Colorado Rockies Even Series Against Mariners

The Seattle Mariners started out well
where Cal Raleigh hit a two run homer
in the first inning. It was his 23rd on
on the season. Cal has been hitting
much better since August. Having an
injury that cost him about a month
had been a disappointing season
like for most of the Mariners.

In the third inning Randy Arozarena
who is one of the Mariners who has
had a good season hit a solo home
run making it 3-0. Unfortunately the
Mariners didn't score anymore runs.
The Mariners haven't won too many
games when scoring three runs or
less.

Bryce Miller who has been struggling
on the mound for the last couple of
months after having a good season
though he did spend a little time on
the injured list. He went five and one-third
inning giving up only four hits however
a run by the Rockies was scored on a
throwing error in the bottom of the
third.

This is where it began to crumble Carlos
Vargas came in the sixth and got the two
remaining outs however pitching again
the 7th he gave up two runs and then
Jose Ferrer came in and surrended
two more runs. Neither team scored
after that. This has been a problem
for the Mariners all season not able
to score more runs when needed
after early in the game. The bullpen
has had issues especially since
July.

Outside of Canzone no other left
handed hitter had a hit against a
lefty. Though he didn't get a hit
Laz Montes had his first start to
face a lefty handed pitcher. Though
he didn't get a hit I am glad he had a
shot.  Michael Arroyo started at 2nd
base and batted 7th.  He had two
hits in the game. Maybe he is one
of the guys who will play against
a left handed starter next year.

The Mariners have seven games
left on the season. They are six
games out of first place with seven
to go. The Rangers are now in
first place one game ahead of the
Astros.

The Rangers and Astros have no
games against each other in the
remaining schedule. The Mariners
do face the Astros in Tuesday
and Wednesday in Seattle so they
could make the difference.

The Rangers play Sunday against
Toronto then they face the New
York Mets for three then finish
the season against the Minnesota
Twins.  The Astros face the Atlanta
Braves on Sunday after losing on
Saturday. After the two games
against the Mariners they finish
up against the Athletics so they
certainly have a shot to win the
AL West.

Sunday the Mariners will start Kade
Anderson so hopefully he will pitch
better than his last outing. The
Rockies will have a right handed
starter so Lez Montes should be in
again. The Mariners have done better
against them than the lefties especially
on the road.  Go M's..

Washington Huskies Win Third in a Row

The Washington Huskies played better
Saturday late afternoon beating Eastern
Washington  48-13.

The Huskies had their best game of the
three. In the first quarter the Huskies.
had two touchdowns and Eastern Washington
had a field goal in between them.

In the second quarter Eastern Washington
had a touchdown early on making it
Washington 14-10. The closest they got
in the game.  They had an interception
where the Huskies were in the area to
score. Huskies qb was hit while releasing
the ball.  Desmond Williams Jr had  to
be checked out before coming back in.

The Huskies defense were able to stop
Easter Washington without getting a
first down.  The Huskies were able to
end the quarter with two touchdowns
and a field goal.  Wide receiver Rashid
Williams who missed last weeks game
had a touchdown catch in both the first
and second quarter. At half the Huskies
lead 31-10.

At the 10:44 of the third quarter EW
kicked a field goal. At the 3:08 left
the Huskies had a one yard run. This
was just after tight end  Baron Naone
came up short on 75 yard pass.
Score  Washington 38 EW 13

In the 4th quarter  EW had another
field goal and the last score they
had in the game at 13:07.  The
Huskies had a field goal at 5:57.
On 3rd down they just missed a
touchdown. It looked the receiver
came up short however it was
ruled an incomplete pass.

At the 3:40 the Huskies brought
in backup quarterback Elijah Brown.
He threw a shovel pass to wide
receiver Trez Davis for a two yard
touchdown at 1:10 remaining in
the game and that was it.

On the sidelines head coach Jedd
Fisch after the game. It was
improvement however they will
need to do better next week at
home in the opening game against.
Minnesota next Saturday. Go Dawgs.

Washington State Cougars Win Home Opener

The Cougars won by a land slide 48-7.
The first half  wasn't quite this way
being up 14-7 at half however the
more talented team prevailed.

The Cougars had three touchdown
in the third quarter with quarterback
Pinnick throwing for two and a 58
yard run on top of that. The defense
had a lot do with it as well.

It became a laugher in the 4th quarter
when the Cougars ran back two punt
returns by two different returners which
seldom happens.

The Cougars had 525 total yards with
two running backs going over 100 yards
and 329 rushing yards total . Duquesne
had only 180 total yards with only 75
yards passing and completing only
50 percent of their passes.

The only areas to improve is in  scoring
in the first half and reducing penalties
from eleven down.

The Cougars will play Arizona next
Saturday in their final nonleague game.
Though this game gave hope the Cougars
will need to continue to improve. Go Cougs.

Coming up will be the Washington Huskies
game which is happening right now and
the Mariners in Colorado against the Rockies.

Mariners Win the 9th

The Seattle Mariners won the series opener
over the Rockies on Friday night.
The final was 5-4.

The Mariners seem not often to make it
easy on themselves.

JP Crawford led off with a home run in
the first inning. With two outs Naylor
singled to make it 3-0.  The Rockies
scored four unanswered runs through
the sixth inning . In the 7th  Canzone
hit a sacrifice fly to tie the game

In the 9th Laz Montes hit a towering
home run. He is one of the missing
players have needed on the season.
Like his countrymen Randy Arozarena
he knows when something needs to
happen. We hope to see more of  it
next year.

The Rockies  were able to get a single
off Munoz  then stole second. The
trouble he got picked off by Munoz
trying to make it to third.  Before that
it looked like the Rockies would at least
tie the game.  Good for the Mariners.

Bryan Woo had some trouble getting
started  in the first inning however
gave one run.  When he left the game
with one out in the 6th inning. He did
give up ten hits however not easy to
pitch in Colorado.

The Rangers won while the Astros lost.
So a  tied for first at the moment. Bryce
Miller will start on Saturday. We hope he
doesn't fail. Go M's.

Preview. Seattle Seahawks at Arizona

Sam Darnold will be out for the game
this weekend. Reports are that his
injury will keep him out for three to
six weeks. Without more news on it
we could say four weeks would be back.

Drew Lock will start for the Seahawks
against the Cardinals. Since he has
been practicing with the first unit he
will be prepared to play. He will feel
more comfortable.

Jalen Milroe will be now be the backup
quarterback. Most likely won't play
unless Drew gets hurt. Ty Okada cornerback
will miss game two as well.  Nick Emmanwori
did have some practice this week however
be a game time decision if he plays or not
Cardinals tight end Trey McBride is someone
to reckon with. The Cardinals use him like
a eude receiver sometimes. His physical
size Nick Emmanwori is the best Seahawks
player to go one on one. If Emmanwori isn't
able to play it will be harder on the defense

Good news Tory Horton practiced this week
so he will be back after being out for some
time last season and last week. So he should
be the 4th receiver and be on special teams.
He is a talented player.

The Seahawks are favored in Arizona at
4.5 points. Both teams won their season
openers do they are tied along with the
49ers after week one. Since it is  a divisional
game it is important to win though at this
time of the year not as much for the Seahawks
For Arizona playing at home it will be more
difficult for them if they lose. Splitting a series
between two division members is the most
important though taking both is more ideally.

Cardinals cornerback Garrett Williams is
ruled out in this game. They have six players
currently are questionable

The important thing for the Seahawks Drew
Lock has very few turnovers  and less
penalties that could stall them on offense
and or allow the Cardinals to stay on longer.
Go Hawks.

Preview Duquesne at Washington State

The Washington State Cougars are at
home for the first time on the season
at Martin Stadium. This is the first game
they are favored in too. A good thing
being at home.

