Seahawks beat Giants

The Seahawks  now have won three in
a row beating the New York  Giants
27-13.

If you turned off the game at the end
of the  first quarter  you missed exciting
finish for the Seahawks.  Neither team
did well in the first quarter scoring no
points.

The second quarter  the Seahawks  had
ten points while the Giants had seven.
Both teams had turnovers so where the
Giants got their  seven points.

Both teams had field goals in the third
quarter  and the Seahawks  had two
touchdowns in the 4th while the Giants
had another field goal.

Tyler Lockett  had  a  touchdown after
missing one earlier that went through
his hands. What a way to  redeem himself.
DK Metcalf  wasn't  expected to  play but
he did and had a touchdown too. Ken
Walker didn't  run like  he did the week
before  but had a touchdown.

The  Seahawks  defense stopped  the
Giants  running game.  Had only 78
yards on the day. The Giants had to
pass the ball instead but getting  down
by two touchdowns  makes sense.

The Seahawks  next week  play  the
Cardinals again. See if the defense
will do another  fine job. I am sure
the Cardinals  will try to change things
up. The Seahawks  haven't had a lot of
success in Arizona.  The main thing is
not have injuries which they often have
playing in  Arizona.  Go Hawks!

Seahawks Sunday

The Seahawks  take on the New York
Giants this week at home.  Let's see
if the Seahawks  can win their third
in a row.

The offe se has been a  surprise so
so far and the defense has  done well
in the last two games.

I heard on the radio the Giants love to
run the ball whether they ahead or  behind.
Of course,  this means the Seahawks have
to stop the run.

On the offense contine running the ball too
along with timely passes. A lot of medium
passes with an occasional long one when
they are second and short.

DK Metcalf  is  expected  to  miss the game.
So someone besides  Tyler Lockett will have
to step up. Go Hawks!

Cougars Lose Huskies Have Bye

Thursday  night  WSU  Cougars  took
on the tough Utah Utes on their own
field  but lost  21-17.

Neither  team were able to score I
first quarter.  Utah had two touchdowns
in second quarter  while Cougars
had one. Utah had a touchdown in
the third quarter while the Cougs
went black. The Cougars made it
interesting as they scored ten points
and the Utes had no points. The Cougars
are 4-4 with one  win Conference play.

The Cougars  have four games  remaining.
November  5 they play at Stanford  then
two against the Arizona  schools.  All
three games the Cougars  can win.  They
finish  the  season on the last Saturday at
home against  the Huskies. The Cougars
need to win two games to be bowl eligible.
I expect they will be in a bowl game unless
they blow it badly.

The Apple Cup will decide which bowl game
each team goes to.  The Huskies don't have
an easy ride. A week  from Friday  they play
the Beavers followed by  the  Ducks the next
Saturday.  They do play Colorado  which they
should win. By the way the Ducks are undefeated
heading into next week  in the conference..
Right now the Ducks, USC and Utah are those
looking  into the Conference championship.
Either  the Huskies  or Beavers could make it
but would have to  win all four games to do so.
Let's see  what happens.  👍👍

Mariners Catching

We know the Mariners  starting catcher
is Cal Raleigh. Though he got off to a
slow start  on the season  my opinion
all along he should have been  catching
regular from the start of the season instead
of alternating three catchers. At least we
now know who will start.

The question is  who will be the backup
catcher and if they will carry three on the
roster.  The first answer is Luis Torrens
going to  be  on the team and if so will
he be the backup catcher. Will he be
versatile  enough to backup at first, second
and third base as well as dh. Will Torrens
play mainly against lefties  and give Raleigh
a day off against a tough lefty.

Second will the Mariners  bring back Tom
Murphy or should they pickup  another
catcher. Yes I  know they have a couple
other catchers on their roster.

Raleigh  has shown he can handle  the
pitching staff and can hit in the clutch
with how runs. I  expect his average will
go up as well. What that average be is
anyone's guess  but he is the guy. 👍👍

Seahawks Wednesday

The Seahawks  cinrinue making moves
while getting  ready to  play the New York
Giants.

