Mariners Win Father's Day

For the third game in a row the Mariners 

faced a lefty starter who they have had 

trouble all season long. 

Final Mariners 3 Red Sox 1

It ended the home stand  3-3 though 

they lost this series.

Dominic Canzone hit a home run in

the second inning. Nate Eaton tied it 

in the third inning for the Red Sox.

Cole Young singled in newcomer Weston 

Wilson. Canzone grounded out in the 6th

inning scoring Julio Rodriguez for the final 

run. Canzone who has been platooning 

most of the season and not facing a  lot

against lefties.  The Mariners had  six hits 

which was better than the previous two 

games when had two each.

Logan Gilbert pitched well gor the second 

time in a row. He gave up only three hits.

Logan went six and one-thirds innings. 

He gave up three hits altogether with

two walks and eight strike outs. Gabe

Speier came in throwing heat to get the

other two outs. 

Eduardo Bazardo pitched the 8th with out

surrendering a hit and strick out one. Andre Munoz pitched the 9th giving up a hit

and striking out one.

The Mariners will play thr Pittsburgh Pirates 

fot three games starting on Tuesday .

The Mariners have a 40-39 record and the

Pirates are 39-39. The Mariners have a slight 

edge at home while Pirates are about the

same st homr and the road.

The Mariners had a difficult time on the

last road trip however they hsve bounced

bsck before so hope the same this time.

George Kirby will stsrt on Tuesday. Not sure 

that is a piggy back or not yet. If so then 

Bryan Woo would likely follow him.

Cole Young is from Pittsburgh so be his

first appearance in front of family and

friends. Randy Arozarena will be going

on the road trip. He is about about  to

come off the injured list. It is obvious 

his bat has been missed.

There is a possibility at least one move 

will be made before this road trip. Go M's.

Saturday Night Lose Again

The Seattle Mariners lost to the Red Sox 

once again this time 5-1 and it looked

a lot like Friday's game.

The Mariners had only two hits once

again.  Both were in the first inning 

and then went dry. JP Crawford back 

at third walked then Cal Raleigh singled.

Julio forced out Cal then  Naylor singled 

in JP. That was all that happened for the

Mariners. 

Emerson Hancock pitched well the

first three  innings however gave up

a two run homer in the 5th. The 6th

inning was tough for Hancock. He 

ended up loading the bases. Jose

Ferrer came in and gave up two hits 

anf three runs scored. 

Now we see if the Mariners can hit 

on Sunday and not be swept. 

News is that Randy Arozarena eill

be going on the trip to Pittsburgh.

We hope he is in the lineup. They

certainly have missed him. Go M's. 

. Mariners Sink Friday

This weekend the Mariners are facing

three lefties starting on Friday.

They lost 6-2 on Friday to the Boston 

Red Sox.

The Red Sox are having a bad season 

mainly at home. The Red Sox are now

18-18 on the road. The Mariners are

not facing starting left handers very well. 

They are hitting .216 before this game. 

Now 9-12 against lefties. 

The Red Sox starter Ranger Suarez

pitched a no-hitter into the seventh 

inning.  He gave up his only hit to

Josh Naylor a left handed who hits

lefties good. He walked Cal Raleigh 

a couple times. JP Crawford pinch 

hit with bases loaded however struck 

out and leaving the runners  on. 

Bryce Miller pitched well once again 

however gave up a home run in the 

second inning.  He went five innings

giving up three hits including the 

home run. No walks and seven strike

outs.

Luis Castillo came in the six inning.

Got that inning easily. In the 7th

not so much. The Red Sox ended 

up scoring four runs that inning.

It wasn't  like they were hitting 

hard they just got through the infield.

He did fine in the 8th but gave up 

another run in the 9th. 

The Mariners scored two runs in

the 9th when Cal walked then 

Julio hit a home run  to center field. 

That was it and the ball game. 

Emerson Hancock will start on

Saturday and Logan Gilbert on

Sunday.

The likelihood is George Kirby and

Bryan Woo will piggy back  on the next

start.  Emerson Hancock and Logan

Gilbert after that. They will start it 

over again too. 

A surprise move Miles Mastrobuino 

was dfa dince he is out of options 

and the Mariners brought up utility 

player  Weston Wilson who they

recently signed to a minor league 

contract. He had been released by

the Orioles. He played third base 

as JP Crawford didn't start. See what 

happens tomorrow.

In the afternoon next store United States 

beat Australia 2-0. Things are good for 

USA at the moment in the World Cup.

Home of the Seahawks was loud as

we expect. Go USA 

Mariners Take Series

The Mariners took the series beating

the Orioles 3-0 Thursday afternoon.  

This was after a road trip where they 

went 4-6.

The Mariners scored three runs in the

first inning and nothing thereafter.

All three runs happened after two outs

as well. Both starters went seven 

innings. This allows the Mariners rest

for most of the bullpen.

Josh Naylor singled after missing the

first two games of the series. Dominic Canzone who has been the Mariners

hottest hitter of late end up walking.

Cole Young who has had a good season especially driving in Naylor with a double.

Rookie and Mariners top prospect Colt

Emerson singled bringing in Canzone

and Young.

The only other two hits for the Mariners 

were by Victor Robles and Miles Mastrobuino.

Robles was in the lineup since Luke Raley

is trying to get over an injury. We see whether

he will be back against on Friday night. Also 

in center with Julio Rodriguez out with his

hamstring. Julio expected day to day.

Other injuries meant Canzone in right

field with Arozarena on the injured list

and Cal at dh. Mitch Garver catching.

Expect him to catch a game against 

the Red Sox. It could be on Sunday 

although it might depend on a lefty

pitching. 

Bryan Woo who pitched awful to say

the least on the road trip was back

to his oldself gave up only three hits

in his seven innings. He walked one

while striking out seven.

Eduardo Bazardo pitched the 8th 

without a hit and struck out one.

In my opinion he should have been

the first reliever in Wednesday night

game when down 3-1. 

Andre Munoz who has been struggling 

in the 9th inning for much of the season 

walked two to make it interesting rnd.

He ended up getting the final batter 

on a third strike. 

Bryce Miller is expected to start

Friday night as the Mariners are 

going back to the piggyback once

again. Bryce was excellent on the

rosd trip in his two starts.  The

big question is how far will he go

if he continues his fine pitching 

and Luis Castillo will come into

the game.

