Mariners Pitching

The Mariners made the playoffs this
last season though they had injuries
to their starting staff. Three of the
starters were out some time and
Bryan Woo became injured just
before the playoffs.

Woo didn't play in the series against
the Tigers and went to the bullpen
against the Blue Jays in the American
League Championship series. Had Woo
been able to start the Mariners may
have been in the World Series.
Bryce Miller who had an off season
after being injured and having to go
on the.injured list may have been the Mariners  best pitcher down the stretch.

George Kirby started the season on the
injured list and along with Logan Gilbert
who was out to for several starts were
both inconsistent. You could say the
same for Luis Castillo who was healthy
all season.

We hope for a rebound for all the starters.
Emerson Hancock who now was sent to
the bullpen in September and Logan Evans
were saviors to some point when Kirby,
Gilbert and Miller were on injured list.
Evans could be the one looking in.
Castillo being older could be one that
lands on the injured list.. Does this mean
the Mariners trade him before next season.

When it comes to the bullpen  Andre Munoz
is the closer with Matt Brash his setup man
in the 8th inning. Gabe Speier was the high leverage left handed reliever. The Mariners acquired  Caleb Ferguson at the trading deadline. He was sort off and on.  He usually came in the sixth inning depending how the game was going to face lefties. He is going
to be a free agent and likely going elsewhere.

Trent Thornton started the season season
as the long reliever along with coming in the seventh inning until he was injured and out
for the last season. He wasn't pitching well either. Again very inconsistent. Eduardo Bazardo and Carlos Vargas started the season as the seventh and eighth relievers however the lack of success from Thornton and two others they moved ahead. In fact by September they both had moved to the fifth  and sixth relievers.  At times Bazardo was
used in high leverage situations depending how deep the starters were going.

In September and into the playoffs Emerson Hancock and Luke Jackson were the 7th and 8th relievers. Jackson will be a free agent so he might be gone as well. Not sure about Trent Thornton of his status going into
2026. The Mariners were hoping that Gregory
Santos would share the duties as a high
leverage reliever with Munoz and Brash
however again he missed most of 2025.
I am sure he will be invited to trading camp
but he will have to earn his way.

Since the Mariners will have two spots
open in the bullpen adding a high leverage
to the group and another lefty to replace
Ferguson. Let's see how the pitching
looks going into training camp. Go M's!

The Gonzaga Bulldogs

Gonzaga has a good turnover on
their men's basketball team however
the media for WCC conference have
them winning again in 2025-26
This will be there last season as they
join the new Pac-12 conference next
season.

Graham Ike returns at power forward
as does Braden Huff at center. Huff has
spent most of his career at Gonzaga as
a spart plug coming off the bench
however made a difference late in the
season and March Madness as a starter.

Braeden Smith transferred  last season
however redshirted so he will be
starting at point guard. He previously played at Colgate however he is from Seattle.

Adam Miller transferring from Arizona State
will start at shooting guard. He averaged
9.8 points a game last season. He is a veteran playing four years.

Tyon Grant-Foster will start at small forward.
Last two years played at Grand Canyon College. He was just granted another year
of eligibility.

Jalen Warley a transfer from Florida State
may be the backup at point and shooting
guard. Steele Venters who missed the
last two years after transferring from Eastern
Washington is expected to be the backup
at small forward.  Could see Warley playing too.

It should be another exciting season to
watch Zags basketball. Improvement
from the Huskies and Cougars will make
a good threesome something the state
of Washington deserves with good high
school basketball for many years.

Gonzaga's  non-league schedule begins
this coming Monday against Texas Southern.
They have 23 non-league games with
some strong opponents. I wish the Huskies
and Cougars would do the same to be
ready for conference play.

In December they begin with Kentucky
and will play against UCLA and Oregon
as well. The Ducks will be their last one
before starting WCC play.  Go Zags!

Preview Washington State at Oregon State

This coming Saturday at 4:30 pm
the two teams left of the Pac-12
clash together. It will be the first
of two games between them.
Very unusual for two teams to play
each other in the regular season.
Next year the Pac-12 will have
eight teams.

The Cougars do have four non-league
games.  They play the Apple Cup at
Husky Stadium in September and they
go against former Pac-12 opponent
Arizona as well.

Cougars are 4-4 go into this game while
the Beavers are 1-7 after a win in their
last game.  Both teams have won their
last games.  This is a rival as much as
the Apple Cup for the Cougars. The
Cougars are 2.5 favorites going into
Corvallis. The two teams have had
different seasons.

The Beavers and the Cougars have a close
record in their 79 games they have played
over the years.  The Beavers lead 41-38.
The Beavers have won 8 out of the last
10 games so the Cougars will want to win
badly.

The Beavers are averaging 21.1 points a
game this season while the defense is
giving up 32.8 points.

Malik Murphy a junior who transferred
from Duke is the Beavers starting quarterback. He completed only 58.6%
of his passes for 215.3 yards per game.
He has thrown only nine touchdowns
in eight games while having eight
interceptions. If the Cougars defense
can intercept a pass or more could
help them win.

Anthony Hankerson is the Beavers
primary running back. The senior is
averaging 83.9 yards per game and
has six touchdowns. Backup is redshirt
freshman Cornell Hatcher Jr.  has only
38 carries averaging 6.3 yards per carry
and has two touchdowns..

Senior wide receiver Trent Walker leads
with 48 catches for 608 yards however
doesn't have any touchdown. Sophomore
David Wells Jr. Is second with 27 receptions
for 293 yards however has three touchdowns.
Third receiver is sophomore Taz Reddicks
has 26 catches for 342 yards but no
touchdowns. Tight end senior Bryce Caufield
is next with 18 catches with one touchdown.

A cross state rivalries anything can happen.
The Cougars playing well maybe in going
away. Go Cougs!

Preview Seahawks at Commanders

The Seahawks after winning on Monday
Night football had a bye week. On Sunday
they will play the Commanders in Washington DC on Sunday night football on November 2.

The Seahawks and the Rams are tied for first
place in the NFC West with 5-2 record.
The Rams had a bye as well. The 49ers
lost Sunday to the Houston Texans 26-15
on the road. Arizona Cardinals are still in
last place and had a bye as well.

A Look At Mariners

The Seattle Mariners went further than
most of us thought they would although
we were hoping for. Just one swing
cost them to play the Dodgers in the
World Series.

