Seahawks beat Giants

The Seahawks  now have won three in
a row beating the New York  Giants
27-13.

If you turned off the game at the end
of the  first quarter  you missed exciting
finish for the Seahawks.  Neither team
did well in the first quarter scoring no
points.

The second quarter  the Seahawks  had
ten points while the Giants had seven.
Both teams had turnovers so where the
Giants got their  seven points.

Both teams had field goals in the third
quarter  and the Seahawks  had two
touchdowns in the 4th while the Giants
had another field goal.

Tyler Lockett  had  a  touchdown after
missing one earlier that went through
his hands. What a way to  redeem himself.
DK Metcalf  wasn't  expected to  play but
he did and had a touchdown too. Ken
Walker didn't  run like  he did the week
before  but had a touchdown.

The  Seahawks  defense stopped  the
Giants  running game.  Had only 78
yards on the day. The Giants had to
pass the ball instead but getting  down
by two touchdowns  makes sense.

The Seahawks  next week  play  the
Cardinals again. See if the defense
will do another  fine job. I am sure
the Cardinals  will try to change things
up. The Seahawks  haven't had a lot of
success in Arizona.  The main thing is
not have injuries which they often have
playing in  Arizona.  Go Hawks!

Seahawks Sunday

The Seahawks  take on the New York
Giants this week at home.  Let's see
if the Seahawks  can win their third
in a row.

The offe se has been a  surprise so
so far and the defense has  done well
in the last two games.

I heard on the radio the Giants love to
run the ball whether they ahead or  behind.
Of course,  this means the Seahawks have
to stop the run.

On the offense contine running the ball too
along with timely passes. A lot of medium
passes with an occasional long one when
they are second and short.

DK Metcalf  is  expected  to  miss the game.
So someone besides  Tyler Lockett will have
to step up. Go Hawks!

Cougars Lose Huskies Have Bye

Thursday  night  WSU  Cougars  took
on the tough Utah Utes on their own
field  but lost  21-17.

Neither  team were able to score I
first quarter.  Utah had two touchdowns
in second quarter  while Cougars
had one. Utah had a touchdown in
the third quarter while the Cougs
went black. The Cougars made it
interesting as they scored ten points
and the Utes had no points. The Cougars
are 4-4 with one  win Conference play.

The Cougars  have four games  remaining.
November  5 they play at Stanford  then
two against the Arizona  schools.  All
three games the Cougars  can win.  They
finish  the  season on the last Saturday at
home against  the Huskies. The Cougars
need to win two games to be bowl eligible.
I expect they will be in a bowl game unless
they blow it badly.

The Apple Cup will decide which bowl game
each team goes to.  The Huskies don't have
an easy ride. A week  from Friday  they play
the Beavers followed by  the  Ducks the next
Saturday.  They do play Colorado  which they
should win. By the way the Ducks are undefeated
heading into next week  in the conference..
Right now the Ducks, USC and Utah are those
looking  into the Conference championship.
Either  the Huskies  or Beavers could make it
but would have to  win all four games to do so.
Let's see  what happens.  👍👍

Mariners Catching

We know the Mariners  starting catcher
is Cal Raleigh. Though he got off to a
slow start  on the season  my opinion
all along he should have been  catching
regular from the start of the season instead
of alternating three catchers. At least we
now know who will start.

The question is  who will be the backup
catcher and if they will carry three on the
roster.  The first answer is Luis Torrens
going to  be  on the team and if so will
he be the backup catcher. Will he be
versatile  enough to backup at first, second
and third base as well as dh. Will Torrens
play mainly against lefties  and give Raleigh
a day off against a tough lefty.

Second will the Mariners  bring back Tom
Murphy or should they pickup  another
catcher. Yes I  know they have a couple
other catchers on their roster.

Raleigh  has shown he can handle  the
pitching staff and can hit in the clutch
with how runs. I  expect his average will
go up as well. What that average be is
anyone's guess  but he is the guy. 👍👍

Seahawks Wednesday

The Seahawks  cinrinue making moves
while getting  ready to  play the New York
Giants.

Most likely  DK Metcalf  won't  play on
Sunday. He won't  need surgery  but might
miss a few games. We will have to see.
This means seeing  more of Marguise
Goodwin who had two touchdowns against
the Chargers.  We probably see more of
three tight ends as well.  Both for running
game as well  as  passing.  At least one of
the tight ends should be open.