The Mariners have said that all

six starters will be involved until

the all-star break at least. We will

have to see how that works.

It will be interesting how the bullpen 

works into as well. Stay tuned.

The Mariners right now are two

games ahead of the A's who are

home against the Angels who 

are dead last in the West division.

The Angels win it will be two

and a half lead. The Rangers are

three back but lost to the Twins.

The Astros are four back but have

the day off and play the Cleveland 

Guardians in a weekend series

beginning Friday.

The Red Sox are dead last in the

American League east 16 games

behinf the Yankees. The amazing

thing is they are playing much

better on the road then at home.

They are 12-25 at home while 

17-18 on the road. They are 2-8

in their last ten games. The Blue

Jays just swept them at home.

The two wins  though were against

the Rangers in the series before

that at home. 

The Mariners are the only team with

a home winning record  in the West 

division while  the  A's have the only

winning record on the road.  We will

see which Mariners team and Red

Sox to show up. Go M's. 

Mariners Lose Wednesday

The Seattle Mariners lost to the Baltimore 

Orioles 5-3.  George Kirby went six innings 

they were down 3-2 st the time. The 

Orioles hit a two run homer early then

Kirby gave up a run in the 6th. 

The Mariners had an opportunity when

Connor Joe who was activated today

for Arozarena a day later tried to make

a double to a triple with two down. A 

mistake thst shouldn't have happened.

The Mariners brough in Alex Hoppe 

in the 7th and he gave up a run and

then the Orioles scored again in the

9th. The Mariners had a home run

by Canzone and Cole Young in the

bottom of the 9th to make it interesting.

What I don't really understand the

Mariners on how they are using the

higher leverage relievers since Matt

Brash went down a week ago.  None

of the high leverage relievers haven't 

been pitching a lot lately. The Mariners 

when going to the piggback again

on Friday the relievers won't bave a lot

of pitching to do unless this fails.

Mariners Win Opening Game Tuesday

I have stated before that is important 

for the Mariners to win opening

game of a series plus a homestead.

It wasn't easy as the final score was

Mariners 3 Orioles 1

Taylor Ward who the Mariners are 

familiar with in his time with division 

rival California Angels hit a double

to lead off the game then scored 

with two outs. 

Bottom of the third inning Miles 

Mastrobuino walked with one 

out followed by another walk to

JP Crawford who was activated 

before the game. Also playing 

third base for the first time in

a game. Mastrobuino played 

first base as Naylor is day to day.

The score was tied until the bottom 

of the 7th. With one out and the bases

loaded Cal Raleigh activated Tuesday 

as well hit a single scoring two runs. 

Logan Gilbert who has had an up

and down season after the first

inning was able to get 16 out straight. 

He went seven innings not giving up

another hit.  Bazardo pitched the

8th and Munoz the 9th. He gave up

a hit however a ground ball to Colt

Emerson finished the game. 

Luke Raley wasn't able to play so

Mitch Garver was the only healthy 

player on the bench. Before the

game they decided to put Randy 

Arozarena on the injured list. The

Rainiers are out of town so they

brought up outfielder Curtis 

Washington Jr. from Everett.

He might be around for another

day before they get a replacement 

for Arozarena.

The Mariners are expecting Arozarena 

when he is eligible to come off the

Injured list. 

George Kirby will start Wednesday 

for the Mariners in game 2 against

Orioles. 

Mariners announced that they will

piggy back on Friday with Bryce

Miller and Luis Castillo. This doesn't 

end it the Mariners are planning to

piggy bank the whole six man

rotation so we will see how that 

works.  A thought is the Mariner

may do this until at least the all

star break. This will come down 

whether any starter gets hurt at all.

Adding Cal to the roster they option 

catcher Jhonny Pereda to Tacoma.

There was thought that the Mariners 

would put Rob Refsynder on the 

injured list and go with three catchers.

Had the Mariners had chosen to put

Arozarena on the injured list at the

same time they could have kept 

Pereda around. How long who knows.

Belgium Vs Egypt

Monday afternoon a large crowd

off 66,7775 saw a tough and good 

game that came to a tie between 

Belgium and Egypt at 1-1. 

The challenge had to be the hot

weather as well. For both the 

players and fans. 

Egypt scored first in the first half

and held off  Belgium who scored

in the second half. I am sure Belgium

was disappointed since they were

favored. Egypt had the ball much

of the ball throughout the match.

They had a great opportunity to

score again after Belgium had scored.

The net was as clear as you can get

however the ball went off the side of

the shooter. Those things all happen.

There were fans from both countries 

and the locals who went decided for

various reasons they rooted for one

team.  Enjoyed the area afterwards.

The next game United States vs

Australia on Friday at 12 noon.

USA will likely have a hometown 

advantage however there are

Australians who live in the area 

as well those who will visit.

The Mariners will play host to

the Boston Red Sox that evening.

Diehard fans can go to a double 

header with both.  That area 

will be busy between the two. 

Update On Arkansas Travelers

The Seattle Mariners have the Monday off 

so looking at the double A Arkansas team.

The Mariners have several top prospects 

playing for Arkansas. The Travelers are

in second place in the Texas League

North with a record of 39-23. 

Kade Anderson last year's number one

pick by the Mariners is still dominating.

He has a record of 6-0 in 11 games with

an era of 1.13. The opposing batters 

are hitting . 157 . He has pitched 55

innings with 87 strike outs. More amazing 

he has only seven walks. 

Ryan Sloan Mariner number two pitching 

prospect got off to a rough start. He showed

his potential on May 30 by throwing a perfect 

game in six innings. Like Anderson he doesn't give up a lot of balls and strike outs. The opposing teams have been hitting him

hard sometimes.  He still is only 20 years

old and playing in his second professional 

season. 

Colt Emerson still mentioned as the number

one prospect though on the Mariners now. 

So Kade and Ryan two and three.

The top position player is Lazaro Montes 

who seems to be around a long time in

the minor leagues is still only 21 years old. 

He is from the Dominican Republic and I 

have heard his personality much like Julio

Rodriguez. He is an outfielder though called 

up at a point should do some dh as well. 

He is a left handed hitter. Montes started 

the season slow as far as batting average.

He has been hot his last ten games. He 

is hitting .378 with five home runs and

18 rbis. On the season he has 20 home 

runs already.

