Seahawks Lose Another Preseason Game

The  Seahawks lost to the Tennessee Titans
on Sunday evening on their home field
19-16.

Drew Lock looked good for the Seahawks
at quarterback.  Tight end Elijah Arroyo
had a touchdown and another catch.
He should be the Seahawks number two
receiver.

The second half is what cost the Seahawks
the game with a fumble on a punt return
and quarterback Jalen Milroe had a couple
pass interceptions. He needs to run when
the opposing team rushes him.  Take
advantage of his speed.

In the post game coach Mike McDonald
said they had a couple injuries including
rookie cornerback Bud Clark had a broken
leg and likely out for the season.

The Seahawks final preseason game
will be next Friday in Kansas City
against the Chiefs.  Go Hawks.

Seattle Mariners Blown Out By Cubs

We were hoping the Mariners would sweep
the Chicago Cubs however it wasn't meant
to be.

Final  Cubs 19 Mariners 2

The Cubs we do find out they are pretty
good hitting team. If the Mariners hadn't
had two walk offs the Cubs probably
would have swept them instead.

Before the game we found out that
Brendan Donovan had to go on the
concussion injured list. He was hit
in the head during batting practice
on Saturday. This is a tough loss
for the Mariners since he had been
the Mariners best hitter since returning.

It reminds me that I was hit  in the
back of the head by a swing when
I was catching. I still feel it on my
head of the stitches. I didn't catch again.
Back then there was no concussion
protocol.

The highlight for the Mariners was that
Randy Arozarena lead off the game
with another home run.  The Mariners
second run was in the second inning.
Nineteen unanswered runs.

The Mariners used two position  players
in the 8th and 9th inning where the Cubs
scored 12 runs. Certainly elevating their
stats. Sound like the Mariners position
player era has to be over 100. Also a
good reason to forfeit the game.

Now the Mariners will take on the Phillies
on Monday.

The Seahawks are coming up.  I hope
we don't see the punter or kicker play
quarterback in this game.

Randy Arozarena Is the Man Saturday Evening

Kade Anderson made his major league
debut which was good for the most part
however Randy Arozarena was the man
for the Mariners.

Kade Anderson ended up pitching
for the  Mariners into the sixth inning
getting two outs. He unfortunately
gave up  three runs.  Two were off
home runs in the sixth inning.  He
gave up only five hits with three runs.
Anderson three a few more pitches
than he had in double Arkansas.
The Mariners should have taken him
out after the fifth or certainly giving
up one hit the sixth. Kade look like
he belongs.

Arozarena led off the first inning
with a home run. He stole a home run
from the Cubs to before they tied the.
game in the fifth.  The  Mariners took a
lead again briefly in the bottom of the
5th.

The Cubs three runs in the top of the.
sixth with two home runs off Kade.
The Mariners brought in Carlos Vargas
fir the first time of the season for
Kade. He gave up the third run. He
shut down the Cubs in the 7th though.

Neither team scored again until the
bottom of the 9th. It looked like the
Cubs all the way since they got the
Mariners first two outs.   The excitement
happened with Weston Wilson who took
Brendan Donovan spot who had gotten
hit in the head by a ball in the batting
cave.  By the way Donovan will be ok.
Wilson got a hit .

Leo Rivas the Walkoff hitter Friday night
got a hit to drive in Wilson to make
the Mariners down by one.  Arozarena
came to the plate again. Randy hit
a walk off home run for the Mariners.
Now the Mariners have won the series
going into Sunday.

There is no doubt that Randy Arozarena
is Kade Anderson's best friend for his
major league debut that he won't forget.

Final Mariners 5 Cubs 4

Oh by the way the Astros and Rangers
both lost.  Mariners down three now.

Go M's

Mariiners Win Opener of New Homestand

It took the Mariners ten innings to beat
the Chicago Cubs at home  6-5.

The Cubs got off to a good start
hitting two home runs off Emerson
Hancock  to make it 3-0.

Emerson settled down not giving up
another run when he left with two
outs in the sixth inning.

The Mariners tied and took the lead
in the second inning when Cal Raleigh
hit a three run homer.  Brendan Donovan
hit a single to drive in the go ahead run.
He is hitting .379 in his last seven games.
He could be a key the rest of the way.