The Cougars are favored by 35.5 points
in this game. After playing against two
of the nations top defenses this will
allows to see how the offense goes.
The Cougars did show especially against
the Huskies they may have a very good
defense.

The Cougars opponent is 0-2 on the
season. Opener was against Air Force
losing 34-0. Game two they lost to a
very good Youngstown State in a blow
out 70-13. So the Cougars should be
able to correct the passing game trouble
in this one.

The following week the Cougars are at
home against former Pac-12 opponent
Arizona. See how this one helps them
next week. Go Cougs!

Preview Eastern Washington at Washington

This coming Saturday the Washington
Huskies take on Eastern Washington.

The Huskies had a media conference
on Wednesday.  Besides some coaches
there were several players speak too.

Head Coach Jedd Fisch said that he
is confident that the offense line and
the running game is correctable. I am
not sure that is a big endorsement.

Any way the Washington Huskies though
they are 2-0 on the season they didn't
match or come close to how much they
 were favored.  Against Eastern Washington
they are favored by 42.5 points.  Just I am
skeptical they will come close  to scoring
that many points.

In any case it would be nice if the Huskies
can run for a hundred yards to gain the
confidence in the running game. In the
passing game quarterback Desmond
Williams  Jr. last week  completed 26 of
41 passes for 249 yards against Utah
State. Statistically that looks good
however he didn't throw a touchdown
pass. The only touchdown was on a
1 yard run. The Huskies had to settle
for three field goals.

The Huskies sophomore receiver Dezman
Roebuck led them in receiving yards in
last weeks game. He is the closest one
to be the number one receiver. Jordan
Clay a freshman caught a 19 yards catch
to help setup the lone touchdown. Another
freshman wide receiver Trez Davis made
some contributions to and sophomore
tight end Baron Naone . We will keep
an eye on these guys during the rest
of the season.

Eastern Washington has a record of
1-2 on the season with both losses
on the road.  The lone win was at home
in game 2 against Northern Iowa 34-24.
Obviously they have some offensive
power however now they play against
the Huskie defense.  Go Dawgs!

Nice the Mariners Didn't Get Swept

Wednesday night the  Mariners beat the
Angels 7-2.  George Kirby had a tough
night and didn't make it through five
innings though he tried.  Kirby had poor
control walking five guys which isn't him.
Also gave up five hits. The Angels weren't
able to take advantage to score more runs.
Probably why they have 58 wins despite
winning the first goes in the series.

Former Mariner Yusei Kikuchi started for
the Angels and control problems too. He
lasted the same as Kirby however the
Mariners were able to score four runs off
him. Kikuchi hasn't done well this season
having a record of 1-6 and an era of 5.02.
Of course it hasn't stopped others pitchers
with similar record to beat the Mariners.

The Mariners did do something in this game
that they haven't done often enough this
season they scored all seven runs without
hitting a home run.

Cal Raleigh was the hitting hero as he had
two hits with three runs batted in. Josh
Naylor  was honorable mention as he drove
in two runs on two hits. Also Randy Arozarena
made honorable mention. Although he didn't
drive in any runs he scored three times.

The Mariners used Andre Munoz in the 9th
although it was not a saved situation. Had
he not pitched in this one and with Thursday
off he wouldn't have pitched four days until
Friday's game.  This allows the Mariners not
to pitch him in Colorado if it isn't a save
situation on Friday.

Bryan Woo will start Friday against Colorado
followed by Bryce . Miller on Saturday and
Kade Anderson on Sunday. The Rockies
haven't announced yet who they will started
in this series.  Go M's.

It's Official The Mariners Lose

Tuesday evening the Mariners lost to
the Angels 2-1 in another close game
in Anaheim.

The Angels scored first in the fifth
inning. The Mariners scored in the
top of the sixth when Dominic Canzone
hit a triple that almost was a home run.
Julio hit a hard double to bring in Canzone
to tie the game. Unfortunately no one was
able to bring him home. The Orioles
scored a run in the bottom of the sixth
on a homer that didn't go over the fence.

Almost the whole month of August we
heard how the Mariners have the easiest
schedule between them, the Astros and
Rangers. The Mariners are playing mostly
teams under .500. The record this month
in this date the Mariners are 6-8.

The Mariners started September winning
the first two games against the Red Sox.
A good beginning and promise.  The Mariners
then lost three out of four to the Athletics
at home. They took two out of three against
the Rangers. Maybe they will be on a role.

Again the Athletics took it to them winning
two out of the three. Now the Mariners lost
both games to the Angels. Wednesday
evening they play again will the Mariners
get swept we will see. Thankfully they don't
play on Thursday.  Friday thru Sunday the
Mariners are in Colorado to play the Rockies.
They should win but will they.

Last year the Mariners missed the World
Series by one swing. The Mariners were
favored to win the division and hopefully
play in the World Series. This year was a
down year for the American League West
the worst in the majors. They could have
won the division easily but they didn't
play any better than anyone.  Going into
these two series against the Athletics
and the Angels they had the best record
against them then any division they face.

The Mariners are now 70-82 with ten games
remaining so they will end the season with
a losing record even if they win all ten games.
Depending how these games go right now
the have a solid D score on the season.

If the Mariners plan to fire Dan Wilson I
hope they do it before Friday.  It would be
nice to fire Dipoto to but they probably
won't. Go M's.

Washington State Cougars Lose Wide Receiver

The Washington State Cougars announced
Monday that their number one receiver Tony
Freeman is out for the season with a torn
ACL. Freeman was also their return man on
special teams.

Freeman was injured in the Apple Cup just
like two of the Huskies running backs were.
The Cougars are looking at a four man
rotation among their wide receivers. Though
they go with three receivers it is possible
they will go with two tight ends more often.
They may have to add one of the less experience
receivers to the group to gain playing time.

The Cougars are much   like Huskies where they
struggling on the offense. Against Kansas State
they threw for only 67 yards while running game
did go over one hundred yards.

The Huskies have struggled more on the running
game though Desmond Williams Jr somewhat in
the passing game too.

Cougars quarterback Caden Pinnick didn't handle
it well in post conference on Saturday.  So on
Monday in his press conference be apologized
on his actions. A transfer he didn't have the
issues at UC Davis.  So we will see how he
and the Cougars do this coming Saturday.
The team they play isn't up to the level of
Washington and Kansas State  defenses.
Go Cougars.

Mariners Lose Again On the Road

September the Mariners were expected to
go on a good winning streak to be in
the race for the playoffs.

The Astros and the Rangers were get
back in the pack since they were playing
s difficult schedule. The Mariners playing
the bottom two teams in the AL West.
The worst division in baseball.

The Mariners came home after winning
two games at Boston. They lost three
out of four against the Athletics in
Seattle.  They followed by beating the
Rangers teo out of three. Something
that would have been good if they
had beaten the Athletics three out of
four instead as expected.

The Mariners are now on the last road
trip of the season. They are playing in
they have been eliminated from the
playoffs like the Athletics and the Angels.

Over the weekend at Sacramento two
of the three against the Athletics they
lost they did at home. The middle game
they beat them 19-1 like a revenge but
Sunday they went right back like have
for a while losing.

On Monday night they play the Angels
im Anaheim. This was the first team
in the American League be eliminated
from the playoffs. The Mariners have
something to play for while the Angels
don't. The Mariners play again as they
have more recently. They might as well
pack in since they are playing this way.

The Angels score two runs in the first
innings which has been common a lot
too. The Angels scored two more in
the third inning.  The top of the 4th
Cal Raleigh hits a three run homer
so here we go the Mariners may win
after all. Kade Anderson has been
struggling in this one unlike his
previous start. He gave up a run
in the bottom of the fifth.  He leaves
with one out.

