2024. Alberto was acquired by the
Mariners in the trading deadline
from Toronto Blue Jays in 2020
in the Taijuan Walker trade. Alberto
is playing this year at Everett. He is
currently batting .244 with three
home runs. Alberto has ten doubles
so likely not a big home run hitter
unless he develops that way. He
is only 21 years old. Wouldn't be
nice to have two Rodriguez in the
Mariners outfield.

#8 Edwin Arroyo another shortstop.
Arroyo is only 18 years old out of
Puerto Rico. The Mariners had another
player from there who played a  lot
of years in Seattle by the name of
Edgar Martinez. Arroyo was drafted
last year in the second round. He
has started out well this year at Modesto hitting .295 with nine home
runs and 37 RBIs. I would say having
a good start. He will follow Marte
along. Most likely be in Everett next
season unless moved up sooner.
Whether Arroyo stays at shortstop
 will be interesting too.

#9 Gabriel Gonzalez another 18 year
old out of Venezuela is playing outfield
in the Dominican Summer League. Currently Gabriel is hitting .287 in
54 games with seven home runs. He
likely begin next season at Modesto.

#10 Adam Macko a left handed starting pitcher drafted in the 7th
round in 2019. Macko is pitching
this year at Everett. He has a 0-2
record with an era of 3.99. Macko
has twenty walks in 38 1/3 innings,
however, has 60 walks. Another
strike out pitcher for the Mariners.

Looking at this crop of prospects
it is no wonder the Mariners are
ranked as the number one or two
farm system in baseball. I will let
you know these guys continue
along with others in the top 30.
Of course not all these players
will play for the Mariners. They
may become involved in trades
to make the Mariners better.
Depending on how the Mariners
do in the weeks to come could
be sooner than later.

I believe the Mariners are a better
ball club than last year though
they will have to get going to prove
it. They certainly have flaws like
in the bullpen where we thought
be their strength along with their
bench.

Tomorrow we will look at their
bench and what they should
do there. Go.M's

Marco Loses Despite Pitching Well

Sunday afternoon the Mariners
lost to Astros in final game of
series despite Marco Gonzales
having another outstanding
pitching out.

Marco gave up two runs on the
day. Giving up the second run
in the eight inning. He went seven
and one thirds innings. Paul Sewald
game in to finish off the eighth
inning.

Marco had a good month of May
going 36 and 2/3 innings in six
appearances. He gave up only
14 runs in those innings. Unfort-
unately Marco had a record of
2-3 in May. I expect he does about
the same in June he will be much
better.

Mike Ford dh instead of Kyle Lewis.
The Mariners gave Lewis the day
off. Late in the game in two appearances Ford struck out once
and walked once to load the bases
in the 9th. Luis Torrens catching
and following Ford drove in the lone
run in the sixth inning but ended the
game hitting into a double play. I
have to be honest I wondered why
Ford was not pinch hit in eiter the
two appearances. The Mariners may
have won the game otherwise. I can
think Lewis was not able to hit and
the other players on the pinch were
not any better than Ford.

Mariners have Monday off with George Kirby starting Tuesday in Baltimore. He will be followed by Robbie Ray and Chris Flexen to finish the series.

We will see what the Mariners may do on their day off as far as any moves.
The team left Seattle after Sunday's
game for Baltimore. Go M's.

Logan Gilbert Takes To Astros

Logan Gilbert who had a good
start in April may have had his
best start of the season on
Saturday night shutting out
the Houston Astros 6-0.

Logan ended up going seven
innings giving up four hits.
Like usual he didn't walk anyone
and struck out five along the way.

What Logan is doing is learning
to use his secondary pitches as
well. When he figures everything
out he will be among the top
pitchers in the major leagues if
he isn't already.

Kyle Lewis had another home run
for the second game in a row. He
should move up in the order soon
after batting seventh right now.

Julio Rodriguez had another good
night having three hits. He scored
a run after getting on fielder's
choice. Also, had another stolen
base. He know is hitting .276. The
pitchers will have to figure him
out since he has figured them out.
With his power he should get at
least a double every couple games.
His power is allowing him to hit
singles through the infield.

Raleigh had a double in the game.
Mariners be more dangerous if
Cal figures things out to. Also
Eugenio Suarez had two hits so
maybe he will go on a good streak .

Marco Gonzales starts Sunday
afternoon so hopefully the Mariners
can sweep the Astros. It certainly
be good. The Mariners will have
Memorial day off before facing
the Orioles in Baltimore. See any
more changes before heading
east. Go M's.

Mariners beat Verlander

Friday night the Mariners  beat the
Houston Astros  in opening game
of the series 6-1.

Justin Verlander didn't  pitch well
giving up  four home runs giving
the Mariners  all six runs. Verlander
did not look like his usual  self so
the Mariners  took advantage  of it.

The Mariners  got to Verlander right
away with Julio Rodriguez  hitting a
two  run homer in the first  inning
followed by Kyle Lewis with one too.
It was Kyle's first of the season.

Chris Flexen  pitched his best game
of the season as well giving up the
one run  in  the second inning.  Flexen
was able to  go seven innings. Andre
Munoz  and Matt Festa  each went
an inning. The game ended with an
applause when Jose Ultuive flied
out to  Julio Rodriguez. Ultuive was
booed each time at the plate.

The Mariners  will play the Astros on
their next road trip. They begin road
trip in Baltimore on Tuesday for three
games followed by the Texas Rangers
and the Astros.

Hopefully  the Mariners will  go  on a
good long winning streak. Go M's.

The position players for Mariners.

We will look at the position players
currently on the roster in their last
fifteen games.