Arozarena drove in a run in the 5th
to make it a two run lead. Unfortunately
the Cubs had two more home runs in
the 8th and 9th to tie.

The Mariners  were able to hold the
Cubs in the 10th.  Victor Robles bunted
Randy Arozarena moving to third. Julio
wasn't able to get a hit out of the infield.
Leo Rivas though singled up the middle
to win with Arozarena scoring.

Before the game the Mariners activated
Carlos Vargas who had been out all
season after being on the injured list.
He didn't get into Friday's game however
should help the bullpen. We could see
him in Saturday's game.

JP Crawford  is going to do a rehab for
the Tacoma Rainiers Saturday and Sunday.
Monday we will see whether he is added
onto the roster.

Saturday Kade Anderson is going to make
his major league debut for the Mariners.
Right now Ryan Woo isn't going on the
injured list so may start in this homestand.
Does this mean the Mariners go back to
a six man rotation or do the piggy back
which they did a little in July. How Woo
along with Bryce Miller and George Kirby
pitching recently the piggy back  could
be the way to go.

September 1st the rosters expand so the
Mariners could go to the six man rotation
as well as eight pitchers in the bullpen.
It will work if the starters can go six innings
regularly.  Go  M's.

News came out Friday that Seahawks
lost  wide receiver in the joint workout
with the Titans. It looks like he will be
out for the season. Also wife receive
Troy Horton be out for a while too.
This means two receivers will make
the opening day roster who may not
have otherwise. Go Hawks.

Seattle Seahawks Travel To Nashville

The Seahawks are in Nashville Tennessee
to take on the Titans on Sunday in their
second preseason game.

The Seahawks left early for the two
teams are doing joint practices. This
is something thing they have done
recently. Some have been on the
road as well as at home.  This allows
to feel going against an opponent
than just practicing against each other.

The Seahawks signed Trevon Diggs
a cornerback early in the week to
add depth to the team.  In his six
seasons in the NFL and the Dallas
Cowboys Diggs played two full seasons
in 2021 and 2022.  Since then he has
played strangely.  Last year he played
eight games with the Cowboys and
one with the Green Bay Packers.

The Seahawks have made other moves
during camp.  Most the players will
likely be on the practice squad  if they
stick around.

Losing to the Cowboys I am sure the
Seahawks want to win this one though
defending the Super Bowl is more
important.  Go  Hawks.

Myles Gaskin who is one of Washington
Huskies greats spent most of his  NFL
seasons as a running back with the
Miami Dolphins and spent a little time
with the Seahawks announced that he
is retiring from the NFL. We wish him
the best.

Brewers Take Series Over Mariners

Thursday afternoon the Seattle Mariners lost
to the Milwaukee Brewers 7-4.

George Kirby had a bad outing giving up
six runs in the first inning against the
Brewers. He was able to last into the
4th inning before being replaced  with
one out.  Brewers are good at hitting
and had no e hits against Kirby.

The Mariners on the bright side the road
trip was 4-5 though could have switched at
least 5-4 some where.

Logan Gilbert in the last several weeks
has been the primary starter the Mariners
can could on.  The talent of the starters
they should be able to win 3 out of 5 games.
The trouble is the offense hasn't always
cooperated either. In fact they have have
scored three runs or less  in at least 65 games
which doesn't help either.

The Mariners were able to bounce back
a little by scoring two runs in the second
and fourth innings.  Unfortunately were
unable to add on after that which has been
trouble this season.

The Mariners now will play the Cubs over
the weekend at home. We hope better
from the pitching standpoint as well as
the hitting. Go M's.

Update;  Mariners number one pitching
prospect Kade Anderson has been called
up to start Saturday's game against the
Cubs.  We will have that goes for the starting
rotation and the bullpen.  The Mariners could
use putting a starter into the bullpen unless
someone goes into the bullpen. Stay tuned.

Mariners Win Wednesday Night

The Mariners got off to a great start
against the Milwaukee Brewers  then
were able to hold to win.

Final Mariners 7 Brewers 5

The Mariners scored four  runs in the
first inning then three more in the second
before the Brewers worked their way
back into the game.

All seven runs were done without hitting
a home run. The Mariners show on occasion
they actually can score without homers
though has been a weakness in their game.
It something the Brewers are very good at.
For the Mariners to make the playoffs it
is important for them to do so.  Since
May when they had a good month hitting
home runs they have stimbled since.

