Seattle Mariners Sign Jorge Polanco

The Seattle  Mariners  on Thursday  resigned former second  baseman Jorge  Polanco to a one year contract at just over $7million.  News came out that Polanco  willplay third base this coming season  instead of second.

This means the competition  at second base will be between  Leo Rivas,  Ryan Bliss and Dylan Moore.  Also top prospect Cole Young  might  have a chance as well.  Even if he doesn't  start the season  with Seattle  he could be the guy sometime depending on on how the others do.

I know fans will have doubts on Polanco. He has done well  while being healthy however he has only played 133 games or more in 2017, 2019 and 2021. If he is able to stay healthy  more at third base the Mariners  may do well with him. Jerry  Dipoto and the rest of the staff may think so.

Spring training starts on February  12 with the pitchers and catchers  reporting. We still continue continuing  with Huskies  and Cougarsas far as football and men's  basketball  along with Gonzaga men's  basketball.  Also there is the Seahawks  and the Kraken  too. Go teams

Cougars Lose To Pacific Again

The Washington State Cougars lost
another close game to Pacific on
Thursday night this time 70-68.
Now they were beat twice Pacific
this season. This is is the first win
at home for Pacific since 2023.
This is the third loss in a row for
the Cougars. The last loss was to
St.Mary's by five points. We could
say the Cougars are playing to
their competition.

The good news is Isaiah Watts made
his return after being out for several
weeks this season and he was in
the starting line. Watts though only
scored eight points however played
29 minutes.

The Cougars had two players score
in double figures with Dane Erikstrup
17 points and Nate Calmese with
13. The interesting thing Pacific had
five players in double figures. What
kept the Cougars in the game only
One other player for Pacific scored
points and it was just one.

The Cougars shot better than Pacific
although didn't take as many shots
from the field. The Cougars now are
5-5 in West Coast Conference.
The Cougars play at the San Francisco
Dons on Saturday. The Dons are in
third place with 7-3 conference record
behind St. Mary's who is undefeated
and Gonzaga.  We hope the Cougs
can find a way to win.

In baseball the Mariners made a move
finally Thursday night to the infield.
Bringing back a player who will play
third base instead is what se have
heard anyway. More details next time.

Gonzaga Wins Big And About Huskies and Cougars

Tuesday the Zags beat Oregon State
98-60 after losing to them a couple weeks ago.

The Zags had four players score
in double figures. Khalif Battle
who had started before came off
the bench to score 23 points in the
same amount of minutes. Graham
Ike led the starters with 22 points
though he only twenty minutes.
Nolan Hickman who played the
most minutes had 16 points.
Michael Ajayi came off the bench
with 15 points.

The Beavers had 13 turnovers that allowed Gonzaga to score 23 points
to their four points. The Zags scored
50 points in the  first half and the
Beavers scored 30 points in both
halves. Often it comes down to
runs. The Zags ended the first half
on a 16-3 run.

The Zags shot well from the 3 point
line making 9 out of 13. Tge Beavers took more 3s but made only six.
They shot better from the field to
by making fifty-five per cent and
making 12 more. Also did better
at the free throw line making eleven
more than the Beavers.

The Zags play St. Mary's on the
road Saturday night. St Mary's
is undefeated in the conference
so the Zags will have to play their
best to win.

The Washington Huskies play at
Minnesota Saturday morning
at 9 am Pacific Time. The Huskies
have to end a six game losing
streak. February will be an easier
schedule than January for the
Huskies so they need to improve.
Their last game was losing a close
loss at home to UCLA last Friday.
Hopefully the time will get them
in a better place. The Huskies have
eleven games remaining on the
regular season. We hope to see success. Next Wednesday they play
Nebraska at home.

The WSU Cougars take on Pacific
on the road on Thursday night.
The last time Pacific beat the
Cougars in an upset in Pullman
by one point. The Cougars are six place in the West Coast Conference.
The last outing they gave St. Mary's
a good game though they lost by
four. We hope for a turn around.

We hope for a win by all three teams.

Seahawks Get New Offensive Coordinator

Reports are out former New Orleans
Saints Offensive Coordinator Klint
Kubiak is expected to be the Seahawks
Offensive Coordinator.