#5 prospect is Michael Arroyo who plays

infield and has done some outfield. Unless

the Mariners trade him as a prospect with

the loss in the infield he would likely be 

utility player.  Like Lazaro he got off to a slow start. In his last ten games he has been hitting .325. Not the same power as Lazaro

and he is 21 as well.

Besides Colt now playing in Seattle those are the only three on the Travelers in top ten. The

other six are lower down. 

#13 Terry McGraw  right handed pitcher 

drafted in the third round out of Wake 

Forest in 2023 recently was promoted 

from High A Everett had injury problems before this year.  He is pitching in relief 

this season. He has pitched three innings

in three games with the Travelers and has 

not given up a run yet. Terry's last outing 

on Sunday. 

#16  Michael Morales another right handed 

pitcher drafted in 2021.  He played half a season for Travelers in 2024 as well as 2025

and now 2026.  He has an era of 5.13 this season . Michael's issue has to do with walks 

having 27 in 40 innings.  Need to turn it around.

#17 outfielder Jared Sundstrom a right handed bat. He is known for power at

the plate however for the second year

with the Travelers he struggling with his 

average and strike outs. Jared will need

turn it around to find to the majors.

#20 Marceo Perez was drafted in the

11th round in 2022 out of college. He 

seems to improve. Doesn't have

many more chances. He was a starter 

but the Mariners have moved him to

the bullpen where he has a chance to

come to Seattle. Every level the

Mariners have a lot of pitchers. They

hope someone will stick. He has pitched 

in  8 games with an era of 3.27.  He has

always done well not giving up a lot

of walks however his strike rate wasn't as 

good after his first season. Now he is 

striking out  one per inning. 

That is it for the top 20 that are at Arkansas.

Update again as the season goes. 

 

 

Mariners Have Disappointing Road Trip.

The Mariners should have a better

road trip but it ended disappointing. 

The road was 4-6 and should have

been 6-4 at least.

Bryce  Miller pitched outstanding in 

both of his games. Logan was ok

while Kirby was ok in his second 

outing though no offense helped

him out. Woo pitched awful in

his two outing so he has to go 

back to the drawing board. 

Luis Castillo was ok as well the

trouble he had no help from the

defense in either of his games.

Sunday Emerson Hancock had 

not a good game in a 10-1 loss.

Hancock lasted four innings

with the 4th where he gave up

five runs. His offspeed pitches

weren't working and the Nationals 

are a good hitting fastball team.

Later in the game Munoz had to

leave with his back. The question 

is why didn't the Mariners didn't 

pitch him after the first game on

the road before this one. I have

seen on occasion where a pitcher 

gets hurt after a long layoff.

This was the big question the use

of the bullpen in game three and

four. The Mariners home stand 

coming up is six games so will

they use the six man rotation in

it since it didn't work on the road 

trip. Nothing said yet of the rotation 

and how it goes. In a five man rotation 

Bryce Miller could pitch on Wednesday 

since he will have four days off. He

pitched eight innings so it is possible 

the Mariners may want to hold him

back another day. 

Cole Young had a hit to lead off the

first inning and Josh Naylor drove him

home with a double for only run.

In the 8th inning he to was hurt and

left after his at. There is a good chance 

he will play on Tuesday. Cal should be

activated and JP Crawford.ay as well.

Nationals Win on Saturday

The Washington Nationals beat 

the Mariners in a mid-afternoon 

game  8-3.

The Nationals scored three runs

in the first inning. All three runs

were unearned because of a

throwing error by Josh Naylor. 

The Nationals are second highest 

scoring team in the majors 

so doesn't help  having an error.

The Mariners came back to score

three runs in the top of the 5th.

Mitch Garver singled to center

with Miles Mastrobuino scoring.

For the second game in a row

Colt Emerson hit a home run to

tie. The second day in a home 

run. At such an early in his career

 Colt had six home runs. Whether 

he is going to hit a lot of home

runs or not he will be good in

that department. 

In the bottom of the 5th the M's 

had a baseball sin when Luis

 Castillo gave up a two run homer.

A pitcher should make an effort 

not give up runs after your team 

game back to tie.

Jose Ferrer gave up the final three

go the Nationals without giving a

home run. 

Sunday afternoon Emerson Hancock 

takes the mound. He is hoping so that

the Mariners win the series and comes

home with a 5-5 record on the road.

Next week the Mariners will be home

for six before going on the road again.

Friday the  Mariners  eat the Washington 

Nationals behind the pitching of Bryce

Miller who has been pitching marvelous 

since coming off the injured list

Final Mariners 10 Nationals 2

Bryce gave up two runs on four hits

with two home runs in eight innings.

He had a low pitch count as he ended

with throwing 91 pitches.  This allowed

the Mariners not use six pitchers out of 

the bullpen.  

The Mariners just brought up Michael

Rucker from triple A Tacoma and he

pitched the 9th. He gave up no hits 

and struck out one.  He threw only nine 

pitches so he can go again soon. The

Mariners could use three pitchers on

Saturday and three on Sunday without

using Rocker. 

The .Mariners scored five runs in the

second inning to get it rolling. Dominic

 Canzone hit a triple scoring Arozarena 

and Raley. He came home on a Mastrobuino 

sacrifice fly.  Colt Emerson hit a two run 

homer to finish the inning. It was his fifth

in less than a month.

The Mariners lost Arozarena their hottest

hitter to injury in the third inning so not

sure how long he will be out yet.

Luis Castillo will start Saturday in a

late a late afternoon game. Go M's.

Orioles Make Series Even

The Baltimore Orioles beat the 

Seattle Mariners 7-5 on Thursday 

evening. It doesn't look as close of 

a game as you would think. 

Bryan Woo pitched well the first two 

innings without giving up a run. 

Cole Young who led off again hit

a home run in the first inning. Much

like Brendan Donovan and JP Crawford 

before him.  He ended up with three

hits. 

The Orioles scored six runs in the 3rd

inning that included two home runs 

off of Woo. It seemed like the game

was over but the Mariners scored 

four runs in the top of the 4th to make

a possibility of a win but couldn't score

after that  though had runners on base

but not a key hit. 

Randy Arozarena started the inning

by walking then  Luke Raley hit a two 

run homer. Right after him Dominic 

Canzone hit a home run. Julio Rodriguez 

drove in the final run.