What the Mariners need to do is add at
least one bat for the  middle of the lineup
who can be effective in driving in runs
with runners in scoring position during
the off-season.

Randy Arozarena  leads the Mariners in
on base percentage at .366. He is third
in home runs on the team and leads in
doubles.  The Mariners on base percentage
team average is .309 compared to .320
last year.  Batting average is .230 compared
to  .244 last year.

Taylor Ward was back in the lineup after
missing five games. He had a key single
driving in two in the first inning. Be good
have him back.

Logan Gilbert went five plus innings then
left with no outs in the sixth inning. He
gave up three runs and walked four batters.
Reliever Dominguez came in the 8th after
Azardo and Ferrer had come in. Speier
had to come in with two outs as Dominguez
had given up two runs. Munoz got the save.

The Mariners were knock out the  Brewers
starter after two innings however weren't
able to score off the bullpen.

Thursday's game  will be day game. George
Kirby expected to start. This weekend at
home they will face the Chicago Cubs. Bryan
Woo should start the first game followed by
Emerson Hancock. Expect Bryce Miller on
Sunday though he didn't pitch well on Tuesday.

The Mariners are still four games ahead of
the Astros as they won.   Rangers lost so
the Mariners are now two games behind
them.  Go M's !

Washington State Cougars Men's Basketball

The Cougars football team getting for their
season opener on September 6 the men's
basketball team is about five weeks before
camp begins. Their first game will happen
on November 21 which is close to the end
of football season.

The Cougars have fifteen players on
the roster.  They have three incoming
freshmen and two redshirt freshman
so that is one-third of the roster.

Generally a team will play ten players
during non-conference schedule.
When the conference starts playing
which usually happens in January
the team sometimes go with eight.
The other two players will get in some
playing time. A lot depends whether
players get into foul trouble or not.

The Cougars will have three sophomores,
five juniors and two seniors on the roster
as well.  The Cougar have only two players
returning from last year's team. Ten players
left through the transfer portal. The life
of teams in college basketball especially
those who have a losing record. Last year
the Cougars had a record of  12-20 and
places 8th in the final season in the West
Coast Conference.  Gonzaga transferred
to the Pac-12 conference after dominating
the West Coast Conference for many years.

The Cougars start the season on  November
21 against Duke.  Of course a high profile
opponent. Last week it was announced that
Cougars will play Seattle University at Climate
Pledge Arena  on December 19.  Last year
they played each other twice being part of
the West Coast Conference where each team
win on their home court.

We will be following the Cougars and Gonzaga
men's basketball in a regular basis when the
season begins. This will be the same for the
Washington Huskies and let you know how
Seattle University does too. Go Cougars!

Mariners Blown Out Tuesday Night

Not much to say in this game.  Not only
the hitting is lacking once again the
Mariners pitching was terrible to.
We just hope this one a one time deal
in this series.  We wonder if there will
be a shakeup when they return home
after Thursday's game.

Bryce Miller was reported having blisters
on his hands. Sounds like still effecting
him. Is it time to put him on the injured
list.Besides a team underperforming
injuries have been a problem too.

Final was Brewers 22 Mariners 0

Mariners actually had a chance to score
s run in the first inning. Brendan Donovan
reached third base with one out but they.
could bring him home.  The Brewers were
able to do in the bottom of the inning.

The Brewers five runs in the 5th and Miller
was replaced with two outs. Josh Simpson
came and gave up five more in the 6th.
The Brewers scored two in the 7th and
then infielderro Rivas pitched in the 8th.
He surrender nine runs.
time
The Brewers starter went five in then
gave to the bullpen. Makes a lot of sense.
Until next go M's.

The Latest On Mariners Colt Emerson

Last Friday the Mariners were going
go to send Mariners top prospect
down to triple A Tacoma as he was
struggling at the plate.  Instead the
Mariners put in the ten day injured
list because of his left wrist.

It has come to light the Colt originally
injured the wrist back during spring
training. Amazing that the could
perform as well as he could until the
last month or so.

Now has come out Colt will likely
need to have surgery on the wrist.
He will be done for the season.
At least this point he should be
ready to go when spring training
starts. He should still be considered
the Mariners starting shortstop.