Cal Raleigh hit off to a rough start.
Was sent down at the end of April.
Came back up on May 7 when Tom
Murphy went on injured list. Hasn't
hit well since returning at .167 with three home runs in 13 games. Has
played good defense though.

Luis Torrens expected to be the
best hitter of the catchers hasn't
gotten off to a good start batting
.190 in his last fifteen games. Has
no home runs on the season yet
For the Mariners do better Raleigh
and Torrens will have to hit better.

Ty France has played every game
at first base and the Mariners best
hitter. Over the last 15 games he
is hitting .373.Reminds me of Edgar
Martinez being able to hit all over
the field.

Mike Ford reacquired by the Mariners
on May 12 hasn't hit well in 11 games
with Mariners with average of .182.
With Ty France on first and Kyle Lewis
back at dh Ford won't get much playing
time. As long as he is on the team
most likely will pinch hit.

Adam Frazier has played second base
for the most part. With Abraham Toro
on the injured list still likely continue
at second though can play the outfield.
He has been the Mariners third best
hitter behind Ty France and JP Crawford. In his last 15 games Adam
has hit .274.Doesn't hit with much power. He has been in.the leadoff
spot most if the season though
against Jesse Winker was at leadoff.

JP Crawford has struggled at the
plate in his last 15 games batting
only .211. On the season he is
hitting .296. The Mariners need
Crawford to hit more like .296 or
at least .275. He started the season
batting ninth but raised to sixth in
the order though has hit third on
occasion.

Third base has been Eugenio Suarez
for the most part. Abraham Toro
played there on occasion while Suarez
was doing. Now with Kyle Lewis back
and Toro on injured list third base is
Suarez. He is hitting .246 in his last
15 games with three of his team leading nine home runs.

Toro who played at second, third
and dh got off to a tough start.
He was hitting .318 in his last seven
games before the injured list raising
average to .179.  Had six home runs
on the season mostly late in games.

Sam Haggerty was brought up when
Toro went on injured list. He will
play mostly as a late inning replacement has been in two.games.

Dylan Moore listed as an infielder
mostly has played in right field
since Mitch Haniger went on.the
injured list. Dylan primarily starts
against lefties. Jarred Kelenic was
against righties. Now Kelenic is
in Tacoma Taylor Trammel was called
up. Trammel only been in three games
without a hit. Moore is batting only .125 in his last fifteen games. Most like we will see Justin Upton in right field
when called up until Mitch Haniger
returns since haven't had much
production there. At that point won't
see a lot of Moore.

In left field will mostly be Jesse Winker. He got off to a slow start
though hitting .246 in his last fifteen
games. Has raised his average to
.216 on the season. Winker has only
two home runs. For the Mariners to
get on their winning ways Winker
has to do better.

Julio Rodriguez the Mariners outstanding center fielder got off
to rough start. Had a .205 batting average at the end of April. In the
last 15 games Julio is batting .288
with four of his five home runs.
Julio looks like the real thing. See
how he does against Justin Verlander
Friday night.

Start winning games more position
players have to produce more along
with the bullpen.

News came lefthander Roenis Elias
is taking Drew Steckenrider spot in
the bullpen. Interesting he took
Steckenrider's spot when the team
was in Toronto. Hope he does well
out of the bullpen. Go M's.

Look at the Current Mariners Rosters

The Mariners are 2-8 in their last
ten games but we look at the last
seven games for players currently
on the team heading into the Houston Astros series at home. We start at
the pitchers in alphabetic order.

Diego Castillo done well in his last two outings but before not so good with an era of 18.00. Tells a lot about bullpen.

Matt Festa missed time in May being
on the injured list. Has been in four games this month. Has  a 4.50 era in May though no runs given up in the
last two games.

Chris Flexen off to a tough start. Has
a 1-5 with an era of 4.85. Most of his starts he hasn't had much run support.

Logan Gilbert was pitcher of the month
in April. In his last seven games he is
3-2 with a respectable era of 3.00.

Marco Gonzales is 2-3 in last seven
starts with an era of 3.93. His best
game against the Mets giving up
one run in six innings. Last outing
gave up five runs against Oakland.

George Kirby has an era of 4.50
in his for starts since coming up.
His future looks bright.

Anthony Misewicz has  struggled his last seven outings coming out of
the bullpen. Has an era of 7.94 in
these seven games. He hasn't done
well since early last. His position as
the lefty specialist the Mariners
should find a replacement.

Andre Munoz has struggled as of late.
His biggest trouble was in the final
game in Boston when he gave up a
grand slam in the 10th inning making
the Red Sox sweeping the series.
Munoz likely the Mariners closer in
the future.

Penn Murfee came up in late April.
Has been a bright spot in the bullpen.
In his last seven outings has an era
of 3.18 however in his 13 games
in total has an era of 1.26.

Robbie Ray is having one bad inning
in each of his starts. Needs to keep
his mind in the game. Has 2-4 record
in last seven starts with an overall
record of 4-5. Right now not Cy Young
material.

Sergio Romo a veteran with World Series rings has been in six games
since coming of the injured list.
Has given up only one run. Mariners
need another reliever like him.

Paul Sewald for the most part having
a good season. The only one of the
top four relievers who hasn't struggled
for the most part. In his last seven
games has an era of 1.35. Has only walked one while striking out six.

Drew Steckenrider who had a good season for the Mariners hss struggled
this season shows has been sent
to the minors though not official.
Not sure who is taking his spot in
the bullpen. In his last seven outings
Steckenrider has an era of 9.53.
Tells it all. Hopefully he can turn
things around.