Now we will see what they will do to
improve the team for next season.
There isn't a lot they have to do. The
experience will help out quite a bit
in the ALCS.

Our catcher Cal Raleigh after signing
a new contract for six years had the
best season a catcher has ever had
offensively. He used Bab Ruth with
60 home runs and shattered the most
ever for a catcher.  Next season we can't
expect the same thing however with Cal
you never know.

As far as the offense goes I hope we see
more doubles. In September the Mariners
did quite well in doubles being led by
Jorge Polanco and Josh Naylor. These
are two we hope will be back next season.

The Mariners do need a first baseman
so Naylor fits the bill. Polanco would be
the regular dh and play second against
some tough lefties to give Cole Young
a day off. This would allow Cal to dh
and Harry Ford to catch.

Ford though he didn't get in a lot of
action in September he did show he
isn't afraid to hit early in the count.
Something they could use more of.
This comes down to how the starting
pitcher is doing early in the game and
against the bullpen a good idea to.

Having Polanco back he could play
first base on occasion as well giving
Naylor a day off. Polanco biggest
issue is staying healthy.

Leo Rivas I could see as the primary
player coming off the bench though
playing second would be his likely
position. Most likely JP Crawford
will be the shortstop though Cole
Emerson is rising in the ranks and
could be on the ball club before
the end of the season.  If Crawford
needed a day off shift Young over
with Rivas at second.

Third base is a spot up in the air.
Can the Mariners afford Eugenio
Suarez as well as Naylor. Would it
be better to have Williamson back
at third. One thing we know is that
Williamson can play defense and
Suarez isn't getting any younger.

In the outfield it looks to be Randy
Arozarena in left though September
and October he didn't hit very well.
Julio who did well both September
and October will be in center.
Right field could be rotation of
Dominic Canzone and Victor Robles.
This will depend how Robles bounces
back after missing most of the season.

Besides Rivas as a utility player the
Mariners will have another one. Do
they stay in house with Mastrobuino
or go out and get one. If they sign
Suarez will Williamson be the extra
man. We will see. Also will Luke Raley
return after a poor season. Stay tuned.

Next time on the Mariners we will look
at the pitching. What changes have to
be made it just a few tweaks. Go M's

Both Huskies and Cougars Win

The Huskies and Cougars both were
favored in close margins however they
won by good margins.

The Huskies scored two touchdowns
in their first two possessions of the
game in the first quarter. Freshman
Dezman Roebuck had the two tds
going for 13 yards. He had only one
other catch in the game.

Illinois countered with a field goal
in their first possession of the game.
The Illini had  the second quarter for
the most part scoring two touchdowns.
At that point it was a tough match.
The Huskies did have a questionable
pass interference call on what looked
like an interception that was turned
over. A couple other interference calls
went against them.   In the second half
a non interference call didn't go in their
way either.

The Huskies though went into their bag
of tricks where wide receiver Denzel
Boston threw a touchdown pass to
running back Jonah Coleman who was
wide open in the end zone to have
the Huskies lead 21-17 at halftime.
The Huskies led the rest of the way.

In the third quarter Jonah Coleman
had a rushing touchdown for seven
yards and the only score of that period

In the 4th quarter Denzel Boston who
had ten catches on the day had his
only touchdown to make it 35-17.
The Illini had another touchdown
and two point conversation to make
the game a ten point difference.
At about just over eight minutes
remaining tight end Decker DeGraaf
had a two yard catch and that road
it all. Final Washington 42 Illinois 25.
The Huskies now have a 6-2 record.
They will go to a bowl game now is
which one.

The Huskies have a bye week before
going to Wisconsin. Go Dawgs!

The game between Washington State
and Toledo in Pullman wasn't as close
as was forecasted.  The Cougars
struggled in the first quarter however
had three touchdowns in the second
quarter.

Quarterback Zevi Eckhaus scrambled
seven yards for the first touchdown
at the 12 minute mark of the second
quarter. He threw two touchdowns
in the last four minutes of the half.
Toledo had their only touchdown
and score of the game just about the
time ran out in the first half

No other scoring happened until
2:21 was left in the game. Cougars
running back Kirby Vorhees went in
for six yards. He had 15 carries for
64 yards. Quarterback Eckhaus has
15 carries as well and led with 74
yards.

Toledo's quarterback Tucker Gleason
actually three more passes and yard than
Eckhaus. He had one interception while
Eckhaus had two. Toledo though didn't
really babe a running game

The Cougars will play Oregon State
next Saturday in Corvallis after having
a bye week this week. It has been a
tough season for Oregon State as they
won their first game of the season at
home against Lafayette 45-13. Before
the game that week they fired their
head coach.  Both teams will face
each other again to end the regular
season in Pullman.  Go Cougs!

Look at WSU Cougars Men's Basketball Team

All three of the top men's basketball teams
in Washington State had major changes
to their teams. Gonzaga lost players
mainly through graduation so we will look
at them coming up in a future post . The Huskies and Cougars had a lot of transfers through the portal. As indicted the Huskies did well in the portal and may have a better team because of it.

The Cougars look like they have to rebuild as they have only three under returnees and
the rest of the roster is pretty young especially at the guard position.

Tomas Thrastarson is one of the three
returnees and plays at guard. He was
able to get in some playing time last
year at guard. He is an international
player from Iceland. He started 11 games
and played in 31 games averaging 20.7
minutes a game. He made the WCC all
freshman team. He averages 4.5 points a
a game. This coming season the Cougars
will need him to score at least twice that
to have any success.

The other two returners are both forwards.
They should see good action as well.
Rihards Vavers a Junior has had trouble
staying healthy for the Cougars. Recently
he says that he is feeling fine. Rihards played
13 games last year averaging 13.9 minutes
a game. Staying healthy we could see him
play over 20 minutes a game. He averaged
5.6 points a game. Being healthy and playing
more minutes he could score in double figures.

ND Okafor a transfer last year from California
played in all 32 games coming off the bench.
He averages 13.8 minutes scoring 5.6 points
and 2.7 rebounds. We hope with a year under
his belt with the Cougars he will see more
action. The Cougars seem they need him to
with the lack of experience.