What does that mean for the offensive
players and assistants coaches on
the Seahawks. We will find out over
the next couple weeks I expect.

The Seahawks will need to look
at the  offensive line to begin
with. The tackles been good
when healthy however have to
upgrade at center and the
guards.

The offensive line has done a fine
job in the passing game however
the running game not so much.
The Seahawks have the running
backs but have trouble running
behind the line especially on
first down. The Seahawks didn't
make the playoffs for not running
the ball as equal to passing as
far as attempts.  The passing
game is even more effective
when the running game is.
It wasn't just under Ryan Grubb
but other OCs as well in recent
years.

Right now have no idea whether
Tyler Lockett or DK Metcalf will
return. We hope that Metcalf
will. The Seahawks have to lower
the salary cap too. Lockett may
if he is willing to take a salary cut
like he has in recent seasons.
Geno Smith has the highest salary
hit right now. So will he return too.
Now that Pete Carroll is head coach
of  the Raiders Geno may go to
that team.

We hope to see some positive
help on the offense. Go Hawks!

Cougars and Huskies Both Lose and More

WSU Cougars are having a better
season than the Washington
Huskies however  both teams play
in tough basketball conferences.

On Thursday evening the Cougars
lost to Santa Clara 93-65. The
 Cougars were down 49-38 at
half time while Santa Clara Broncos
went on a couple runs. The second
half the Broncos dominated scoring
44 points while the Cougars had 27.

The Broncos were able to stop
Cougars leading scorer Nate
Calmese to three points. LeJuan
Watts led the Cougars in points,
rebounds and assists. Only the
second time a Cougars man
did a triple in double figures.
Watts had 20 points, 11 rebounds
and 10 assists. Ethan Price had
16 points for the Cougars and
Rihards Vavers recently activated
came off the bench with 11 points.

The Broncos took almost 20 more
shots than the Cougars and making
10 more. They had ten more rebounds
than the Cougars primarily on the
offensive side. They made four more
3s as well taking nine more. Saturday
evening tge Cougars take on St. Mary's
who are undefeated in conference
play with seven wins so things don't
get any better.

The Washington Huskies lost their
six straight game losing to UCLA
65-60 in a close all the way in Seattle.
The Huskies only had Great Osobor
score in double figures with 19 points
and had nine rebounds as well.
Huskies not getting much production
from the rest of the guys. Good news
center Franck Kepnang returned from
injury in the second half with seven
points and eight rebounds. Kepnang
who hss been hurt most of his time
with the Huskies missing the last
two years and much of this season
to after transferring from Oregon.
When he has played you can see he
is the heart of the Huskies. We hope
his presence will turn the team around.

The Huskies don't play again until
February 1 when they play at
Minnesota. They follow by playing
Nebraska at home on Wednesday
February 5. They start playing the
lower teams in tge Big Ten so
hopefully some wins.

The Cougars and Huskies football
Apple Cup scheduled September
20, 2025 in Pullman. It will be
interesting for tge Cougars with a
new coaching staff and players
going through the transfer portal.
Hard to know how good the Cougars
will be. The Apple Cup for 2026 and 27
were announced this week. They
are scheduled September 5 2026 in
Seattle followed by September 18, 2027 in Pullman. They are going
to play Arizona both seasons as well.
The game will be in Pullman on
September 26, 2026 followed by
September 25, 2027 in Tucson.

News game out on Friday that former
Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete
Carroll was hired by the Las Vegas
Raiders. Some fans I am sure are
not happy with the news while others
are OK about it. Before 1977 and the
Seahawks many local fans were
Raider fans when they were in Oakland.
The Seahawks started in the AFC
West before moving to the NFC West.

The next thing is to find out what
assistants Pete will bring to Las Vegas.
I expect we will hear about a few
former Seahawks assistants. I am
sure the Raiders will have some
turnover over of players like he did
when he came to Seattle. We wish
him the best.

Washington Huskies Men's Fall Short Again

It has been a hard patch for the Huskies men's basketball team
losing to teams in the top 30
in the country and make the
NCAA tournament. We were hoping
for tge Huskies this year however
it doesn't look to happen.

New coach Danny Sprinkle the
Huskies are playing good ball
despite losing. According to most
experts the Huskies don't have
enough physical presence to compete
in the Big Ten this season. This
is something they will need to add
in recruiting and the transfer portal.