Cooper Criswell comes in and we
hope  he stops the bleeding however
he gives up another run. The Mariners
are now down by three. How they have
played recently except last Saturday
it would be hard to come back from
a three run deficit.  They are playing the
Angels and have four innings to turn
it around.

The Mariners scored one more run
which isn't enough in the 7th inning.
JP Crawford hits a home run which
shouldn't surprise us.  The weakness
of the Mariners comes up.

Interesting the Mariners have a winning
record at home against lefties at 9-8.
On the road they are now 5-12.  The
Mariners win at home because the pitchers
have a good earn run average. The
interesting thing is they hit better on the
road than at home but they give up a
one run more on the road.

What makes this frustrating is the
Mariners have a record of 70-81.
They have to win all remaining games
which is eleven to go 81-81.  Don't
think it will happen.  Another thing
is the Angels have won only 57
games and the Mariners have won
more games against their division
than any other.

This team not only having problems
overcoming their weaknesses which
I include the management decisions
starting with Jerry Dipoto to Dan Wilson.
Most figure that Dan Wilson will be
fired or he will resign. In my opinion
again Dipoto should too. In fact I like
to see it before this road trip is over.
This way the fans will have something
besides bad memories.

The final score Angels 6 Mariners 4

Logan Gilbert starts on Tuesday the
Angels will start a right hander so
Laz Montes will start it looks like.
He has been one of the bright spots.
I which the Mariners would start him
against some lefties to see if he
can hit against some of them.
Go M's.

Washington Huskies Lose Another Player

The Washington Huskies offense has had
trouble since the beginning of the season
though only two weeks gone by.

After the Apple Cup it was announced
that the teams top two running backs
would miss a bunch of time.

It was announced this Monday that wide
receiver Christian Moss one of the starters
is going to be out two or three months
with a lower body injury. Moss a transfer
player missed spring camp with an injury.
Not sure it is the same.

Neither the running or passing game is
up to what the Huskies expected. After
the game Coach Jeff Fisch said we would
have to look at his part to possibly with
the play calling.

At this juncture it doesn't look like the
Huskies don't have a number one receiver.
Whether they need one of the the passing
game was what they expected. It will be
interesting to see what happens in practice
even before they play Eastern Washington
on Saturday. Even if they win again they
have to have a much better performance
before facing Minnesota the next week
to start the Big Ten schedule. Go Dawgs.

NFC West Three Way Tie

Not only did the Seattle Seahawks win
in week one of the NFL season so did
the San Francisco 49ers who beat the
LA Rams and the Arizona Cardinals
upsetting the LA Chargers.

The Seahawks will be playing the
Cardinals next Sunday in Arizona
so only one team will be undefeated
between the too.

With Sam Darnold out we are hoping
even a better game from Drew Lock.
We hope Darnold be back in week
three however we will get further
news possibly this week. We will get
news on the other guys who missed
week one on the defensive side.

The Cardinals on the other side have
s new starting quarterback this season
in Jacoby Brissett a veteran quarterback
who is in his second season with the
Cardinals.  Brissett actually start 12 games
last year when Murray was out who is
now with Minnesota Vikings.

Brissett did start and play in the second
game in Seattle for the Cardinals. He
completed 22 of 44 passes for  258
yards and two touchdowns.

This well be the first match up for Jadarian
Price  against his running partner at Notre
Dame Jeremiyah Love. Who was the first
running back picked in the first round this
year's draft.  He too will be sharing the
load with Tyler Allgeier. Love had the
Cardinals first touchdown. He carried the
ball 11 times for  41 yards while Allgeier
carried 17 times for  61 yards. They both
averaged almost the same in the game.
Both just under four yards per carry.

Look forward to see how this game goes.
Being in the division it is important to win.
Go Hawks.

Mariners Blow a Lead

Sunday after such a great game on
Saturday the Mariners blow a game
they should have won losing 8-7.

Bryce Miller had his best game in
some time.  He gave up two runs
in the first inning and nothing in
in the next four. I thought it was
s good idea to take him out the
score 6-2  however that was not
the case.

The Athletics scored four runs off
Carlos Vargas and Gabe Speier in
the 7th to tie.  In the 8th Randy
Arozarena  hit a home run however
Munoz gave up two runs in the 9th.

The Mariners are making it hard for
us to root for them. This has to be
the worst September in some time.
The Mariners now go to Anaheim to
play the Angels. The question will
they do better. The Mariners play 13
more games and they have to win
all 13 to have a chance. Go M's.

Seattle Mariners Offense Explodes

The Mariners on Saturday evening
hd likely their biggest offensive
game of the season.

They scored 19 runs on 23 hits
including five home runs.  In the
first inning JP Crawford led off
with a single. Dominic Canzone
hit a home run. In the second
inning Randy Arozarena hit a
three run homer.

In the 4th Michael Arroyo who
dh had his first major league
hit with a double. He scored
on Weston Wilson's single.
Wilson led with five hits.
In the 7th Arroyo had his first
major league home run.

The third and sixth inning were
the only ones they didn't score.
The A's scored once in the third
inning on a throwing error by
pitcher Bryan Woo for the only
run they had. With the lead
Woo went six innings.

Though the odds are not good
for the Mariners to make the
playoffs however we hope this
allows them to go on a good
winning streak.

Bryce Miller will start Sunday
afternoon. He has struggled
pitching for two months so
how long will go we will see.

The Houston Astros lost again
do the Mariners are now five
games behind. Go M's.

Washington Huskies Win But

The Washington Huskies won Saturday
afternoon at home against Utah State
however wasn't as expected.

The Huskies won the scoreboard and
on defense but the offense had a lot
of mix reviews.

Final Washington 16 Utah State 14

The Huskies didn't even score amount of
points as they were favored again. This
was much like the Apple Cup last Sunday.
The main difference Utah State almost won.

Neither team scored in the first quarter
though the Huskies offense had the chance

In the second quarter the Huskies scored
first with a field goal.  It didn't take USU
verty long to take the only lead of the game
scoring a touchdown in less than 30 seconds.
What the Huskies defense didn't do well.

The Huskies took less than five minutes
to score their only touchdown of the game
to take a 10-7  lead into the second half.

Both teams didn't score in the 3rd quarter
either. The Huskies kicked a field goal early
on in the 4th quarter. At 6:28 they kicked
another field goal giving them where  Utah
State would have to score twice to win.

Utah State made a touchdown at 1:50 left
in the game.  Had they kicked a field goal
instead with more time left on the clock
they may have upset the Huskies.

The Huskies weren't able to run out the
clock so under a minute Utah State got the
ball back. The trouble was they had no more
time outs. They got the ball around the 40
yard line in Huskies side of the field but
kicking and making a field goal so they
threw a hail Mary however the Huskies
intercepted the pass for the win.

Head coach Jedd Fisch said when the game
ended that they are 2-0 but dirty. They will
have to go back to the drawing board beginning
with him and trickles down. Next Saturday
the Huskies are again home against Eastern Washington. They usually have a good team.
The Huskies will be favored they will have to
play better to win.

At least the Huskies are not their Big Ten
rival Oregon who were upset Saturday
39-31 by Oklahoma State. Might be the
biggest upset of the season. Oregon still
can win the national championship however
they may have to win all their remaining games.

The Washington State Cougars as expected
lost by a large margin to Kansas State 34-7.
This game started about three hours before
the Huskies game.

The Cougars offense struggled once again.
They had 166 total yards with 65 in the air.
The Cougars only score and touchdown
ended the first half with a interception.

The Cougars quarterback Caden Pinnick
completed only 9 of 20 passes for 65 yards.
He didn't throw any interceptions. He ran
the ball 13 times which was the most on
the team but tied for second with 29 yards.