The primary transfer was Jerone Morton who
played last year as a sophomore at Morehead
State. He started 20 of 25 games he played
for them. Jerone averaged 10.7 points a
game. It will be important that he scores
in double digits for the Cougars this coming
season.

It is hard to know what  the starting lineup
is though those four players will need to play.
The depth chart hasn't come out as of yet
Looking at their 14 player roster at this time.
There  is no center shown on the roster
so likely go with two forwards and three guards. Despite the lack of experience
the Cougars are favored to finish sixth
in the West Coast Conference. This will
be their last season as they will go into
the new Pac-12 next year. Gonzaga
actually be joining them.

The Cougars have ten nonconference
Games beginning on November 3 against
Idaho.  We will let you know how it goes
and what the lineup looks like. We get additional news beforehand let you know
too. Go Cougs.

We will let you know where former Cougars
from last year land who are still in college.

Preview Toledo at Washington State

This will be the first time the Cougars
will take on Toledo who plays in the Mid-American Conference. The Cougars
are a slight favored at home by 1.5
points.

Toledo has a 4-3 record overall however
hasn't won a game on the road yet this
season. A reason the Cougars are favored.
Toledo Rockets average 35 points a game
while their defense gives up just over 14
points.  This could be an interesting game.

The Rockets are led by quarterback Tucker
Gleason a senior. His passing rate is 64.7
percent. He has thrown 12 touchdowns and has four interceptions on the season. The
Cougars could benefit by having an interception.

The Rockets do average 200 yards on the
ground so could be a benefit for them. It is important the Cougars stop them on the ground as well in the air. Their running
defense is good though the Cougars don't
run a lot anyway. If the Cougars can play
like the previous two games they should
win handly. It comes down whether playing
to the competition or not.

Chip Trayanum is the Rockets leading
rusher with 100 yards a game. Kenji
Christian is his backup at just over 48
yards a game.

The leading receiver is Junior Vandeross III
who plays at slot receiver, at least listed anyway. Unusual for the most catches and touchdowns for a team. Junior has 45 catches on the season with seven touchdowns.  No one else on the team has
more than one touchdown.  He averages
79.43 yards a game. Number two is slot
receiver Trayvon Rudolph has 22 catches
averaging 41.14 yards per game and has
one touchdown. Tight end Jacob Peterson
has 11 catches averaging 25 yards a game.
He has one touchdown and 5th in receptions.

On defense the Rockets have 13 sacks.
They are led by left defensive end Malachi
Davis with 3.5. They have five interceptions
on the season. Weak linebacker K'Von
Sherman leads in tackles with 51 tackles.

Though the Cougars are favored by 1.5
points having to near misses with wins
two top teams I see the Cougars winning
at a higher margin though. Only mistakes
would make it close or lose. Go Cougs!

Preview Illinois at Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies are home this week
against Illinois. They have identical records
though Illinois is ranked #23. They had a
bye week after losing to Ohio State which
both teams have in common.

Both the Huskies and the Fighting Illini
have identical records at 5-2 including
2-2 in Big Ten Conference. They are both
tied in 10th place along with Nebraska.
Indiana and Ohio State are the only
teams that are undefeated. There are
seven teams with 3-1 including Oregon,
USC and UCLA.   The Huskies don't
play USC this season of those three
teams.

The Huskies lead the series between
them with overall record of 7-4. The
Huskies have won four straight however
doesn't have a lot of meaning since the
last game between them was 2014 and
the Huskies won 44-19 at Husky Stadium.

The Huskies are favored by 4.5 points
primarily because it is a home game.

Illinois is averaging 34 points a game
while their defense is giving up just over
25 points a game. Like most teams in
college football they go with three wide
receivers most of the time. On defense
they go with three defensive lineman,
two edge rushers, two linebackers in
the middle, two  corners and two
safeties. They bring in a nickel back
on passing downs.

Illinois is averaging 118.7 on the ground
while giving up 131 yards per game.
Jonah Coleman should begin by taking
advantage of the Illinois defense. In
the passing game Illinois is averaging
264 yards while giving up 240 yards a
game. They are about an average team
on both sides of the ball.

Luke Altmyer a senior is the Ilini starting
quarterback. He completed 72.40 % of
his passes and has only one interception
so the Huskies defense will have to be
ready.

The Illini have gone with two running
backs primarily on the season in
Kaden Feagin as the starter and Ca'Lil
Valentine as his backup. Feagin and
Valentine average almost the same
amount of yards though Feagin has
carried the ball more though only three
more per game. They do have a third
back who missed some action playing
in four games in Aidan Laughery. He
did play against Ohio State so he is
sharing the load too.  He averages
45 yards a game so not far behind the
other two.  He has a higher average
of the three at six yards per carry.
The other two aren't shabby as well
so the Huskies defense will have to
be careful.

Hank Beatty is Illinois top receiver
averaging just over five catches
per game for 88 yards. Collin Dixon
and Hudson Clement are their second
and third in receptions with around
three catches per game. Dixon averages
51 yards a game while Clement at 26.
Justin Bowick the fourth receiver has
two catches per game he leads them
with four touchdowns. Tanner Arkin
is the starting tight end however he
has only five catches in seven games
with one touchdown.

So this should be an interesting game
with both teams going on with their
offense. If Jonah Coleman does well
rushing the ball along with quarterback
Desmond Williams Jr. the Huskies
should win. Keeping the Fighting Illini
off the field as much as possible will
be the key along with penalties and
turnovers. Go Dawgs!

Seahawks Win At Home

It was nice to see the Seahawks  win at home
after having both losses at home the most
recent against Tampa.

The offense was inconsistent  scoring only
in the first and third quarters.  The defense
was solid especially  against the running game
as the Texans had only 56 yards. The mix of
Ken Walker lll and Zach Charbonnet was good
to with Zach scoring two touchdowns. Walker
running outside while Zach inside is a good.

passing  game  for the Seahawks  was again
as all season  long was Jaxon Smith-Njiba who
had eight catches  for 123 yards with a touchdown
at the end of the first quarter  making it 14-0.

The Seahawks  had a solid lead at the end of the
third quarter 27-12 despite  that Sam Darnold
fumbled in the third quarter giving the Texans
a touchdown  in the process. It would have
been nice if the  Seahawks  could have had
another score in the 4th however they did only
give up a touchdown  just before the two minute
warning.