Most likely  DK Metcalf  won't  play on
Sunday. He won't  need surgery  but might
miss a few games. We will have to see.
This means seeing  more of Marguise
Goodwin who had two touchdowns against
the Chargers.  We probably see more of
three tight ends as well.  Both for running
game as well  as  passing.  At least one of
the tight ends should be open.

The Seahawks  released a  couple of players
on the active  roster  so Travis  Homer may
be activated  for this Sunday. Having a good
running  back  to add to  Ken Walker and Deejay
Dallas will be  good. Go Hawks!

The Mariners Infield

Looking  back on the 2022 season the
Seattle Mariners  infield was solid. The
Mariners can still improve  though.

Ty France had another  good season
at first base when he wasn't  hurt. His
numbers after the all-star break  wasn't
as good. Wonder if injuries  played a part.
Carlos Santana  played well  at first in
the  place of France when the Mariners
picked him up  from Kansas City. Also,
did the job at dh as well. His batting average
wasn't  great  but  had some key hits especially
home runs. Whether he will be  back in 2023
we will  have  to  see.

Adam Frazier at second we have  to say was a
disappointment though he had  his moments.
His batting average  was .238 compared to
.273 career average. It would have been nice
to get closer to the career average. He showed
he could play left and right field to and played
a little  shortstop  as well. Adam will be a free
agent so there is  a good possibility he won't
return. The Mariners  are looking to find someone
with more punch. Dipoto  has hinted getting a
free agent shortstop who is willing to play second.

Speaking  of  shortstop  JP Crawford had an ok
season  though not as good as in 2021. He had
a .238 average  compared to .273 in 2021. Though
his defense was good  it wasn't as like 2021 either.
We hope Crawford bounces back. Picking up  a
shortstop  depending  on  the  player Crawford
could move to  second base.  Either way the Mariners
should upgrade at second.  Crawford  seems not
to do as well in the second half of the season so
picking up someone who can play some shortstop
would be great. We know Dylan Moore  can play
shortstop  on occasion  but he doesn’t have  a  good
enough at the plate. I  would  love  to  see upgrade
at the utility position  to.

Speaking  of  utility  Abraham  Toro  was a disappointment
for sure. Had he hit better would have been more pleasing
when Frazier  did not. Toro was sent down to triple-A even.
Would have been off the playoff roster hadn't  Moore or
Sam Haggerty  went on the injured list. Haggerty was the
surprised utility  player when he was called  up. Haggerty
had a .256 batting average for the season. He was around
.300 before having to  play everyday.  His speed was
missed during the playoffs.  I  am sure most agree he
should be  back in 2023.

The biggest  surprise  had to be Eugenio Suarez at third
base. He was a throw in the trade when the Mariners  picked
up Jesse Winker from Cincinnati but had a better season
by far. He led the Mariners in home runs with 31 along with
87 runs batted in. His biggest surprise  was with his glove.
He let us forget about Kyle Seager.  Had the Mariners not
made that trade the team wouldn't have been in the playoffs.
The Mariners  would  have  had to rely on Abraham  Toro  and
Dylan  Moore  at third unless they had picked up another third
baseman. Also, Eugenio  was great in the club house.

So let's see what the Mariners to improve  the infield.

How About the Seahawks

The Seahawks won on Sunday
37-23 over the LA Chargers.
Hard to say that since used
to saying San Diego.

The Hawks are now 4-3 after
two straight wins and on the
top of the NFC West.  This version of the Hawks I certainly
like. Geno Smith had another
good game completing 20 of 27 for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Gave up an interception to but no one is
perfect. You can say that when they win.

The Seahawks were able to
take advantage of a turnover
or two. They got up to a 17-0
lead in the first quarter. The
Chargers came back in the
second quarter to make the
game interesting with two touchdowns but it was mainly
the Hawks in the second half.