Next Saturday afternoon the Cougars
will have a home game against Duquesne.
We will have a preview during the week.
We will see whether Pinnick will start
next week depending on his leash.
Go Cougs!

Walk Off Win By A's Friday night

The Mariners continue struggling in
September. The Athletics beat the
Mariners once again in the opening
game of this weekend series.

The game went 10 innings. The
Mariners scored in the top of the
10th with a run however the A's
had a walk off home run in the
bottom of the 10th.

Eduardo Bazardo who has been
struggling lately  came in the 10th
gave up the home run. This is his
third game already in September
and his third home run.

I know some are asking for Dan
Wilson head however Jerry Dipoto
should take accountability for this.

Final Athletics 6 Mariners 5

George Kirby started and went six
Innings giving up nine hits and four
runs. Not quite a quality start.

The Mariners started off the first
with a run then the bottom of the
inning the Athletics scored two.
The Mariners tied it in the second.
The A's took the lead in the 3rd
Inning. The Mariners tied it in  the
sixth by Laz Montes home run.
The score stay the same until the
10th.

This was an opportunity as the
Houston Astros and the Rangers
both lost. The Mariners are still
down by six games with  14 to go.
The Mariners really need to win
however the decisions are not
made correctly..

My thought can't wait until this
season

Preview of the Huskies and Cougars Games

In my opinion the Apple Cup last Sunday
did look like an opening.game for both
teams so another week next time would
be better.

This Saturday the Washington Huskies
are home against Utah State who is
now a member of the Pac-12.  The game
is the same time as the Apple Cup was.

Usually teams like the Huskies play a
team that isn't very good to say the least.
This is the case with Utah State. The
Huskies are favored around 27 points
which is high for a team that didn't play
their best ball in their opener.

At half time of the Apple Cup head coach
Jedd Fisch was not very happy with their
running game. I would say that the passing
from Desmond Williams Jr wasn't that great
either until the 4th quarter.  On social media
the Huskies fans were not very happy with
his play calling. Let's see how that goes
this time.

On Monday Fisch announced that both
the starting and number two running backs
were injured in the Apple Cup so that gives
more of a challenge as they both be out for
a while. At least playing a soft team will
allow the running game to see how much
improvement is this week with different
running backs. The improvement will have
to come from the offensive line.

We were not able to see how good the
receivers were until late in the game so
we hope better things from Desmond
this week in the throwing the ball.

It won't be good for Utah State since
the Huskies have a good defense which
they showed in the Apple Cup so we
could see some turnovers since the
Cougars had some against the Huskies.

Speaking of the Cougars, they play in
the midmorning Pacific time at Kansas
State. Again they are playing on the
road. The Cougars are better than Utah.
State though KSU is favored by almost
as many points as the Huskies are.

Although Cougars will likely not win
need to see improvement from the
Cougars offense. Almost three quarters
of the Apple Cup the Cougars running
and passing game were not good. I
am sure the Huskies defense had a lot
to do with it.

I am sure replacing Pinnick was in the
minds of the Cougars fans at least.
They did change tactics in the 4th
quarter where Pinnick actually ran the
ball with some success. The trouble
was having turnovers when passing
the ball. I would say that the Cougars
begin with running Pinnick in this
game. This might allow them to have
more room for the running backs as
well as passing to the receivers.

The Cougars defense showed better
than expected against the Huskies
for basically with new players and
coaching staff for sure. Now we see
if the defense can keep them below
what the point spread is. Of course
if the offense can put the defense
in good position to do so like making
KSU go on the long field and keep
the turnovers to a minimum.

In both games we hope better results
no matter who wins. Go Dawgs and Go
Cougs.

Mariners Beat Rangers Again

The Seattle Mariners and the Texas Rangers
are both fighting to make the playoffs. The
Rangers have the best shot.

The Rangers have won the season series
so the Mariners couldn't tie the Rangers
to win the division while they can do so
against the Houston Astros. The lead the
Astros and the Rangers have on the M's
make the odds of making the playoffs
as very remote.

The Mariners won the game 4-3 but it
wasn't easy to do.

First thing the Rangers scored two runs
in the third inning when Logan Gilbert
gave up a two run homer and then the
single run in the fifth. Of course that
turned out to be the only runs the Rangers
scored in the game.

What made the odds that the Mariners
would win Rangers veteran  starter
Jacob deGromm  pitched a perfect game
through five innings. At that point he
struck out ten of the fifteen Mariners.
The Mariners have problems scoring
runs.

In the 6th inning Cole Young lead off
with a single off deGromm however
he struck two out of the next three
guys to end the inning.

The Rangers took out deGromm in
the bottom of the 7th inning. They
brought in reliever Jakob Junnis
to face the Mariners. The Mariners
haven't had a great record as of late
to come back to win.  Not even
getting a base runner for five innings.

Junnis ended up hitting Randy Arozarena
then threw a wild pitch. Canzone hit
a single scoring Randy.  Cal Raleigh
hits a single moving Canzone to second.
Julio Rodriguez who we know has
struggled at the plate since the all-star
break hits a home run making it 4-3
Mariners. This was all with no outs.

Josh Naylor strikes out. Cole Young
who sort of started this whole thing
flied out to feel center field. Laz Montes
struck out to end the inning.

Logan Gilbert was able to pitch through
seven innings so he got the win.  He
walked two Rangers and struck out 11.
What an awesome game he pitched too.

Gabe Speier pitched the 8th giving up
a hit and striking out two.

Andre Munoz game in the 9th and got
the save but made it really interesting
since he walked two batters. This game
sort of has the same ring as Wednesday
night  win by the Seahawks. The difference
is their opening game of the season.

The Mariners are now 69-78 with 15 games
remaining in the season.  The Phillies didn't
help the Mariners or the Rangers for that
matter losing Thursday to the Astros 2-1.

The Mariners are still six games behind
the Astros while the Rangers are three.
The Astros have 75 wins.  Using the
criteria of 81 wins the Astros only need
to win five of their remaining 15 games
while the Mariners need to win 12.
Still not great odds.

The Rangers are at 72 wins so they
would need nine wins and they have
the tie breaker against the Astros and
the Mariners.  If you are a betting person
the odds would be good if the Mariners
win the division. As we see it doesn't
look good.

Friday the Mariners start a three game
series against the Athletics in Sacramento.
Last week the Athletics beat the Mariners
three of the four games. We have to keep
our hopes up since we are fans but still
a miracle needs to happen.

Until Friday night have a good one. Go M's.

Seahawks Sam Darnold Out Game 2

Sam Darnold went to the hospital in
the third quarter. He ended up staying
overnight and released in the morning.

The hospital took a MRI and his hip
isn't too serious where he will be out
got a long time.  They know that he
be out for game two at Arizona.

It is a tricky situation. He will be going
thru physical therapy so all depends
how his body responds.

Drew Lock will take the snaps with the
first unit when they get back to practice.
Lock had a good game under the circum
-stances so  should be fine.

No other player got hurt in the game
so we will who see who missed the game
whether they be ready to go.

Seahawks Win In Amazing Fashion

Sometimes an end to a game is worth
watching.  The Seahawks lost quarterback
Sam Darnold ealy in the game when he
was sacked by Patriots on the fifth play
of the game withs hip injury. At this point
don't know if he will play a week from
Sunday against Arizona.

Backup Drew Lock had to play the rest
of the game.  After the game he said
his thinking was to protect the ball.

The Patriots took a ten point lead  close
heading into the 4th quarter.  The Seahawks
scored 13 straight points.  They had two
interceptions that helped them to get there.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba had the lone touchdown.
He was quiet for a while though he had
eight receptions.

The Seahawks had the opportunity to
score a second td to take a good lead
put penalties cost them which happened
often on the night so settled for the 3
points.