Final Seahawks 27 Texans 19

The Seahawks  have a bye next week so that is
good. They play the  Commanders on Sunday
night at Washington DC. The Seahawks are still
tied with the 49ers and Rams at 5-2. The Seahawks
will play Arizona  the following week  at home
and then the  Rams the first time in LA. So enjoy
the  rest of your October.  Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose Monday Night

It was so close for the Seattle Mariners
to make the World Series losing 4-3.

The Mariners were leading heading
the bottom of the seventh inning
3-1.  Former Houston Astros
outfielder was the one to beat them
when George Springer hit a three-run
home run..Both Julio and Cal hit a
home run.

This will be a hard game to swallow
for everyone from players to fans.
We won't see anything happening
as far as players go until the World
Series is over between the Dodgers
and the Blue Jays. Who do we
root for. The winner of the American
League of the winner of the National
League. There is no true answer
on this one. Go M's

Preview Houston Texans at Seahawks

The game between the Texans and
the Seahawks will be the second
game on Monday night football
beginning at 7 pm Pacific time.

This is a probably the first time
the Mariners will be playing on
Monday night as well. They start
at 5pm Pacific time. At the time
the Seahawks start fans will
know whether the Mariners will
be going to the World  Series or not
or be still to close to call.

The Seahawks fans at the game
will likely be tuned into the Mariners
and Blue Jays on the radio broadcast
before it starts. The fans watching on
TV have already been seeing about six
innings already when this game starts.

The Seahawks are favored by three
points over the Texans. The noise
will be very loud especially if the
Mariners are winning. This could
be a very special night in Seattle.
Also the Seattle Kraken will be
playing the same time as the Mariners
in Philadelphia against the Flyers.

The Seahawks have a record of 4-2
heading into Monday night. The 49ers
and Rams are 5-2 so a win is important
for the Seahawks to stay even in the
division race. It is odd the Seahawks
are favored only by three points however
they have a 1-2 record at home while
3-0 on the road. The Texans in the
otherhand are 2-3 with a 1-1 at home
and 1-2 on the road.

CJ Stroud is the Texans starting QB.
He is averaging 215.2 yards per game
passing. He has completed 70.8%
if his passes on the season. He has
thrown 8 touchdown passes with three
interceptions and being sacked 12
times. The Seahawks who have done
well this season in sacks well try to
do the same against Stroud.

The Texans have scored 108 points
so far which ranks 22nd in the NFL.
They have allowed only 61 points
which is number one in the NFL.
This is likely the reason the Seahawks
are favored by three. The Texans are
ranked 22nd in passing as well.

The Texans running game is 16th
in the NFL. They are averaging 116.2
yards per game. Nick Chubb is the
Texans starting running back with
58 carries for 249 yards so far on
the season for an average of 4.3
per carry. Woody Marks is the
second running back with 137
yards and averaging 3.8 per carry.

Nico Collins wide receiver leads
the Texans with 22 catches for
312 yards and 3 touchdowns.
Tight end Dalton Schultz is second
with 21 catches for 286 yards
however has no touchdowns yet.

The Seahawks are averaging 27.7
points per game which is 5th in
the NFL. The defense is 6th in
points allowed. The odd makers
are showing this as a defensive
match up. Go Hawks and M's.
We hope for a great night overall.

ALCS Now Goes Seven

Sunday the Toronto Blue Jays
beat the Mariners  6-2. Now that
sends the series to seven games
on Monday night.

Logan Gilbert went only four
innings  giving up four runs
on seven hits.   Addison Barber
the Blue Jays right fielder was
the player of the game driving
in three of the runs.  He singled
in the first run of the second inning.
The Blue Jays had another in
the second inning too. The third
inning he hit a two-run homer to
make it difficult on the Mariners.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a solo
home run in the 5th inning making
it 5-0.  The Mariners got their
two runs in the 6th inning.  Josh
Naylor hit a solo home run and
Eugenio Suarez drove in Arozarena
on a single.  The Blue Jays had
their final run on a throwing error
in the 7th inning. No.more runs
after that in the game.

George Kirby is expected to start
Monday for the Mariners. He needs
to do better than he has in the series
for the Mariners to move to the
World Series. Bryce Miller and
Bryan Woo both will be available
to go as well.

The offense needs to be like the
first two games of the series or
the fifth game to find the team
to face the LA Dodgers in the
World Series. We hope this will
happen. Go M's.

WSU Cougars Lose Out Again

For the second Saturday in a row
Washington State football almost
had a large upset again.

You look at the stats they were
even. The difference the Cougars
had the ball a little longer.

The Cougars led at halftime 17-7
with a touchdown and field goal
in the second quarter after being
even at 7-7 in the first quarter.

Both teams had field goals in the
third quarter and it was all Virginia
in the 4th quarter.

The Cougars were shutout in the
4th and the defense that was good
for three quarters were unable to
stop a pretty good offense. A field
goal, a touchdown and ending with
a safety allowed the Cavaliers to
win 22-20.

The bright spot the Cougars future
looks bright with a new Pac-12
coming next season. The key will
be the transfer portal and not
losing any key players. The next
two games the Cougars should
win against teams that are less
caliber than Ole Miss and Virginia.
Oh what could have been. Go Cougs!

Washington Huskies Lose At Michigan

I am sure the Huskies had wished for
a better outcome against Michigan.

The final Michigan 24 Washington 7

The first half was even at least on the
scoreboard at 7 to 7. Michigan scored
first with a touchdown under a minute remaining in the first quarter. Jonah
Coleman had short run for a touchdown
right before the half ended.

Usually the Huskies are good at making
adjustments at half time however this
was not happening in this game.

The Wolverines took the lead for good
at 1:20 remaining in the 3rd quarter
with a touchdown. They had another
TD in the 4th quarter then a field goal
under five minutes remaining.

Huskies Desmond Williams Jr last week
was Big Ten player of the week. This
time he threw three interceptions and
no touchdowns. We see if he and the
Huskies can rebound next weekend.
Go Dawgs!

Right now the WSU is upsetting Virginia
at the beginning of the 4th quarter. See
if their defense can continue to stop the
Cavaliers. We will let you know.

Preview Washington State at Virginia

The Washington State Cougars face number 18 ranked Virginia Caveliers on Saturday.
This will be the first time both teams have
faced each other in football.