For a while the Huskies looked like
they could upset the Oregon Ducks
especially in the first have however
ran out of steam losing 82-71. Again
they were led by Great Osobor in
scoring and rebound. He had 20
points and eight rebounds.

Zoom Diallo continues to be the
future leader of the backcourt
as he had 18 points. Tyler Harris
had 15 points as well being the
third and final player in double
figures. Besides being more
physical the Huskies need more
help out of the backcourt  and
coming off the bench. They have
no consistency in either place.

The Huskies three point shooting
wasn't good making only four out
of twenty-one shots. They  are
improving from the  foul line where
they missed only twice going 15 of
17. In a close game that will really
help.

The Huskies play UCLA at home
on Friday night. This again will
be a tough game. They have eight
days off before playing Minnesota
on February 1. They two have had
a rough patch like the Huskies though
they have won two straight games.
The Huskies have 12 games remaining
on the schedule in the regular season
so they will need to see a much
improved record as well as performance. Though it has been
rough the Huskies future looks
good especially if they can get
more physical. Go Dawgs!

Ichiro Makes Baseball Hall of Fame

Tuesday it was announced former Seattle  Mariners
outfielder  Ichiro  Suzuki made the Major League
Hall of Fame as suspected by everyone  in Seattle
anyway.

Ichiro  as he was just  called got every vote except
one by the baseball  writer who were eligible to
vote. My opinion that writer should never get the
privilege  to vote again. Under these circumstances
they should have thrown out vote.

Ichiro  made the Hall of Fame  along with pitchers
CC Sabathia  and Billy  Wagner. If I  had a vote they
would have been the only three I vote for though
you can vote for ten players who are eligible.

In his press conference  Tuesday  Ichiro had no
idea when he came to Seattle  he would end up
making the Hall of Fame.   I  am  sure  none of
us thought that either and he becoming one of
the great hitters of all time.

The Seattle  Mariners  announced they are retiring
Ichiro uniform number 51. If you remember another
good Mariners player pitcher Randy Johnson wore
that number before Ichiro.  No one will wear it again,

I am sure every long time Mariners fans remember
on April 11 2001 Ichiro threw out Oakland  A's outfielder
Terrence Long at third base. This is the same year the
Mariners won 116 games, Ichiro  was named rookie
of the Year and Most Valuable  Player  in the American
League. We were able to see many more catches by
Ichiro  as well as many memorable hits. Thanks Ichiro.
We glad you spend the baseball  season  still in Seattle.
Ichiro  also got a call from another former Mariners
outfielder  in Ken Griffey  Jr.  to congratulate him.
Go M's.

Mariners Right Now

I am sure most Seattle Mariners fans
are disappointed  in what the team
has done to make it better to make
the playoffs  in 2025.

We could say they haven't done a
whole lot and national baseball
writers including those who are
former general  managers have
given the Mariners management
a failing grade at this point.

Again this comes down to ownership.
We could say they want to keep
money in their pocket which is true
I  am  sure.  I  have  said all along
that they are not seeing things right
since they could make a whole lot
more money  by acquiring one or
two position players.

The Mariners  make the playoffs
means more fans watching in person
as well on TV.  The Mariners  did sign
all the players who were up for
arbitration which increased the payroll
over last year or at least got it closer.

Every time I  see them sign someone
who was dfa or waived by another
team shakes my head. Most of those
are pitchers and the Mariners  have
one or two spots at most in the bullpen
to make it. Half of the 40-man roster
is made up of pitchers. In recent days
they signed a few infielders however
the most part they will be playing in
Tacoma for depth.

At least there is three weeks until spring
training so still some hope to pick someone
up. Of course they can during camp however
how good is that.

It comes down to Julio getting  off to a
batter start and Can Raleigh  having another
good season  though be nice if his batting
average goes up. We hope that JP Crawford
has a better season than last year. Victor
Robles has the same season  as last year
and a full season  of Randy Arozarena will
help in left and dh. Mitch Haniger looks
better than last season at dh and an occasion
in the outfield. Luke Raley  has a consistent
season  at first base and occasion time in
the outfield.   Mitch Garver has a better year.
Donovan Solano puts up similar marks as
he did last season  with San Diego.