Under 30 seconds left in the game the
patriots had the opportunity to at least
tie with a field goal however quarterback
Drake Maye tried to win the game throwing
near the sideline in the end zone but
Seahawks cornerback  Josh Jobe intercepted
the ball to win the game. The Seahawks
ran the clock out on two plays.

Jadarian Price started the game as the
running back. He had ten carries on the
night for 52 yards.  He had two catches
as well. George Holani had eight carries
for 29 yards. At least two were when
they had short yardage.

For three quarters the Seahawks offense
especially looked like they hadn't played
in preseason. Lock played in two preseason
games which I am sure helped.

The NFL game be Thursday with the 49ers
and Rams playing in Melbourne Australia.
The winner will be tied for the NFC West
Division with the Seahawks.

We have to see what more happens in
the next 16 games ahead. Go Hawks.

Kade Anderson Gets His First Major League Win

Kade Anderson was able to go six innings
to receive his first major league win.
Cal Raleigh said he was getting stronger as
the game went along.

Kade gave up one run in the second inning
which was a home run and nothing after
that.  He gave up six hits, one walk and
five strike outs. If Kade can do that more
times than not the Mariners should take
it.

The Mariners tied the game in the bottom
of the 2nd. Cal had a walk in the second
on nine pitches. Taylor Ward singled him
in with two outs.  In the 4th inning the
Mariners scored two runs on a double
by Cole Young. Unfortunately they only
had two hits against the Rangers bullpen
the rest of the way.

Corey Seager hit a home run in the 8th
inning for the Rangers to come within
one. Andre Munoz shut the door in the
9th for another save. He ended the game
on a strike out with his change up.
Something  he has gotten better this
season besides relying on his fastball
and slider.

Final Mariners 3 Rangers 2

Thursday the Mariners will see if they
can win the series with Logan Gilbert.

Coming up next is how the Seahawks
do Wednesday night at home against
the New England Patriots. Go Hawks.

Mariners Lose At Home Again

The Mariners continue having trouble
in the current homestand losing 10-5.
Makes it 1-4 with two games remaining.

The Mariners are on must need to
win but hard to find at the moment.
Bryce Miller started and still struggling
went only into the four inning getting two
outs.

Corey Seager hit a home run in the
first inning for the Texas Rangers.
The Rangers scored one in the 2nd.
No problem in the third though.
Bryce gave up two more in the
4th.

The Mariners were facing a left handed
starter which they have had trouble
against all season.  The Mariners
decided to start Laz Montes a left
handed bat at dh.  He hit a three run
homer to make it close down 4-3.

Jose Ferrer came in for Bryce
in the 4th and getting the final.
He started the 5th surrendering
a hit though got the first out
of the inning.  Eduardo Bazardo
came in for Ferrer. He has had
trouble giving up home runs
and he gave up two the Rangers
in the 5th.  five runs were scored.
So 9-3 and making it very hard to
come back to win.

The Rangers scored their last
run in the 7th.  Dominic Canzone
hit a double scoring Randy Arozarena.
in the 8th and  Randy hit a sacrifice
fly in the 9th. Josh Naylor scored.
The Mariners ended up using six
relievers.

Wednesday the Mariners and Rangers
play a day game since the Seahawks
and Patriots play in the evening.

Kade Anderson makes the start
He will be on a pitch count. We hope
that he will make it through five
innings at least.

The Mariners using six innings
means only three who didn't
pitch in this one.  Since Kade
is a lefty means that Seranthony
Dominguez will likely come in
for him.  Lefty Gabe Speier who
didn't pitch either most likely
will go too.  Closer Munoz will
likely pitch too. The Mariners
may need to use someone who
pitched Tuesday unless they
activate a pitcher from the minors.

Depending on the score if the
Mariners do activate another
pitcher that pitcher could come
in for Kade Anderson.

The Tacoma Rainiers are at home
this week against El Paso for
the final homestand of the season.
So Mariners could bring someone
up from there.   I thought possibly
the Mariners could bring up another
top prospect Ryan Sloan from
Arkansas however he started
Sunday.  If he is called up likely
won't be until the Mariners go
on the road to play in Sacramento
this weekend against the A's.

The Mariners now have 17 games
remaining on the season. For the
Mariners to make it  to 81-81 they.
will have to go 14-3. It will be hard
to do as how they are playing down
the stretch.

The Houston Astros beat the
Phillies this evening 6-5. They
have 17 games remaining as
well. They only have to go
7-10 to reach 81wins. Though
the Mariners are not mathematically
out of it yet things don't look
good.  Making it as a wild card
is likely more difficult. Go M's.

Seahawks Injury Report Into Game One

The Seahawks have three safeties on
the active roster.  Starter Ty Okada
likely going to miss the game with a
hamstring.

Second year safety Nick Emmanwori
had ankle surgery during camp. He
likely play at least some of the game
hopefully. Though listed as safety
Nick can be seen all over the defense
in the same manner as Devon Witherspoon.
This means that the Seahawks often
do not take players out on either passing
or running plays by the opposition.

The Seahawks have four safeties on the
practice squad. A team can only activate
two players in a given week  from the
practice squad.  There are six players
each week that are selected from the
53 man roster not be activated for a
game.

So the Seahawks will likely activate
two safeties from the practice squad.
Most likely Rodney Thomas II and
D'Anthony Bell who are the most
veteran of the four.  This could come
down to what the four bring to the
table.

Two other Seahawks players on the
53 man roster who could be inactivate
for game one is wide receiver Tory
Horton who has had to deal with a
hamstring injury and offensive lineman
Josh Jones with a knee injury. The
Seahawks do have ten offensive
lineman on the roster. If he is inactive
means they will have four remaining
lineman as backups.

The Seahawks  have ten defensive
lineman on the roster so we could
see one of them inactive and the
same goes for linebackers and
edge rushers.

Generally the Seahawks start two
inside and outside linebackers each
with three lineman.  Again with the
versatility of Witherspoon and
Emmanwori one or the other could
come inside on any given down.
They could come in on the rush.

Though there are others who have
dealt with nagging injuries the rest
should be ready to go.

Washington Huskies Lose Top Two Running Backs

Sunday's Apple Cup the Washington Huskies
running game didn't look so good. Was that.
the Cougars defense or the Huskies need
more work at the position?

Monday head coach Jedd Fisch announced
that the Huskies number one running back
Quiad Carr will be out for some time as he
had surgery to his hand. Jayden Limar who
transferred from Oregon is the second running
back who grew up Seattle is a senior and
injured an elbow. Depending on their return
Carr could add another year to eligibility
and Limar could come back next year too.

Trey Cooley a graduate student attended
Troy last year but injuries caused him to
miss the season. Previous be was at
Georgia Tech and Louisville. He will
get most of the carries as  his two backups
are  freshmen in Brian Bonner Jr. and
Ansu Sanoe.  At least they all should
get playing time in practice before this
Saturday's game against Utah State.

Utah State is one of the new teams in
the Pac-12 conference.  They were beat
by Idaho State  29-17.  Turnovers were
the major for the loss..Idaho State is
a member of the Big Sky Conference.

Utah State isn't considered a good team
getting the running game  going will be
important. The Huskies first three games
are none league then they begin the
Big Ten conference at the end of September
against Minnesota also at Husky Stadium.

Seeing comments from some Huskies fans
they didn't think much of coach Jedd Fisch
play calling.  Being the first game I am
sure he was trying to feel out the Cougars
defense. We could see more of quarterback
Desmond Williams Jr. running the ball too.

Since the passing game didn't start out
good for the Huskies against the Cougars
maybe passing first could be a good idea.
It may open holes for Desmond and Trey.
Go Dawgs.
.