It nice to have a good running
game with Ken Walker having 163 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. DK Metcalf was injured and so we have to
see how long he will be out.
How many know about Marquise Goodwin. I certainly
don't though I knew he was
on.the team. He had four catches and two touchdowns
on the day. The Seahawks have
another weapon to use. Also,
they used all three tight ends
in the game at the same time.
Will Dissly had four of the six
catches from the tight ends
but they were affective in the
running game too.

The defense did their job on
the day too. They kept the
Chargers down.

Next Sunday they play the New
York Giants at home. The Giants are doing well with a
6-1 record so can't take them
lightly. Let's make it three in
a row. Go Hawks!

The Mariners Outfield

Outside of Julio Rodriguez the Mariners
outfield  was close to a disaster  again.
Hadn't  been  for Sam Haggerty,  Dylan
Moore (on defense) and  the return of
Mitch Haniger  late in the season would
have been  worse.

Left field  was a troublesome  spot like
it has been for years. Jesse Winker  had
his moments but for the most part was
a non-factor. The Mariners  had Kyle
Lewis  for a few games to.

We hope  the Mariners  can  resign  Mitch
Haniger in right or bring in someone in
his place. Jarred  Kelenic  or Taylor Trammell
in left field.  Both we see can play good
defense, however,  the offense needs to
come alive. We see potential but now need
the real  thing.  I  don't  want to see platooning
of either Kelenic  or Trammell  will  Dylan Moore.

I  am  not  expecting  to  see Adam Frazier  return
but if so he could play some left or right field. Winker
back in left he would have to  improve his  defense
as well  as  his offense. The Mariners  to make a
solid run through  the  playoffs need three steady
and healthy outfielders.  Let's  see  what the Mariners
come up with.

A Seahawks Key

For the Seahawks it will be
important to stay healthy
for the rest of the season
to make the playoffs.

With Rashaad Penny out
for the season it will be
important rookie Ken Walker
stays healthy. Before the
trading deadline should
look to pick up another
running back. One who
can spell Walker and carry
the ball at least times.

On defense the Seahawks
can't afford losing anyone
as well. There is talk that
the Seahawks are looking
to trade former Husky
cornerback Sidney Jones.
Fine if they can get a running
back in exchange. We just
hope no injuries at cornerback
as well.

Thought the Seahawks would
be at the bottom of the division
but they look like they could
win the NFC West. Arizona not
doing well for sure and the Rams having an off year. The
49ers look to be in the driver
seat but lost last week.

The Seahawks, Rams and 49ers
are all 3-3. The Cardinals beat
New Orleans on Thursday night
so are 3-4. Hopefully Seahawks
beat LA Chargers on Sunday
to stay at the top of the division
no matter what the Rams and
49ers do. 😊😊

Mariners Starting Pitching

We  know heading into 2023 who the
top four in the starting rotation  will
be for the Seattle  Mariners. The  question
the Mariners  have to decide who will  be
the 5th starter.

The four starters for  sure should be
Luis Castillo,  Robbie Ray, Logan Gilbert
and George  Kirby.  Not necessarily in
that order. In fact, if Robbie Ray is the
lone lefty I  would stick him in the three
spot.

I would like  to  see Emerson  Hancock  as
the fifth starter. I  like to see  Matt Brash
stay in the  bullpen.  They can always  put
him back in the rotation  if necessary.
Where does that leave Chris Flexen  and
Marco Gonzales.  The Mariners  may look
to trade  both of them. Flexen could be in
the bullpen but needs a more defined role.
Marco not sure if the bullpen is ready for
him. Both would be costly  salary wise in
the bullpen.

It looks like Andre Munoz  is  going to  have
surgery  on one of his feet. Cal Raleigh  has
his thumb. Whether rest or surgery  we will
see. Julio has fingertip issue like Eugenio
Suarez had. Take some rest to. I  am  sure
his back could use it too.

