Seahawks Lose On Monday Night Football

There wasn't much defense in this game

and the Seahawks couldn't stop the Detroit 

Lions from.late in the first quarter until 

the end. The Seahawks had a chance in the fourth quarter to score but couldn'tconvert.

At the two minute warning they got a

safety. They did have a chance to score

to still make it interesting. Geno Smith

threw an interception with a minute ago

and that ended it. Next week they will 

need to improve the defense.

Final Lions 42 Seahawks 29

Geno Smith threw the most  passes as

he has a Seahawk. He threw 56 passes 

for 395 yards and one touchdown.

The amazing thing Lions quarterback

Jared Goff threw only 18 passes but

completed each one of them for 

292 yards and two touchdowns. I

don't think I have ever seen that before.

The Lions had a 21-7 lead at halftime

and the Seahawks really couldn't

recover.

Ken Walker returned  this week. He

had 12 carries for 80 yards and three

touchdowns. He caught four passes

as well for 36 yards.

The big key in the game was in the

second quarter when DK Metcalf

fumbled a pass and the Lions recovered.

They went in shortly for a touchdown.

Next Sunday the Seahawks will be

home to take on the New York Giants.

The Seahawks hope to rebound and

beat them after this being their

first loss. Go Hawks!

Mariners Sweep Oakland

Sunday afternoon the Mariners and

the A's played to a good crowd of over

41,000. The Mariners won 6-4.

Logan Gilbert pitched outstanding

in the Mariners final game of the

season giving up only one hit

and no runs leaving with two outs

in the sixth inning. Logan ended

up pitching more innings than any

pitcher in the majors in the season.

The score was zero to zero until 

the 4th inning when Justin Turner

drove in two runs. They scored 

the remaining four runs in the fifth.

Victor Robles hit a double to score

JP Crawford then Julio hit single

scoring Robles. Cal Raleigh hit a

two run homer. It gave Cal 100

RBIs on the season and the first 

by a Mariners catcher. He and

Robles had to be the main two

best players on the team. Not

hard to figure since most of the

Mariners offense didn't show.ul

frequently on the season. The

Mariners final record was 85-77.

The A's as they will only called

for a few seasons going forward

scored two runs in the seventh

and ninth innings.

Houston Astros won the division

by three and a half games as the

final gsme against Cleveland was

cancelled by rain. Tuesday the 

Astros begin the playoffs at home

against the Detroit Tigers.

Now we will see how the Mariners

do in making the team better for

2025. We hope a more exciting team.

Monday night the Seahawks are at

Detroit taking on the Lions. We see

how they do and whether they stay

undefeated. 

Saturday Night Loss By Cougars

I figured the Cougars would lose eventually

since their defense is having trouble. Last year they got off to a good start and then

went into a tail spin. We hope not to see

that this year.

Though they are not in the Pac-12 per say

the opposition of the Mountain West is

good.

Final Boise State 45 Washington State 24

John Mateer had another fine game

so he is going down as another fine

passer and quarterback for the Cougars.

Mateer threw for over three hundred yards

and two touchdowns. The Cougars had 

trouble stopping Boise State running

back Ashton Jearity who ran ran for

259 yards and four touchdowns.

The Cougars have a bye week coming

up before facing Fresno State on the

road so be another challenge. As always

Mariners Win Extra Innings

The Seattle Mariners won in their 

161 game 7-6 over the Oakland

A's. 

The Mariners led most of the 

game until the A's scored three

runs in the top of the ninth on

a homer. The Mariners scored

two runs in the bottom of

the ninth when Luke Raley hit

a home run with Julio on base.

In the tenth inning the Mariners

didn't allow the  runner to score

from second. JP Crawford made

it where the runner made it to 

third base. Justin Turner who was

pinch hitting hit a ball to second base.

Leo Rivas who pinch running was

able yo score to win the game. 

Emerson Hancock started this game

went five innings  and giving up

three runs.  Logan Gilbert expected

to start the final game on Sunday.

How long he goes is anyone's guess.

First Look Washington Huskies Men's Basketball 2024-25 Season

This coming season for Washington 

Huskies men's basketball team will 

have changes going into the Big Ten.

You have followed the Huskies for a while 

you know they have a new head coach.

Mike Hopkins is no longer pstroling the

side lines. What is similar the Huskies 

will have a new group of players. Since 

the transfer portal Mike Hopkins took

advantage of it every year though the

team wasn't able to make the NCAA 

tournament since his second season.

The Huskies new head coach is Danny

Sprinkle who comes over from Utah

State. There he had some success 

in the NCAA tournament. Danny has

some connection to Washington before

coming here and we will get into that

at another time. 

The Huskies have only two players

who return with much playing as a

Husky and both of them are ones

who transfered over to Washington.

Franck Kepnang who transfered

over from Oregon who was expected

to get solid playing time however he

spent two years primarily out with 

injuries and Wilhelm Breidenbach 

who came from Nebraska.  Injuries 

to Kepnang forced Breidenbach to

play more center than expected. He

was supposed to backup more at

power forward. We could see him

do that this coming season however

at this point we don't know. Christian

King the son of former Seattle Super

Sonic Rich King will be a redshirt 

freshman. He is the only touted

freshman who came to Washington

to return.

Two of the top names who transfered 

over are both seniors with experience

Great Odobor who played for Sprinkle

at Utah State and DJ Davis from 

Butler. Odobor expected to play forward

and Davis at guard. He started every

game last year for Butler and averaged

in double figured. Butler hss been

one of the best midmajor schools to

have success.

The Huskies will start their non league

schedule on October 29 against Western

Oregon. They will have seven more 

in November. They will start their Big

Ten schedule against UCLA and USC 

on December 3 and 7th. They have

four more non-league games in

December against state rivals Eastern

Washington on December 10, then

the Cougars on the 18 and Seattle

University on the 23. All are at home.

The Big Ten picks up again on January

2 against Maryland at home. They

play 20 games in all in the Big Ten.

UCLA, USC and Oregon are the only

ones they play twice. Go Dawgs. 

Huskies Lose A Close One

It isn't easy to win on the road

however they had their opportunities.

Final Rutgers 21 Huskies 18

Rutgers led 14-3 in the first half.

The Huskies had an opportunity

to score a touchdown in the second

quarter. They had third down and three

to score. Rogers over through the

Husky receiver. My thought there 

should have been a pass interference.

The Huskies went on fourth down 

but overthrew the receiver. At the

time it made since to go for it however

a field goal would have ended in a tie

and go for it overtime. They missed 

another field goal before the final 

shot at the end. Yes the Huskies

tried a field that missed at the end 

of regulation.

Before that and the second touchdown

the Huskies blocked a field goal. A penalty 

was charged against a Huskies defender.

Shortly after was the touchdown. 

Besides the penalties on the Huskies 

they made only two of 15 third downs.

That says a lot.  It comes down to

the fact they could have won the

game so the offense has room for

improvement..

In baseball the Mariners just won

beating Oakland 2-0 in the opening 

of the last series of the season. 

Mitch Garver catching hit a home

run and later Cal had one as dh.

Since the last two games don't

have any meaning Mitch should

catch both. Cal having 97 RBIs

he could dh both games if necessary

to.reach 100 RBIs.

Preview Seahawks at Detroit Lions

The Seattle  Seahawks  play this Monday Night 

at Detroit  against the Lions. The Seahawks 

are 3-0  while  the  Lions are 2-1. 