What Should The Mariners Now

We all know that the series the Mariners
had just with the Athletics is the low
point of the season. We expected them
to win three out of four however it the
A's instead. They looked more like what
the Mariners should have.

At least Bryan Woo went eight innings
of shutout baseball giving up one hit.
That was a good thing since the offense
muster up two runs on seven hits. The
Mariners actually looked good in the 4th
inning with the two runs however went
silent after that.

The Mariners brought infielder Michael
Arroyo up from triple A Tacoma. Since
they were facing a lefty he started in
place of  Cole Young. He did have the
opportunity to drive in some runs with
the bases loaded but struck out. He
must have watched too many Mariners
videos. Give him the benefit of the doubt
being his first game.

The Mariners start a three game series
against the Texas Rangers beginning on
Tuesday. The Mariners are 67-77 with
18 games remaining on the regular season
schedule. Finishing 81-81 the Mariners have
to win 14 games.  Doesn't look good.
The Mariners long winning streak was in
late May win they won 8 straight. They have
to begin there to have a fighting chance.

The Rangers are four games ahead of the
Mariners so sweeping them would be ideal.
The Mariners play next weekend against
the A's in Sacramento. The Mariners need
to do what they almost did to them in
Seattle by sweeping them. That would be
six of the eight.

The minor league seasons are almost
over. Ryan Sloan seems to be the best
one to bring up next.  He could be in
the bullpen and the Mariners could use
him as a piggy back with Kade Anderson.

We do know the Mariners will need to
make changes during the off-season
no matter what these last 18 games
go.  The changes should start with
the front office and working their way
down.  For many fans selling the team
might be the best place to start.

The Seahawks were sold at $9.6 billion.
The San Diego Padres and the Angels
were sold for a couple billion below the
Seahawks do this could be a good time.
We are hoping the Sonics will return
to the NBA.

The Mariners showed this weekend
that the fans are going to games despite
losing.  I am sure most of the season
fans were hoping for the team they were
expecting. Without some turnover it
would be hard to see fans coming at the
same rate at the beginning of the season.

At this point with having to sign a new
collective bargaining agreement we have
no idea when the season begins. At least
with the front office and coaching staff
that could happen soon.

We do know that Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez
and Josh Naylor will be the big three to
return. Also the season Dominic Canzone
and Cole Young too.   Kade Anderson will
be there too along with Colt Emerson.
Andre Munoz out of the bullpen. The Mariners
will have to work on the rest of it.  Most of
the starting rotation will return though they
haven't done will in the past month. Someone
could be traded however with the CBA
it is hard to know how much time they will
have to do so we will see.

Besides these last 18 games the next
six months should be interesting for
the Mariners. We hope the season will
begin around April 1.  Not a joke I hope.

Washington Huskies Win Apple Cup

First thing can next year the Apple Cup
not be the opening game of the season.

The Washington Huskies offense didn't
look like it will be. Most of the game the
Huskies defense was good.

Final Washington 24  Washington State 10

The best quarter was the 4th quarter.
More excitement than in the other three
It looked like a bad opening game and
not so much as a rival game.

The Huskies are the better team however
the Cougars looked good on defense.

Lack of a running game other than qb
Desmond Williams Jr.   Also penalties
killed them.

The Cougars offense was inconsistent
until the 4th quarter however they had
 turnovers.

I think both teams will be better as the
season goes on.

Washington plays Utah State next Saturday
in Seattle at 12:30pm.  Utah State lost to
Idaho State Saturday 29-17.  The Huskies
should win easily if they can run the ball
and lose the penalties.

The Cougars will play Kansas State on
their field next Saturday at 9:00 am
Pacific time.  Kansas State beat Nicholls
Saturday 71-3. The Cougars are much
better than Nicholls however it will be
a challenge and show how good they are.

Mariners End Losing Streak

The Seattle Mariners beat the A's in a disappointing
series on Sunday 2- 0 taking only one of four
games.

Bryan Woo may have had his best game of
the season. He went eight innings  giving
up one hit while walking two and striking
out nine. Andre Munoz got the save in
the 9th giving up no hits.

The  Mariners scored both runs in the 4th
inning when they hit five singles in a row.
In all they had seven hits.

The Mariners brought up rookie  Michael
Arroyo and he made his debut. He played
second base however had no hits.
Patrick Wisdom was sent to Tacoma.

The Mariners have Monday off then
have a three game series against the
Texas Rangers. The Mariners really
need to sweep them to stay in contention
for the playoffs.

Mariners Lose Again

For the third game in a row the Seattle Mariners
lose to the A's at home.  The final 6-2.

The Mariners didn't score a run until the
8th and 9th.  Jeffrey Springs went seven
innings giving up only two hits both to
Cal Raleigh. Gave up no runs.  I heard
excuses that he has always pitched well
against the Mariners though this season
his era is over six runs a game. Last night
they faced a pitcher who hasnt had a good
season either.

George Kirby went six and two-thirds giving
up four runs with three being earned. Mike
Rucker gave up the other two runs when he
came in for Kirby.

Cal actually had three hits so another one
after Springs left the game. The Mariners
had a total of six hits.

The A's have the worst bullpen in the majors
so not a surprise the Mariners were able
to score at the end.  Arozarena, Canzone
and JP Crawford had the other hits. Not a
big surprise.  Canzone had the only rbi.

We hope the Mariners will have some dignity
to win the final game of the season. Go M's.

Mariners Lose Critical Game

The Seattle Mariners who needed to
win this series at home against the
Athletics lost for the second straight
night.  Final Athletics 7 Mariners 6

The Mariners started it off by scoring
two runs in the bottom of the 2nd
inning however it was short lived.
In the 3rd inning Logan Gilbert who
has been their best starter recently
and looked good in the first two innings
gave up four home runs and five runs.

In the bottom of the third Cal Raleigh
hit a home run to tie.  The 4th inning
neither team scored. Unfortunately
Gilbert gave up two runs and left
with two outs in the fifth.  One of
the two runs scored Laz Montes
crashed into the right field fence
with the batter gettings a triple.

He ended up scoring the second
run.  Laz stayed in the game however
when Logan left the game they took
Laz out the same time for precaution.
The X-ray showed being negative.
He might be back in the series. If so
probably be as dh.

The bullpen did a good job not
giving up a run at all. A good sign
after struggling  recently.

The Mariners scored a run in
the 8th to make it close.  Munoz
pitched the 9th getting all three
batters.

In the bottom of the 9th Patrick
Wisdom lead of pinch hitting.
Not a good move in my opinion.
Randy Arozarena walked Wisdom
was out. Dominic Canzone hit
s short grounded for the second
out. The only good thing Arozarena
moved.  Julio who has struggled
at the plate popped out to end the
game.

The Mariners will need to win
the final two games of the series
to have any chance to make the
playoff. Let see what happens.

Look At Seattle Seahawks First Opponent

The Seahawks start their season against
the New England Patriots who they beat
in the Super Bowl.  Expect both teams
ready to go.

The Patriots are expected by the experts
to win at least ten games.  They are playing
eight teams who were in the playoffs last
year including the Seahawks and division
rival Buffalo Bills.   The Seahawks are
expected to win around  11 games.

It looks like backup running back TreVeyon
Henderson maybe among the injured and
likely won't play. We will have see.

It will be interesting how the Patriots come
out. Quarterback Drake Maye is expected
to have a stellar season. The Mariners plan
to have that after week one.  They confused
him in the Super Bowl so he will likely be
better than in that game. The Seahawks will
have other plans.  Best to stop the running
game so he will have to throw more. The
Seahawks top defense players like Devon Witherspoon will be on different sides of
the ball and Leonard Williams will look to
stack the line too.  A big keys is on first
and second down.  Turnovers be at a
minimum.