Jerry Dipoto  says  the  Mariners would like
to get a shortstop  who is willing to  play
second base.  Sounds like a good idea.
Have a regular  second baseman  who can
play shortstop if JP Crawford needs a day
off or injury happens to Crawford. Be
nice to see Sam Haggerty  back after his
healing of injury.  He could play some second
base and outfield  if needed. Go M's!

Seahawks Defense

It is interesting  after one game
where the Seahawks  did quite
well against the Arizona  Cardinals
there are those calling the best
defense since the legion of boom.

I grant Tariq Woolen with an interception
for  four straight games is quite
accomplishment at least see how they
do against the Los Angeles  Chargers
on the road.

The Denver Broncos  losing to the Chargers
on Monday night  football in overtime and
now have a 2-4 record, looks like the Seahawks
should get a pretty  high draft pick next year.
The next two weeks  the Broncos play the
New York  Jets and Jacksonville. How they do
in those two games will tell  us a lot.

Here We are Post Playoffs For Mariners

It certainly  was nice to  see  the  Mariners
in the playoffs  for the first  time  in 20 years.
They certainly  had a  good  showing.  Only a
few pitches away  from AL  championship
series.

What changes  will happen  with the team
going into  next year. Most agree it will  be
on the offense.

We will  look at the bullpen  first. A great season
outside of game one and two against  the  Astros.
Matthew Boyd was the lefty  in  the  bullpen during
September  and October.  Will he return? He will be
a free agent. Justus Sheffield  seems  to  be  the
only lefty  to  still have a chance. The  only  spot for
him. The Mariners  could  unload him to.  See what is
on the market.

Casey Sadler  should  be  back  after missing  last season.
Penn Murfee  did a good job in his spot being the first
pitcher out of the pen. Murfee could have the role coming
in the seventh  or eighth inning.

Can Erik Swanson  have another good season for the
Mariners  with more time coming  late in  games. Paul
Sewald  have another good season  for the third straight
season.  Hard to  know  but good to see.

Matt Brash  may go back in the starting rotation  as the
fifth starter.  This will depend on whether  Emerson Hancock
is ready or not. If Brash stays in the bullpen he and Andre Munoz
will be the primary  end of the bullpen pitching the 9th. Sewald
could face  the  top of the lineup once again  but likely  in the
7th or 8th. Depending  on Brash being in bullpen  or not. Diego
Castillo  likely  be pitching  the 7th depending  on  how he is doing
at the time. Could the Mariners  trade him to?

Chris Flexen  with his $8million option is too expensive for the
bullpen. The likelihood  he will be  traded. The same  goes for
Marco  Gonzales who doesn't seem to  fit into the  bullpen.

Those are the main guys  for the bullpen.  The Mariners  may
have one or two spots to fill including  a lefty.

FOOTBALL Weekend

Washington  Huskies  beat 49-39  Over
Arizona on Saturday afternoon.  Both teams
passing defense  were poor.  Penix Jr  Huskies
quarterback  had over 500 yards passing
while de Laura former  Cougar qb had 400
yards. The Huskies defensive  backs  are young.

Both teams are not good on the ground either
on defense  but still  to pass for success.

Oregon State is a good  team beating  the Cougars
24-10. The Beavers  did it on the ground while Cougars
did it in the air.

The Seahawks  played well beating Arizona  Cardinals
19-9. The Seahawks  did a good  job on defense. The
Cardinals  only touchdown was on a Seahawks turnover.
The Seahawks  had six sacks on the day. Ryan Neal who
has done well  since coming  to  Seattle  did an excellent
job at the nickel back spot. Former  Husky Sidney Jones
was back after missing  some time hurt. The Seahawks
are now 3-3. They play this way more often  on defense
they will  make the  playoffs. The question  can they.

Disappointing But Close

The Seattle  Mariners  may have played
in one of the most amazing playoff game
ever before losing 1-0 in the 18th inning.

Going extra innings  knowing a home run
by  either side would  be  the end of the
game. Unfortunately the Astros  hit a
home run by shortstop Pena in the 18th.

We have to figure though the Mariners
we're swpt it was by only three pitches
for the most part.