The Seahawks  have  a pretty  good record on

Monday  Night  Football at 31-12. So the odds 

are in their favor though they are playing  on

the road.  The Seahawks  are  on top of the

NFc West division with the 3-0 record while

the other three teams in the division are 1-2.

The Lions are 20-23-1 on Monday night football.

The last time they played they lost to the Green 

Packers in 2021. The Seahawks  are 13-5 against 

the Lions. This is a different team than who the

Seahawks  have played before. Last season the

Lions made the playoffs  for the first time since

2016 and losing to the SF 49ers in the conference 

championship. 

The Lions two wins were again Seahawks  division 

foes the Los Angeles  Rams and Arizona Cardinals. 

The Rams game they won in overtime while Cardinals

they won 20-13  last Sunday. Much like th Seahawks 

they have won for the defense than the offense. The

Lions are going to be with out two key players on their

defense.  Defensive  end Marcus Davenport is going

to be out the  rest of  the  season  and linebacker Derrick 

Barnes will be out for some time. 

Both the Seahawks  and  Lions have both struggled on

the offensive side of the ball so far the question  is  will 

one of the teams do better this Monday. Besides having

a good record  on  Monday Night Football  the Seahawks 

have been entertaining as well.  With offensive coordinator 

Ryan Grubb  in charge we could see some more entertainment 

out of the Seahawks.  Let's  hope we do and the Seahawks  

go 4-0. 

Mariners Win and Take Series

I guess this is a small thing in a large

picture. The Astros won the division

title on Tuesday beating the Mariners

then Wednesday afternoon the M'S

won the series. I am sure most

Mariners would have preferred the

other away around.

The Mariners won 8-1 on Wednesday

so they still have a chance to make

the playoffs. Last year the Mariners

missed the playoffs by one game

and it may be as close this time

around too.

Scott Servais lost the job as manager

because the Mariners hitters had

trouble hitting the ball and like last

season came fow to striking out

way to much..This year things turned

around with the hiring of Dan Wilson

who brought his buddy and former

teammate Edgar Martinez back to

be hitting coach. He hss done a

good job at that. I figured the M's

would have to win 85 games and

the Astros would have to do the

same or less. The Astros spoiled

it. Now those who are still going

for the wildcard hss to do less as well.

This is sad since the Mariners had

the best pitching staff in the majors

and all the hitters had to do was a

little bit better over the course of

the season.  The Mariners have the 

talent at pitching to do so again

next season or at  least close to it

however it doesn't happen often. 

The Mariners won this game with

much of their starting lineup not

playing and making five errors on

the day. Former Mariners starter

Kikuchi went six innings  giving

up four hits and two runs which

neither was earned. In fact only

three tuns of the Mariners were

earned which means Seattle probably

would have won the game anyway.

The highlight of the game for the

Mariners offense was Julio had his 

20th home run of the season in

the 9th inning with a runner on base.

Pitching George Kirby had another

good outing going six innings giving

up the one run in the third. Like all

the Mariners starters he had to deal

with little support until he left. The

Mariners went rest of the way where

the bullpen didn't give up a hit. None

of high leverage guys pitched except

for Collin Snider who may have moved

back with George Santos being added

back onto the roster.  With three

games remaining against the A's 

those guys all may have to pitch.

Don't know yet the order of pitching

in the final three games against

Oakland but Luis Castillo, Bryan 

Woo and Bryce Miller will start.

Preview Washington State at Boise State

Washington State Cougars this Saturday

Night will play Boise State. The Cougars

are now playing against Mountain West

schools. It does look as though they will

join the new Pac-12. Both schools are

close to the same size as far as schools

go. 

Boise State has become a better football

team in recent years. The Cougars do

lead in the series 5-1. The last time they

met was 2017 in Pullman where the

Cougars won in three overtimes.  I 

wouldn't be surprised if it went this

way again. The  Cougars  had to take

two overtimes to beat San Jose State

last week. A few times it looked like

Cougars would lose the game. In fact

the Cougars had to kick a field goal

at the end to go into overtime.

Both these teams have pretty good

offenses so could go down to the

last play to win. Boise State has one

loss which was on September 7th 

when Oregon beat them 37-34 in

Eugene. Boise State scored 56 points

in their two games. 

This game might come down to who 

has the best game or turnovers. I am

not sure everyone knows how good

the Cougars are though they have

four wins and no losses. This is

certainly the year for the Cougars

to play well with all that has gone

off the field in regards to the school.

The Cougars men's basketball had a

very good team last year. They lost

their coach to Stanford after the season

well as several players. The Cougars

will play in WCC this coming season.

The Cougars basketball schedule

recently came out just like the Huskies

who have a new coach too.  The season

is around the bend as they both start 

in November just like Gonzaga. We let you

know what big games they play as well

as key players. 

Mariners Lose Astros Win Division

The Mariners lost Tuesday night 4-3.

It was tough having opportunities

and losing in the end. The Mariners 

have a losing record in one run games

and a major reason they didn't win

the division after having a large lead

earlier in the season. The Astros now

have won the division seven out of the 

last eight years.

This is a disappointment since the 

Mariners pitching has been the best

in the majors and the hitting has been

at the bottom. The Mariners have four

games left. They may still make the

playoffs as a wildcard however winning

the remaining four games is almost a

must. 

Regardless what happens this might 

be the second straight season in

which they miss out by a game or

more. I am sure Dipoto knows they

have to get more hitting. We hope 

the ownership will allow them too.

The question now will the Mariners

trade one of the five starters to get

a hitter. At least the Mariners have

done better since Dan Wilson and

Edgar Martinez came aboard. Wilson

is expected back however we don't

know about Edgar. Even if Edgar

doesn't return as hitting coach we

shouldn't be surprised if he is with

the team in spring training and maybe

when the team is at home. 

The Mariners do trade one of the

starters we could see Emerson

Hancock as the fifth starter. The

Mariners could trade him as well. 

The bullpen we hope will be better 

next season. We hope for a healthy

George Santos from the beginning

of the season. Even if he isn't ready

early we will see Matt Brash at some

point. Since the season isn't over yet

we will look at the position players

when the season is over. Go Mariners!

Preview Washington Huskies At Rutgers

The Washington  Huskies  take on Rutgers

this Friday night on the road. Rutgers are

3-0 while the Huskies are 3-1 with lone

loss against  the  Cougars.

Rutgers  is  favored by 2.5 points. So have

to say it is about a toss up. I  believe Huskies 

can do better offensively a day now they

beat Northwestern  last Saturday  means

they took care of the  first game being in

the Big Ten.

It is important  for the Huskies  offense

to take another step.  The next game will 

be at home on October 5 against Michigan. 

The Huskies defense will need to  improve 

on defense  as well especially  against the

run. Michigan's  main game is the run so

it is important to take care of Rutgers running 

game.

Rutgers  beat Virginia  Tech on the road last

week 26-23. Thoough Rutgers threw the ball

a lot their three touchdowns were on the ground.

So it will be important  for  the  Huskies secondary 

to do  a good  job. Rutgers did give up yardage

to Virginia on the ground so the Huskies  should

start with running the ball.

This should be another interesting  game. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Take Game One Against Astros

Monday  night the Mariners were able

to win the opening of the season over

the Astros. This means they are still

in the running for the playoffs.