Now we come to second and third base.
We really  still have question  marks both
positions  though they do have Ryan Bliss
and Leo Rivas  who can man at second.
Both exciting  players however can they
hit major league  hitting consistently.  If
so that takes care of it. I won't say third
base until what we see when spring  comes
or they acquire  someone or not.

What we hope for is a better hitter ball
club the way it is or maybe. We hope
for a surprise.  Oh yes we could see
Colt Young at second base. Go M's.

Zags Upset Again Cougars Win

For the second game in a row Gonzaga
was upset this week in a close game.
They lost to a good Santa Clara team
at home on Sunday 103-99.

Gonzaga likely make the tournament
however they have to get back to
their winning ways. They showed
the offense is good however must
have good defense as well.

Tyeree Bryan had a career high 35
points for Santa Clara including
making seven 3s. They had three
others in double figures. Camaron
Tongue came off the bench for
nine minutes and had 11 points.
It certainly helped in the victory.
Santa Clara shooting and making
more threes helped a lot in the
victory.

The Zags had four starters in double
figures led by Nolan Hickman with 24
points. Braden Huff came off the
bench with 16 points in ten minutes.
Makes me wonder why he doesn't
play more minutes.

Washington State Cougars beat
Portland for the second time this
year winning Saturday 92-70.
Nate Calmese cintinutes to be
Cougars leading scorer in most
games. In this one he 23 points.
Tge former Washington Huskies
player you wonder why former
head coach Mike Hopkins didn't
play him more. A good reason
Hopkins isn't coaching the Huskies
and can't blame Nate for moving
on though he certainly looks like
he would have been good on the
team this year however the Cougars
gain for sure.

The Cougars had three other starters
score in double figures and ND Okafor
had 12 off the bench. It will help the
Cougars a lot if he can help on a
regular basis.  The Cougars will
play on Thursday.

St. Mary's is in first place of the
West Coast Conference with a
6-0 record. They take on San Francisco
and the Cougars this week. San Francisco. is second place followed
by Washington State, Gonzaga
and Santa Clara in third. Go teams.

Cougars Win Zags Upset

It isn't easy to play on the road
and both the WSU Cougars and
Gonzaga both had to do so on
Thursday night. Only the Cougars
were victorious. The Cougars
beat San Diego 65-61.

The Cougars led off with a 13-0
run in the first three and a half
minutes before the Toreros score.
The Cougars couldn't score for
five minutes in the middle of the
first half that allowed the Toros
to get back into the game.

The last 3:33 the Toreros went on
a 9-0 run to take a 27-25 lead at
halftime. The Cougars scored a
bucket early in the second half
however couldn't score for five
minutes. They did catch up and
took the lead 1:48 remaining in
the game on a Nate Calmese
3 pt shot. Calmese made four
free throws in the  last six seconds
to ice the game. He scored 22 of
his team leading 27 points in the
second half.

Dane Erikstrup was the only other
Cougar scoring in double figures
with 12 points and led them with
ten rebounds. It was his first double
double of the season. The Cougars
next game at home against Portland
Saturday afternoon at 3 pm local time.
Go Cougs.

Gonzaga was upset by Oregon State
in overtime 97-89. Gonzaga led by
five with six minutes to go in regular
time however the Beavers went on
a 8-1 to take a three point lead in
tge last few seconds. All they had
to do was foul a Zag player to win
instead gave up a three point shot
for the tie. The Beavers outscored
the Zags 14-6 in overtime.

Tge Zags had all five starters score
in double figures. They were led by
Graham Ike with 26 points. Ben
Gregg had 15 points and led the
Zags with 13 rebounds.

With the loss the Zags are in second
place in the WCC while the Beavers
and Cougars along with Santa Clara
tied for four place. Gonzaga is home
Saturday evening against Santa Clara.
Go Zags!

Washington Huskies Men's Lose Again

The Washington Huskies Men's Basketball team lost for the 4th
straight time. Wednesday night
it was to Purdue 69-58.

The Purdue Boilermakers are 6-1
now in the Big Ten while the Huskies
are 1-6. Purdue is third in the Big
Ten while Michigan and Michigan
State who both beat the Huskies
are undefeated.