Right now Brock Rodden who came up
for him on Friday will be the starting
shortstop.  There is no news when
JP Crawford will return from the
injured. He has the same injury
as Colt. Besides   Rodden at shortstop
Leo Rivas would be his backup when
Rodden would need a day off.

For the time being Brendan Donovan
is the Mariners third baseman. If the
Mariners need to give Donovan a day
off Weston Wilson will be the one
playing.  Wilson can play first base
if Naylor needs a day off as well.
Rivas can play  third or second base
as well.

Ryan Bliss who is playing for the Rainiers
would be the next guy up if the Mariners
need someone if another shortstop is
injured. He can play second base too.

Taylor Ward hasn't played for the Mariners
for the past four games. He is currently
day to day recoveryfrom injury. We see if
he is in the lineup  Tuesday against the
Milwaukee Brewers. Go M's.

Mariners Kade Anderson and more

Kade Anderson the Mariners number one
pick and third overall in 2025 has dominated
double A in his first professional season.

Anderson has been taken care of the Mariners
pitching once a week.  He has 18 starts just
over five innings per start.  His record is 10-1 with
a 1.06 era. He has given up only four home runs
on the season.  His next scheduled start hasn't
been announced. There is thought he might be
up soon. He is considered the Mariners 6th
starter so if anyone goes down he is next up.

On Friday the Mariners brought up Brock
Rodden. The thought was Colt Emerson
would be sent to Tacoma instead was placed
on the injured list. Most likely to Tacoma when
he gets off the injured list. Rodden had three
hits in his first three games over the weekend.
In Fridays game he drive in two runs though the
Mariners lost in extra innings. He might be
the spark the Mariners need.

Ryan Sloan the Mariners number two draft pick
in 2024 and the Mariners number two prospect
got off to a slow start on the season. He has
pitched about the same as Anderson but not
at the same level. There is thought he may
come up September when the Mariners expand
the roster. The Mariners could use him out
of the bullpen. We will really see how that goes.

Michael Arroyo  began the season at double A
as well however recently was called up to Tacoma.
There was thought that he might be called up
to Tacoma but in this instance he doesn't play shortstop. Most of his minor league career has been at second  base.  This year though he has played
some left field as well.  He could still be called up
in September.

Lazaro Montes outfielder starter in double A
and was called to Tacoma when Arroyo was.
He got off to a slow start with the Rainers
however he is hitting .288 which is slightly
above Arroyo. He has ten home runs so far
triple A after hitting 25 in double A.  He is
a powered hitter.  Playing at T-Mobile Park
being a left handed hitter will benefit him.

At this point it is hard to know whether
the Mariners will make the playoffs or
not. They are four games behind the Astros
after winning this series over the weekend.
They start a series in Milwaukee on Tuesday.
The  Brewers having a very good season
and we know how the Mariners have been
playing. So it is still wait and see with them.

If the Mariners don't make the playoffs
there is thought that manager Dan Wilson
will be fired.  If so who will be the next
manager?  There is thought that Rodden
and Arroyo will be on the roster as well
as Colt Emerson.  Montes could be in
the mix in the outfield and dh. The other.
question will they make a trade during
the off-season. Stay tune and see what
happens. Go M's.

Washinton State Scrimmage

The Washington State Cougars football team
had their first scrimmage on Saturday too.

Both coordinators like the fact that are starting
to form their own identity.

Still no news who the starting quarterback
will be however the offense should be good
like former Cougar teams.

They ran only 76 plays compared to what the
Huskies did but that doesn't matter as long as
you get out what you want to do.

The success of the Cougars will come down
to their defense.  Having a lot of new players
with new coaches makes the time right now
difficult. See what happens over the season.

The Oregon State Fesvers are going through
the same. These two are the only remaining
teams from the Pac-12.

Boise State one of the newcomers to the
Pac-12 have always had good teams. In
the past played will against the teams in
the conference whether they won or not.
They are expected to win the Pac-12 this
year so be interesting to see how it goes
and whether the Pac-12 will be good.
Go Cougars.

Seattle Wins Series Against Astros

Sunday evening on national television
the Seattle Mariners beat the Astros
3-2.

The Mariners haven't done well when
scoring three runs or less.  I fact a bit
earlier in the season the Mariners
scored no more than three runs in
12 straight games. I know the fans have
been frustrated as well as the players.