The Cavaliers are 17.5 favorites in this
game. The Cougars last week lost to
Ole Miss by only three points on their
field who were favored by a larger
amount. Anything is possible however
it is hard to play a close game two weeks
in a row against a ranked team and come
up with a victory in the second game
after losing so close. The odds are against
it. If you are a betting man it might be
a good idea to put money on the Cougars.
I wouldn't put as much though on this
game. Whatever you can afford to lose
that is.

Virginia is averaging 45 points a game.
If the defense can do as they did against
Ole Miss 24 points anything might happen.

The Cavaliers are led by senior quarterback
Chandler Morris who is on his fourth team.
He is completing 69.9percent of his passes.
He is averaging 238 yards throwing with
11 touchdowns in six games and four
interceptions.

What makes the Cavaliers offense hard
to stop is they are averaging 217.5 yards
a game as well. That is almost 100 yards
more than their defense is giving up on
the ground. They are led by senior running
back J'Mari Taylor who is averaging 77.5
yards a game on 15 carries and has 8
touchdowns. The Cavaliers have four other
running backs who are averaging at least
four carries per game.

At receiving they are led by Cameron Ross
with 28 catches on the season for 329
yards and two touchdowns. Trell Harris
has 26 catches for 384 yards and three
touchdowns. They have three other
receivers with double digits of catches.

The Cougars defense will be up for
another tough game on the road.
Let's see how they respond this time
too. The Cougars offense is primarily
in the passing game however it is
important to get off to a good start
running the ball especially if they
get the ball first to keep the Cavaliers
offense off the field as much as possible.
Go Cougs!

Mariners Win Game 5

It took  the Mariners a while however
they were able to get through with the
win.

The Mariners have been able to come
through this season more often late
when they have struggle before then.
We have to accept that who they are.
Now they just have to win one more
to go to their first World Series.

Bottom of the 8th Cal Raleigh hit a solo
home run to tie the game 2-2. The M's
loaded the bases and Eugenio Suarez
hit a grand slam making it  6-2.

Bryce Miller was only able to go 4 innings
though gave up only one run.  Matt Brash
pitched the 5th.  Bryan Woo made his
first appearance in the playoffs by going
two innings giving up one run.

Gabe Speier pitched the 8th and Munoz
the 9th. Neither gave up a hit.

Now enjoy Saturday off before Sunday's
which we hope sends the Mariners to
the World Series. Go M's.

Preview Washington At Michigan

The Huskies and Wolverines have
had some great games against
each other before Washington
joined the Big Ten.

The Wolverines are a 5.5 favorite
heading into this matchup in Anne
Harbor.  Huskies beat Rutgers last
week while the Wolverines lost
to USC. The Huskies care now 5-1
while Wolverines are 4-2. The Huskies
win they qualify for a bowl game. A
good insentive besides beating
Michigan.

The Wolverines are led by quarterback
Bryce Underwood who has 1200 yards
passing on the season. Justice Haynes
leads with 705 yards rushing. Michigan
is averaging 201.7 yards passing however
216.3 rushing. Expect the Huskies will
have to try to stop the ground game first.

The Wolverines lost last week at USC
31-13 so they will want to reverse it.
The Huskies have won two in a row after
losing to Ohio State.  They have won
their two road games after having no
wins on the road last year so we hope
for a third win and make their record
6-1. Go Dawgs!

Blue Jays Even Series

Unfortunately the Rock also known
as Luis Castillo and the bullpen
couldn't get it done Thursday night
so heading into Friday's game the
series is tied 2-2.

Final Blue Jays 8 Mariners

The Mariners again scored first
in the second inning when Josh
Naylor hit a solo home run.
Castillo was given the hook early
when the Blue Jays hit a two-run
homer to take the lead the rest of
the way. We will never know whether
that was the right choice or not
to take Castillo out of not though
may not have had it Thursday night.

This was a shame since Castillo
could have been his name down
for many years ahead had he been
able to go five innings at least.
We could have seen video of him
over and over again.

Gabe Speier didn't have a good
game either giving up two runs
however a wild pitch by Matt
Brash when he came in didn't
help the cause.

Naylor had three of the Mariners
five hits including the home run.
The Mariners did take five walks
but couldn't take advantage of
them.

Bryce Miller has pitched well through
five innings as the Mariners lead 1-0
on a Eugenio Suarez home run. Go M's

Mariners Need To Rebound

The Mariners were blown out Wednesday
night so they will need to rebound.
They can't let the Blue Jays back into
the series.

Final  Blue Jays 13 Mariners 4

Often the Mariners when they have
an explosive game they go quiet
for several games. We hope the same
goes for Toronto.

Julio Rodriguez hit a two-run homer
in the first inning so it was promising
then. George Kirby didn't have his
stuff going.  He only lasted four innings
plus. The Mariners went with their
low leverage guys so guys like Munoz
will be ready to go Wednesday.
Go M's

Look At Washington Huskies Men's Basketball

Last season the Washington Huskies
were last in the Big Ten in men's
basketball. Something you don't like
to see especially the first year in
the conference and under a new
head coach either.

Now in college basketball a school
can rebuild quicker with the transfer
portal so head coach Danny Sprinkle
decided to bring in almost a whole
new team.

Franck Kepnang at center is the longest
standing Husky so to speak although the
three years he has been on the injured
list most of the time. The short time he
has played Franck is the heart and soul
of the team. If he had stayed more healthy
the Huskies likely have more wins.

Zoom Diallo last year was a freshman.
He started some games and coming
off the bench as a good contributor.
He is expected to start at shooting
guard however may see some time
at point guard as well.

Wesley Yates was a freshman two
years ago on Mike Hopkins last
season however injuries cost him
playing time. A heralded player like
Diallo he transferred like most of
the players after Hopkins was fired.
Yates played last year with the USC
Trojans however decided to come
back to Washington. He is expected
to start at small forward however
could see action at guard too.

Desmond Claude was teammate of
Yates at USC last season.  Previously
he played at Xavier. He is expected to
be the Huskies starting point guard.
He could see action at small forward
to. Desmond averaged 15.8 points a
game as well as 4.2 assists. He should
be an added success to the Huskies
team.

