Mariners Sweep Rays

The Mariners got off to a great start
scoring four runs and the Rays starter
threw over forty pitches. Some how
he was able to turn things around
and went five in ings.

Cal Raleigh had another home run
making it three in the series. This
one was two-run shot with Arozarena
on base after being hit. The home
run now has tied Cal with Johnny
Bench with 25 and three behind
Salvador Perez for a catcher in a
season.

Julio singled then Josh Naylor
walked. On what was supposed
be a double steal the pitcher
balked. Eugenio singled to bring
both in. The Mariners couldn't get
more runs.

The second, third and fourth the
Rays made it interesting scoring
a run each inning. In the 4th
Ha-Seong Kim hits a home run
to make it interesting. The Rays
didn't get anymore on the night.

Bryan Woo again made it through
six innings  though it was on a tight
rope. He did question the  umpire
strike zone on the night.

In the seventh inning Josh Naylor
hit a line drive home run to right
field to give the Mariners more
of edge. He had a good night
in the field as well with a few
throws coming his way.

In the 8th inning the Mariners got
another insurance run when Dominic
Canzone singled to right field
bringing home Jorge Polanco.

Caleb Ferguson rebounded going
going an inning and two-thirds
facing lefties primarily then Vargas
finishing the 8th. Matt Brash pitched
the ninth to get his third save of
the season. He is now the closer
when Andre Munoz needs a day off.
Acquiring Ferguson helps out now
having two lefties. We see how this
works until September anyway.

The Astros won so they are half a
game ahead of the Mariners who
sent 9-1 on this home stand. Now
we have to see how they do on the
road trip when it starts Tuesday in
Baltimore. The Mariners are now
66-53.   They are at .55. Stay at that
rate they win 90 games. Go M's.

At Tacoma Sunday  they won 5-2 over
Reno.  Luke Raley hit a grand slam in
the first inning to help them win.
Harry Ford didn't play in the game.