In the bottom of the 5th the Orioles 

scored another run.  Bryan Woo 

pitched through the 7th inning.

Neither team scored after that.

Alex Hoppe pitched the 7th and

8th while Nick Davila who just 

was recalled this week  came in 

with two outs in the 8th and pitched 

the 9th.  Neither gave up a hit while

Hoppe did walk two batters.

I did think it was off that again that

none of the four primary relievers

pitched. I thought at least one of 

should have pitched the 7th so

what happened Wednesday night 

wouldn't happen. I hope both

these guys become major relievers

for the Mariners. 

The status of Matt Brash even if he 

comes back soon the Mariners 

need to trade for a other high leverage reliever. Go M's.

Mariners Give Game Away

Most of this road trip the hitting was

good. Wednesday evening for the

Mariners not.

George Kirby had issues starting out

however was able to strong of getting 

batters out including striking out ten.

In the sixth inning he gave up three

runs including a home run followed 

by two doubles giving the Orioles a

3-0 lead. 

The Mariners announced that Matt

Brash went on the injured list. Instead 

of putting in a high leverage reliever 

they put in Gonzalez the pitcher they

activated for Brash. Well he ended

up giving up a grand slam that caused

the Mariners any chance to win. Now

I wonder who will take his spot.

Colt Emerson missed another game 

though he took batting practice today.

So he might be in the lineup tomorrow.

The Mariners activated Miles Mastrobuino 

as well. They sent down Ryan Bliss. 

I am sure when Brendan Donovan returns

Mastrobuino could be released as he has no options. Could end up in Tacoma if no one

takes him.

Final Orioles 7 Mariners 2

The , Mariners scored both runs in the

8th inning. Julio grounded out for the 

first run then Naylor singled in the

second run.

The Mariners and Orioles play last 

game tomorrow. If the Mariners

win the will take 3 out of 4.

Bryan Woo will be starting for the

Mariners. Go team. 

Seahawks #1 Pick Jadarian Price

Jadarian Price the last pick of the 2026

by the Seahawks likely will be the starter 

with George Holani his backup with

Zach Charbonnett out for the beginning 

of the season. 

I am sure Seahawks fans some wonder

why the didn't resign Ken Walker III who 

was the MVP of the Super Bowl. There 

are probably several reasons they didn't.

The number one reason likely they didn't 

want to pay him what the Kansas City

Chiefs ended up pay. Walker did a very

good job in the playoffs as well as the 

Super Bowl as Zach Charbonnett didn't.

The amount was too much in their minds

for someone who was going to share 

time.

Walker was known as injury prone though

he didn't miss many games. He played 

every game this last season however in

2024 he played in 11 games.. They may

made that decision then. A fact that 

a running back career isn't long either.

His contract with the Chiefs is three 

year for $45 million. The first two years

is guaranteed. So having a seven year 

career isn't bad

.

Jadarian Price was the backup running

back says a lot about him being in

the first round pick.  This could him

play longer in the NFL.

Looking at some of his highlights at

Notre Dame he looks faster than 

Kenneth Walker. He is able to go down

the middle and get to the outside.

We could see him doing both for the

Seahawks.

Price didn't catch a lot of passes at

Notre Dame however he has some 

in camp that he can catch the ball.

It will be interesting to see in the

Seahawks offense how often they

go with a fullback. Last year I saw

more success in preseason. Robbie

Ouzts who was the primary fullback 

for the Seahawks played in only three

games last year before being hurt.

In those three games he played 30

to 40.percent.  

Brady Russell listed as fullback also

did time at tight end and played 

mostly when the Seahawks were 

inside the ten yard line for a stance.

His specialty is more on special 

teams. So we hope to see Robbie

healthy for the season and bring

another aspect to the running game.

The Seahawks don't have another

fullback on the roster at this time.

Arozarena Hits Winner In Extra Innings

The Mariners beat the Orioles in

ten innings  6-5. This almost like

loss to Detroit on Sunday. The

Orioles had a chance in the 10th

to tie it again after tying in the 9th.

The  Orioles got a run in the 10th

then the Mariners were able to get 

an out at the plate or another tie.

Mitch Garver hit a three run homer 

in the third for the Mariners to take 

a three-one lead.  Arozarena drove

in a run the 7th. He has been hitting 

on this trip as well  going 10 of 19

and has driven seven runs. He had a 

two run homer in the 10th.

Besides Arozarena and Garver defense

big part in this game.

Logan Gilbert was able to go six

innings  though got off to a tough

start. The run in the first was the

Only one he gave up. He had only

three hits against him. 

The Mariners bullpen was such they

didn't have Munoz available. I checked

on it that he has only pitched in two

games in a row and not anymore. 

Jose Ferrer had tough time giving

up the tying runs.   

Nick Davila was called up from 

Tacoma pitched the 10th. The M's 

didn't have anyone else in the bullpen.

It looks like at some point the Mariners 

will have to go back to a five man 

rotation since facing the bullpen.

Cooper Criswell ended up going on

the injured list so why Davila was

activated.

In other news  Cal Raleigh made his

Rainiers debut for his rehab assignment.

He hit a two run homer in his first pitch.

In his second at bat  he hit a grand slam. 

The Rainers beat Albuquerque 15-3. 

So Cal was able to leave early.  Let's 

see what his onchore. 

A Look At The Gonzaga Men's Basketball

The Gonzaga Bulldogs had five players

who graduated along with six that 

transferred out. That sounds a lot 

for a program that has been successful 

for so many years. The downfall is

that they have never won a national 

championship.

This coming season they will be

joining the new Pac-12 in college

basketball moving from the West

Coast Conference where they have

had much success.

Most of the other new teams to the 

Pac-12  are out of Mountain West.

Many successful mid majors have

been in college basketball. Just 

look at the NCAA tournament.  With

the transfer portal it could be difficult 

in the future.

Braden Huff who most of the conference 

season is the best player to return. He

was quite affective coming off the bench

his first two years. Him and Graham Ike 

who graduated were affective duo before

Huff was hurt.

Up front starting with Huff will be Massamba

Diop a transfer from Arizona State a 7'1

center. 

The Zags will likely go with three guards

in the starting lineup.  Two of the guards

had very good freshman seasons for

the Zags. Mario Saint-Supery will be the 

point guard while Davis Fogle  wil be one

of the shooting guards. The third member

of the trio is Isiah Harwell a transfer from

Houston. He to is a sophomore as well.