Bryce Miller pitched s fantastic game

going seven innings giving up two

hits and no runs. The seventh inning

was the toughest for him however

he was able to get out of it.

Final Mariners 6 Astros 1

The game was closer than the score

shows. The Mariners scored in the third

when Cal hit a single scoring Victor

Robles.  It stayed that way until Julio

hit a single with the bases loaded and

two outs. It looked like the Mariners

were going two runs however Dylan

Moore was thrown out at third before

Crawford was able to cross the plate.

I suppose Dylan didn't think the

Astros would throw to third. Fortunately

the Astros were not take advantage of it.

The Mariners were able to score two

runs each in the eighth and ninth

innings which was a good thing. 

Julio continued his hot hitting 

with three hits and driving in two

runs. The Mariners had no home 

runs but four doubles. 

We see whether the Mariners will

do the same Tuesday and Wednesday

as well. We hope to see a lot of the same.

Seahawks Win Easy

The Seattle Seahawks are now 3-0

after beating the Miami Dolphins

24-3.

The Dolphins were shorthanded

as their number two quarterback

was hurt so had to go to number

three. 

The Seahawks scored 17 points in

the first quarter. They were shutout

in the second and third quarters.

The fourth quarter the Dolphins had

a nice drive however the Seahawks

were able to stop them on 4th and

goal at 10:22 mark. Had the Dolphins

been able to school may have been

a different game.

The Seahawks were able to go down

the field after the stop. Zach Charbonnet

scored a ten yard run. It was his second

TD of the afternoon. Zach carried the

ball  18 times for 91 yards and two

touchdowns. DK Metcalf had four

catches for 104 yards and a TD.

The Seahawks will play next Monday

Night at Detroit against the Lions.

The Seahawks a great team on 

Monday Night football should give

us a good time. We will review the

game this week as well as the

Cougars and Huskies. We wish

all three well. 

Mariners Lose Sunday

The Mariners lost a  critical game.

The Astros lost which means the

Mariners could have gained a gsme.

The Mariners led 5-0 the Rangers came

back to win 6-5. That will happen 

during the season however can't let

it happen late in September.

The Mariners scored a run in the second

and their innings. It included Cal Raleigh

31st home run of the season. Things 

looked good in the top of the six inning

scoring three runs. Unfortunately the

Rangers scored four in the bottom of the

sixth coming within one run. The Rangers

tied in the seventh and the walk off in

the bottom of the ninth.

The Mariners have six games remaining

with the next three against the Astros.

The  Mariners really need to win  all

three against the Astros to make the

wildcard at least. 

The Seahawks are winning in the third

quarter and the Dolphins are playing 

their third quarterback of the day. 

Tell you how it goes next time. 

Huskies Win Mariner Win

Saturday both the Huskies and

Mariners played at the same time.

Both teams won as well.

The Huskies won at home while

the Mariners won on the road.

Huskies played their first game

as a member of the Big Ten while

the Mariners are in a must win

situation if they want to make the

playoffs. Both teams they played

are not as good as they are.

The Huskies won beating Northwestern

at Husky Stadium 24-5. Northwestern

didn't have their star running back.

Would have they won if he had played.

Maybe not but might have been a closer

game.  The Huskies ran for 144 yards

which was more than Northwestern total

offense which was 112 yards. 

Denzel Boston who looks to be the

Huskies number one receiver had

two touchdowns on the day.  Jonah

Coleman had the third touchdown 

on the day for eight yard carry in the

4th quarter and the only points scored

in the second half by the Huskies..

This is something they will need to

do better going forward.

The Huskies defense did a fine job

giving up only a field goal.  The

defense has done  a good job 

against the run which has been

trouble over the last few years.

We have to see whether that continues

as the Huskies will play better teams.

The Huskies will be playing Rutgers

next Friday night in New Jersey. The

Huskies usually don't play this far

away from home do we will have

to see what happens. At least the

Huskies were able to rebound after

their loss to the Cougars in the Apple

Cup last week.

The Mariners best the Rangers for the

second time on this road trip  8-4. 

The game was closer this the score indicates. Julio hit a home run to lead

off the game and Jorge Polanco singles 

in Arozarena to make it 2-0. In the

third inning the Rangers tied it with a 

two-run homer from shortstop Josh Smith.

Julio had another hit in the game driving

in Dylan. The first of three runs in the

sixth inning. The Rangers came back

with two of their own. That is where it

sat until the top of the ninth where they

scored three more runs. Victor Robles

who didn't start pinch run for Polanco

ended up stealing third base came home

on a wild pitch. Julio was involved again

this time hitting a hard ball scoring JP 

Crawford and Dylan Moore.

Emerson Hancock started the game

for the Mariners going five innings

and giving  up two runs. The Mariners

used five relievers the rest of the way.

Sunday the Mariners will see if they

can sweep the Rangers then onto 

Houston for three. We hope this

wasn't too late for the playoffs.

Cougars Win Wild Game

The Cougars won however it was in

doubt most of the time. The game 

ended very late Friday night.

The Cougars are now 4-0. The final

score WSU 54 San Jose State 52

The game didn't have much defense

though some stops were made.

The Cougars were down by two

touchdowns going into.the fourth

quarter. They outscored SJSU  22-8

in the fourth quarterback. The

Cougars tied it with no time left

on a 52 yard field goal. 

Neither team scored in the first

overtime. The Cougars scored a

touchdown in the second overtime.

They decided to go for a two point

conversion.and made it. Replay had

to be shown to be sure. SJSU scoreda touchdown on their turn in the second

overtime however couldn't convert

the two point conversion.

We will wonder how many more games

the Cougars will play like this one.

Playing against mkutsin west schools

who some have pretty good offenses

we may several. 

Cougars quarterback John Mateer 

threw for 390 yards and four touchdowns.

He had a couple interceptions too

Mateer was busy. He led the Cougars

In.rushing with 111 yards on 18 carries.

He rushed for a touchdown too.

The Cougars will play Boise State on

the road next Saturday night. Depending

how college football conferenced will

over the years ahead this could become

a rivalry as well. 

Next week we will preview the game 

coming up. It should be an exciting

game. Will the Cougars defense improve

or will all the games be a lot like this one.

Tomorrow the Mariners will play the

Rangers again. Also the Huskies will

play Northwestern in Seattle. 

Julio and Mariners Win

Mariners took the first step in winning

the first of the last nine games left

in the season. We see if this will be

a good ending.

Final Mariners 8 Rangers 2

Player of the game was easy in

Julio Rodriguez who had two home

runs with runners on base. His first

home run was in the fifth inning

with two runners on base. Put the 

Mariners up 4-2. In the seventh Julio

hit a two-run homer putting them up

6-2. The Mariners scored their final

two runs in the 8th inning. Josh Rojas

and Victor Robles back in the lineup

each had sacrifice flies. 

George Kirby pitched six innings

giving up the two runs the Rangers

had. Trent Thornton pitched the

seventh and was able to get out

of trouble. Having a large lead let

other relievers have the night off.

Next time up the Cougars and San Jose 

State. A close game right now. 

Mariners Take On the Rangers

The Seattle Mariners  have  nine games remaining 

In the regular season  beginning Friday  night. 

They take on the Texas Rangers  in a three game 

series. This will be followed by three against the

Astros in Houston. 