JJ Mandaquit is coming in this year's
highly touted freshman out of Hawaii.
He played three years on the USA junior
national team. This means he should be
ready for college basketball so we will
see how much he plays. The non-league
schedule beginning at the beginning of
November will give us the indication
how well he will play this coming season.

BJ Roy the son of Huskies great Brandon
Roy is listed as the 4th point guard on this
year's team. He isn't a heralded prospect
so it is likely he won't see a lot of action
as a freshman. This could be learning
experience to see if he can develop.

Jacob Ognacevic a transfer from Lipscomb
was expected to be the Huskies starting
power forward. He came down with an
injured foot so he expected to miss time
until mid-December. Last year Jacob
averaged 20 points a game along with
7.9 rebounds. Sophomore Bryson Tucker
who was expected to be his backup and
transferred from Indiana where he played
17 minutes a game. See how he does
starting unless they decide to change
things around and want him to be a
role player still off the bench.

Banned Steinbach a high recruit from
Germany coming in his freshman year
will see more time at power forward
until Ognacevic returns. We see how
he does.

Latham Somerville transferred from
Rutgers and he is expected to see
action at center.  His freshman year
Latham averaged 8.2 points and 4.1
rebounds. How much he plays will
depend on how healthy Kepnang
can stay. The Huskies had two other
centers on the roster. One could be
out for some time while the other
will miss the whole season. The Dawgs
just hope for health along the front line
going forward.

The Huskies season starts pretty soon
with non-league games beginning on
November 3 against Ar-Pine Bluff at
home.  Go Dawgs.

Coming up we will look at the WSU and
Gonzaga to who both have had a lot
of changes as well. The life of the
transfer portal.

Mariners Take Care of Game Two

.Monday afternoon bthe Seattle Mariners
beat the  Toronto Blue Jays again this
time 10-3. The Mariners now come home
for three games beginning on Wednesday.

Julio hit a three-run homer in the first
inning with Arozarena and Cal on
base. The Blue Jays scored two runs
in the first inning followed by one in
the second. It was all Mariners after
that.

Jorge Polanco hits a three run homer
in the 5th with Arozarena and Cal on
base. The same guys as Julio had.
It is hard to match what Polanco has
done in the last three games. He is
the Championship series MVP so
far so hS company as well.

In the 6th inning JP hit a single to
score Leo Rivas who didn't start the
game. He has had a good playoffs
to in limited action.

In the 7th Josh Naylor hit a home
run with who else Polanco on base.
JP added another RBI with a sacrifice
fly with Eugenio Suarez on third. The
offense decided to take the 8th and
9th innings off.

Logan Gilbert struggled in the three
innings giving up the three innings
though one was unearned. Bazardo,
Vargas and Emerson Hancock each
pitched two innings. Bazardo was the
only one to give up a hit. Vargas walked
one and Hancock struggled with three
walks. Munoz warmed  up however wasn't
needed.

Enjoy your day off until Wednesday.

Mariners Win Game 1

The Mariners beat the Toronto
Blue Jays 3 to 1.

George Springer hit a home run
on the very first pitch of the bottom
of the first inning. They only had one
hit the rest of the way.

Cal Raleigh tied the game in the sixth
inning. Jorge Polanco who was the
player of the game in game five
against the Tigers drive in second run
in the sixth inning. In the 8th he drove
in the third run to make it more
comfortable.

Bryce Miller  went six innings giving
up the one run, two hits and three
walks. The bullpen of Speier,  Brash
and Munoz each went an inning
without giving up a hit.

The Mariners are in the drivers seat.
Game two will be on Monday in
Toronto.  Logan Gilbert will start.
Go M's

Seahawks Win On the Road Again

The Seahawks are having a good
season even with a couple losses
in the first half of the season.

Today they beat the Jaguars in
Jacksonville 20-12. The Jaguars
had the first score and only one
in the first quarter however didn't
make the extra point.

The second quarter was all Seahawks
beginning with a 26 yards field goal
then Jaxon Smith-Njigba had a 61 yard
touchdown. They ended the first half
with a 53 yards field goal making it
13-6.

At the 10:14 mark of the third period
Cooper Kupp had an 11 yard touchdown.
The Jaguars responded with a 26 yard
touchdown at the 13 minutes remaining
in the game. Neither team scored after
that. Seahawks had the ball under six
minutes remaining however we not able
to sustain a drive. The Jaguars got the
ball back to see if they could tie the
game however the Seahawks defense
was able to make an interception.
Seahawks tight end  AJ Barner was able
to make an important to break the game.

This game came down to Seahawks
defense where the line had six sacks
on the day. We hope for more of that.
The Seahawks next game will be on
Monday night football on October 20
against the Houston Texans.
Go Hawks!

WSU Lose A Close Game

Ole Miss ranked #4 won however the
Cougars gave them a surprise by
making it close and might have been
big upset .

Final Ole Miss 24 WSU 21

Ole Miss was expected to win by a
high amount in double digits however
only won by a field goal. This happened
at home for Ole Miss.

The Cougars scored first with only score
in the first quarter when Zevi Eckhaus
threw a touchdown pass to Landon
Wright for 26 yards with 1:58 remaining.

The 2nd quarter was all Ole Miss kicking
a field goal and a touchdown while
shutting down the Cougars. Both teams
had a touchdown in the third quarter.
So Ole Miss 17-14 lead.  The Cougars
scored first taking back the lead for much
of the quarter. Ole Miss scored right at
the end of the quarter to take the lead.

The 4th quarter it took a while however
at 6:51 remaining scored another td
to make it a ten point lead. At 2:43 left  in
the game Tony Freeman caught a 19 yard
touchdown from Eckhaus to come within
the field goal. Unfortunately the Cougars
couldn't score again. At least they showed
what they are capable of.

The Cougars next game is on the road
at Virginia another top team who won't
take them lightly. Go Cougs!

Preview: Seahawks at Jaguars

The Seahawks who are now 3-2 on the
season play at Jacksonville.  The
Seahawks have an all-time record of
6-3 against the Jaguars. All three
of the Jaguars wins are on their home
field. The last time the Seahawks
played in Jacksonville was on December
10,2017. The Jaguars won 30-24.
The Jaguars are only a 1.5 point favorite.