The Huskies actually played well
in the first half especially on defense
giving up 22 points however they
couldn't sustain it in the second half.

The Huskies were led by Great Osobor
with 28 points however the other four
starters combined for 15 points. This
was an unusual game for freshman
Zoom Diallo who has been scoring
a lot in double figures had only six
points. Mekhi Mason who came off
the bench had 12 points and played
33 minutes.

As shown by his 28 points Osobor
shot 8 for 9 from the field which
included five 3s. He made seven
free throws as well. An area that
helped in the loss was 17 turnovers.

Purdue had four starters who scored
in double figures. Made up for Osobor's
points for sure. They didn't get much
out of their bench.

The Huskies don't play again until
next Tuesday when the play Oregon
in Eugene. The Ducks are 4-2 in the
Big Ten and 15-2 overall. They are
fifth in the conference. They take
on Purdue on Saturday before facing
the Huskies.

In football news came out that former
Texas Longhorn wide receiver Johntay
Cook II who transferred to Washington
late in December is no longer with
the program. With Giles Jackson and
Jeremiah Hunter college football
careers over Cook had a chance to
snag one of the two starting receiver
spots. Reports out were he wasn't
getting along with some of his new
teammates. Now the Huskies will
see who will take his playing time
as well as being a starter. We will
get to that at another time.

The Washington State Cougars
men's play at San Diego Thursday
night followed by Portland at home
on Saturday afternoon. The Cougars
are looking at ending a two game
losing streak and already have
beaten Portland already. Go Cougs.

Gonzaga who beat WSU in their last
game at home travel to Oregon
State Thursday night as well. They
take on Santa Clara at home Saturday
evening. Go Zags.

Rams Beating Vikings

I normally  post about the the
teams in Washington  however
I  figured to say something  about
the Seahawks  rival who are in
the playoffs.

Although the Seahawks  and Rams
tied for the NFC  West division title
I  would say the Rams were the team
that should be there.

The Rams won 27-9 and as the score
indicates  it was primarily the defense
that won the game. The defense  of
the Rams scored a touchdown  on a
fumble recovery  however another
stop where the Vikings tried for a
first down on a fourth down came
up short led to another Rams touchdown.

The  Rams had nine sacks on the
Vikings while Rams quarterback
Matthew Stafford was sacked
twice. All the scoring happened
in the first three quarters  as both
teams didn't score in the 4th quarter.

The Rams now travel  to  take on the
Eagles in Philadelphia next Sunday.
I know some won't  want to rout for
a division  rival. I  am  going  to though
really no interest  really who wins.
A good game is what counts when
your team is not in the playoffs.

The Rams play another good defensive
game they have a good  shot to move
on. Enjoy the NFL playoffs.

A Frustrating Seattle Mariners Off-season

The Seattle  Mariners  are about a month
away from 2025 spring training. I  am
sure  most  of the fans are almost  as
disheartened  as I am  at this point.

Last season  the  Mariners missed out
making the playoffs again by one game.
This time though they had a ten game
lead of the West Division in June which
they couldn't hold onto.

Scott Servais  who was a friend of President
of baseball operations  Jerry  Dipoto ended
up being fired in early  September.  The
Mariners  defense  didn't  look good in the
series against  the  Dodgers.  This meant
that Scott Servais  had lost the team.

Besides Dan Wilson  becoming manager
former Mariner great hitter and former
hitting coach took over the position once
again. The Mariners  hitting  which had
been poor to say the least on the season
did improve in September.  Most fans
and media new Edgar  likely  would not
return  as hitting coach in 2025. That is
true however he is now the Senior Director
of hitting strategy for the Mariners.  This
means though Edgar will not be on the
road during the season  we will see him
at home games. His philosophy  on
hitting that was going on in September
will continue this spring and throughout
2025 season.

We are hoping the Mariners  will  make
at least  one major acquisition  soon
we hope the hitting  will improve no
matter what. Currently  the Mariners
have Mitch Garver and Mitch Haniger
on the roster. I  have heard  speculation
that they could  be  traded to the Miami
Marlins however what the Mariners  get
in return  who knows. Though they may
not be who they were once being better
than last year would be a plus if they are
on team.

