games on Tuesday. I am
not sure they have ever
played a doubleheader on
Tuesday before.
Both games were struggle
for the Mariners to win
but maybe à good test for
the playoffs.
Luis Torrens ended up pitching
extra innings and ended up
the winning pitcher. Abraham
Toro activated after Sam Haggerty was placed on the
injured list. Too bad for Sam
who was important part of
the Mariners making the
playoffs. Anyway Toro hit
a sacrifice fly as a walk off
in game one.
Luis Torrens pitched the tenth
inning and became the first position player for the Mariners
ever to record a win. He knew
he would pitch if the game went into extra innings. Torrens caught the second game.
In game two the Mariners had
a lead before Justus Sheffield
who was activated as the extra
player gave up a grand slam home run. Sheffield went five innings. He pitched well for four innings before the grand slam. Not sure he is a major league starter but could be
a good reliever. See if he is
given the chance next year.
Speaking of left handed
relievers Matt Boyd has done
a great job since he was activated in September after
the trade from San Francisco.
I hope he has chance to return
next season.
The Mariners know now they
will play the Blue Jays on Friday. They will head for Toronto after the final game
Wednesday afternoon. I am not sure like many but if the third
game happens it will be in
Seattle. We hope the Mariners
can take both at home. I
believe they take on Houston
after winning that series. Go
M's.