Anyway there are the pitchers. See
how they do in their next seven outings. For the starters that will
lead up to the all-star break.

Look at the position players in the next blog. Go.M's.

Mariners Being To Familiar

The losses by the Mariners are
becoming real familiar. This is
like a lot of the teams of the past.
They lose one game because of
pitching and another lack of offense.

The one Wednesday afternoon was
combination of both. Robbie Ray
gave up two runs in the sixth inning
despite striking out ten batters. He gave up a two run home while earlier
giving up a slolo shot.

The Mariners had opportunities but couldn't cash in. Also Paul Sewald
gave up a run in the 9th making it
harder for the Mariners offense.

Losing the middle game of the series
would have been OK if the Mariners
took care of this one. Score A's 4 M's 2.
The Mariners now are 2-8 in their
last ten games. Overall they are 18-27.
Now last place, half game behind A's.
Have better talent they show.

The Mariners have Thursday off.
See if they make any moves before
Friday's game against the Houston
Astros at home. At least they have
done better against them at home
than the road. They do face Justin
Verlander on Friday.

Next time we will look how the pitchers
and hitters have done in their last seven games. Go M's.

Kyle Lewis Returns Mariners Lose

The Kyle Lewis making his first
appearance of the season wasn't
the reason the Mariners lost.

Kyle Lewis had two hits in the game.
It was easy to see his limitation in
running the bases. For the time
being Kyle will be at dh. Hard to know
whether he will play the outfield or
not this season.

The Mariners had enough offense
scoring five runs however the pitching
gave up seven runs to the worst hitting
team in the league. No excuses in
my book.

George Kirby went five innings giving up four runs. Kirby struck out nine batters while not walking a batter.
He gave up a two run homer in the
5th, however the Mariners scored
three in the bottom of the inning.
At that point Kirby left being able
to be the winner.

Drew Steckenrider who has been
struggling as of late came in the
sixth inning. He gave up a home
run for the A's to tie it.

The Mariners brought in Anthony Misewicz with two outs to face
a left handed hitter which he did
record an out. I don't understand
why but he came back out in the
7th inning where he gave up two
runs. The rule is a pitcher coming
in an inning whether starting that
inning or not has to face three
batters. It does not mean you have
to come back out the next inning
if you haven't faced three batters.
So not sure what manager Scott
Servais was thinking. Like Steckenrider
Misewicz has been struggling lately
as well so why bring him back out
especially when the first batter of the
7th inning was a right handed hitter.

The activation of Kyle Lewis meant the
Mariners had to make a move. The
Mariners optioned left handed pitcher
Danny Young to Tacoma. Now this
means the Mariners have eight relievers. As I have said before the
Mariners need to add another quality
reliever in the bullpen. Ken Giles is
starting to throw in the bullpen but
not sure when he will be available
to be activated. Eriq Swanson's
return isn't known at this time
either. The bullpen which was
to be the team's strength again
has been faultering the last few
weeks. Bullpen never know one
season to the next. So let's see
what the Mariners can do in that
regard. Go M's.

Mariners Win Monday Night

Monday night's game against the
Oakland A's reminded me of the
series against  the Red Sox. Thank-
fully the results were different.

Julio Rodriguez hit a three-run
homer in the third inning putting
the Mariners up 3-0 however the
A's did the same scoring three
runs in the 4th. Bottom of the
4th Cal Raleigh hit a two-run
homer followed by Eugenio Suarez
in the fifth. The sixth inning the A's
made it interesting scoring three
runs. Fortunately they didn't score
again since the Mariners didn't
either.
Seattle 7 Oakland 6 final

News came out Monday that Kyle
Lewis will be activated on Tuesday.
He actually was on the Mariners
bench during Monday's game. His
flight didn't make it before the game.
For now Lewis will dh. At some point
we hope he will play in the outfield.
I expect the Mariners will send down
first baseman-dh Mike Ford.

George Kirby will start Tuesday night
for the Mariners. We hope for a rebound for Kirby in this one. Go M's.

Mariners Return Home

The Seattle  Mariners  return home
now after having  a  rough road trip.
Actually  the trouble happened in
Boston.  They  were 3-3 before
facing the Red Sox, however, were
swept in Boston.
The Mariners  had there opportunities
but their pitching especially  the  bullpen
was their downfall.

Sunday was another example. They went
into extra innings at 3-3. The Mariners
scored a run in top  of the  10th.  The
Red Sox tied at 4-4 before  hitting a grand
slam  home run making final 8-4 off of
Andre Munoz.

The Mariners  come home to face the
Oakland A's.  The Mariners recalled
Sam Haggerty from Tacoma in place of
Abraham Toro who went on the injured
list. Also, brought up outfielder Taylor
Trammell from Tacoma  and designated
Steven Sousa Jr  for assignment.  Trammell
likely play right field against righties and
Dylan  Moore  against lefties.  Not sure
how much Haggerty will play. He could see
some action at second base or in the outfield.

Now have to  see whether the bullpen can
recover from  the road  trip. Marco Gonzales
will start Monday night against Oakland. Go M's.

Hot Start For Naught

For the second time in the series
in Boston the Mariners got off to
a hot start but still lost.

Boston 6 Seattle 5

Can use the excuse the Red Sox are
hot or bad pitching by the Mariners.
The Mariners scored four runs in
the first inning. This was the first
time they were able to give Chris
Flexen run support in an outing.
Unfortunately Flexen couldn't pitch.
Flexen only lasted four innings.
Actually pitched in the 5th inning
where the Red Sox scored four
runs to tie 5-5.