Sam Funches is a 7'0 freshman who will

come in to spell Diop. Another freshman 

is Luca Foster  who is a guard coming

in to give points. Another is Parker Jefferson 

a strong forward who can spell Huff.

Izan Almansa is another big man that will 

be among the mix up front. He formerly 

played for Real Madrid.

The Zags have targeted some other

players to so see what comes during 

the summer months.  Go Zags!

Mariners Win Opening Game in Baltimore

After a disappointing lose on Sunday 

the Mariners rebound by winning the

opening game against the Otioles in

Baltimore 6-3.  Now the road trip is 

2-2. 

Before the game JP Crawford sent

on the injured list. Colt Emerson 

expected to start at shortstop however

he was stretched. He had back tightness.

I guess it can happen to a 20 year old.

The Mariners brought up Ryan Bliss

to take Crawford spot  on roster. So

Cole Young moved to shortstop and

Ryan Bliss at second base.

The Orioles scored first with a 

sacrifice fly by Pete Alonso. Ryan

Bliss tied in the top of the 5th

however the big blow Josh Naylor 

hit a grand slam home in the 5th

too. 

In the 7th the Orioles scored on a wild 

pitch. Then  in the top of the 8th 

Randy Arozarena singled scoring 

Naylor. Randy is having a very good

season so far.  He had three hits in

this game. 

The Orioles scored their final run 

in the bottom of the 8th.

Emerson Hancock who is pitching 

well for the Mariners went five

innings giving up three hits, one run,

two walks and three strike outs.

Though it would have been nice 

for Hancock to go six innings or 

so I think we would take this everyday 

he starts.  

Cooper Criswell pitched the 6th

and one out in the 7th.He gave up 

the one run. Matt Brash came in

to get the final two outs. He did

walk a batter but struck out one.

Eduardo Bazardo pitched the 8th 

and gave up the run as well. Lately 

he has been giving up runs but 

hasn't hurt the Mariners that much.

Andre Munoz who has struggled lately 

pitched the 9th.  He walked one and

struck out two. No hits though. The 

season he has a 5.40 era. We hope 

he can settle down. The Mariners 

could use Jose Ferrer and Gabe Speier 

as closer. Most likely if the other

team is mainly facing left handed

hitters. Matt Brash could close too.

Munoz needs to come in earlier 

when the Mariners have a good lead 

to pitch more often and get his

pitching in order.

Tuesday Logan Gilbert starts.

Hope he can go six plus. Go M's.

Seattle Seahawks Offensive line Into 2026

The Seattle Seahawks Offensive line 

going into this coming season is set

at four of the five spots.

The only question spot is the right

guard. Anthony Bradford has been 

the starter the last two years. Christian 

Haynes who was drafted the year 

before him in 2023 hasn't played 

up to his potential. Now he is listed 

as the backup to Grey Zabel.  Many 

that cover the Seahawks in the media

feel this is his last chance.

Bradford is still listed as the starter 

the same ones in the media feel

like he looks great sometimes and

not so much other times. So he needs

to be more consistent. It is still his

job to lose the number one spot.

This year the Seahawks draft Beau

Stephens an all-american out of

Iowa in the fifth round. Both Bradford 

and Haynes were drafted higher. So

the question is why he didn't go until 

the fifth round. I guess in training  

camp that begins in mid July we will

find out the answers to those three 

players. The rookies will report a week 

earlier so we might get answers there.

If Haynes doesn't improve his status 

we could see Stephens working out 

at both guard positions.  The Seahawks 

will have nine or ten offensive lineman 

on the roster.  They could have a few

on the practice squad. The two tackles 

are set as far as their positions however

the other starters and backups could 

move around depending on  need. It

is important the line is working together 

for some time.

So with a few questions the offensive 

line should be good for the Seahawks 

as long as not many injuries. Go Hawks.

Mariners Blow Lead Sunday

The Mariners actually had a 4-1 lead

going into the bottom of the 7th inning.

The Mariners actually had a tie until 

the 6th inning when they scored two runs

in the top of the 7th.  They went to Cooper

Criswell in the bottom of the 7th and

the Tigers scored two runs. It was still

a one run game until the bottom of

the 9th. Andre Munoz struggled once again 

giving up a hit with runners on second and

third both scoring for the win. 

The Mariners made some poor decisions 

again with pinch hitting and the bullpen.

They are decisions they seem to make

a lot and not succeed.

The Mariners actually had 11 hits and

opportunities to score more runs.

Now the Mariners go to Baltimore for

a four game series before facing the

Nationals next week end in Washington 

DC.  Emerson Hancock will start on

Monday. Go M's.

.Mariners Shut Out Tigers

The Seattle Mariners shutout the Tigers

Saturday afternoon 4-0  in Detroit.

It ended the two game hitting streak.

Bryce Miller continues to pitch well after

coming off the injured list. Only gave

up one hit, two walks and struck out 9

in six innings. Jose Ferrer pitched the

7th with no hits, a walk and a strike. 

8th inning Matt Brash who continues 

doing well gave up a walk and struck

out one. 

Gabe Speier who has done well  pitched

the 9th since he came off the injureded  

list. He gave up the one other hit. He

ended up walking a batter with one out.

He recovered by making the hitter ground

into a double play. So the pitching was

outstanding.

Dominic Canzone was the hitter of the

game. His first at bat he hit a double

to center scoring Randy Arozarena for

the first run of the game.  Randy who 

has been hitting well was second in 

hitting.  Randy hit a double in the 3rd

scoring Julio Rodriguez and Josh 

Naylor.   In the 4th Canzone hit a

solo home run over center. It traveled

over 440 feet the longest home run

by a Seattle Mariners this season. This

guy can hit a long way.  This was his

8th home run and has driven in 25 on

the season. He is hitting .275.  As far 

as regulars go in the lineup he is second

in batting average to Arozarena.

Luis Castillo will pitch on Sunday. See if

the Mariners can win the series. Since

Miller came back and they did the piggy

back with each other he did well. See if

he can continue his good pitching.

Mariners Lose Friday

The Mariners have been inconsistent

all season long. Wednesday they lost 

to the New York Mets to end an

8 game winning streak. Now they began 

a ten game road  trip losing to  the 

Tigers in Detroit.  I hope this is short 

lived to win some more games.