At this point Garver will be the backup
catcher while Haniger  will dh some
and most likely  against left. We may
see him in the outfield on occasion
although Victor Robles is the starter
right fielder.  Depend on how Haniger
hits we could see him at first base too.
This  comes down to whether  the M's
sign Justin Turner or Tyler  Locklear
or bring in someone  else.

News came out today that the Mariners
signed veteran infielder Donovan Solano.
He is 37 years old however he did hit
.286 last season.  Donovan hits well
against lefties. The likelihood  he could
play third base in a platoon situation
although he could be the regular there
as well. Also last year he played a little
first base and second.  It comes down
to any other moves the Mariners make.

Right now with Solano the Mariners
have ten spots filled not including
a starting second baseman. Whoever
is the second baseman would leave
two on the opening roster to be filled.
The chance would be whoever would
play first base against lefties and
second base or third baseman. Dylan
Moore I  include in the eleven along with
Garver and Haniger.  Dylan would fill
any of the infield  spots as well  as
outfield if necessary. Go M's.

UW Loses Again

It has been a tough start for the
Washington Huskies men's
basketball team. They were
beaten by Michigan 91-75.

A positive note it wasn't as bad
as the loss to Michigan State.
The loss now makes the Huskies
1-5 in the  Big Ten. The Huskies
were not able to slow down the
Wolverines.  I am sure you could
tell by the score.

Great Osobor who didn't play
well in the last two games did
respond with 23 points and 11
rebounds. Zoom Diallo and
Mekhi Mason each had 13 points.
Mason only played 16 minutes
so maybe he should have played
a few more minutes. They were
the only ones in double figures.

Again not a good year on the
road. The Huskies need to play
better competition during the
non-league schedule as well
on the road. Most of the non-
schedule are mostly at home.
They need play a schedule
similar to what Gonzaga does
during the non-league season.

The Wolverines had a couple
more 3s than the Huskies though
shot fine. The other issue the
Huskies were outscored by
Michigan at the line by eight.
The Huskies shot fine they
fouled Wolverines many more
times. The Huskies offense
doing fine it is the defense.

This week the Huskies only
have one game against Purdue
at home. They are a good team.
See if they can turn things around.
Go Dawgs.

Zags Beat Cougars

The first half between Gonzaga
and Washington State was close
for the men's basketball teams.
Gonzaga played good defense
which led them to have a good
second half that broke open the game.

Final Gonzaga 88 WSU 73

The Zags defense allowed them
to take easier shots. Graham Ike
led five players in double figures
with 21 points however Nolan
Hickman had 19 points with five
3s. Both teams shot over 50 percent
despite good defense. The Zags
made two more 3s than the Cougars
however seven more free throws
helped the Zags win as well. The
Cougars are now two games behind
the Zags in conference play. St. Mary's
is still tied with Zags.

Gonzaga will take on Oregon State
on the road Thursday followed by
playing Santa Clara at home on
Saturday. The Cougars will be at
San Diego on Thursday followed
by Portland at home on Saturday.
They beat Portland already 89-73.
The Cougars will want to end
their two game losing streak.

In major league baseball news former
Seattle Mariners manager Scott
Servais has been hired by the San
Diego Padres as special assistant
in player development which held
with the Texas Rangers and Los
Angeles Angels before coming the
Mariners manager. We wish him
the best.

WSU Cougars Men's Get Upset

The Washington State Cougars were
upset Thursday evening by Pacific
Tigers at home 95-94. It was the
Cougars first loss at home on the.

The Cougars had to overcome a
ten point deficit at halftime to
tie at regulation. The Tigers were
able to score eleven to the Cougars
ten in overtime. The Cougars are
now one game behind St. Mary's
and Gonzaga. The Cougars play
the Zags on Saturday night in
Spokane. The Cougs will need
to win to stay pace with the Zags.

The Cougars were led by Ethan
Price with 28 points. Each Cougs
starter scored in double figures
and played 30 minutes or more.
The Pacific Tigers had four players
in double figures however were led
by Lamar Washington who had
40 points. He hit the winning shot
as well. Lamar averages 12.7 points
a game and a transfer from Texas Tech. We hope this one of the minor
glitches for the Cougars.