Trevor Story wasn't the guy this
time though he did drive in a run
with a sacrifice fly.Red Sox third
baseman Rafael Devers had two
home runs off of Flexen driving
in three runs.

The bullpen actually did a fine job
until Drew Steckenrider came in
and surrendered the last run in
the 8th. Paul Sewald had to come
in to get the last out. Too bad he
didn't enter the batter before.

Now the Mariners have to put
things in order to win Sunday's
game. Logan Gilbert will start
the game. This will end the road
trip as the Mariners come home
to face the Oakland A's for 3.

News came out after the game
the Mariners signed former Angel
outfielder Justin Upton to a one
year contract. He is being sent
to extended spring training. We
hope Upton has something left
in the tank. Until Mitch Haniger
returns the Mariners do need help
in the outfield.

Abraham Toro had to leave Saturday's
game after colliding with Adam Frazier.
Toro was playing second while Frazier.
The next inning Frazier went to second
and Dylan Moore came in to play right.
Hopefully Toro will be fine.

Catcher Tom.Murphy is going to be
out much longer. It looks to me the
Mariners need to find another catcher.
Neither Cal Raleigh or Luis Torrens are
hitting well. Having Raleigh catching
against right handers is how the Mariners should go. Torrens is catching against lefties. How long
that last in my opinion is how many
lefties will the Mariners face. I would
like to see Raleigh behind the plate
more often. Torrens caught Saturday
so Raleigh will catch Sunday.

The Cincinnati Reds, the Chicago Cubs
and the Washington Nationals all having poor seasons. Check to see
whether their starting catchers are
available. Raleigh is going a fine job
behind the plate but not hitting well.
Will Raleigh turn things around hitting
or no? Time will tell. The Mariners
don't have anyone else ready in the
farm system. Go.M's.

Make Trade or more for Mariners

Friday night the Seattle Mariners
gave up another home run to Trevor
Story in the third inning. This the
grand slam variety off of Robbie
Ray. This makes four for Story in
this series with the Mariners with
two games to go. Though the bases
were loaded Ray should have pitched
Story a bit more careful even if he walked in a batter. Ray continues
having one bad inning in each game.
Hopefully he can turn things around.

The  Mariners looked like they could
do the reversal to the Red Sox from
Thursday night.  In the 5th inning
Abraham Toro hit a two run homer

making it 4-2. In the 8th Jesse Winker
drove in JP Crawford to make it 4-3.
It looked like the Mariners had a chance for the 9th inning. In the
bottom of the 8th inning with two
outs and two runners on base the
Red Sox had Jackie Bradley come
in to pinch hit. Being a lefty the
Mariners brought in lefty pitcher
Anthony Misewicz to Bradley. Unfortunately Bradley hit a home run
to basically seal the win 8-3.

So for the second game in the series
the Mariners had opportunity to win
before the bullpen falter. Penn Murfee
came first to relieve Ray in the 7th
inning. He got the Red Sox one, two
and three before the three runs given
up in 8th. Murfee  was drafted by the
Mariners in the 33rd round in 2018.
He started this season in Tacoma
where he pitched in five games before
being called up. Murfee has pitched
in 10 games for the Mariners giving
up just one run.

Sounds to me the Mariners need to
find another Murfee in the organization
or outside of it. Remember the Mariners were able to sign Paul Sewald their top reliever and Drew Steckenrider. Neither had much success before coming to Seattle.
General manager Jerry Dipoto needs
to go out and find another pitcher
who could add to the top four relievers.
Matt Festa was reactivated before
Friday's game. Right now Festa and
Murfee seem to be the guys to come
in the sixth or seventh inning. I would
like the Mariners add another pitcher
to come in the seventh or eighth
inning. The Mariners do have one
or two spots to fill in the bullpen.
Erik Swanson who is on the injured
list is expected to return in a week so can take one spot. A veteran reliever
would be nice to pick up. Wyatt Mills
was sent back down to Tacoma after
throwing eight straight balls. He actually wasn't doing a bad job before
than so if he can get his control back
then he might be back to.

One last thing would be the 5th starter.
Stay with George Kirby or find another.
Update on Matt Brash he has pitched
in four games all in relief going eight
innings. He has struck out 15 batters
but has walked six. Brash can control
and lower the walks he could be back
in rotation or the bullpen. I still prefer
the Mariners to go out and find another
reliever.

Monday is when outfielder Kyle Lewis
rehab assignment at Tacoma is over.
Jerry Dipoto will have to decide is it
time to bring Lewis up or keep him
at Tacoma. I am sure most of us
want to see Lewis up. Go M's.

Pitching end Additional For Mariners

The Seattle  Mariners  had a good offense
display in the second inning of Thursday  night
game when they scored four runs including
a three run  homer  by Dylan  Moore.

It was down hill  from there. George  Kirby
gave up two runs in the second and third
inning. Two  more runs in the sixth, seventh
and eighth  to  put the game  away.

Trevor Story  who the Mariners tried to sign
during  the  off-season  had three home runs.
What a way  to make a statement.

Now to the pitching. It doesn't  look like  George
Kirby is ready for the big time yet. Wonder if the
Mariners  make a move.

Interesting  thing happened  that I  have never
seen before George Kirby came out to start the
sixth inning however,  manager Scott Servais
came to  take him out before facing a batter.
It turns out the pit her has to  face at least one
batter being on the mound. Kirby ended up giving
up a double. Sergio Romo came in but didn't have
a good inning.

The Mariners  still had a chance being down two
runs but in the seventh inning brought  in their
secondary pitchers. My opinion  they should have
brought  in one of their top four relievers.