The Mariners scored first in the first

inning. JP Crawford and Julio got hits

right off the bat however had to wait

until Rob Refsynder hit a single with

to score JP.  In the third JP  got hit

by a pitch. He left the game in the

bottom of the third. Details after the

xray was negative however he is day

to day. The Mariners and Tigers play

in the afternoon so possibly he won't 

start on Saturday. Patrick Wisdom 

 came in for JP. He played third and

Colt Emerson moved to shortstop.

In the third the Tigers scored three

runs including a home run off of

Bryan Woo.  The scored that way 

until the 7th. Colt Emerson hit a

home run to make it close. The 

Tigers though scored two runs

off of Woo in the bottom of the

7th. Eduardo Bazardo came in 

to finish the inning.  Alex Hoppe 

who has struggled lately gave up

the final two runs in the 8th.

This was right after Mitch Garver 

drove in Josh Naylor for a run.

 Bryce Miller is scheduled to start

World Cup Starts June 15 in Seattle

Seattle will have six games at Lumen 

Field beginning June 15 of the World Cup. 

It will be exciting having the best soccer 

in the World.

Belgium will play Egypt the first game on June 15. 

The second game will be on the 

19th the home team USA vs Australia.

This should be real exciting. On the 24th

Qatar will play team to be named. 

Egypt will play Iran on the 26th. That

should be an interesting match up to

say the least. On July 1 will be a match 

of 32. That is Canada day so that could

be interesting. The final game in Seattle 

will be on July with a match.of 17.

Here we will let you know how the 

local matches go at least. I know

that not all Americans are into this 

however being the best players in

the world will be exciting.

Russell Wilson Announces Retirement

Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback 

Russell Wilson announced that he 

was going to retire from football 

and go to work for CBS Sports.

I thought he would go into the booth

like a few other former Super Bowl

quarterbacks did. Instead he followed 

Terry Bradshaw and will do the pre 

and progame shows for CBS. 

I generally don't watch the pregame 

show and on occasion the post game

show if the Seattle Seahawks are on 

TV.  It will take me time to see him 

though I may go on his debut if I 

remember. I expect that he should 

do a good job and many Seahawks 

fans will do so if they still like him.

Russell Wilson was drafted by the

Seahawks in 2012 in the third round.

He was one of those amazing stories.

The Seahawks had signed Matt Flynn

to a three year free agency contract.

Russell Wilson played his college 

ball ending with Wisconsin however

many Seahawks fans had never heard

of him.

Wilson won the job coming out of

training. He ended up being the

starting quarterback for the Seahawks 

for a decade. He start game one as a 

rookie and started every game for

eight seasons. His last two seasons

he started 15 games being out with

an injury.  

Russell Wilson became the second 

quarterback in Seahawks history. 

In his second and third seasons 

in 2013 and 14 to go to the Super

Bowl. The Seahawks dominated 

the Denver Broncos winning 43-18.

In the second game they lost to

the New England Patriots 28-24.

This was a game the Seahawks 

could have or should have won.

Many fans thought the Seahawks 

should have given the ball to

Marshawn Lynch at the goal line

instead Wilson threw a pass that 

was intercepted with 20 seconds 

left in the game. 

Now we will see if Russell Wilson

goes into the football Hall of fame.

If he doesn't most likely because of 

the throw. The Seahawks got their

revenge sort of by dominating the

Patriots in this last Super Bowl.

The Seahawks first quarterback 

to take them to the Super Bowl 

losing to the Pittsburgh Steelers 

in a controversy was Matt Hasselback.

 It was no doubt the worst officiated 

game in Super Bowl history. Matt

came to Seattle after being the backup

at Green Bay. 

Sam Darnold this last quarterback 

taking the Seahawks to a winning 

Super Bowl after signing with 

Seahawks during last off season.

When he came out he was one

of the top quarterbacks drafted 

much like his predessor Geno Smith 

by the New York Jets. Smith is now

returning to the Jets after a year 

where he and former Seahawks 

coach Pete Carroll went to Las

Vegas to play for the Raiders and

had a terrible season. Pete was 

fired and Geno got his walking

papers. Now we will see if Geno 

can do something or this will be

his Swan song.

Even after leaving the Jets Darnold 

was known for not winning the big

one including being in Minnesota 

where they went to the playoffs but

couldn't get the job done. This lead

him into free agency. Instead of 

resigning Geno the Seahawks decided 

to take the chance on Sam.

Something that Russell and Darnold 

do have in common it was the Seahawks 

dominating defense that won the 

Super Bowls. Right now Wilson would

be the best quarterback in Seahawks 

history however Darnold's book hasn't 

finished. If he is able to be the Seahawks 

quarterback to win at least a  second

time he probably will likely take that spot

even if he doesn't play a decade. Go Hawks. 

Seattle Mariners Low A Affiliate

This year the Mariners moved their 

Low A Affiliate to Island Empire

called the 66ers.

Since the Mariners have Thursday 

off to look at another minor league

team. They do have a rookie league 

team in Arizona and the Dominican 

Summer League.  The DSL as we 

call it are made of young players 

who the Mariners signed as international 

players. This is where Julio Rodriguez 

started his career.  

The 66ers have a few top prospects 

of the Mariners. So far they aren't 

doing well as a team with record

of 22-31. These prospects are outside

the Mariners top ten and were drafted

last year.

Kirby Dickerson was the Mariners 

fifth round pick last year and number

12 top prospect is playing center

field and has 5  home runs.  He is 

hitting  .283 with 19 rbis.  Cesar 

Quintas is a first baseman. He

was originally signed as an international 

player is in his third year in low A

however has improved batting .299

and is tied for the team lead with 7

homers and hss 36 rbis. He likely 

move up possibly to Everett in the

second half.

Another international player not in

the top 30 prospects is second 

baseman Ricardo Cova is in his 

third year at low A ball. He is 

hitting .291 with 5 home runs,

22 rbis and 18 stolen bases.

Aiden Taurek plays left field

batting .272 with 4 home runs

and 36 rbis. He was drafted 

last year by the Mariners in

the 13th round and the 29th

top pick.

In pitching another lefty picked

last year not named Anderson 

was drafted in the 4th round.

He doesn't have a record but 

has an era of 1.56 in nine starts.

He leads the 66ers with 51 strike 

outs. Also has only 8 walks.