The Astros  have a five game lead on the

Mariners  so the wildcard would  be  really 

the only way to  get into the playoffs. 

Having nine games remaining  the Mariners 

need to win most if not all the games. The 

Mariners  are 6-4 in the last ten games. They

would need to go at least 6-3 in the last nine

to make the playoffs.  The bats need to come

alive again and they need to stop making 

running  mistakes like they did against the

Yankees.  They should have  won at least

two games instead of one against the Yankees. 

The Huskies  should win against Northwestern 

in the opening game of the Big Ten schedule.

The loss against the Cougars  will  have  an

idea whether can bounce back  and what kind

of team they are. 

The  Cougars who are 3-0 take on San Diego 

State on Friday Night.  Here we go to see how

they do after an emotional win the Apple Cup. 

The Cougars are showing that they  are serious 

team and played like they are still  on the level 

of the Pac-12.  They play like they did against

the Huskies  we should see win number four.

The Seahawks  play Miami  Dolphins on Sunday 

at home. The Dolphins will be playing shorthanded

however the Seahawks  will need to play well to

get their third win. The Seahawks need to improve 

offensively  especially  on the ground with Ken

Walker is likely  not to play again.  The offensive 

line will need to open up some holes for the

running game to success. This will  help  the 

passing game as well.

We hope for a successful weekend  in  regards

to all four teams. 

Mariners Take Third Game

Fortunately the Mariners beat the

New York Yankees 3-2 Thursday 

afternoon. 

The Mariners scored their three 

runs in the first inning. Later the

Yankees scored on  a two run homer

off of Logan Gilbert who went five 

and one-thirds innings. The bullpen

did a great job not giving up a hit.

They were the MVP.

The Mariners made some running

errors or they could have had at

least another run. It didn't faze

the pitchers. 

Now the Mariners will take on the

Rangers in Texas beginning Friday.

Mariners Lose Again Wednesday Night

It is amazing  how the Mariners  can lose

in different  ways  or have bad luck anyway 

Final Yankees  2 Mariners  1

The Mariners  starting  pitching  continues 

to do well most of the time without assistance 

from the offense. Tuesday's game by Bryan 

Woo has been rare.

Bryce Miller  pitched an outstanding game. 

The Yankees  had only only three hits and

again the Mariners  offense couldn't find 

a way to score at least three runs. The

Mariners  average has gone up a bit lately 

though at .221 for the season and the worst

in the majors.

The Yankees scored a run in the top of the

10th on a double. Collin Snyder was able

to get the rest  of  the  Yankees  out. The 

bottom  of the 10th  Cal Raleigh  hit  a single

moving Julio to third. It looked like the

Mariners had a great shot at least tying the

game. Randy Arozarena  swing at a pitch

which almost nailed as Julio got out of the

way. The trouble was it isn't  a foul ball and

Julio walked away like it was. When he realized 

his mistake it was too late and he was picked

off. The Mariners weren't  able to get Cal into

scoring position  and there goes the game.

Things like this shouldn't happen at this time 

of the year. Yes Julio  made a bad mistake 

and you know he won't  do it again.  The 

Mariners  should have won the game anyway.

Had the Mariners  been the team they should 

have been Scott Servais would still be the

manager and it does take time for Dan Wilson 

help turn it around.  They  need players that

work together at the position players.  Let's 

see what Dipoto  and  Hollander do since this

season  is over unless they can win the remaining

games. 

Preview Miami Dolphins at Seahawks

The Seahawks go into this Sunday

with a 2-0 record. The Seahawks 

always seem to start off with a slow 

start with the offense. We how they

start something this week against

the Dolphins.

The Dolphins won't have their starting

quarterback this week Tua Tagovailoa

is on the injured list. The Seahawks

defense has gotten off to a decent

start and should get better each week

with the new defense they are playing.

The Dolphins are 1-1. Miami beat

Jacksonville the first game 20-17. 

The lost on Thursday night football

to a good Buffalo Bills 31-10. This means they have extra time to get ready for the

Seahawks. The game will be in Seattle

so it will be still tough on the Dolphins.

Having Tua not playing.will give the

Dolphins to prove themselves.

The Dolphins actually a better job

running and throwing the ball although

they gave up three interceptions. We

hope the Seahawks can raddle the

Dolphins quarterback. The Dolphins

didn't score any points against the

Bills in the second half. 

The Dolphins could be vulnerable

against the run. Ken Walker looks 

like he will miss this game to.

The Seahawks offensive line needs

to do a better job. Using two tight

ends at times will help as well.

Preview San Jose State at Washington State

Both San Jose State and the Washington  State  Cougars 

are undefeated  heading into Friday night matchup. This

will be the Cougars first matchup of the season against

a mountain west team.  Coming off an emotional win

against  Washington  how will the Cougars  respond. 

It is possible  they could  have a little  let down though

they are playing  at home.

The mountain  west do play  a good brand of football 

though they are considered  the next tier down  from 

the former Pac-12.  We did hear last week  that the

Pac-12  is  expected to add four teams from the 

Mountain  West  in 2026. The Pac-12 will need to

add at least two more teams in 2026. 

Right now the Cougars are playing  a  good brand

of football like the former Pac-12. The question  

though can they continue  recruiting players that

would have played  in  the former Pac-12. Some

of who they added before may go to schools like

Washington  or other Big Ten schools. With the

change of college football  right now it is hard to 

tell.

Besides adding the  four teams playing now in the

Mountain  West  the Pac-12 will need to add schools 

that are considered  major schools.  Will they see

Stanford and California returning after going to the

ACC.  To be able to recruit Pac-12 type of players 

they will need to do so. It doesn't  take away the 

Mountain West play good football. Most of those

teams have some players who could play at a major

University however not enough. We do hope the

Cougars program continues  to  flourish  after the

current players move on. 

At least this week we should see another exciting 

game between San Jose State and WSU  Cougars.

Last year the Cougars didn't  play as well  after

getting off to a good start.  We hope there is a

change. Go Cougs!

Woo Bombed By Yankees

Bryan Woo certainly could do.to

the Yankees as he did in his previous.

Woo proved he is human after all.

An important game for the Mariners

it was for the Yankees as well. They

will make the playoffs, however where

they are seated is another story yet

The Mariners need to win nine of the

remaining eleven games to have the 

best shot. They have played well recently.

How they played against the Angels

and the Tigers was much of their

downfall.

Woo went only four and two-third

innings giving up seven runs including

two home runs. Juan Soto had the

first home run. Aaron Judge didn't

have a home run however he  drove in

a team high four runs in a 11-2 win

over the Mariners. It is amazing to

think a season where hitting is at

a record low Judge is batting .323

and he is a power hitter. The hall of

fame will come up some day for him.

The biggest blunder of the game

for the Mariners was in the first inning

withe bases loaded with two outs and

Victor Robles was caught trying to

steal home. It was his first time

caught stealing on the season with

the Mariners. Had he been able to be

safe might have changed the whole

game. The Mariners haven't done

well with bases loaded most of the 

season. Having a key hit here may 

have changed things to. We will

never know.

Bryce Miller goes Wednesday night

for the Mariners. It is the most

important game of the season at

this point. For the Mariners to make

playoffs they need to win all or

majority eleven remaining games.

Preview Northwestern at Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies  are  at home this 

Saturday  taking on Northwestern  in their

first opponent ever in the Big Ten. 