This isn't  the  first time  it has happened  this
season. What the Mariners need to do is go
and pick up another reliever matching the top
four.  Oh yes the final score Boston 12 Seattle 6.

Oh by the way Julio Rodriguez had three hits
including a home run in the 9th inning.  He is
now  batting .270.

I hope the offense by the Red Sox will go down
the rest of the series so Mariners have a chance
to win.

Mariners Win Final Against Blue Jays

The Seattle Mariners struggled in
the first two games against Blue Jays after beating Mets in first series on
the road. The offense came along
in the second half of the game with
good pitching.

Marco Gonzales had another great
outing going six innings giving up
five hits and one run. The run came
in third inning. Mariners had three home runs. Cal Raleigh had solo
home run in the the 5th inning to take the lead. Ty France had a two- run
homer in 7th. For good measure
Abraham Toro had a solo shot in the
9th. Toro likes to hit home runs in
the 9th. He has had three recently.

Now the Mariners go to Boston. They
have a four game series. Winning two
out of the four be good. George Kirby
starts the opener on Thursday follow
by Robbie Ray on Friday.

Gilbert Pitches Well M's Lose

Logan Gilbert pitched well
going seven innings. The
Mariners lost 3-0.  Toronto
scored their three runs in the
second inning when Steven
Sousa dove for a ball in right
field that got past him with
two outs. The bases were
loaded and all three scored.
Had he been able to keep
the ball in front of himself
only two runs or possibly  one.
All three runs were charged to
Gilbert as earned since no error
was placed on Sousa. Not fair
in.my opinion.

The Mariners had opportunities
to score a couple of times, however
no hits with runners in scoring
position. Julio Rodriguez had two
of the Mariners six hits. He stole
a base once and caught the second
time.

Marco Gonzales goes Wednesday
to see the team can scrap out one
game in the series before going to
Boston. If Marco can pitch like his
last outing in New York. Go M's.

Loss of Opportunities

The Seattle Mariners lost opening
game of series in Toronto 6-2.

Chris Flexen pitched well going five and one- third innings. The trouble
is he hasn't had much run support.

Former Mariner Yusei Kikuchi gave up one hit in six innings along with three
walks and six strike outs. Looked like
the pitcher the Mariners had in the first  half of last year making the
all-star team though he didn't pitch.

The Mariners had the opportunity
to score against the Blue Jay bullpen
but  left runners on base. The only
offense in the seventh when Eugenio Suarez hit his 200th home run of his
career. He hit it deep and no question
a home run. The Mariners were able
to.load the bases in the seventh as
well but couldn't get that important
hit. Suarez scored the second run
in the 9th as well. They left runners
that inning to.

Logan Gilbert goes on Tuesday. We
hope that he rebounds after a couple
OK starts. Let's see the pitcher who
won AL pitcher for the month of April.
Hopefully the offense will come alive
as well. Go M's.

Mariners Take Series In New York

The Mariners pitching didn't make
it easy but they did make a way
to beat the Mets Sunday afternoon
8-7.

Robbie Ray again had  one bad inning
where he gave up four of his five runs.
He gave up the runs in the fourth inning after the Mariners scored three
in the top of the inning. Ray gets over
the hurdle of one inning than the
Mariners will be in good shape.

The Mariners had a 8-5 lead heading
into the 9th. It look like good shape
for a win, however, Drew Steckenrider struggled on the mound giving up
four hits along with the two runs.

The Mariners went to Diego Castillo
who struggled in his last two outings.
He entered the game with Mets on
second and third. Not a good sign
for sure. The Mariners did put a
runner on first intentionally. Castillo
was able to strike out two to end
the game. He had a 3-2 count and
the pitch was low and outside but
the hitter fished for it and went to
far to end the game. Let you know
Paul Sewald pitched the eighth
inning so not available to come
in for Steckenrider.

Julio Rodriguez had his best day as
a Mariner going 4 for 4 including
a double and a home run his second
of the season in the sixth inning.
Julio drove in two runs. Also, in
the sixth Cal Raleigh hit his second
home run of the season to. Raleigh
had two RBIs on it. We should expect
more of Raleigh behind the plate
with Torrens on occasion at least
until Tom.Murphy returns which not
sure when.

Mike Ford had his first hit for the
Mariners driving in two runs. The
Mariners had two hits from several
guys including Jesse Winkler who
had a good series in New York.

Chris Flexen will start the first game
on Monday against the Blue Jays.
He will face former Mariner Yusei
Kikuchi who signed a two year deal
with Toronto. Robbie Ray's next outing
should be the second game of the
series against the Red Sox in Boston.
The Mariners play four in Boston after
three in Toronto.

The Mariners are in third place of AL
west with a record of 16-19. They are
seven games behind Houston who are
a half game ahead of LA Angels. The Blue Jays are third place in AL east
with a record of 18-17. They are seven
and a half behind the New York Yankees. Hopefully the Mariners can
take care of Toronto. The Red Sox
are in dead last place. They have
played more games on the road however at home they are 4-9. We
can hope good things in Boston
to for the Mariners.

Let you know a secret I believe
Jarred Kelenic is still with the
ball club and will be activated
against Toronto. See if it will
happen.

Another Close Game But Loss

The Seattle Mariners had another
close loss losing to the Mets 5-4.
There is a reason the Mets are a
good team and the Mariners average
at best right now.

The Mariners didn't score a run until
the sixth inning. The Mets had four
runs by then. George Kirby who pitch
well in his opening start didn't have
the same in this one. He threw too
many pitches and last only four innings
giving up three runs. We could still
see his potential in this game.