He is the Mariners #15 prospect.

In July we will look at how the

66ers have done again plus a 

few other players.

The Mariners are taking on the

Tigers in Detroit Friday night.

So far no transactions setup

for this coming ten game 

road trip. 

Mariners Win Streak Ends

Wednesday afternoon the Mariners 

win streak ended at eight.

I guess if you are going to lose

you might as well lose big.

George Kirby had his worst game

of the season going four innings

and giving up four earned runs

in the 4th inning. Post game he 

said the Mets finding the holes.

The Mets actually had nine hits

off Kirby.  Eduardo Bazardo pitched

the 5th giving up a run.  Jose Ferrer 

pitched the 6th giving no runs.

Both these guys seem to be able to

pitch almost everyday.

Cooper Criswell who pitched last

night going two innings pitched 

the 7th without a run. Alex Hoppe 

gave up a run in the 8th. The 

Mariners have Thursday off then 

face the Tigers in Detroit.

Bo Bichette was the one with the

most hits for the Mets going four

for four with three rbis.

The Mariners only run was another

leadoff home run by JP Crawford 

The Mariners have Thursday off

before three game series against 

the Tigers.  The Tigers have struggled 

this year however they just swept 

the Tampa Bay Rays. We will see if

that is a good thing. 

Now the Mariners will be going with

the six man rotation. This is a good 

thing since they are going on a ten 

game road trip.  Bryan Woo will start 

against the Tigers on Friday. Bryce Miller 

and Luis Castillo next but not sure which

order.  Emerson Hancock on Monday 

against the Orioles. This will be a four

game series then next weekend three

against the Nationals in the national 

capital. 

News came out that Cal Raleigh will

start his rehabbing  on June 7 with

Everett and finish up with the Tacoma

Rainiers.  He possibly be activated when

the Mariners get home. 

No news yet when Brendan Donovan 

will start his rehab assignment. He is

on the treadmill at this time. When he 

does return I hope that the Mariners 

will still have JP in the leadoff spot 

as long as he continues doing well.

Cal should be down in the order too.

Both players may dh when they are

activated. Cal being a switch hitter

the Mariners should be able use him

against righties and lefties.  Donovan

though a left handed bat he does hit

lefties well. This may cut down some

time for Canzone at dh though he 

could play the outfield depending 

how Luke Raley is doing.  

It will be important for the Mariners 

to beat the Tigers on Friday for the

beginning of the series and  the road

trip.  Hope for a winning road trip.

A Look At the New Pac-12 Football

The new version of the Pac-12 

will start this coming fall in

football. The Washington State 

Cougars and Oregon State are the 

only leftovers if you say it that way.

ESPN who will have many of the

games on TV brought out who they

will do well and not so well. Some

games be on ESPN plus and some

on the CW. My opinion those on

local TV wherever you are at show

be shown without having to pay 

extra but probably won't happen.

Boise State who moved in from 

the Mountain West is expected 

to win the Pac 12  this year.

Washington State is expected 

to place fourth. The Cougars 

have a new head coach in Kirby

Moore and will go with a quarterback 

that hasn't proved at this level

plus a lot of turnover of players.

Oregon State didn't have a good 

season last year and has a new

coach do they are picked to finish 

sixth.

Boise State does have respect 

nationally however what turns

out how the conference does

will show respect or not.

It will be good to see how these

teams will do. Stay tuned here

Tuesday night the Seattle Mariners 

won their eight game in a row.

They continue hitting home runs.

Final Mariners 8  New York 3

The Mariners didn't have first

baseman Josh Naylor who 

had to leave Monday night with

back spasms. He is day to day.

Tomorrow's game is a day game. 

We see if he will return or not.

The Mariners have Thursday 

off as they travel to Detroit to

play a three game series against

the Tigers Friday thru Sunday.

Patrick Wisdom start at first 

in Naylor's spot. He hit a two 

run homer in the bottom of the

second.  Leadoff hitter and right 

fielder Carson Benge hit a two

run homer as well to tie.  Later

in the sixth he hit a solo shot.

At that point the Mariners had

a comfortable lead. This

was the first time Benge had

more than one  homer in a

game in his career.

Both these home runs were off

Mariner's starter Logan Gilbert

who left right after that.Eduardo

Bazardo came in to get the 

final two outs  of the sixth on

a double play. He pitched the

seventh as well where he got 

out again on a double play.

Cooper Criswell pitched the

last two innings.  He gave up 

no hits while walking one and

striking out three.  This was

his 23 game of the season for

the Mariners where he has gone 

28.1 innings. He has an era 

of 2.86.

The Mariners took the lead in

the bottom of the 3rd when

Randy Arozarena scored when

an error happened when Luke 

Raley  hit a ball in short right

field.  Patrick Wisdom scored

in the 4th on a sacrifice fly 

by Julio Rodriguez in the 4th inning.

The game broke open in the 

bottom of the 5th when catcher 

Jhonny Pereda hit a three run

home run.  This was his second 

home run this season as well as

for his major league career.

Julio Rodriguez hit a home run

in the 6th inning to end the scoring.

Julio was hot in May with 10 of

his now 13 home runs. Tuesday 

night's home run is now his 125

of his career. 

Wednesday afternoon the Mariners 

will see if they can their 9th game

in a row as well as sweeping three

series in a row.  George Kirby will

Seahawks Sign Edge Rusher To Extension

Derrick Hall is coming on his final season 

on his rookie contract.  As a rookie Hall

didn't play a lot but since has been a

valuable member of the Seahawks 

defense. 

On the depth chart Hall is listed number

two on the strong outside linebscker 

spot more known as edge rusher.

The Seahawks defense is such that he

could be moving to different spots on

the field. These days it is important to

have defense strong as well as fast.

Some teams like the LA Rams are as 8

playing three tight ends at times.

One of the tight ends may go out

for a pass while the other two are

blocking. On short yardage all three

could be blocking so Hall can be 

valuable to get through the line to 

either sack or make the quarterback 

rush his throw. The Seahawks will

show different formations to keep

the opponent off guard.

Hall signed a three year extension 

that will go through 2029.  The 

contract is for $42 million with 

incentives up to $46.9 million. 

Also $21million is guaranteed.

A contract like that he will play a 

lot especially if he is meeting 

expectations.  Go Hawks!