Washington Huskies Huskies Lose Big Time

The Washington Huskies first
road game in 2025 in the Big Ten
turned out to be a bust. They
lost to Michigan State 88 -54.

This was the Huskies largest defeat
in men's basketball in 22 years.
Michigan State went on a 16-0
early on in the game and never recovered. The Huskies had only
13 points in the first half while
the Spartans had 42. Scoring 13
points in a half will be hard for
any team to win.

Tyler Harris was the only one in
double figures with 14 points for
the Huskies. Zoom Diallo was
second with eight. Great Osobor
who is usually the teams leading
scorer had only six points and went
0 of eight on the floor. The Huskies
only made  3 of 16 in three point
shots. Even shooting better they
wouldn't have won the game it
would have looked better on the
scoreboard.

The Huskies take on Michigan
this Sunday. Friday morning give details of the  Cougars game.

Mariners Sign All Eligible Players For Arbitration

Every player on the Mariners roster
who were eligible for arbitration
were signed by the Mariners it
was announced by the team.

This means that the Mariners will
not go to arbitration to decide
whether it is the amount the team
wanted or the player. That is a
good thing for both sides. The
arbitration judge decides one
side or the other. The players all
got raises in the process though
may have been below their value.
The Mariners could have signed
players to a multi year contract
as well. Most likely wouldn't have
been many.

The Mariners have picked up a
couple of relievers off waivers.
There isn't a lot of spots available
so several will compete for maybe
two spots. It would have been nice
to pick up someone to fill at the
top of the relievers however not
at this point. Now we have to see
whether the Mariners will pick up
at least a couple of infielders.
I would say a disappointing off
season so far but they can still
turn it around.

Washington Huskies play at Michigan
State Thursday night. We will be up
on the results. WSU Cougars will be
home against Pacific as well. Gonzaga
beat San Diego Wednesday 93-80.
Gonzaga and St. Mary's are at the
top of WCC each with 4-0 records.
Cougars win would put them with
the same.

Seahawks Already Made A Move

Mike Macdonald  had a press conference
this morning  about how he though the
Seahawks  played in the final game of
the season.

Later on the Seahawks  fired offensive
coordinator Ryan Grubb. I  wonder Grubb
goes to Alabama or another college or
moves onto another NFL team.

I am sure Huskies  fans are upset that
Grubb was fired by the Seahawks. The
team has gone through several offensive
coordinators over the last several years.
Maybe Grubb will stay in Seattle and the
Huskies.  That would be a hard one with
Fisch being head coach.

Be interesting  to  see  any other assistant
coaching moves well. The Seahawks do
need to improve  the offensive line.
Go Hawks!

Seahawks Beat Rams In Final Game

The Seahawks have trouble playing
the LA Rams however Sunday in
the final game of tge season they
won in a close game 30-25. It
came down to the last play of the
day where the Rams had a chance
to score a touchdown instead the
ball went incomplete.

The Rams will be in the playoffs
though the two teams tied for
the season with 10-7. The Rams
won all the tiebreakers. Some years
the Seahawks would have made
the playoffs. Losses to the Packers
and Vikings hurt the Seahawks
chances to make it.

Unlike the Rams who didn't start
Matthew Stafford while Seahawks
did go with Geno Smith. It was good
game for Geno throwing four touchdowns and no interceptions.

Zach Charbonnet had a good game
rushing 14 times for 59 yards. Kenny
McIntosh has 7 carries for 49 yards.
In the passing game Geno threw to
the tight ends ten times with Noah
Fant and AJ Barner each with five
and both had a touchdown. DK
Methalf and Jake Bobo each had a
touchdown. Now we see what the
offseason looks.

In college basketball the Washington
Huskies lost a close game to Illinois
81-77. The Huskies are showing they
could be a team to recond with.
DJ Davis had a great game for the
Huskies scoring 31 points including
hitting seven 3s. In all the Huskies
made 10 of 26 behind the arc while
Illinois made 5 out of 26.

The Huskies go on the road Thursday
evening against Michigan followed
by Michigan on Sunday. Both will
be tough for the Huskies to win
however we hope for success.
Go Dawgs!

WSU Cougars Beat San Francisco

The Washington State Cougars
continue to be undefeated in
the West Coast Conference by
going to 3-0.