The Patriots acquired AJ Brown in the
off-season be someone for the Seahawks
look at.   The Patriots have a new defensive
coordinator in   Zak  Certain. Also they.
have former Seahawks Dre'mont Jones.
Since it is a copy league could see some
looks like the Seahawks. Most likely a lot
of  teams will.

The Seahawks with their new ownership
group they have added 12 additional
coowners.  Not a big surprise with the
cost of the team.  We will hear more
from the new owners than Paul Allen
or his sister Jody.  I don't think a big
deal.  Go Hawks.

Mariners Lose Opener To A:s

The Seattle Mariners scored three runs
in the first inning however it was silent
until the sixth when they scored a run
again..

Out new folk hero Laz Montes drove in
the last run of the first. The A's scored
a run in the second too.

Kade Anderson went five innings giving
up four runs. Mistake I believe made was
not taking him out after two runners got
on base in the 5th.

Final Athletics 7 Mariners 4

Outside of that the Mariners struck out 18 times
A couple innings had runners in scoring position but
couldn't come through.

Friday Logan Gilbert will pitch. Don't know yet for the
A's.  Go M's.

.

Laz Montes Should be in the Lineup Thursday

Laz Montes had a great opening game
when he started for his first game on
Wednesday night walking, single and
home run with 2 rbis.

Some fans and media were upset
that he didn't start against a lefty on
Wednesday against the Red Sox.
Fortunately the Mariners won which
they have had problems winning
against lefties.  Maybe having Montes
in the clubhouse and on the bench
helped anyways.

The Mariners start a four game series
against the A's starting Thursday evening.
Thursday  the A's are starting a right
hander in the game so we should see
him starting. I expect he will dh again.
I look forward to see him in the outfield
at some point.

Friday and Saturday games it hasn't been
announced who will start for the A's.
Sunday's game the A's are starting a lefty.
Depending how Montes is playing it
would be nice to see him in the game.
Comes down to starting as well.

When it comes to Brendan Donovan no
news yet whether he will be activated
today or in this series.  Stay tuned.
Go M's.

Update Montes is in right field while
Canzone at dh.      No  Brendan Donovan
yet. What is taking so long.

Mariners Take Series

The Seattle Mariners took care of the
Boston Red Sox beating them 8-3.

Though he wasn't able to finish the
5th inning  Bryce Miller did pitch better
than over the past month. He gave up
seven hits however one run and gave
up only one walk. Jose Ferrer came
in to get the final out in the 5th.

Mike Rucker gave up two runs in
the second inning he pitched. Maybe
they should have taken him after giving
up a hit. Runs can come in spurts in
Fenway Park.

Seranthony Dominguez pitched the
8th  and Cooper Criswell who recently
returned from the injured list. Neither
one gave up a hit or walk. For the
Mariners to win in September these
two could be a key coming out of the
bullpen as well as Carlos Vargas. This
will help Bazardo who has struggled
recently.

The Mariners scored their runs in
two innings.  The 3rd and 6th they
scored four runs in each. The Mariners
didn't hit a home run either. Played.
small ball which is easier to do in
Fenway Park.  They have had harder
trouble at T-MOBILE.

The bottom three in the batting order
did the job scoring five runs. Though
he didn't get a hit  Cole Young batting
6th did score a run. Weston Wilson,
JP Crawford and Jhonny Pereda
certainly did the job. The Mariners gave
Cal the day off. Pereda keep playing
like this maybe the Mariners can give
Cal a couple days off a week.

The top four of the order Arozarena, Canzone
Julio, and Naylor each drove in a run.
Canzone and Julio each scored too.

Although it was a losing road trip it was
better than it could have been. The Mariners
are four and a  half behind the Astros
who are ready  to play the White Sox.

The Mariners come home to play four
against the A's beginning Thursday.
It would be nice to win three out of
four though since wins are important
in September.  Kade Anderson starts
Thursday followed by Logan Gilbert,
George Kirby and Bryan Woo. Go M's.

The Apple Cup Coming Up This Sunday

The last time the Huskies and  the  Cougars
played in Husky Stadium the Cougars won
in 2024.  Things have changed a lot for
both teams.

Jedd  Fisch was new to the program and
he had a lot of new players to Seattle.
The Huskies just joined the Big Ten.

This time  things were close to what
happen to the Huskies in 2024. There is
a new Pac-12 along with   new  head
coach and a lot of players transfered
out of Washington State.

Steve the moment the new Pac-12 isn't as
good as the Big Ten. With a school like
Boise State who is favored to win the
conference it could become really good
too.
Tree
A few months ago Jedd Fisch said that
head coaches should stay as long as
there contract. If he stands by his word
he can be in Seattle for a while.

The Washington Huskies men's basketball
team doesn't start practice for about three
more weeks. He is busy trying to recruit
for both 2027 and 2028 for incoming
freshmen.

We see how the team will be this coming
season.ast year they had to deal with a
lot of injuries.  Go Dawgs.

Seahawks Face Patriots Next Wednesday Night

Although the Seahawks dominated the
New England Patriots winning by 16
points in the last Super Bowl the Seahawks
right now are favored by only 3.5 points
in the opening game next Wednesday
night at Lumen Field in Seattle.

I can only think the 3.5 point favorite since
it is opening  game of the season and or
the Seahawks are being disrespected.
The Seahawks have a few players  no
longer on the roster especially starters.
Most notably is running back Kenneth Walker
III. Of course he had a great games in the
playoffs especially the Super Bowl and
we will have to see how the running game
goes.

Jadarian Price first round pick is the notable
change replacing Ken Walker. George Holani
who played sparingly is in for Zach Charbonnett
who will be out for several games as he recovers
from his surgery.   The offensive line  being
together should improve in the running game.
Sam Darnold second season as the starting
quarterback should improve. The question
should be how much.  The starting receivers
who ended  the season return as well.

The Seahawks defense should  improve
after another year under head coach
Mike MacDonald.  Though they play
a standard defense we can see some new
wrinkles and unexpected changes.

If I were a betting man I would put money
down that the Seahawks will win by more
than 3.5 points.  Any additional news before
next Wednesday we will let you know.
Go Hawks.

Mariners Win Middle Game of Series

The Seattle Mariners Tuesday evening
beat the Red Sox 9-6. The game wasn't
as close as the score shows until late.
The Mariners scored all their runs within
the first five innings.

Bryan Woo went six innings giving up one
run. It was the bullpen that gave up the
other five runs.  The bullpen has had
trouble late in games.

Laz Montes made his debut batting 7th
and at dh.  His first at bat was in the second
inning that helped the Mariners score five
runs when he walked. Arozarena had a three
run homer in the inning.

In the third inning Montes had a single for
his first major league hit and had rbi too.

Seahawks Sign 17 to Practice Squad

By Monday the Seahawks have 17 players on
the practice squad. At some point many of
them will play in some games.

The practice squad is made of rookies
and veterans.  Cody White wide receiver
was not one of them so he is a free agent.
Other teams can select players anytime
to put on their active roster from other
teams. There is a possibility a player
could be activated .

Each week the Seahawks can activate
two players from the practice squad.
48 players are available to suit up
however if the two players from practice
squad are activated then 46 players
are available from the roster. Since five
players are normally  not suited for the
game.  Also an emergency Quarterback
is available to which I am not sure that
Jalen Milroe is since the Seahawks may
use him on occasion when they are in
the red zone. They may have plays  set
up for his running ability. He was used
a few times last year however now in
his second season could be used more
often.   Drew Lock will likely play if
Sam Darnold gets hurt or the game
where the score puts the team way
ahead in the 4th quarter. Wouldn't that
be nice to happen in the season's opener
next Wednesday night.

