Mariners Right Now

I am sure most Seattle Mariners fans
are disappointed  in what the team
has done to make it better to make
the playoffs  in 2025.

We could say they haven't done a
whole lot and national baseball
writers including those who are
former general  managers have
given the Mariners management
a failing grade at this point.

Again this comes down to ownership.
We could say they want to keep
money in their pocket which is true
I  am  sure.  I  have  said all along
that they are not seeing things right
since they could make a whole lot
more money  by acquiring one or
two position players.

The Mariners  make the playoffs
means more fans watching in person
as well on TV.  The Mariners  did sign
all the players who were up for
arbitration which increased the payroll
over last year or at least got it closer.

Every time I  see them sign someone
who was dfa or waived by another
team shakes my head. Most of those
are pitchers and the Mariners  have
one or two spots at most in the bullpen
to make it. Half of the 40-man roster
is made up of pitchers. In recent days
they signed a few infielders however
the most part they will be playing in
Tacoma for depth.

At least there is three weeks until spring
training so still some hope to pick someone
up. Of course they can during camp however
how good is that.

It comes down to Julio getting  off to a
batter start and Can Raleigh  having another
good season  though be nice if his batting
average goes up. We hope that JP Crawford
has a better season than last year. Victor
Robles has the same season  as last year
and a full season  of Randy Arozarena will
help in left and dh. Mitch Haniger looks
better than last season at dh and an occasion
in the outfield. Luke Raley  has a consistent
season  at first base and occasion time in
the outfield.   Mitch Garver has a better year.
Donovan Solano puts up similar marks as
he did last season  with San Diego.

Now we come to second and third base.
We really  still have question  marks both
positions  though they do have Ryan Bliss
and Leo Rivas  who can man at second.
Both exciting  players however can they
hit major league  hitting consistently.  If
so that takes care of it. I won't say third
base until what we see when spring  comes
or they acquire  someone or not.

What we hope for is a better hitter ball
club the way it is or maybe. We hope
for a surprise.  Oh yes we could see
Colt Young at second base. Go M's.