This wasn't a clear cut win either.
The was some tough times like when
Josh Naylor hit a hard one with runners
on base right to the first baseman who caught
it.

Cal Raleigh who has struggled at  the plate
hit a home run in the 6th inning. Seeing
Josh Naylor on the bench since he was
stealing third base after stealing second.
That would have made it a two run lead
which would have been easier.

Earlier in the game Brock Rodden had.
another hit for the third straight game.
He scored as  well. He is being a spark
plug.  He had a walk as well.

Not sure when JP Crawford will return.
I expect  he will play some shortstop
though he could still play some third base.
I expect that Colt Emerson will go to
Tacoma  when he gets off the injured list.

Now the Mariners are going to play the
Milwaukee   rewers for three games on
the road beginning on Tuesday. Go M's.

Washington Huskies Fall Scrimmage On Saturday

Head coach Jeff Fisch liked the depth of Huskies
team as they ran 125 plays. It was the  defense
that most shined.

Fisch reallyijed the Huskies starting safeties.
Alex McLaughlin was used all over over the.
field much like Devon Witherspoon. The other
safety was Rylon Dillard- Allen.  Fisch said they
are two of the best safeties he has seen and
pointed out three former play in the NFL right
now. What he likes most is their speed.

Playing in the Big Ten like against Indiana, Oregon
and Michigan it is important to have s good defense.
Hopefully they will cause some turn overs.
The Huskies were without the Hatchet  brothers
on the offensive line who rehabbing however let others get in some good play time.

The Huskies will have another scrimmage
before their opening game in three weeks
against the Washington State Cougars.
Even if you are a big favorite as the Huskies
are you don't want to take them lightly.
The first game in Big Ten is the last Saturday
in September so you want to be ready for them.
Go Dawgs.

Seahawks lose Preseason Opener However A Win

Preseason games don't really mean a lot
in the whole scene of things.  The Dallas
Cowboys beat the Seahawks 17-7.

Drew Lock started the game then Jalen Milroe
came in the second quarter. Lock  played the
third while Milroe did the 4th.

Lock was able to have use of some starters
but Milroe did not.   The Seahawks scored
first then it was Cowboys the rest of the way.
At least Milroe was able to get them in field
goal range in the second quarter but it was
missed.  The score was 10-7 at the half.

The Seahawks had eight penalties on the
day which was better than the Cowboys
although most were holding calls. Milroe
was sacked like three times and he should
have thrown the ball. I expect his next game
he will be better at it.  He showed his
running ability on several occasions including
a 20 yard run.

The good news was that cornerback Devon
Witherspoon was signed to a four year extension
for $132 million. Of that $101 million is guaranteed.
He has an option for a fifth year. He will be the
highest paid cornerback in the NFL  right now
anyway.  Go Hawks.

Mariners Even Series In Houston

The Mariners really needed to  win Saturday
evening Houston beat the Astros 10-5.

Emerson Hancock did a good job going
seven inning. He gave a run in the 1st
and 2nd inning then settled down.  He
struck out eight Astros while walking two.

The game went by fast going about two
hours while Seahawks are still playing in
the 3rd quarter.

Jose Ferrer gave up a two run home in
the 8th. Newcomer Seranthony Dominguez
pitched the 9th doing a good job. He gave
up a run however a ball that Victor Robles
dove for went for  a triple so I don't count it.

The Mariners actually scored seven runs
without a home run. Rookie Brock Rodden
in his second game had another double.
Brendan Donovan just coming back had
three hits on the night. Cole Young who
was moved down had three hits too.
He had the only homer in the game
at the top of the 9th scoring three runs
to cabit off.

The Mariners and Astros play a later on
Sunday being on NBC. It would be nice
to win the series in that one. Go M's.

Mariners Lose In Walk Off Fashion

The Seattle Mariners offense did the job
Friday night against the Houston Astros.
however the Mariners pitching wasn't
there.

It is a bit ironic since the offense has
been the trouble much of the season.
Final Astros 10-7.  George Kirby gave
up five runs  in four two-thirds innings.
The bullpen did a good job until
Andre Munoz came and he gave up
five runs including a walk off three-run
homer.