We have to  be proud  of this team. They
beat Toronto  and  gave Houston  all they
got. We couldn't  ask for more other than
going to  the AL championship.

What would  have the result been if the
Mariners  had a healthy Cal Raleigh behind
the plate or a healthy  Kyle  Lewis  who
would have added punch to the lineup.

Speaking of Lewis  we hope to  see him
healthy  when spring  training  begins.
Also,  moves the Mariners make over
the next five months. Yes spring training
will start in five months.

Thanks again Mariners  for  exciting 2022.
We hope greater things in 2023. We will  look
at the plus and  minuses of 2022. Go M's.

What a busy weekend of sport's

Seattle  has a lot going on in sports
this weekend.  We hope the Mariners
win twice  and go back to  Houston.

The Washington Huskies  have  a  2:30
game at Husky stadium  against Arizona
Wildcats and Seattle Kraken are home
against Las Vegas on Saturday.

On Sunday the Seahawks  play the Arizona
Cardinals.  We hope the  time changes
with Mariners  winning.

Let you  know  how all them turn out.  😊😊😊

Kraken Win

Thursday the Kraken beat the LA Kings 4-1. The Kraken bright spot unlike in the opener on Wednesday they didn't give up a goal in the third period. I hope this happens more often.

The Kraken actually scored a goal themselves in the third period after being up 3-1. Obviously the Kings are not good but shows some improvement in the Kraken defense.

The Kraken next game is home Saturday against Las Vegas. I hope we are in a good mood with a Mariner win and Huskies as well.

Alvarez One Man Recking Crue

The Mariners  lost to the  Astros  again
for one player primarily  in Yordan Alvarez.
For the second  game  in  a  row Alvarez
beat the Mariners almost single handed.

The difference  in  second game Alvarez
hit a two-run  homer in the sixth inning.
The Astros  added another run in the 8th.

The Mariners  took the lead scoring two
runs in the  4th. Santana drove in Suarez
with a  double. Haniger had walked and scored
on Dylan Moore hit.

Valdez the  Astros  starter went five and one-thirds
innings. The Mariners  couldn't  get another hit
until  the  9th  along with  a walk but couldn't take
advantage  of it.

Now the Mariners  come home to  see if  they can
win both  games and send it back to Houston. The
one thing is to  pitch Alvarez differently or not at all.

George Kirby  is  expected  to start on Saturday. All
pitchers  will be available for sure.  It won't be  easy
but the  Mariners  can still  do it. Go M's

Kraken Start on Sour Note and More sports

The Seattle  Kraken  had  opening game
Wednesday night at Anaheim.  The Kraken
got off to good standing but could not
sustain it.

Kraken  were  up 3-1 then 4-2 but like
often  last season  had terrible  third period
by giving up two goals. Anaheim  scored in
overtime  for the win. At least Kraken is
shown with a tie instead of  a loss.

To have success the Kraken  need to find
a way  to  shut down the opposition in the
third period.  Thursday they play LA Kings
on the road. The first  home game  of the
season  is Saturday  night  against Las Vegas.

The Seahawks  said Rashaad  Penny's
surgery  was a  success  though will
miss rest of the season. Penny will  be
a free agent will  Seahawks  sign  him
next year?

The Seahawks  made several  roster moves.
Included  was a familiar  face  in linebacker
Bruce Irvin  to the practice  squad.  Will we
see him sometime  this  season  in a game.
We will see.

Thursday  Luis Castillo  will  go for the Mariners.
Hopefully  return to  Seattle  1-1. They announced
George Kirby  will start game 3 on Saturday.  Will
we see Logan Gilbert  again on  Sunday  if there
is a game four. Go M's.

Mariners Blow Opportunity

Can't blàme Tuesday's loss
on the offensive this time.
The Mariners got to Verlander early scoring six runs in four innings.  The Mariners got only
one run after that, however,
it was the bullpen costing the
Mariners the game.