The Seahawks will win this game if
they are able to play the same offense
they did last week and play better defense.
The Jaguars average 137 yards on the
ground while giving up 97.8. We hope the
Seahawks can do better. The passing game
Trevor Lawrence is averaging 213.2 yards
per game. He has six touchdowns with
five interceptions. If the Seahawks cause
important interception that will help.

The Jaguars are giving up 260 yards
a game in the air. That is less than the
Seahawks threw last week however
this could be good for the Seahawks
to.

It will be important for the special
teams to be good as well. What is
important in an expected close game
is field position and time of possession.
Go Hawks

Another Huskies Behind Win / Mariners advance

Washington Huskies 38 Rutgers 19

Going by the score we wouldn't know
that Rutgers had a lead in this game
They actually led the first half first
by scoring ten runs before the Huskies
had a touchdown.

Huskies quarterback Desmond Williams
Jr. had a big game throwing over 400
yards and running over 100. He threw
two touchdown passes as well as two we
running the ball. Player of the game for
sure. Williams didn't have a turnover
either.  The Huskies defense only gave
up six points in the second half.

The Huskies will play Michigan on the
road next week. Should be another
good test. Go Dawgs.

The Mariners and Tigers are still
playing tied in the top of the 15th
inning. The Mariners have had their
opportunities. If they lose this game
can't blame the pitching.  Neither
team has scored since the 7th.  The
Mariners have had runners on base
in extra innings without being able
to get a key hit. Now is the bottom
of the 15th see if they can score a
run so can go to Toronto.  Come on
M's.

Update : JP Crawford singled to right field.
Randy Arozarena was hit.  Cal flied out to
center. JP moved to third and Arozarena
to 2nd. Julio was intentionally walked.
Polanco hit a single to right field on a
3-2 pitch.

George Kirby went five innings. Logan
Gilbert and Luis Castillo came out of
the bullpen too. Now to Toronto.

Mariners and Tigers Go To Fith Game

The odd were good after game 1 lose
by the Mariners that the series could
go five games. The Mariners evened
at home on Sunday then beat the
Tigers handly on Tuesday.

On Wednesday the game got of
to a good start Wednesday scoring
a run in the second, fourth and fifth
inning. The Tigers looked like they
did in game two where they going by
using the bullpen mostly.

In the bottom of the fifth the Tigers
Zsckred three to tie it.  They took the
lead in the sixth  with four runs that
included two home runs.

The Tigers had another homer in
the seventh and a run scored on
a fielders choice. Final Tigers 9-3.

The game goes back to Seattle on
Friday. It will be a tough one however
we see if the Mariners can do it.
Go M's..

Preview: Washington State Cougars at Ole Miss

Saturday morning Pacific time the
WSU Cougars will be playing at #4
Ole Miss.  The Rebels are favored
by 33.5 points so this may be a hard
game to swallow. It is good they are
playing a highly ranked team as they
have a new coaching staff and 70
new players. So important to make it
as close as possible.

The Ole Miss Rebels are averaging
40.6 points a game while giving up
18.8 points. See if the Cougars can
do more than score a touchdown.
The Cougars had a week off to prepare
as well.

Trinadad Chambliss is the Rebels
starting Quarterback and he has
thrown for 1033 yards so far
with five touchdowns and one
interception. Austin Simmons
a sophomore has thrown four
touchdowns however has four
interceptions. Likely to see him
in the game at some point. Both
are running quarterbacks  with
Chambliss being number two
in rushing while Simmons number
five on the rebels.

Kewan Lacy a sophomore is the
Rebels primary running back
with 445 yards on 102 carries
and had eight touchdowns.

Harrison Wallace III and Deuce
Alexander each have 17 catches
as wide receivers to lead the Rebels.
Harrison has two touchdowns and
Deuce has one.

This will be the first time the Cougars
and Ole Miss play each other.
Next season the Cougars have four
nonleague games with Huskiesbeing
the first one of the season. Ole Miss
isn't mentioned. Go Cougs!

Mariners Win Delayed Game

Game three between Mariners and
the Tigers was delayed for three
hours because of rain. The Mariners
found a way to dominate the Tigers
in this one.

Final Mariners 8 Tigers 4.

Tomorrow the Mariners win they
move on to the American League
Championship game.

Logan Gilbert went six innings for
the Mariners giving up four hits,
no walks and striking out seven
while allowing only one run.

Mariners scored two runs in the
third and fourth innings. JP
Crawford hit a single scoring
Victor Robles. JP went to 2nd
on a throwing error from left field.
He scored on a Randy Arozarena
single.

In  the 4th Eugenio Suarez hits
a home run to lead of the inning.
Dominic Canzone walks then
Robles strikes out.  After a pitching
change JP walks followed by
Arozarena striking out. Cal hits
a single to score Canzone.

In the 5th the Tigers score their
first run a force out. In the 6th
JP hits a home run to make it
5-1.  Luke Raley the third dh
after Mitch Garver had gone in
earlier for Canzone scored on
a sacrifice fly by JP.  In the 9th
Arozarena hit a double followed
by Cal's first home run of the
series.

Caleb Ferguson came in to
pitch the 9th however struggled
giving up three runs. Munoz
came in to finish the game.

Bryce Miller starts Wednesday
afternoon in what they hope
is the final game of the series.
Go M's.

Preview: Rutgers at Washington Huskies

It will be interesting to see how things
go this week after Huskies came back
last Saturday to beat Maryland 24-20
with 24 unanswered. My thought at
halftime were the predictors this wrong
having the Huskies winning. Also the
fact they didn't win on the road last year
at all. Makes it all more amazing.

The game to against Rutgers at home
the Huskies will need to look at a new
winning streak at Husky Stadium with
a loss against Ohio State the week
before.

The Huskies are now favored at 10.5
after beginning at 9.5. Rutgers have a
3-2 record while the Huskies are 4-1.
The Huskies are favored mostly for
their home field advantage.

Washington and Rutgers have played
each other only three times. Last year
Rutgers won on their field  21-18.
Rutgers had a 14-3 lead at halftime of
last season matchup where they made
a comeback. Unfortunately a field  goal
miss at  the end of the game didn't allow an
overtime which anything could have
happened. Current quarterback Demond
Williams Jr. didn't play in last year's game.

This game will take place in Seattle as
did last years on the road. We now hope
the Huskies win and make it five wins
and be closer to clinch a bowl game.
Go Dawgs!

