Robbie Ray and Mariners Lose

Having had a spectular spring training
we were expecting a good start by
Robbie Ray, however didn't turn out that
way.

Ray had trouble early on throwing a
lot of pitches. He got out the first
without surrounding a run but threw
over 20 pitches. Like early last
season Ray had one bad inning
giving up runs sort of.

The second inning he loaded the bases
but a throwing error where Teoscar
Hernandez tried to throw the runner at
home. Three runners scored that inning.
In the fourth he gave up a couple more
runs before exiting with one out.

Trevor Gott made his Mariners debut
but gave up three runs in the 5th
inning. Again fielding was the primary
problem since none of the runs were
earned. Before Ray left the Mariners
had tied the game 3-3 on a  two run
double by Cal Raleigh. The Mariners
scored one more run in the fourth.

Penn Murfee finished off the 5th
for Gott. Chris Flexen came in and
finish the game going four innings.
He did OK though walked three
batters. I don't expect to Flexen
in the remaining two games against
Cleveland unless it is for one inning
or less.

Besides Raleigh, Julio had a couple
doubles including leading off the
first inning. The final was Cleveland 9
Seattle 4. Logan Gilbert will start
Saturday night hopefully look more
like Castillo in the opener.

The Tacoma Rainiers had a great
opener beating Oklahoma in
their park 15-8. The Rainers had
15 hits on the night including
two home runs. They play a three
game series against Oklahoma
before coming home to start
a six game series against Reno.
Taylor Dollard is the only pitching
prospect pitching for the Rainer's.
He is expected to start Sunday.

The Mariners double A team starts
their season next Thursday. The same
goes for Everett who begins their season
at home.