The Mariners showed they can
play with the Astros so hopefully they will comeback
in game two on Thursday when
Luis Castillo takes the mound.

The Mariners were leading 7-3
heading going into the eighth
inning. Andre Munoz gave up
two runs in the 8th but the Mariners were still leading by
two.

Paul Sewald started the 9th
but couldn't get the job done.
The Mariners still had a chance to win. They brought in Robbie
Ray to face Yordan Alvarez who
ended the game with a three-run homer off of Ray. You could
say this was a mistake by Servais but Ray still should have gotten the job done.

We hope Castillo will be able
to.pitch like he did in the opener against Toronto to tie
the series. The Mariners seem
to have a bad time in.Houston.
We hope this the only game
works out this way. Go M's.

Round Two Begins

The Seattle  Mariners are in Houston to
take on the Astros in the best of five.
The Mariners  players are focused on
beating  the  Astros  and not on the
history  of  playing  in  Houston.

Logan Gilbert  takes the mound in game
one Tuesday  against Justin  Verlander.
The game starts at 3:37 pm Seattle  time.
The game is on TBS.

The Mariners  are hoping  to  get  to
Verlander  early. This would  be  the best
scenario  but doesn't  happen  keep it
close to the end. Go M's.

Monday, October 10, 2022

The Mariners Can Do It

The Mariners  are  now in round two.
They are facing the Astros  who they
don't  like. I  am sure  most people
unless they live in Houston  or lived
there sometime probably  don't like
them much either..

I am  sure  much of the country are
rooting for the Mariners  to knock off
the Astros. . Remember  the playoffs
are another  season.  Though the Astros
are favored so was Toronto.

Outside  of  Marco Gonzales  and Mitch
Haniger the players don't  have a lot of
history  against the  Astros. They want
to move on and face the Yankees  or
Guardians. Also, take one game  at a
time. Go M's.

Seahawks Lose At New Orleans

It isn't easy to win on the road.
This week the Seahawks lost
two the New Orleans Saints
39-32. Now they have a record
of 2-3.

Not only they lost but Rashaad
Penny left in the third quarter.
Had an ankle injury. Might be
out for a while. Let you know.
 Rookie Kenny Walker was the
main runner the rest of the way.
The Seahawks will have
to take someone off the practice
squad or sign another running
back. Stay tuned.

The Seahawks had trouble
stopping Saints running. Two
runners had over one hundred
yards. Tayesome Hill who is a
tight end and quarterback ran
112 yards and three touchdowns.
More work for the defense.

The Seahawks, Rams and Cardinals
are all 2-3.  The Seahawks home
next Sunday afternoon against the
Cardinals.  The 49ers are 3-2.

Unbelievable Mariners

The Seattle Mariners beat Toronto to take the series
Saturday afternoon 10-8.

The Mariners were down 8-1
before making their remarkable
comeback. Robbie Ray gave up four runs in three plus innings.
Matt Brash finish the fourth in
fine manner, however Paul Sewald pitched the fifth giving
up four more runs.

Mariners made their move in
sixth scoring four runs including a three-run homer
off the bat of Carlos Santana.
He doesn't have a high average
but Santana knows the right
time to deliver. You can say
the same for Raleigh though
he had three hits in this game.

Blue Jays scored a run in the seventh but JP Crawford had three RBIs in the 8th plus another run.Springer and Bichette collided to all the three runs. Springer had to be carried off. The Mariners scored the
final run in the 9th.

George Kirby for the first time
came in the 9th to close the
game. He allowed a walk but
that was it. Is Kirby a future closer. At least in the playoffs it looks this way.

Logan Gilbert likely go in game one in Houston followed by Castillo in game two. After that we will see Robbie Ray or not.
Go M's.

Mariners Take One Step Forward

The Seattle  Mariners  did what
their fans hoped for by beating
the Toronto  Blue Jay's on their
home turf 4-0.