Last week  the Huskies were upset by

their state rival Washington State Cougars 

24-19. In a rival game  like the Apple Cup

is there really  an upset  at anytime. The

Cougars  did show they still got it even

though they are not playing  in a major 

conference  this year.

The Huskies  on the other hand  have

a new head coach and many new players 

learning to play together  especially on

the offense.  None of the players started

last year for the Huskies. Now we have

to see whether  learned anything  being 

defeated by the Cougars. They did show

they need to execute better on offense

especially  late in the game.

Northwestern  beat Eastern  Illinois in

a non-conference last Saturday 31-7.

They showed have some  offense to

go against  the  Huskies. Just like

Washington  they have a 2-1  record

heading into conference  play. 

Northwestern had an overall record

last year of 8-5 and 5-4 in the Big Ten

Conference.  They are being led by

quarterback  Jack Lauch this year

as a redshirt sophomore.  They have

a couple transfers on the offensive 

line.  Cam Porter returns as Northwestern 

starting running back.

On defense  they have four defensive lineman,

two linebackers and five defensive backs.

We will have to see if Huskies quarterback 

Will Rogers  can execute  better  this week 

against Northwestern. After a loss especially 

a rival it is always  interesting to see how

things go. We wish the Huskies the best 

and a turn around in this game. Go Dawgs!

Mariners Take Care of Rangers

Though the Seattle Mariners didn't win

the opening game of this series on

Thursday they took the remaining

three games. Mondsy will be a day

off for the Mariners before facing the

Yankees Tuesday thru Thursday. 

Next weekend the Mariners face

the Rangers again this time on the

road followed by the Astros. On 

September 27 they begin the last

three games of the season at home. 

The question can the Mariners win

at least nine of the last 12 games

which would give the Mariners 86

wins and get them into the playoffs.

Sunday Mariner 7 Rangers 0

Yes the Mariners shutout the Rangers

to take three out of four. George Kirby

who has struggled lately came back

to his old self. He went seven innings

giving up only one hit, no walks and

struck out three. The bullpen of Thornton

and Bazardo didn't give up a hit or walk

over two innings though struck out three. 

Bryan Woo will start Tuesday against

the Yankees followed by Miller and Gilbert.

Depending how things are at that point

the Mariners can go with Kirby on Friday.

Castillo maybe available in the series

against the Astros in Houston.

The Mariners got three runs in the

first inning when catcher Mitch Garver

hit a home run with two.outs and two. runners on base. The sixth inning Victor Robles singled to drive in a run. Randy

Arozarena hit a home run in the 7th. 

In the 8th the Mariners had their last 

two runs score both on sacrifice flies by

Julio and Justin Turner. The Mariners 

have had a bad season with sacrifice

flies however this series they had 

several.  Keep up the good work.

Seahawks Win In Overtime

The Seahawks did well in  overtime

which isn't easy on the road and

winning the coin top.

Seahawks 23 Patriots 20

The Seahawks did struggle for some

of the game but if when it counted.

Late in the fourth quarter the Patriots

were going for the win trying to kick

a field goal however the Seahawks

blocked the field goal. The Seahawks

tried to win regulation but were stopped

by New England so had to settle for a field goal..

The Seahawks were able to stop the

Patriots with first try in overtime. 

Getting the ball they were able to march

down by passing and running the ball.

When they got down to about the 21

yard line decided to kick the field goal.

The Seahawks now are now 2-0. 

The Seahawks led 17-13 at halftime.

Neither team scored in the third quarter.

The Patriots scored a touchdown to take

the lead in the fourth quarter before the

Seahawks tied it.

Geno Smith did complete 33 of 44 for

327 yards and a touchdown. Zach 

Charbonnet led in  rushing with 14

carries for 38 yards and one tf. Ken

Walker 3 didn't play. DK Metcalf kept

busy having ten catches for 129 yards

and a touchdown.

The Seahawks will be back home next

Sunday taking on the Miami Dolphins.

Arozarena Hits Walk Off

When you need another must win 

I am not sure if I like this kind however

they did win in an exciting game on

Saturday night. 

The Mariners scored first on a sacrifice 

flyin the second inning by Josh Rojas.

The trouble was the Rangers took.the

lead temporarily with a  two run homer.

in the third inning.Julio who has been hot 

tied in the bottom of the inning.

In the fifth inning the Rangers hit another

two run homer however Luke Raley tied

it in the bottom with one of his own. He

had his 20th of the season. The first time 

in his career. The game was blank until

the bottom of the 9th. The Mariners were 

able to load the bases with Arozarena

coming to the plate. We hoping not for

a double play. Arozarena hit a sharp one

off the shortstop which went into left field

for the win. This was not only important

win however the Mariners haven't had

many of these types of wins on the season.

George Kirby who has been struggling for

over a month goes for the Mariners Sunday.

The team needs a good performance from

him well as the offense. 

The Seahawks play the Patriots first

on Sunday. Can like positive energy

for sure. 

Cougars Take Care Of Huskies

Washington State Cougars beat the

the Washington Huskies 24-19 at

Lumen Field in Seattle on Saturday

afternoon.

The Cougars beat Washington though

the Huskies had opportunity especially 

in the 4th quarter. The Huskies had

an interception where the didn't do 

anything with and had to the ball back.

The Cougars made a good stop where

the Huskies could have made a first

down or touchdown.  

The Cougars showed their offense and

defense in this one. Whether the Cougars

are better over the course of the season or not they were on this day. 

The Cougars coaching staff seemed

to do better or they had the emotions

for sure. That is what happens in rival

games.Not sure how the Huskies will

do in the Big Ten the Cougars showed

they haven't slowed down and belong

in major college football for now anyway.

The Pac-12 looks to go to six teams at

least in 2026 with four teams from the

Mountain West. How the Cougars have to

do we will have to see. The Cougars will

play San Jose State next Friday. The 

Huskies on the other hand take on

Northwestern in Husky Stadium. 

When it came to stats the Huskies beat

the Cougars in total yards and passing. 

Didn't help since the final score is the

most important stat. You wonder had

the Huskies used Demon Williams Jr.

instead of Rogers they have one. 

The rest of the season should be 

interesting for both teams. We will 

see what happens. 

Julio Overcomes Deficit For Mariners Win

For the Mariners to make the playoffs

they have to win the majority of their

games. The Astros have them a chance

to get closer the Mariners have lost

critical games.

Though the starting pitching for the

most part has been good. Luis Castillo

is out on the injured list so Friday night

Night was critical again with Emerson

Hancock on the mound. He was able to

go five innings however gave up three

run. 

The bullpen hss gone through tough times

with injuries. Thorton pitched a good sixth

inning, however, Austin Voth walked a

couple in the seventh which isn't good.

Tayler Saucedo came in with two outs 

and gave up a hit which the run went to

Voth.  JT Chargois struck out three 

Rangers in the eighth and Munoz took

care of the ninth.

The Mariners were down 4-0 heading 

into the bottom of the seventh. Things

didn't look good for sure. Cal Raleigh hit 

a sacrifice fly scoring Victor Robles for

the first run. Something the Mariners

have had on the season. Most of the 

time hitter strikes out and the batter

after hits a fly ball for third out. Randy Arozarena hits a single to score Julio.