News was that the Mariners were sending
down shorstop Colt Emerson to triple A
Friday morning instead he went on the injured
list.  Infielder Brock Rodden who played
shortstop. In the 8th inning he had his first
major league hit with a double scoring Weston
Wilson to tie it 5 -5. In the tenth he hit a
sacrifice  fly to make it a two run lead. A
good way to start it out.

The struggle most of the season is that
it has been the hitting has been bad
and the  pitching good but now when
it counts both are not working together.
We hope Saturday they can both do well.
Go M's.

First Camp Scrimmage For Washington Huskies

The Washington Huskies football team
have about a week of practice after starting
camp on August 6.  They have their
scrimmage Saturday night. The first game
will be on Sunday September 6.

College football season for the Washington
Huskies  begins in three weeks from this
Sunday on September 6.   The Apple Cup
against the Washington State Cougars
it will be the first time to start a season.

The Washington Huskies will be big favorites
against the Cougars who have a new head
coach as well as a lot of new players as well.
The first game of the season is never known
how it will go. The game could be a lot closer
or a blow out.

The Huskies will have quarterback Desmond Williams Jr  to start for the second straight
year and third into the program.  He is familiar
with most of the wide receivers and tight end.
The running game will be interesting although
the Huskies have  had good ones throughout
their history. Most likely they will get the running
game going however we will see a few passes
in the first series.  Jonah Coleman was the
starting running back but he has now graduated
to the NFL and so coach Jeff Fisch the opportunity
to start someone else.  Go Dawgs.

Mariners End Losing Streak

It was a close game for the Mariners
and Yankees however it means
Seattle is not further out in the race.

Thursday afternoon the Mariners beat
the Yankees 1-0  in New York. Logan
Gilbert went six innings for the Mariners
giving up only four hits while walking
one batter and striking out  seven.

The Mariners had only five hits in the
game. The one run happened in the
second inning when Weston Wilson
hit a home run. This meant a tight
rope for the Mariners which has been
going on a while.

The bullpen did not give up a hit in
three innings though Eduardo Bazardo
did struggle with two walks. Jose
Ferrer who has had his ups and downs
took care of the Yankees as he fsce the
top of the order against lefties. Finally
Munoz who has had little pitching time
as of late got through the 9th.

How the bullpen has done lately the
critics wonder why he can't come
in earlier in games.  When Scott
Servais was manager Munoz would
come in the 7th or 8th inning depending
on the matchups. The same was for
Paul Sewald when he was the closer.

Since Matt Brash went on the injured
list and the Mariners went with six
starters before the deadline the bullpen
was in better place. Bazardo having
trouble as of late it has been hard along
with the offense not scoring enough
runs.

The Mariners now go to Houston to
take on the division leading Astros.
Last year and earlier this year the M's
have had their number. The Mariners
do have the tie breaker  if the two.teams
end in time for first place. As we know
the Mariners haven't played the way to
get that done. This weekend would
make it a lot better if the Mariners can
beat the Astros in Houston.

The Mariners are currently down by five
games so if they sweep the Astros that
would help a whole lot.  The Rangers
are down to the Astros by a game. The
Angels have won two games while the
Rangers one. So another loss would be
nice. The Rangers play the A's on the
road this weekend.

We wish the Mariners can take this
series as it is important. After that
the Mariners play  the Brewers in
Milwaukee.  They do have  Monday
off before taking on the Chicago
Cubs at home. Go M's.

Mariners Lose After Good Start

The Mariners were beaten 10-5 to the
Yankees Wednesday evening making
it six losses in a row.

The Mariners started off well in the
first inning with a homer run by Arozarena
and Rodriguez for three runs.

In the second the Yankees scored a run
and in the 3rd inning Canzone hit a
a  home run to make it 4-1. In the bottom
of the 3rd the Yankees scored two runs
making it 4-3.

In the 5th Josh Naylor  singled making it
5-3. In the bottom of the 5th the Yankees
tied it.  In the 7th the Yankees scored
three runs against the bullpen and two
more in the 8th.

The hitters did well for a change but the
pitching did not. Maybe this is a start
to something. Tomorrow they play a
day game. Go M's.

Seahawks Fullback Out For Season

Robbie Ouzts who was going into his
second season with the Seahawks is
going to miss this while season.
He was placed on injured reserve for
a neck injury.