The Blue Jay's  fans were pretty
silent for most of the game. They
got unruly when Springer was hit
in the  8th. Of course, Castillo
didn't  mean to hit Springer but
the fans booed in a bad manner.
We all know  Julio was hit
twice in the game. The first
led to a run.

Castillo  gave up as many  hits
as the Mariners  had but most
were the crack of the bat. Even
when Toronto  had two runners
on base Castillo  was at his best.

The key hit for the  Mariners  was
by the man Cal Raleigh a two-run
homer in the first inning to put the
Mariners  up 3-0. Later on they were
able  to  add another for good measure.

Saturday  we hope Robbie Ray  will do the
same and put the Blue Jay's  out of their
misery.  Go M's.

Friday, October 7, 2022

Welcome To the Playoffs

Friday afternoon  the Mariners  will
take on the Blue Jay's on the road
in Toronto.  Don't  really really know
the  rules but it looks  all three games
will be in Toronto. The advantage of
being the number one  wild card.

The Blue Jay's  are favored which
makes sense since they  are  playing
at home. They have a better offense,
however,  pitching and defense works
in the playoffs.

The Mariners  traded and signed Luis
Castillo  for this time along with Robbie
Ray as a free agent.  This weekend will
be the first step  we for many to come.
This is a new season  so we see what
happens.

At this point we don't  know  what  the
roster will look like.  We expect 11
pitchers and 15 position players. The
Mariners  will have three catchers likely
though Cal Raleigh  will  do most of
the catching. There will be eight starters
including dh plus Raleigh.  This means
there will  be four bench players.

Three bench players  likely to  be Dylan
Moore, Abraham Toro  and Taylor Trammell.
The  question  we will find out is who will
be number four.

The infield starting is pretty  clear in Ty France
at first, Adam Frazier at second, JP Crawford
at short, and Eugenio Suarez at third. The
outfield  should be Jarred Kelenic in left, Julio
Rodriguez in center and Mitch Haniger  in  right.
Carlos Santana should be the dh.

Let the games begin and see the Mariners  go.
The best in Toronto.  Go M's.

France Makes It 90

The Seattle Mariners end the season
with 90 wins just like last year.
Ty France drove in the final  run
as a walkout for score of 5-4.

Julio led off the bottom  of  the
first inning with a home run followed
by a home run by Mitch Haniger.
In the third inning Luis Torrens hit
a two run homer. Quite  the last
two days  for Torrens. He pitched
and got the win in game one Tuesday,
game two played catcher and Wednesday
played  second base besides the home run.

Julio became the leader of home runs to
led off a game for the  Mariners  with five
breaking the record Ichiro had with four
in season.

Marco Gonzales went seven innings giving
up four runs with three  being earned. Toro
had an error  trying  to  get  the batter at first.
It looks like Marco  won't  be  on the roster
for the first  playoff series  against Toronto.
If the Mariners make  the next round Marco
could be added.

Jesse Winker  who  has had a rough first
season has been added to  the  injury list
for his neck. Winker will miss the first two
playoff if the Mariners make it that far.
Taylor Trammell will take Winker's spot.
It looks like Jarred Kelenic will start the
series in left field.  Trammell will be the
fourth outfielder while Dylan Moore and
Abraham  Toro  will be the extra infielders.

We will  let you  know  who  will be  on the
first round playoff roster. We know the regular
guys but who will be the starters and relievers.
Luis Castillo  and  Robbie  Ray will start games
one and two. Go M's

Mariners Take Two

The Mariners won both
games on Tuesday. I am
not sure they have ever
played a doubleheader on
Tuesday before.

Both games were struggle
for the Mariners to win
but maybe à good test for
the playoffs.

Luis Torrens ended up pitching
extra innings and ended up
the winning pitcher. Abraham
Toro activated after Sam Haggerty was placed on the
injured list. Too bad for Sam
who was important part of
the Mariners making the
playoffs. Anyway Toro hit
a sacrifice fly as a walk off
in game one.

Luis Torrens pitched the tenth
inning and became the first position player for the Mariners
ever to record a win. He knew
he would pitch if the game went into extra innings. Torrens caught the second game.