In the ninth inning Julio was able to  bat

again. With JP Crawford and Josh Rojas

on base with two outs Julio hit a three-run

homer to give them the game. Julio

had four hits on the day.

Scherzer goes for the Rangers Saturday

night against Logan Gilbert. Not only

will have to pitch like he has all season

the offense has to come alive again 

which they have had trouble doing most

of the season when Logan is on the mound.

The Mariners are still four and a half

behind the Astros. The wildcard they

are three and a half. They can't afford

really any losses to the Rangers in

these two games as the Yankees come

to town.  Go team.

Mariners Drop Critical Game

The Seattle Mariners lost to the

Texas Rangers 5-4 Thursday night

in the first game of the series.

It is important to win the first game

of a series especially in crunch time.

We have seen where the Mariners

hitting has weaknesses through

the season. This was more decision

making in my thinking and mental

errors. The Mariners will need to

make accessments during the offseason.

The Mariners tied in the game in the

fourth inning with a run then took the lead 

in the fifth with three more runs. First 

thing they couldn't add more runs.

The Mariners took Bryce Miller out

after the sixth inning at 84 pitches.

Troy Taylor gave up a home run however

the trouble came in the 8th when a

couple miscues allowed the Rangers

to score three runs with only one earned.

The difference in the game.

Although I thought that Miller should

have at least started the seventh it

was the eighth that cost them the 

game. Decisions and  mental mistakes

can't cost games like this one. The

Astros won as well so lost a game back once again.

Accessments need to be made after 

the season. There is something wrong besides the pitching. We hope a turn

around happens. Go M's.

Mariners Win Important Game

The Seattle Mariners best the San Diego

Padres Wednesday Night 5-2

Pitcher of the game no question he was pitching a perfect game into the seventh inning. He lost the perfect inning and 

shutout when Fernando Tatis hit his home run in the series. Salute to Woo the Mariners best pitcher of the year.

Hitters of the game Cal Raleigh hits a

single driving in Josh Rojas from third

base  to have first score in the third.

Luke Raley had a single to right field

to score two like Raleigh.  In the sixth

inning  JP Crawford hit a double scoring

the Mariners two runs of the game. 

Now the Mariners start a four game 

series against the Texas Rangers. It

would be great if the Mariners swept

the series. Though the Mariners could

lose one game.  Bryce Miller will start

the first game against the Rangers.

We hope to see exciting baseball

going  the  rest of the season. Go M's. 

Preview Seahawks at New England Patriots

The Seahawks will taking on the

New England Patriots on Sunday

morning Seattle time.

The Seahawks beat Denver at home

last Sunday. The SF 49ers beat the

NY Jets on Monday night football.

The Rams and Cardinals both lost

so the Seahawks and 49ers at the

top of the NFC West Division.

The Seahawks got to slow start which

they are well know for at the beginning

of the season. The first half they tried to

pass more frequently and didn't have

much success. The second half they

ran with success and why the win.

This week I would suggest mixing up the

run and pass. They could go with a few 

short passes as well before throwing

a long run. I am sure OC Ryan Grubb has

it in hand.

The New England Patriots beat the Cincinnati Bengals last week 16-10.

Neither team had great overall in

in yardage. The Patriots had their

success running the ball. Rhamondre

Stevenson carried the ball 25 times

for 120 yards and the  only touchdown.

Neither team had very good success

having a low rate under .500 on third

downs. This will be something Seahawks

defense will try this week. Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose Tuesday Night

The Mariners  lost Tuesday  night to the

San Diego  Padres 7-3 in the first of two 

games at home before the Rangers come

to town.

The trouble  is  the  Mariners  can't  afford 

too many  more losses to make the playoffs. 

I figured when the Mariners  went into the

Dodgers series before Servais  was fired

they really  needed to win 85 games at least.

With  17 games remaining  that makes 12-5.

The way the Mariners have played all season 

they would have to play their best games all

year. What is the chance of that. Other teams

could falter but not likely. 

George  Kirby went only five innings giving  up 

five runs. In September and August so far he

has gone six innings only  twice.  The Kirby 

we are not used seeing. The big blow was 

giving up a three run homer to Fernando Tatis 

Jr. in the 3rd inning after being  ahead 2-0.

The Padres added two more runs in the sixth

and seventh innings. The Mariners  got Justin 

Turner on base in the bottom  of the seventh 

then a ball dropped into right field. JP Crawford 

hit a ball down the third base line scoring Turner. 

The Mariners  ended up loading the bases. Julio

came up with one out and he could do anything 

besides hitting  into a double play  which he ended

up doing. The Mariners  did get a runner or more in

the eighth and ninth but couldn't  get anyone home.

Preview of the Apple Cup

The Huskies and Cougars are playing

Saturday afternoon at Lumen Field

in Seattle. 

This will be new for us all as the Huskies

play this year now in the Big Ten. The

Cougars will play against the Mountain

West conference. 

Both teams have played two non conference foes and one fairly 

easily. The Apple Cup will show

how good these teams are and

how the season goes.

Last year the Huskies beat the

Cougars in the Apple Cup before

going onto playing Michigan

in the National Championship.

They lost the game and after

Coach DeBoer left for Alabama.

The Huskies not only have a new

coach and staff they have a  lot

of turnover in players too. The

offense starting lineup led by

transfer quarterback Will Rogers.

The defense looks improved with

a mixture of old and new. So far

they look improved against the

run. They have a talented group

of secondary players.

The Cougars though no longer

playing a Pac-12 schedule besides

Oregon State don't have a big turnover

of players. They are now led by

quarterback John Mateer.  So far

they look to be a good offensive

team and an OK defensive one.

The Huskies will be favored however

the Cougars will show what they have

like in most rival games. They will want

to prove that they still belong at the

high level of college football. Also

the motivation is for the future play

in a big conference possibly the Big 12.

The thing is conferences could change

again over the next five years. 

This game will be a centerpiece to show

for both teams. This should be exciting 

game to watch as most Apple Cups have.

Seahawks and Mariners Win

The Seahaw opened the season beating

the Broncos at home 26-20. The Seahawks

were favored by six points.  

The Seahawks got off to a slow start where they passed the ball 13 out of 22 plays  in the first half. At the end of the first quarter the both teams had scored three points.

The Broncos led at halftime 13- 9. Second quarter the Seahawks had two safeties and Geno Smith had a 23 yard touchdown however missed two point conversion. Broncos had two field goals.

The Seahawks had a touchdown where Ken Walker 3 ran for 23 yards. Jason Myers 

had a field goal in the third quarter.

The 4th quarter had a 30 yard touchdown pass. Broncos rookie quarterback Bo Nix 

had a four yard run before the two minute

warning. 

Ken Walker ran for 103 yards on carries.

Tyler Lockett led with six catches. On

defense Julian Love had ten tackles to

lead the Seahawks and an interception.

Both pass and rushing were good. 

Gave up 138 yards passing. The Broncos

didn't have  a passing touchdown a Bo

Nix had two interceptions. They gave up

99 yards on the ground.  Bo led with 

35 yards on.the ground.

The Seattle Mariners beat the St. Louis

10-4. The Mariners scored five runs  in the 

first inning. Julio led off having two hits on

the day. Every starting player had at least

one hit. Josh Rojas the only one without

a hit. Arozarena and Polanco each had a home run. The Mariners have Monday off.