Last season he missed the final five
games and the playoffs. A talented
player the Seahawks drafted out of
Alabama. The Seahawks were wanting
to expand his role beyond just being
a blocking with running or catching the
ball. I remember seeing in the preseason
and be very impressive. Now it is a question
whether he will have a career or not.

Brady Russell who was his backup may
move into his role. He has played some
tight end for the Seahawks as well as
playing very well on special teams. The
question can be or anyone be as good
as Robbie. We will have to see if the
answer comes or not.

Zach Charbonnett won't be available for
several weeks to be back for the Seahawks.
He likely will miss four weeks at least. Zach
is bigger and different than the other running
backs. When he returns he likely will split
time with first round pick Jadarian Price.
With Zach my question could the Seahawks
go with two running backs at the same time.
Zach could work like being a full back. The
question is how good a blocker is Price or
any other running backs. I am not sure the
Seahawks have even talked about it. I
guess we will see.

The Seahawks have their first preseason
game on Saturday at home.  So it could
be answered or stay tuned.  Go Hawks!

Mariners Continue Their Struggle

The Mariners continue to struggle in
the hitting department again in the
opening game Tuesday night against
the Yankees in New York.

Final Yankees 4 Mariners 1

Yes the same score as was Sunday's
game against the Rays.

The Mariners scored  first with a solo
home run by Randy Arozarena in the
sixth inning.  Bryan Woo went five innings
giving up three hits and a walk. He threw
92 pitches for the reason he didn't go
further.

Jose Ferrer pitched the 6th doing a good
job. Mike Rucker came in the 7th. He gave.
up a double, two singles and a walk. He
got one out. The Yankees scored  two runs.
Bazardo came in and gave up two hits
that allowed the final two runs. Both runs
though went to Rucker.

Bryce Miller will start Wednesday for the
Mariners. We hope for a recovery from
his last two outings and that the Mariners
get out of their funk hitting wise. The M's
won't have much to celebrate other wise.
Go M's.

Washington State Cougars Football Day 5

Tuesday is day five for the Cougars as they
prepare to take on state rival Washington Huskies
on September 6.   The game doesn't have the
same meaning as it used to be as the Huskies are now in the Big Ten and the Cougars begin play in
now the new Pac-12.

The Cougars are hoping eventually the new
Pac-12 will match up the old one but it could
take some time especially with the transfer
portal.

The Cougars have a new coach in Kirby Moore.
A native of Washington you would hope he
sticks around for a while. This will be his first
year as a head coach.  If he has success over
the next three or four years another school or
the NFL could call.

At this time the Cougars are ranked third in
the Pac-12 on the offense side. A lot of that
has to do with some returnees and the fact
that Moore was an offensive coordinator too.

The offense has 7 of 11 return players for
supposed tgeir first unit. The second team
shows the same at the moment. The Cougars
haven't named their starting quarterback
although transfer  Caden Pinnick is expected
to be the one. Right now they are ranked number
three offense in the conference.

The defense  had a good day on Monday so
that is good sign. For the Cougars to have
success the defense has to be good too.
The defense is opposite of the offense where
most of the players have transferred in
so probably take time to play together.
The Cougars have history of throwing the
ball on offense. At times they score early
and then the defense blows it. We hope this
does change. Go Cougs!

Washington Huskies Have A Return Football Player

On  August 6 the Washington Huskies training
camp. Until Sunday the players didn't wear pads.
There was observation when each unit ran drills.
This was to help the team to watch each one was
doing. Now they are going through normal drills.

Defensive tackle Ta'uta'i Uiagaleli returned as
he was given another year of eligibility by a court.
Now he is back certainly adds depth to this
group of tackles. Injuries do happen so having
him around will certainly help a good group too

The Huskies have a good of players on both
sides of the ball. The offensive line first unit
looks good. The second unit will get in some
playing time to add experience and rest the
starters. How often they get in I expect will
depend on how long they are in on each series.
An example if the offense has a series where they
play over ten plays we could see a backup or two
on the next series. This could depend how long
the defense unit stays in too. Of course it works
the other way.

It will be interesting to see who the running back
and wide receivers will be for both the first and
second units. Right now it is competitive. We might
not know until the Apple Cup who will start.

We will see the defensive backs and linebackers too
Go Dawgs.