Jesse Winkler tied the game in the
seventh inning with a three run homer.
The Mets got a run in the bottom of
the seventh to win the game. We hope
this allows Winkler to start hitting well.
He ended the game striking out.

Mike Ford was at dh once again. He
didn't get a hit at all. Dylan Moore
pinch hit for him against a lefty. I
wonder if Ford is a major league
hitter or another good triple A hitter.
There had to be a good reason the
SF Giants traded him back to the
Mariners. The Mariners I am sure
give him a chance until Kyle Lewis
returns. Have to see how this road
trip goes.

Robbie Ray pitches today instead of
Chris Flexen. I expect the reason is
likely Ray isn't vaccinated and couldn't
face his old team. The Mariners go
to Toronto for a three game series on
Monday. Players have to be vaccinated
to play. The Mariners don't show yet
who is scheduled to pitch against
the Blue Jays. It will be interesting to
see who else won't be in this series
for the Mariners and who maybe the
reinforcements. In the meantime
the Mariners need to win Sunday.
Go M's.

Mariners Win Pitching Duel

Friday  night  was probably  the Mariners
best game of the season.  Certainly on
the pitching  front.

Marco Gonzales  dueled well  with Mets
ace Max Scherzer. Marco  went six and
two-thirds  innings giving up one run on
five hits. The one run  happened in the
first inning.

Scherzer  was pitching great as well pitching
a no-hitter going into  the fourth inning
when the Mariners  were able to  tie the game.

The Mariners scored  the only other run of
the game in the eighth inning when Abraham
Toro  and Adam Frazier both walked. Ty France
hit a ball to right field to  score the winning. The
run  was not off Scherzer as he left the game
after seven innings. In all Scherzer gave up
three hits.

The Mariners  made several  moves before
going  to  New York.  The biggest  move was
sending Jarred Kelenic down to triple-A Tacoma.
Steven Sousa Jr a local player who almost
made the ballclub out of  spring training was
recalled from Tacoma. Also, Mike Ford  required
from the San Francisco Giants was activated too.
Both were in Friday night's game. Sousa in right
field and Ford at dh.

The Mariners  still have three outfielders with Sousa
playing mostly  right. Thursday general manager
Jerry  Dipoto  wasn't  sure how long Mitch Haniger
will be  out and when Kyle Lewis on rehab assignment
will be recalled. Dipoto  would like Lewis to be totally
healthy to play in the field though spend time at dh as
well when he does return  to  the Mariners. Of course,
this will depend how  the outfielders are hitting.

George Kirby  will start Saturday for the Mariners. He
is native of New York state so he should  have a lot of
fans in the stands. Go M's.

Mariners Take On The Mets

The Seattle  Mariners  have a three
game series  in New York  against
the Mets.

This isn't  the Mets we are accustomed
too.  The Mets are 22-11, first place
of the National League  East with six
and a half lead over the Atlanta Braves.

Max Scherzer will  be  on the mound
Friday  night against Marco Gonzales
for the Mariners.  Scherzer has a 4-1
record with an era of 2.92. He has
walked only nine batters in 37 innings,
however, the Mariners will have to find
a way to get his pitch count up which
won't  be an easy task.

Those who may not know Robinson
Cano is no longer a member  of the
Mets as he was released a couple
weeks ago.  The rumor is the San
Diego Padres may sign him. Cano
had talks with  the Baltimore Orioles,
however, things must not have gone
anywhere.

In football  news it looks like Seattle
Seahawks will  open the season on
Monday night football at home against
Russell Wilson and the Denver Broncos.
This means should be a noisy night
for sure.

Who do you think  will win this game
and who will  be  Seahawks opening
night quarterback.  Go Hawks!

Mariners Another Series Loss

After losing on the last road trip
the Mariners lost 4-2 Wednesday
afternoon  4-2. This meant the
home stand record was 2-5 after
2-7 on the road. I am sure you realize
Mariners 4-12 in their last 12 games.
What holds for the future doesn't
look good but the Mariners could turn
things around still.

The Mariners will need to have their
hitters do a better job of not only
hitting but to drive in runs when
runners are on base. What they need
to do get runners on base with walks
as well. They did so during the early
part of April.

Logan Gilbert gave up a grand slam
in the 4th inning of this game. This
was his first loss of the season. For
the Mariners to succeed Gilbert will
to pitch like he did in April or at least
better than last two starts. Marco
Gonzales will need to pitch like he
is capable of and not give home
runs in crucial situations. George
Kirby to pitch well without following
in Matt Brash way by struggling
after a couple starts. Chris Flexen
needs to get back to pitching like
he did before last start despite
poor run support. Robbie Ray needs
to do what he has done except one
bad inning in each start. The most
important thing at least three pitchers
need to do a good job in each rotation
giving them opportunity to win.

The bullpen needs to be successful
as well. In the same manner not
giving up runs in crucial situations.
Diego Castillo needs his splitter
start working again. The rest of
the bullpen seems to be doing a
fine job.

The team in all is not making crucial
mistakes. Not sure when Kyle Lewis
will be available but hopefully soon
and Mitch Haniger returning. Other
wise Jesse Winkler and Jarred Kelenic
need to hit better. Possibly as well
as Julio has been doing lately. The
infielders for the most part have been
hitting well. Abraham Toro needs to
do better and Eugenio Suarez more
consistent. Luis Torrens and Cal Raleigh need to do a better job hitting
to. They need to hit over .200 in the
next stretch. With Tom Murphy out
they both have given more opportunity
to play and show what the have.
Defensively both are doing fine but
batting under .200 isn't helping the
team. Go M's.