In game two the Mariners had
a lead before Justus Sheffield
who was activated as the extra
player gave up a grand slam home run. Sheffield went five innings. He pitched well for four innings before the grand slam. Not sure he is a major league starter but could be
a good reliever. See if he is
given the chance next year.
Speaking of left handed
relievers Matt Boyd has done
a great job since he was activated in September after
the trade from San Francisco.
I hope he has chance to return
next season.

The Mariners know now they
will play the Blue Jays on Friday. They will head for Toronto after the final game
Wednesday afternoon. I am not sure like many but if the third
game happens it will be in
Seattle. We hope the Mariners
can take both at home. I
believe they take on Houston
after winning that series. Go
M's.

Mariners Try to Take Double header

The Seattle Mariners try to take doubleheader Tuesday after losing Monday 4-3. The bullpen was good after George Kirby didn't pitch a good game giving
up the four runs.

It was nice to see Julio back in the lineup at dh. Also, he won American League rookie of the year award.

Sam Haggerty was hurt in Monday's game. Most likely
won't play in the playoffs.
What a shame for sure. Both Taylor Trammel and Abraham
Toro are at T-Mobile Park..
Not sure who will take Haggerty s spot on the roster.
Since the Mariners are playing a doubleheader both might be
on.the roster today. Right
now Dylan Moore would be
the primary utility player.
The question have an additional infielder or outfielder.

Don't know yet who starts
the second game but Chris Flexen be starting the first
game. Good to see him
once again. Go M's.

Seahawks Win Mariners Lose

The Seattle Seahawks are now
2-2 after beating the Detroit
Lions 48-45. Not a defensive game for sure.

Rashaad Penny had 151yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns. Penny's second touchdown put the Seahawks ahead with just over two remaining in the game. The Lion's came back to score another touchdown but hard to win at that point.

DK Metcalf had seven catches
for 149 yards but no touchdowns. Tight ends Will
Dissly and Noah Fant had the
two catches from Geno Smith who completed 23 of 30 and 320 yards. Not bad for a good days work.

The Seattle Mariners tried to
sweep the Oakland A's however
were beaten 10-3. Now the Mariners will if they can end
the regular by sweeping the
Detroit Tigers at home.  Tuesday will be a double header. Go M's.

Luis Castillo Beats A's

For the first time Luis Castillo  beat the A's.
His previous  two starts he lost to  the  A's.
Castillo  went six innings  giving  up  one  run
which happened  in the first inning.

The Mariners  scored three runs  in  the
first inning.  The Mariners  didn’t score
again  until  the  eight when they scored
twice. The final score Seattle  5 Oakland 1

Sam Haggerty  drove in two of the three
runs in the  first. Had a third run driven
in the 8th with a sacrifice  fly.  Eugenio
Suarez, Mitch Haniger, and Friday's hero
Cal Raleigh had the  night off. Brian O'Keefe
activated  as the third catcher made his
major league  debut had his first hit in his
second  at bat. O'Keefe  was dh as Luis
Torrens  caught again.

The Mariners  will  see whether they will
sweep the A's  on Sunday.

One Swing Mariners Make Playoffs

It has been  a  long time  coming, however
the Mariners  are in the playoffs.

My man Cal Raleigh hit  a  pinch hit home
run in the bottom of  the  9th  winning 2-1.

Logan  Gilbert pitched a wonderful  game
going eight innings  and giving up the
one run.

Now the Mariners  will setup  how the rotation
will go in the playoffs.  Most likely  the three-man
rotation  will be Luis Castillo,  Robby Ray and
Logan Gilbert.  Making the second  round we
could see George  Kirby start. If  not, we will
see him make an important  appearance  in
the game. It will be interesting  to see Marco
Gonzales out of the pen to.

Speaking  of  Marco now that the Mariners  have
clinched he will likely make his last start against
the Texas Rangers. Next season will Marco be the
5th starter  it is hard  to know. Go M's.