Ryan Sloan Mariners Pitching Prospect

Ryan Sloan the Mariners second top 

pitching prospect to Kade Anderson 

had been struggling starting the

season however in his last start 

he might have turned the corner.

This is his his first season at double A.

Last start he went six innings and threw 

a perfect game. No walks or hits.  In

fact he stuck out 11 batters as well 

Let's see how he builds from here.

Ryan is 20 years old, second round pick

by the Mariners in 2024. He waited that

long to be drafted since most teams 

figured he go to college first.  The 

Mariners  gambled and he signed 

with  them.

Right now the Mariners have a six 

man rotation. Kade Anderson may 

come upin September if not sooner. 

Ryan maybe  called up next season 

or in 2028.

The Mariners have a solid six man rotation 

plus you add Anderson and Sloan that 

makes eight. It means the rotation could

reduce by three in the next two years.

Anderson's value besides being a very 

good pitcher of the right he is the only

lefty. When he joins the Mariners he will

likely start in the third slot between four

right-handers. 

The Mariners may trade two starters 

which will be difficult to choose among

them.  Luis Castillo is the only one in

his thirties and his contract goes through 

2028. He is a good choice to trade though

be difficult since he has a no trade clause.

Logan Gilbert and George Kirby are the

closest to free agency. If the Mariners 

want to trade one or the other it could 

be in a trade. Gilbert and Cal Raleigh 

have been buddies since they were 

drafted in the same year so it could 

be difficult to trade him. 

Bryan Woo, Bryce Miller and 

Emerson Hancock are the next 

three coming  along. Woo would 

be the one likely to stay. Hancock 

who pitched in relief last September 

could go back to the pen. Miller 

might be a choice there to and 

would be difficult to decide who 

would go. 

Hancock is having a breakout 

season and we could say the best 

starter this season. 

Whatever the case the Mariners 

will get an offensive player to fit 

into their lineup. This could be

third base or the outfield. At this 

point right field. Arozarena who 

is having a very good season will 

be a free agent after the season 

of the Mariners don't resign him 

or he is traded.

This is all interesting while the M's 

are playing good ball now..

Mariners Win Again In Extra Innings

The Seattle Mariners again did

an excellent job winning in extra 

innings. Now they have won seven

straight games. This all done with

only with four hits. Bonus they won

the opening game of the series.

Final Mariners 3 NY Mets 2 

The game went into 10 innings

The two runs each team had in

regulation were all on solo home 

runs.The Mariners scored first 

with a home run by Colt Emerson 

his third since arriving on May 17 

in the third inning. 

The Mets scored their two home 

runs in the fifth and sixth inning 

off Emerson Hancock. The only 

hits that he gave up in six innings. 

Hancock didn't walk any and struck 

out seven. So far Hancock has been 

the Mariners best starter on the

season and why they are going to 

six man rotation after doing the 

piggy back for three times. This 

means that the Mariners have 

seven relievers in the bullpen.

Josh Naylor tied in the bottom of 

the seventh with his sixth home 

run of the season.  The Mariners 

four relievers in the ball game 

didn't give up a hit. Only thing 

keeping it not perfect was Matt 

Brash hit a batter in the 8th. 

In a surprise move Randy 

Arozarena stole third base to 

help setup the winning run on 

a single to left field by Cole 

Young who has done quite

well in clutch situations. 

This year the Mariners are 

doing well in extra innings 

unlike they have done in 

recent seasons. Gabe Speier 

struck out two batters in the 

top of the 10th to record the 

victory. Logan Gilbert who 

struggled for a short period 

has started well in his last 

three goes to the mound on 

Tuesday evening.

The Mariners are now 32 -29 

and are two and a half games 

above the Texas Rangers leading 

the division.

The Mariners next road trip will 

begin this Friday with three at  

Detroit followed by four against 

the Orioles in Baltimore. The ten 

game road trip will end with three 

against the Nationals in Washington 

DC. This will be a tough trip however 

it will  be good if they can come 

home with a winning record.

Los Angeles Rams Make Trade Monday

I guess we could say making a trade

on June 1st improve your team and

defense getting the best defensive

lineman in the NFL is always  good 

thing.

This is what the Rams did by acquiring 

Myles Garrett from the Cleveland 

Browns.  I wouldn't be surprised if

the Browns spoke to the  Seahawks 

too. The Rams will do whatever it

will take to dethrone the Seahawks.

We know this will improve the Rams

defense however will it make them

better likely not. The Seahawks lost

three free agents on defense during

this off-season.  They drafted defensive 

players that maybe as good as the 

players they lost.  At the very least 

those already were on the roster be

important part too.  

The trade is not official yet and the

details are not all in yet.  The word is 

the Browns will receive edge rusher 

Jared Verse from the Rams as well as 

2027 first round pick and more.  At

least the first round pick won't be

one of the top picks since they will

make the playoffs even if they can't 

beat the Seahawks next season 

either. They were probably the second 

best team in the NFL last season and 

could be again this coming season. 

For many years the  Browns have done 

terrible job when selecting several 

quarterbacks at the top of near it. No

success at all. Hopefully for their sake

they will do better with whatever they

receive from the Rams as well as their

own. 

It will be interesting this coming season.

Not easy but the Seahawks should be

favored to win another Super Bowl.

In other professional sports in the

Seattle area reports is  Melinda French

Gates ex-wife of Bill Gates has joined 

the Seattle Kraken as a minority owner 

to help acquire the Seattle Supersonics 

as an expansion team. They are likely 

the group that will bring the NBA back to

Seattle.  Hearing this news will make the

NBA happy too. 

WSU Cougars Football Quarterback Battle

At this  time the Washington State Cougars 

haven't announced who the starting 

quarterback to start the season as 

number one. There are three battling for 

the spot. 

At this point Caden Pinnick a sophomore 

transfer from UC Davis is listed number 

one. Last year he threw for 3206 yards

with 32  touchdowns passing. He rushed 

for 437 yards with three touchdowns.

Julian Dugger sophomore only played

in one  game for the Cougars throwing 

only six passes last year..He went into 

the transfer portal however changed 

his mind. Most likely he will be the 

backup unless he shows something 

in camp.

The number three candidate is redshirt 

freshman Owen Eshelman. Though he

is a long shot at this point we never

know.  

The one who wins will be the one

the coaching staff expects to have 

the best success. Go Cougars..