Mariners Even Series

Sunday evening the Seattle Mariners
beat the Tigers 3-2 in 9 innings .

Luis Castillo got off to a rough start
however was able to get out of jams
not to resurrender any runs.

Gabe Speier, Bazardo, Brash and
Munoz finished it off. Only Brash
had trouble giving up two unearned
runs after an error by Josh Naylor.

The Mariners scored first with two
home runs from Jorge Polanco.
The Tigers tied it with the two
unearned runs in the top of the
8th. Cal Raleigh hit a double with
one out and Julio hit a. double as
well to score Cal to win it.

An off day on Monday Logan Gilbert
will start Tuesday in Detroit. Go M's

Seahawks Lose In the End

The Seahawks game was exciting
however too many errors cost them
the game.

They were down 13-0 in the first half
before scoring a touchdown as time
ran out. Making it 13-7.

The Seahawks took the lead at begin
of the second half have with another td.
It went back and forth. The Seahawks
had a seven point lead with just over
three minutes to go. The Bucs were
to tie the game then an Darnold interception
allow the Bucs to kick a field goal as
time went out.

Final Bucs 38-35. A tough loss for sure.

The Bucs had a big passing night
as did the Seahawks both being
over 300. The Seahawks ran the
ball with 122 yards.

Sam Darnold completed 28 of 34 passes
for 341 with the one interceptions.
Most games the Seahawks would have
won. Jaxson Smith-Njigba had eight
catches for 132 yards and one touchdown.
AJ Barner had a big game too catching
seven passes for 53 yards and two tds.
Tory Hunter had three receptions and
a touchdown.

The Seahawks play at Jacksonville
next Sunday. Look for a pounce back game.
49rrs are now in first place with 4-1 record
while the Seahawks and Rams at 3-2.
The Cardinals are 2-3. Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose In Extra Innings

The Mariners who have had issues
and losing in extra innings did so
Saturday in the first game of division
playoff game.

Julio Rodriguez  drove in both of
the Mariners runs with a home run
in the 4th inning. Kerry Carpenter
hit a two run home run in the 5th
inning. Julio tied game driving in
a run with no outs. Unfortunately
the Mariners couldn't score more
runs from then on.

The bullpen did a good job until
the 11the inning when the Tigers
hit a ball up the middle driving the
runner from second. Julio got
on with two outs however Josh
Naylor was unable to get hit.
Game over.

Tigers 3 Mariners 2

Sunday Luis Castillo goes for the
Mariners and it is a must win.
Go M's.

Washington Huskies Come From Behind

Three quarters of Saturday's game
at Maryland it looked like the Terrapins
we're going to win.  A surprise the
Huskies scored three touchdowns
in the fourth quarter to win 24 -20.

It was 20-0  when the Huskies kicked
a field goal at 3:44 remaining in the
3rd quarter.

The Huskies first touchdown took
nine plays. The first five plays occurred
in the 3rd quarter with the touchdown
happening at 14:23 mark of the 4th
quarter with a three yard pass to Denzel
Boston.

The Huskies defense stopped the
Terrapins on three plays for one yard.
It took the Huskies four plays to score
again.  It took only 1:18 to score going
75 yards.  Receiver Desmen Roebuck
who caught the first pass of the series
caught a 34 yard pass for the touchdown.

The Huskies defense kept putting on
the pressure where Maryland only had
six plays  after a kickoff touchback.
The Huskies started on their own
20 yard line after a punt.   This time the
Huskies went 80 yards on 11 plays.
Jonah Coleman had a one yard touchdown
run after a 11 yard catch he made on
the previous play.

Maryland still has a chance with 3:21
left in the game.  They ran seven plays
including  four incomplete passes
before turning the ball back to the
Huskies. The last pass was 4th and 8
yards to go with  1:43 remaining in
the game.

The Huskies ran out the clock on five
plays. A key play on second down
where quarterback Desmond  Williams Jr.
ran for ten yards to get another first
down. The game ended on third down
when Desmond took a knee.

Washington Huskies are showing they
can be dangerous in the 4th quarter.
The Huskies next game will be home
next Friday at 6 pm against Rutgers.
Go Huskies!

Local Weekend Sports

The Washington Huskies will begin
the weekend sports in local sports
playing at Maryland where they are
going to favored.

The Mariners game at home against
the Detroit Tigers will be in the evening.
George Kirby will start game one
followed by Luis Castillo in game
two on Sunday. We certainly know where things are at after those two games.

The Seahawks at home against Tampa
Buccaneers before the Mariners
second game. Go teams

Friday, October 3, 2025

Preview Tampa Bay at Seattle Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are favored
at home against the Tampa Bay
Buccaneers by three points.
Both have identical 3-1 record.

The Seahawks have a winning record
against the Buccaneers at 9-6 when
they came in together. They are 2-2
in their last four games together.
Last game was in 2022 at Tampa
where the Bucs won 21-16. The
two Seahawks wins were at home
both going overtime. This could
happen again.

Tampa Bay is in first place while
Seahawks along with the 49ers
and Rams are tied with them.
The Cardinals are 2-2 after losing
on Thursday night to the Seahawks.
This tight race it is important for
the Seahawks to win.  The Seahawks
play the Jaguars the next Sunday.

The Buccaneers had their loss last
Sunday  to the Philadelphia Eagles
31-25. They had to come from a large
defeceit in the second half to have
a chance. They were down 24-6
at halftime.

We hope nothing similar in this
matchup however a win is a win.
Go Hawks!

Who Should The Mariners Play Coming Up

It is hard to decide whether Mariners
should go against whether the Tigers
or Guardians.

The Mariners have had hard times with
both teams in decent years. Playing
home has an advantage for the Mariners.
They win the first two games at T-Mobile
Park and split on the road would help
out tremendously. There is no off-day
between series if they go all five games.

The Tigers weren't playing well before
the wild though they won the first game.
The Guardians were in the same fashion
as the Mariners before they won the
division and setup the second spot.
Like most playoffs it comes down
too the pitching. The Mariners have
advantage pitching at home. They
can go with Gilbert and Castillo. Woo
in the first road as long as he is ready
to go. Kirby can go if necessary in the
first road game and Miller in the second
if Woo can't go. Keep Gilbert for game
five at home if necessary.

It will be important if the Mariners can