This was the first real test for
the Cougars.  They beat San
Francisco 91-82. The first half
was close with Cougars being
up by one point.

All five starters scored in double
figures for the Cougars. They
played most of the minutes too.
LeJuan Watts led with 24 points
along with 12 rebounds.

The difference in the game was
foul shooting where the Cougars
made 34 while Dons had 16.
The Cougars shot 80 percent
at the line. Both teams were tied
for the lead in the conference.

The Cougars next game will be
Thursday night at home against
Pacific  followed.by Gonzaga on Saturday. The Zags lead Loyola
Marymount right now and should
win.

Seahawks At Rams

Sunday will be the Seahawks last
game of the season. As we know
they have trouble playing the Rams.

This game at LA is meaningless
in a way for both teams. It will
be important for those who have
incentives that can be accomplished
for bonuses. Also for those who
want to show for next season as well.

In the weeks ahead we will look at
who had good seasons and expect
to be back as well those who may not.

Enjoy the game whether the Seahawks
win or lose.  Go Hawks!

Huskies Upset Maryland

Though the Huskies men's basketball
team has had a few lapses on the
season for the most part they are
playing well under new head coach
Danny Sprinkle. Not an easy task with
a new group of playerd either.

The Huskies won 75-69. Both teams
shot the same on the court except they
scored a  few more 3s and they did
better at tge free throw line which is
a good sign too.

The Huskies had a bit of a change
in the starting rotation. Great Osobar
was the only one with success led in
scoring with 20 and rebounds with 12.
Maryland is known for being a physical
team so Osobar able to get in with
them  is a good sign.

Zoom Diallo freshman standout came
off tge bench for the Huskies to be second in scoring with 18 points. He
continues to be a success story. St
this point they are bringing him off
the bench though he is playing a lot
of minutes.

Grad students DJ Davis was the third
member scoring in double figures as
a trio and he had 17 points. He has
been inconsistent all season however
I am sure he knows conference play
is real important.

The Huskies had 11 players who
played however eight will get most
of the minutes. This was important
win as the Huskies lost  their first
two games to UCLA and USC earlier
in December. The Huskies will play
UCLA again on January 24 and USC
in the next to last in conference play.
Oregon is the only team in Big Ten
to play twice this season while
the rest is just once. Other words
we won't see Maryland again unless
in Bid Ten tournament or the NCAA
tournament.

The Huskies next game will be Sunday
again at home again this time against
Illinois. They are another tough opponent being 2-1 in conference
and 10-3 overall. They beat Oregon
on Thursday 109-77. The Ducks have had a good season so shows how
good they are and on the road. Go Dawgs!

Now We Welcome 2025

Now that we start the  New Year
we see what our teams will do.

The  Seattle Kraken are the only
one still playing as far as the
professional  teams. They have
been going up and down all season
long.

The Seahawks  season  just had
there season  end so what moves
will they be making to improve  in
2025.

The Mariners  are the next one to start
and what moves will they make in the
next two months before spring  training.

The Sounders and Storm though don't
cover often will get ready for another
season  to and wish them the best.
Last but not least what news will we
hear about the Supersonics and whether
Seattle  has a team in 2026 or 27.

On the college front the Huskies  season
front just ended for the football team in
awild way. The basketball teams just begin
there conference schedule in the Big Ten.
The baseball teams will begin shortly too.
The football team we will see spring practice
in a few months and who they will continue
to add from the transfer portal. Though they
did lose a good lot of players some of them
were walkons. At this point they have added
something  like 12 players so we what will
happen over the next months.

The Washington  State  Cougars  on the
otherhand have mass exit on the football
team after the head coach, offensive coaches
and both quarterbacks left. It will be interesting
to see who will be the team season.  Jimmy
Rogers coming from South Dakota  State
already has brought along his assistant coaches.
We will update what players come to the Coug
over the months.

The men's basketball  team is doing well starting
out the West Coast Conference with two wins.
We will see next  playing San Francisco Dons
and then real soon Gonzaga. It would be great
to see the Zags, the Cougs and Dawg in NCAA
Tournament.

We hope for the best for everyone and a wonderful
seasons. Right now  the basketball  season  be
enjoyable.  Have a happy New Year.

Mariners Look the Same