Mariners Even Series

The Seattle Mariners won another
close game after struggling in
recent times. They beat the Phillies
5-4 Tuesday night. The series ends
with a Wednesday matinée. The
Mariners then go to New York to
play a three game series beginning
on Friday.

The Mariners scored two runs in the
first inning followed by another in the
second. None of the hits early were
hit hard. Robbie Ray was pitching a
no hitter until the fifth inning when
he gave up two runs. So far on the
season Ray seems to have one bad
inning where he gives up runs. We
hope he turns things around in this
manner.

Andre Munoz came in to get the final
out of the sixth inning. For the most
part Munoz has had a good season.
Eriq Swanson gave up a home run
in the seventh after the Mariners scored two in the sixth inning. Paul Sewald gave up a home run in the
9th inning however shut the door
striking out the last hitter.

Logan Gilbert pitches Wednesday
afternoon. See if the Mariners
can take the series. Go M's.

Mariners Still Going Downhill

After a good start to the season
things haven't been well. The
Mariners were able to beat Tampa
Bay to end six game losing streak.
Unfortunately they lost to the
Philadelphia Phillies 9-0 on Monday
to begin the series. The Mariners
have a three game series against
the Phillies than start a three game
series in New York against the Mets
on Friday. The Mets are the top team
in the NL east.

Chris Flexen who has had no run
support so far in his starts didn't
pitch well in this one  giving up
six runs in five innings. Diego
Castillo who has struggled recently
gave up the other three runs in two-
thirds of an inning. Until he gets his
slider back in order he should only
pitch in games where the decision
who is winning is going on.

Danny Young made his Mariners
debut coming in for Castillo. He
finished the game going two and
one-thirds innings giving up three
hits but no runs. I expect we won't
see him again until the New York
series if he goes east with the
Mariners.

Julio Rodriguez continues to hit.
He had three hits including a double.
His batting average is now at .255
which is a good sign he has figured
things out for the meantime. Jesse
Winker was the only other one with
a hit. JP Crawford who was out again
might be back Tuesday night.

The Seahawks had their rookie camp
ending over the weekend. Other news
outside linebacker KJ Wright maybe
returning to the Seahawks. He might
not be playing but might be a coach
or be in another capacity. Let you know
comes up with him. Go Hawks!

Mariners End Losing Streak

The Seattle Mariners ended their
losing streak of six games on
Mother's Day.

It wasn't an easy task though
George Kirby in his major league
debut went six innings giving up
no runs, four hits, no walks and
striking out seven. Unfortunately
the game was 0-0 when he left
the game.

Though no win his column the
Mariners beat  the Rays 2-1. It
wasn't in easy task as Rays
Manuel Margot hit a home run
off of Eriq Swanson in the 8th
inning. Swanson struck out the
side after that. It looked like
another loss to the Mariners
when Abraham Toro for the
second game in a row hit a
home run in the 9th to tie it.

Paul Sewald was able to get
the Rays in the 10th. Ty France
with two outs hit a deep ball to
left field to win the game for the
Mariners making it a celebration
for the Mariners and Kirby though
Sewald recorded the win.

We hope Kirby will continue to do
well the rest of the season coming
up in place of Matt Brash who was
sent to Tacoma. Speaking of Brash
right now he is working out of the
Rainier's bullpen. Not sure why but
I guess is to get his control back in
order without out going every five
days. Depending on his success we
could see Brash come out of the
Mariners bullpen this season unless
the Mariners need another starter
at some point. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Sixth Straight

The Seattle Mariners haven't done
well since their last home stand.
They went 2-7 on the last road trip
and have lost the first  three games
against Tampa Bay.

The Mariners  had opportunity  to
score in the fourth  inning with the
Rays ahead 2-0 with the bases loaded
but we're unable to bring in a single
run. I the fifth inning Julio Rodriguez
led off with a triple. It looked like Julio
would be stranded, however, Adam
Frazier  hit a single  to drive  him in.

The Rays  scored another run in the
sixth inning making it 3-1. The
Mariners  still had a chance but in
the 8th inning the Rays scored
five runs off reliever Diego Castillo
including a grand slam.

Right now  the Mariners are struggling
with hitting  and the bullpen  as well.
The Mariners need to  turn things around.

JP Crawford  who has been  the
Mariners  best hitter had to leave
Saturday's  game with back spams.
We hope it is temporary. Dylan
Moore came in to replace him.

Abraham Toro  who has been
struggling at the plate batting
.151 hit a solo home run making
the final score. I am sure many
fans are wondering why Toro
has been  in the lineup so much.
The only answer  I have who else
can be.

George  Kirby  who is  in place
for Matt Brash is going to  make
his major league debut on Sunday.
The Mariners are moving Chris
Flexen back to start on Monday
against the Philadelphia Phillies.
We hope that Kirby  can have an
excellent game in his debut. The
Mariners  need someone to  stop

the bleeding. Go M's.

Former Mariner Beats Them

The Seattle  Mariners  who have been
struggling  at the plate lost Thursday
night to the Tampa Bay  Rays at home
in the opening game of  a  four game
series.

I am  sure  it was sweet for catcher  Mike
Zunino who hit a three run homer off
Mariners  ace Robbie Ray in the fourth
inning which lead to four runs. It was all
the Rays needed to  win the game 4-3.

The Mariners  scored a run in the fifth,
sixth, and seventh each but of course
not enough. Outfielder  Jesse  Winker
hit a home run in the 5th inning. He came
up in the 9th inning  to see if he could tie
the game but lined out to first base. Luis
Torrens  ended the game by striking out.