Tuesday and Wednesday play the Padres

at home followed by the Rangers Thursday

thru Sunday. We see how they are after

those two series. 

WSU Cougars Won Again

The Cougars won big 37-16.

They scored much  because 

the Texas Tech offense was 

sluggish turning the ball over

several times and the Cougars

took advantage of the defense

played against them.

Cougars qb John Mateer threw

the ball only 19 times with nine

caught. He had one touchdown

and an interception. He will have

to do better next week to win.

What Mateer did well was run the

ball himself 21 times for 197 yards

and one touchdown. A team record

for quarterback attempts and yardage.

Mateer took advantage of what Texas

Tech defense gave him. Don't expect

this in the Apple Cup next week.

The Cougars running backs were able

to run as well. They had three touchdowns

on the night. 

Texas Tech's quarterback threw the ball

58 times with one touchdown and two 

interceptions. He completed 34 of

the throws. You expect more touchdowns

Two interceptions isn't to bad for that

many throws. Texas Tech will have to

go back to the drawing table.

Next up: Cougars in Seattle against

the Huskies at Lumen Field. Should 

be an exciting game. 

Washington Huskies Win Again

The Washington Huskies beat

Eastern Michigan 30-6. The Huskies have yet giving up a touchdown in two games.

Huskies defense gave up 75 yards

rushing which is a good sign.

Huskies defense gave up only

125 yards in the air. This compared

to 264 yards and four touchdowns

by Washington Qb Will Rogers.

On offense the Huskies hand Jordan 

Coleman had 104 yards on the ground

on 11 carries. No as big as last weeks

game however still impressive.

Each team had a fumble in.the game

but no interceptions.

Cougars are winning tonight.

Will let you know how it went.

Mariners End Winning Streak

The Seattle Mariners had another

one of those disappointing losses

as they have had a lot of in the past

month or even longer.

The game was 0-0 into the bottom 

of the 8th inning. Logan Gilbert who

pitched the whole gave up a walk

and a home run in the bottom of

that inning. Final Cardinals 2 M's 0

The hitters need to do start hitting 

more frequently. They had the bases

loaded in the first inning and were unable

to get a key hit which would have made a

world of difference.

The Mariners now have to win Sunday

to take the series and make sure they

still have any chance to.be in the playoffs.

Another disappointing season with the

best starting pitching in the majors.

Moves will need to made to make 

positive in the hitting. They do have 

some good hitters however holes

too. Keep on trying.

Mariner Win Third In A Row

The Seattle Mariners have won three 

in a row now beating the St. Louis 

Cardinals  6-l in the first game of the

series.

The game was scoreless until the

fifth inning when Randy Arozarena

hit a sacrifice fly to score Victory

Robles. In the sixth inning Dylan

Moore playing second base hit

a two-run homer. The only home 

run the Mariners hit in the game.

In the seventh inning the Cardinals 

scored their only home run of the

game. Cal Raleigh hit a double scoring 

two runs in the ninth inning and Luke

Raley hit a single to score Cal.

Bryce Miller was the Mariners pitcher

of the game going six innings and

not giving up a run. He gave up three

hits and two walks in the game. The

Astros won as well so still have a four 

and a half game lead with 20 games 

remaining. Go Mariners! 

Mariners Win To Split Series

The Seattle Mariners being beat in

the first two games in walk offs.

They won Wednesday night and 

followed by a 6-4 win.  Cal Raleigh 

and Julio Rodriguez each hit a home 

run early to make it a 3-0. 

The Mariners were leading 4-2 late

into the game when Luke Raley hit

a two-run home to make it 6-2. It

was a good thing since Andre Munoz 

gave up a two-run home run in the

bottom of the 9th or it would have been

interesting. Raley said he has been

working with Edgar Martinez. We

hope the others who have been working

with Edgar has success to. 

Bryan Woo pitched five innings giving

up the two runs. The bullpen did a

good job for three innings before

Munoz gave up the home run with 

cushion.

The Mariners have 21 games remaining. 

There best chance would be to win at least 

14 of those games. They could win 19

or 20 to get in however still 21 would be

good number. Go team. 

Preview Denver at Seattle On Sunday

The NFL season begins on Sunday with

the Denver Broncos at Seattle Seahawks.

The Broncos lead the series 35-22. 

Rookie Bo Nix of Oregon is now the

starting quarterback as Russell Wilson 

has moved on to Pittsburgh and we will

see how that goes. Nix is known to throw mostly short to medium passes for the

most part. It will be interesting how head

coach Sean Payton will use him. The

Seahawks will have to watch out for

him when running. So getting him out

of the pocket will be interesting.

The Seahawks right now are six points

favorites. The over/under is at 42.

Both teams will need to show improvement

on the defense. The Seahawks with new

head coach Mike Macdonald will see

some improvement but how much

we will see.

Sean Payton knows how to run a good

offense and the Seahawks have new

offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb whose

last stop was at Washington Huskies.

The Seahawks offense was OK in

preseason however neither of there top

two running backs played. Expect things

to be different in this game. QB Geno

Smith may have a very good season.

Grubb will be working with his strengths.

KennybWalker 3 is expected to play a big

role in the offense both running and 

catching the ball. We don't know yet 

however he and Zach Charbonnet are

supposed to share the load although

the one being the hottest at the time

may get a little bigger chunk. 

The Seahawks receiving core should

all have better seasons. It will be 

interesting to see how many catches

each get. I wouldn't be surprised if

the Seahawks first drive will begin

with establish the run to some degree

but throwing a number of passes too.

I would expect one long pass and we

may see a receiver run the ball. The

same may be the same the Broncos

will do as well. Whoever gets the ball

first may detect how the game goes

although both will begin with their

initial plan of the game.

We will see how both teams do on

the defensive side to. The Seahawks

running a new defense things might

take a few weeks to get things down.

It should be a very interesting game.

Mariners Blast Oakland

The Seattle Mariners finally ended a

four game losing streak beating

the Oakland A's 16-3. It would be nice 

if the Mariners conclude the series

besting the A's Thursday afternoon.

This tied the most runs score for

the Mariners in Oakland in a game.

This will be the last time these two

teams face each other in Oakland

as the A's move to Sacramento for

a few seasons while building a

stadium in Las Vegas hopefully. 

The big inning was the seventh

where the Mariners scored seven

runs after leading 5-2. Luis Urias

led off the seventh with a home

run his first for the Mariners since

May. He was the hitter of the game

as he had two doubles as well and

driving in four runs. 

Urias home run was the Mariners

only one of the game. The team

seems to do better when they don't

hit a lot of home runs. Oakland 

Stadium is big so the Mariners had

five doubles besides Urias. Victor

Robles had two doubles and drove

in three runs. Mitch Garver may

have had his best game as a Mariner

since he drove in four runs as well.

Every Mariners hitters had at least 

one hit in the game. In total they

had 16 hits. Robles who batted 

sixth in the lineup through ninth

hitter were the most productive as

they drove in 13 of the 16 runs. 

Oakland reliever Jason Junk gave

up all seven runs on six hits and two

walks. I thought in the middle of it

all he was doing his namesake by

throwing a lot of junk.. Junk was

removed and didn't a single out.

George Kirby pitched six innings

giving up two runs. Kirby struck

out nine hitters. There was thought

he would go out and pitch the 7th

however it was a long half inning

they decided to go to the bullpen.

