Mariners Make Changes to Coaching Staff

As we still wait for a trade or free
agent signing the Mariners on
Monday announced their coaching
staff for 2022.

Returning from 2021 will be third
base coach Manny Acta, Trent
Blank bullpen coach and director
of pitching strategy, Carson Vitale
major league field coordinator,
Pitching coach Pete Woodworth
and infield coach Perry Hill. You
will find that Hill will no longer
coach first base though.

Not returning are hitting Tim
Laker who declined Mariners
offer to return. The Mariners
offense wasn't up to par so
interesting they offered and
he declined. Also Jarred Sandberg
bench coach won't return. No
reason why, however, the Mariners
are not going to have a bench coach
in 2022. Scott Servais will get
input from all the coaches.

Added to the coaching staff are
Andy McKay to major league
coach and senior director of
major league development. As
a major league coach not sure
what his duties will be. He was
promoted from what we would
call minor league farm director.
The Mariners now being one of
the top minor league teams in
baseball it is not a surprise
McKay is promoted. Be
interesting to see whether
anyone will take over  his old
position or he is given added
duties with the promotion.

Jarret DeHart was promoted
to head hitting coach and
director of hitting strategy.
Tony Arnerich hitting coach
takes DeHart's position.
Arnerich had been minor
league field and catching
coordinator. The final
promotion is Kristopher
Negron be the first base
coach. He was the manager
of the Tacoma Rainiers team
for a season in 2021. We
wish all these guys a good
coming season.

The Mariners I am sure will
add coaches to their minor
league teams well as promotions.
