Mariners Draft Picks Day Two

The Mariners  didn’t  have a third round
pick for signing Robbie  Ray as a free agent
during the off season.  The  Mariners
drafted more high school  pitchers as well
as position  players. We now let you know
who they took.

Round Four:  Ashton Izzi a 6'3 right  handed
high school pitcher from Oswego  Illinois.
Right now Ashton  throws low 90s on his
fastball. He also throws a slider and changeup.
The Mariners  seem to link pitchers  who
throw sliders.

Round Five: The Mariners  did decide to  go
for a college pitcher. A lefty in Reid VanScoter
from Coastal Carolina. Reid had Tommy John
surgery in 2019. He throws several pitches.
I am sure he will begin this career as a starter.

Round  Six: The Mariners  drafted another
shortstop this one from the college ranks
in Josh Hood from North Carolina State.
Though a shortstop  Josh could end up
playing  third base. Bats and throws right
handed. Also, hits with  power.

Round Seven: Hogan Windish a college
second baseman with power and bats right
handed.

Round Eigth:  The Mariners  drafted  a
catcher in Tatem Levins from Pittsburgh
A left hitting catcher known more his
defense than hitting.

Round Nine: The Mariners  went back to  a
high school  righthanded pitcher in Tyler
Gough from California. He can throw up
to 97 mph on his fastball.

Round Ten: The Mariners  picked their
first outfielder in Billy  Knight Jr.. He went
to the same college  as Kyle Lewis.  He
has power and plays a good center field
and bats righthanded.

Next  time up we will see how Julio Rodriguez
did in the home run  derby.

Tuesday  we will  see the remaining  draft picks.

Later on in the weeks  ahead we will see how
these draft picks land in the top prospects.