The Seahawks  released a  couple of players
on the active  roster  so Travis  Homer may
be activated  for this Sunday. Having a good
running  back  to add to  Ken Walker and Deejay
Dallas will be  good. Go Hawks!

The Mariners Infield

Looking  back on the 2022 season the
Seattle Mariners  infield was solid. The
Mariners can still improve  though.

Ty France had another  good season
at first base when he wasn't  hurt. His
numbers after the all-star break  wasn't
as good. Wonder if injuries  played a part.
Carlos Santana  played well  at first in
the  place of France when the Mariners
picked him up  from Kansas City. Also,
did the job at dh as well. His batting average
wasn't  great  but  had some key hits especially
home runs. Whether he will be  back in 2023
we will  have  to  see.

Adam Frazier at second we have  to say was a
disappointment though he had  his moments.
His batting average  was .238 compared to
.273 career average. It would have been nice
to get closer to the career average. He showed
he could play left and right field to and played
a little  shortstop  as well. Adam will be a free
agent so there is  a good possibility he won't
return. The Mariners  are looking to find someone
with more punch. Dipoto  has hinted getting a
free agent shortstop who is willing to play second.

Speaking  of  shortstop  JP Crawford had an ok
season  though not as good as in 2021. He had
a .238 average  compared to .273 in 2021. Though
his defense was good  it wasn't as like 2021 either.
We hope Crawford bounces back. Picking up  a
shortstop  depending  on  the  player Crawford
could move to  second base.  Either way the Mariners
should upgrade at second.  Crawford  seems not
to do as well in the second half of the season so
picking up someone who can play some shortstop
would be great. We know Dylan Moore  can play
shortstop  on occasion  but he doesn’t have  a  good
enough at the plate. I  would  love  to  see upgrade
at the utility position  to.

Speaking  of  utility  Abraham  Toro  was a disappointment
for sure. Had he hit better would have been more pleasing
when Frazier  did not. Toro was sent down to triple-A even.
Would have been off the playoff roster hadn't  Moore or
Sam Haggerty  went on the injured list. Haggerty was the
surprised utility  player when he was called  up. Haggerty
had a .256 batting average for the season. He was around
.300 before having to  play everyday.  His speed was
missed during the playoffs.  I  am sure most agree he
should be  back in 2023.

The biggest  surprise  had to be Eugenio Suarez at third
base. He was a throw in the trade when the Mariners  picked
up Jesse Winker from Cincinnati but had a better season
by far. He led the Mariners in home runs with 31 along with
87 runs batted in. His biggest surprise  was with his glove.
He let us forget about Kyle Seager.  Had the Mariners not
made that trade the team wouldn't have been in the playoffs.
The Mariners  would  have  had to rely on Abraham  Toro  and
Dylan  Moore  at third unless they had picked up another third
baseman. Also, Eugenio  was great in the club house.

So let's see what the Mariners to improve  the infield.

How About the Seahawks

The Seahawks won on Sunday
37-23 over the LA Chargers.
Hard to say that since used
to saying San Diego.

The Hawks are now 4-3 after
two straight wins and on the
top of the NFC West.  This version of the Hawks I certainly
like. Geno Smith had another
good game completing 20 of 27 for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Gave up an interception to but no one is
perfect. You can say that when they win.

The Seahawks were able to
take advantage of a turnover
or two. They got up to a 17-0
lead in the first quarter. The
Chargers came back in the
second quarter to make the
game interesting with two touchdowns but it was mainly
the Hawks in the second half.

It nice to have a good running
game with Ken Walker having 163 yards on 23 carries and two touchdowns. DK Metcalf was injured and so we have to
see how long he will be out.
How many know about Marquise Goodwin. I certainly
don't though I knew he was
on.the team. He had four catches and two touchdowns
on the day. The Seahawks have
another weapon to use. Also,
they used all three tight ends
in the game at the same time.
Will Dissly had four of the six
catches from the tight ends
but they were affective in the
running game too.

The defense did their job on
the day too. They kept the
Chargers down.

Next Sunday they play the New
York Giants at home. The Giants are doing well with a
6-1 record so can't take them
lightly. Let's make it three in
a row. Go Hawks!

Mariners Offense Struggles Again