The Seahawks have six offensive players
plus international player center Fredrico
Maranges center from Brazil.   Logan Brown
as offensive tackle, three wide receivers
including  veteran Rickey White III and
rookie Emmanuel Henderson Jr. Also
two running backs.

The remaining ten are on defense. Three
cornerbacks including Trevon Diggs.
Three safeties too.  Three defensive
lineman and  linebacker Marvin Jones
Jr.

It would be nice if major league baseball
would have a practice squad in similar
fashion. Of course the amount would be
much less. I would say possibly four players.
I would go for two pitchers, a position and
a catcher. The catcher be available for
emergency.  This would allow the teams
not to put players on the injured list unless
they wouldn't be available and  go on the
ten day injured list.

Trevon Diggs and More

The Seahawks decided to cut veteran
cornerback Trevon Diggs then signed
him to the practice squad. According to
general manager John Schneider have
one game and a few practices they felt
not to start him on the opening of the
season.  Depending on how the three
back up corners do and how he is doing
in practice he will be activated at some
point.  The possibility is the Seahawks
will be going with all three of the safeties
in regular rotation.

We will let you know who else be activated
to the practice squad and who the Seahawks
may pick up.

News came out late Sunday afternoon
the Mariners are calling up outfielder
Laz Montes from triple A Tacoma and
he will be activated on Tuesday when
the roster expands to 28 players. Another
pitcher should be activated as well.

How much Montes will play is anyone's
guess.  They have Canzone in right field
along with Arozarena in left. So Montes
and Canzone could alternate when facing
lefties. Canzone will likely dh when facing
lefties.  They still have Taylor Ward as
the right handed bat in right field or dh.

Being swept by the Blue Jays may put
changes in the lineup. It will depend
on the series beginning Monday against
the Red Sox in Boston for three games.
things in change of how often

Seahawks 53 man Roster Announced

Sunday the Seattle Seahawks  named their
53 man roster.  It will be interesting who
they name to the 16 man practice squad.
Also the roster could change before the
Seahawks opening game on September 9.

On offense the Seahawks are again going
with the same three quarterbacks as last
season.  Friday's game with  Jalen Milroe
at the helm showed to be the third qb.

The Seahawks are going with three
running running backs in  Jadarian Price,
George Holani, and Emanuel Wilson who
they acquire during the off-season. Brady
Russell as the sole fullback.

Five receivers with Tory Horton and Montorie
Foster Jr.  as the 4th and 5th receivers.

The offensive line is made up of ten.
Christian Haynes made the team  though
there questions whether he would make it.
Also fifth round pick Beau Stephens
made it too.

Defensive line the reserves will be
Rylie Mills,  Mike Morris and  Brandon
Pili. In total six lineman.

There are ten linebackers.  Earnest
Jones IV and Drake Thomas will be
the starting inside linebacker.
Demarcus Lawrence and Uchenna
Nwosu as the outside linebackers.
Derrick Hall who signed a new contract
in the off-season is primary edge rusher.

Five cornerbacks with Julian Neal,
Nehemiah Pritchett,  and Avery Smith
a rookie they acquired from the LA
Chargers on Sunday.

Three safeties in Nick Emmanwori,
Julian Love and Ty Okada.

Next let you know who makes the
practice squad and those let go
all together who might be  known
names. Go Hawks.

Mariners Swept By the Blue Jays

Sunday the Seattle Mariners were  beaten
and swept by the Blue Jays.  Often the Mariners
have done well in Toronto but not this time.

This frustrating since the Mariners didn't hit well
at all in this series. They had the opportunity to
win Saturday but not on Sunday.

Final  Blue Jays 7 Mariners 0

Cal Raleigh had the only hit in the game
which was a double that almost went out.

Logan Gilbert went five innings   giving
up three runs which might have been
enough if the Mariners did score.
Gabe Speier pitched the 6th giving up a
home.  Nick Navila who was recalled
with Emerson Hancock going on the
injured list after being hurt early on
Friday's game.  Navila gave up the
final three runs in the 8th. The low
leverage relievers haven't done well
recently though lack of offense was the
issue.

Max Scherzer who has had a good
career though no a good season
went seven innings and struck out
ten Mariners.  He ended up passing
 former  Mariners Gaylord Perry into
9th place on the all-time for strike outs.

Again a terrible series for the Mariners.
If they don't make the playoffs this will
be a major reason. The Mariners now
go to  Boston to take Red Sox. Not a
good sign.  Go M's.

Later let you who the Seahawks didn't
make the opening roster at this point.
Won't mention everyone but a few that
maybe known names.

Blue Jays Beat Mariners Again

The Seattle Mariners and the Blue Jays
had a mid afternoon game in Toronto.

The Mariners scored first which they
often don't. Cal Raleigh who loves to
hit home runs in Toronto had a solo
home run the second inning.

In the 4th inning the Mariners were
able to load the bases then Taylor Ward
who had been struggling hit a single
to score Josh Naylor and Cal Raleigh.
Unfortunately the Mariners bats went
dry after that.

Kade Anderson making his second
start got off well then in the 5th
inning was only able to get one out
and gave up two runs.  It is still
adjustment for Anderson but certainly
showing good signs.

Bazardo finished the 5th though giving
up a couple outs.  The Jays got two
more runs off Jose Ferrer who came
in the 6th inning.  Ferrer gave up a walk
then was to get two outs before surrending
another walk. After that two singles in
a row scoring the two final runs for Blue
Jays win.

Carlos Vargas came in after that and went
two more innings after the final out in the
6th inning. He gave the Mariners a chance
to win  without giving up a hit.

Now the Mariners will have to see if they
can salvage the series by winning Sunday.
It will be important game before going to
Boston to play the Red Sox who have been
playing well after getting off to a poor start.

The Red Sox before catching on fire were not
playing well at home but have been all season
the road. Now though they are two games
over .500 at home on the season. This doesn't
look good for the Mariners.

At this point the Mariners schedule is easy
in September however they will have to win
most of those games.  Having Vargas back
in the bullpen helps and Matt Brash is starting
to throw. Also Cooper Criswell is on rehab
assignment at the moment.

The Mariners are expecting Brendan Donovan
back anytime off the concussion injured list.
He is with the team right now. Hopefully play
Sunday and if not in Boston. Go M's

Seahawks Final Preseason End In Tie

The finals score  for Friday game was 9-9
Jason Meyers tried a long field goal at the
end but went too much to the right.

Jalen Milroe looked much better in this game
than last week. See what he does in the future.
Not easy when your playing with guys your not
used to in practice.

The players especially on defense helped
to make a goal line stand to keep the Chiefs
out of the end  zone. By Sunday we will see
who made the team even by their play in
this game. Those who don't make it could
on another team. We will see for sure.

Now we wait until Wednesday September 9
that Sam Darnold and the gang are ready to
go.  Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose Opener In Toronto

Friday evening the Seattle Mariners lost the
opening game of the series and road trip.
When trying to make the playoffs this wasn't
a good way to get started. Now means they
have to try to win two games in a row.

Final Blue Jays 8 Mariners 1

The Mariners scored their only run in
the first inning when Dominic Canzone hit
s home run. After that the offense went
Second which has happened a lot this
season especially lately.

The Jays responded immediately scoring
three runs in the bottom of the first inning.
Before the scoring which were some luck
on the part of the Jays manager Dan Wilson
and the trainer had to go out to be sure
starter Emerson Hancock was ok. He stayed
in for five innings he gave up two more runs
before leaving. He gave up two home runs
after the fifth inning.

Seranthony Dominguez gave up a home run
in the sixth inning.  Michael Rucker gave up
two runs in the 7th inning. He was out there
in the 8th too.

The Mariners had only four hits only after
Canzone home run. We hope that the Mariners
will bounce back Saturday with Kade Anderson
on the mound.  Go M's.