Logan  Gilbert who was American League
pitcher of the month in April  goes on the
mound Friday night see if he can end the
losing streak. Go M's.

Brash Sent To Tacoma

Matt Brash was unable to go no
more than three innings in his
last two outings. This was after
going five and a third innings
in his first two starts then four
and a third inning in his third start.

Brash has now been sent to triple A
Tacoma on Friday. We hope Brash
will make it back this year.

Pitcher Matt Festa was placed on the
injured list with right elbow tendinitis.
Festa had missed time with Tommy John
surgery in March 2020.

The Mariners recalled right-handed pitcher
Riley O'Brien from Tacoma. O'Brien is a
native of Seattle. He pitched in five games
for Tacoma giving up one run that was not
earned. Also, recalled lefty Danny Young
from Tacoma too. Young has pitched in
nine games all in relief as well. Has an era
of 7.00.

Brash next start would have been
on this coming Monday. There is
a good possibility George Kirby
will be recalled making the start
from double A  Arkansas. We hope
success for him. Go M's.

Brash and Mariners End Disastrous Road Trip

Matt Brash hasn't done well in
his last several outings after
a good spring training and
opening start.

Wednesday afternoon Brash
lasted only three innings against
the Houston Astros giving up six
hits and four runs while walking
four and striking out three.

The question now is it time to
send Brash down to the minor
leagues. My answer is yes. It
isn't like a couple games but
has been several. I am sure we
will see him again this season

Not sure what the Mariners are
thinking and I am sure they are
working with him with no improve-
ment. Don't want him to lose more
of his confidence.

The Mariners looked like they were
going to go three straight games
in a row without scoring a run. Eugenio
hit a two-run homer in the seventh
inning. The Mariners were swept by
the Astros losing Wednesday 7-2.

The Mariners come home Thursday
taking on Tampa Bay who they start
this road trip which they went 2-7.
Hopefully home cooking will turn things around for them. Robbie Ray
starts Thursday night's game follow
by Logan Gilbert.  Go M's!

Mariners Lack Offense In Houston

The Seattle Mariners had trouble
hitting once again in Houston
against the Astros.

Not a big surprise since the Astros
joined the American League west.
Can't be just the Mariners  since
the Astros have been winning the
division most of those years.

The Mariners were only able to
have hits on the night with two
by Ty France. The Mariners were
shut out 3-0.

Marco Gonzales returned after
being hit by a line drive in his
last outing. Marco was able to
go six innings giving up the three
runs. The three runs by Houston
came from two home runs. Marco
does throw a hard fastball so direction
and position is important. The reason
he gives up so many.

On Monday the Mariners had to go
down to 26 players on active roster.
They sent down infielder Donovan
Walton and pitcher Justus Sheffield.
Walton hadn't played much since he
had been called up. He was recalled
when Mitch Haniger was put on the
covid injured list. Though used out
of the Mariner's bullpen at Tacoma
Sheffield likely will start this allow
him to stretch out in case the Mariners
need another starter.

The Mariners have nine relievers and
five starters on the active roster.
Tom Murphy and Luis Torrens are the
catchers. They have six infielders
with Abraham Toro and Dylan Moore
as the extras. Toro has played a lot
primarily at third and on occasion
at second and dh. Dylan Moore list
as infielder has played mostly right
field against lefties. The Mariners
have four outfielders with Stuart
Fairchild called up when Mitch
Haniger went on injured list for
ankle sprain. How much he will
play will probably not be a lot. A
right handed hitter he might play
in left field for Jesse Winker against
lefties or if Winker is dh.

Chris Flexen goes Tuesday night for
the Mariners in Houston. Important
game for Mariners to win as they
play a day game Wednesday game
against Justin Verlander.  Go.M's.

Julio Rodriguez Hits First Home Run

Sunday afternoon rookie sensation
Julio Rodriguez hit his first major
league  home run. It made a big
difference to allowing the Mariners
to end their four game losing streak.

The home run by Julio was with two
runners on base and put the Mariners
up to a 5-0 at the time in the six inning

Logan Gilbert who is having a fine
season being the Mariners best
pitcher so far did have some trouble
walking four batters. He did have
five strike outs. He left the game
after giving up a home run in the
sixth inning. He left with two outs.
He gave up only three hits and now
has an era of 0.64 and a record of
4-0.

Jesse Winker got out of his slump
or bad luck with three hits. JP
Crawford continued his hot hitting
including a home run for the Mariners
first run of the game in the 2nd inning.

The Mariners now play three games
in Houston starting Monday night.
Hopefully they can take down the
Astros. The Mariners are in second
place a game ahead of the Astros.

Losing Haniger What Will It Mean

The Seattle  Mariners  lost Mitch Haniger
for  two weeks because  of covid-19.  Now
they may lose him for at least  two weeks
or longer because of an ankle  sprain.

The Mariners  offense was not good when
Haniger was out for the first two weeks.
This means guys like Jesse Winker and
Eugenio Suarez will  have to  step up.

This doesn't  mean  they have to need a
high batting average  but get a hit in key
situations. It doesn't  mean  either they
have to  do so each game. One of them
needs to do it. JP Crawford  continues
to hit well  along with Ty France. They
each need to  continue along with others.

Julio Rodriguez is starting to  hit now
and the Mariners  need to  get more
out of Jarred Kelenic.  Dylan Moore  is
doing well when he is in the lineup.

Again key hits from anyone in the lineup.
Sunday Logan Gilbert starts and the Mariners
need him continue what he has so they don't
get swept by Miami before heading to Houston.
Go M's.