When the Mariners have scored at 

least ten runs they have struggled 

to score runs for several games.

They don't have to score 16 in

today's afternoon game but at

least five runs and splitting the

series would be good since they

are still battling for a spot in the

playoffs. In fact this would be a

good start to go on a long winning

streak. Go M's.

Preview Texas Tec at Washington State

Both these teams have played before

however it has been sixty years since

the last game. They played twice and 

Texas Tech won both.So this doesn't 

seem to count.

Texas Tec play in the Big 12 so they will

have a tougher schedule than the Cougars.

Last week the Red Raiders plated Abilene

Christian Wildcats 52-51. Tells me they

had a close gsme and defense had trouble 

on both sides. The Cougars though beat

Portland State 70-30.

The Cougars always seem to have a

good offense the question is the defense.

Last year they got off to a good start but

fell down in the same way Colorado did

too.

Texas Tec quarterback is Behren Morton

who went 30 of 42 passes for 378 yards 

and five touchdowns. Josh Kelly who

played for the Cougars had 10 catches 

for 152 yards and one touchdown. Tahj

Brooks led them with 27 carries for 153

yards and a touchdown.

This game looks like it should be a high

scoring affair however this is why they

play the game. The Cougars sometimes

get off to a good start then let the other

team get back into it whether they win or lose. 

Texas Tech led Abilene Christian 32-21

at halftime. Abilene had 24 points while 

Texas Tech had 11.  The Red Raiders 

won in overtime making the extra point.

Now we will see who may get ahead 

first and if the other team will make it

close. Go Cougs. 

Mariners Lose Again

The Oakland A's had another walk off

win Tuesday night. This time was a single

and losing 3-2.

The Mariners scored both runs in the

first inning and went silent thereafter.

Other teams are losing in the race

however the Mariners are not taking 

advantage. 

The Mariners have won only two games

on the last two road trips. No one is taking

charge on the offense. Now we hope thing change real soon. Wednesday will be the

third game against the A's in this four game

series. They go to St. Louis for the weekend.

Preview Week Two: Eastern Michigan Vs Washington

The Washington Huskies beat Weber

State last Saturday 35-3 at home

while Eastern Michigan beat UMass

28-14.

These teams have never played each 

other just like last weeks opponent 

before.  Eastern Michigan were 6-7

overall and 4-4 in the MAC Conference.

Toledo won the conference 8-0.

Cole Snyder is the starting quarterback.

He is a transfer and this is his third stop

after playing at Buffalo and Rutgers.

Snyder completed 17 of 29 completions 

for 241 yards and a touchdown. He

ran for a touchdown as well.

Eastern Michigan Eagles go with two

running backs primarily. Dontse McMillan

the starter had 15 carries for 54 yards 

while Dilbert Mimms had 60 on 12 carries

and had a touchdown. The Huskies had

trouble stopping the run in the last game

so they will need to make an improvement.

Oran Singleton the Eagles top receiver

had a busy day having eight catches for

89 yards and the only touchdown in the

air. The Huskies defensive backs will

have to watch out.

The Eagles play three front on defense 

with three linebackers and five defensive

backs. Middle linebacker James Djonkam

lead them.with 10 tackles. 

Jonah Coleman had the  most carries

for the Huskies at 16 for 127 yards and 

three touchdowns. Cameron Davis 

returned after being out most of last

season. He had five carries for 22 yards.

Giles Jackson finally having to start

at wide receiver had his best day

with ten catches for 98 yards. Denzel 

Boston who was one of the top

receiver backup last year had six

receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown.

Cameron Davis who has  done well

coming out of the bsckfield had

three catches. At tight end Quentin

Moore was hurt so freshman Decker

DeGraaf had a catch for 33 yards

and his first career touchdown.

Moore might be out a few games 

so DeGraaf will be number for now.

The Huskies defense will need to improve

on Saturday against the run. The Huskies

have a talented secondary. Go Dawgs!

Oakland Wins In Walk off

The Oakland A's beat the Seattle

Mariners in the opening game

of the Series late Monday afternoon

5-4 on a walk off home run in the

9th inning.

The Mariners continue to be a bad

team on the road as well as hitting.

The Mariners  had a two run homer 

from Cal Raleigh in the first inning.

They has single run in the third and 

sixth inning. The A's had four runs 

in the third inning including a three

run homer. 

Logan. Gilbert went six innings

despite giving up the four runs.

He wasn't able to get a  quality 

start. Austin Voth pitched the

ninth giving up the home run.

Voth has pitched well except

when he has pitched in the

9th. 

The Mariners and Oakland play

again on Tuesday. The Mariners

can't afford another loss at least 

not for a little  while anyway.

Mariners Lose Again

The Mariners offense took the day

off once again on Sunday afternoon.

The Angels scored a run in the first

then the Mariners tied it in the second.

They added the second run in the

third.  Nothing after that. Bryce Miller

gave up the final two runs in the fifth

inning. He came out in the fifth inning

as he had thrown many pitches already.

The Mariners  bullpen did a fine job

not giving up a hit at all. There was

one walk however five strike outs.

Though the bullpen gave opportunity

the Mariners couldn't capitalize. The 

Angels bullpen gave up a hit in each

of three innings and a walk in the

8th but that was it. Luke Raley got 

on in the 9th with one out. He tried

to steal second without sliding and

was called out on a pretty good throw.

My opinion he should be running

in the first place. Again the Mariners

offense messed up.

 Now the Mariners go and play a four

game series against the Oakland A's.

They really need to take at least three

of them to have any chance to make

the playoffs. Logan Gilbert will start

in a late afternoon game on Monday.

Washington Beats Weber State

The Washington  Huskies beat Weber State 
35-3 Saturday  night  in Husky Stadium. 

Takeaway  number one:  Jonah Coleman
in his first start rushed for 127 yards on
16 carries and had three touchdowns.
The thing is he wasn't  impressed in his 
first game as a Husky  after transferring 
from Arizona.  He believes  the team has
a lot to learn. Tells us not to be impressed  
by Weber State  either.  I  hope is rushing
stats average is the same for the season. 

Takeaway  number two: it take a while
for the Huskies  to score. The halftime 
score was 14-0. A decent score against
a team they outmatched.  Quarterback 
Will Rogers in his Huskies  debut completed 
20 of 26 passes which is a good percentage.
Another that would be a good average. The
yardage was 250 and one touchdown. Rogers 
had no interceptions either. I  am sure having
over over 300 yards would be a good mark

and at least a couple more touchdowns. 

Takeaway Three: the Huskies  defense can

be better if not the offense  as well.  They

gave up 16 first downs. Weber State rushed

for 155 yards so the Huskies  need improvement 

there too. The goal is give up less than one 

hundred yards per game. Passing was 98 yards.

Against good teams that would be a remarkable 

stat.  Neither team had a turnover in the game.

Not a good stat for the Huskies  who were the

superior team. They should have at least one

turnover on  a team that isn't good. We could 

say at this point the Huskies  are a bend and

not break  giving up just a field goal.

The Huskies  take on Eastern Michigan next 

week.  They  generally a good team so will

be a better match up for the Huskies. We

will see improvement  by the  Huskies  we

hope. We will do a preview on Eastern Michigan 

before next Saturday's  game. It is starting at

12:30 pm Seattle  time.  Go Dawgs!