Seahawks First Preseason This Saturday

The Seattle Seahawks take on the
Dallas Cowboys this Saturday in the
first preseason game at Lumen Field.
It is interesting in the season the
Seahawks and Cowboys will play
again. This doesn't happen often.

We will likely not see the regulars
in this one including quarterback
Sam Darnold. He isn't considered
in the top ten quarterbacks in the
NFL which is ok. The importance
is to build on last season and cut
down on interceptions.

The thought is this season the Seahawks
won't go with three quarterbacks on the
regular roster. They may bring someone
in to be on the practice squad. Most likely
to be there in case of an injury.

Jalen Milroe a rookie last year and third
quarterback didn't play a lot however if
he has a good camp then he could be
on the opening roster. His ability to run
as well as pass the Seahawks could use
him in short yardage. It would be nice
to have him play at least one series a
game depending how the game is going.
Maybe set up somewhere in the second
half even if Darnold plays the rest of the
game.

Drew Lock has come into camp as
the back so he certainly could keep
his job. Most likely he or Milroe will
be traded. The chances if the Seahawks
released Milroe would be picked up by
someone and the same for Lock. At least
getting a draft pick at least be nice.
Go Hawks.

Mariners Offense Struggles Again

It was another big night where the unvailing
of the Mariners top 50 players in the 50 years.
This didn't help the Mariners out offensively.
Loved watching the ceremony.

Final Rays 3  Mariners 2

Josh Naylor was the Mariners offense on
the night. He had a home run in the second
and another in the 7th.  The Rays had two
runs in the 6th inning after tying in the 4th.
Both runs were unearned on a fielding error.

George Kirby event five innings giving up
the one run.  Michael Rucker was in so he
recorded the loss.

The Rays lost their starter before the game
so they went with seven relievers which
besides Naylor the Mariners couldn't take
advantage. Let's see what happens Sunday
afternoon. Go M's.

. Mariners Almost Shutout Friday

The Seattle Mariners still continue having
trouble scoring runs even after the recent
trade line.

The Mariners lost Friday night to the Tampa
Bay Rays 2-1 in Seattle on current homestand.
This is the 24th time they have scored one
run or less this season.  They have been
shutout 11 times in the season. Julio
Rodriguez hit a home run in the bottom
of the 9th with two outs. Close call right.

The Mariners are 3-3 so far in August
and 3-4 on this home stand with two
games remaining. The Mariners are now
4 games behind the Houston Astros.

The Mariners team batting average for
August is .225 slightly below the .229
for the season the worst in baseball.
In their last ten games hitting .217.

George Kirby will start Saturday night
for the Mariners. Before the game the
Mariners will unvail the top 50 players
in Mariners history as it is their 50th
year. Most of the those players will
be on hand.

Logan Gilbert pitched into the 7th
getting two outs before Bazardo
got the last out. Both runs by the
Rays were solo home runs in the
2nd and 3rd innings.

Jose Ferrer pitched the 8th giving
up one hit. Seranthony Dominguez
pitched the 9th and looked better
than his first outing. This time one
hit, one walk and struck out two.

Now we see on this special night
the Mariners can break out of their
hitting slump. Go M's.

Mariners Blown Out Thursday Afternoon

After Wednesday win and  Gabe Speier kicked
out I thought the Mariners would have played
more of an inspired game.

Final Tigers 11 Mariners 0

Bryce Miller had a tough first two innings
giving up three runs in the first inning
and then one in the second. He was able
to go five innings and didn't give up anymore
runs.

Michael Rucker pitched the 6th with no
runs. Colt Wilcox gave up four runs in
the 7th with one unearned. He had to
leave with two outs because of his oblique.
Sure he will go in the injured list.

Josh Simpson took his spot. He pitched
the 8th as well as finishing the 7th.

The Mariners put in outfielder Victor Robles
to pitch the 9th. He gave up three runs.

Now the Tampa Bay Rays come to town.
This weekend they celebrate the 50th
anniversary of the Mariners. We hope
better baseball will be played.

Friday night after the game will be the
home run contest led by Ichiro. The
game won't be shown on Mariners TV
which was not a good move. The home
run contest will be.

Saturday will be the unvailing of the
Mariners all time 50 players. We will
know some it will be interesting to see
who else is.  Go M's.

PS manager Dan Wilson was suspended
for a game and Speier for three though
hopefully go to no more than two. A
goid game for Dan to set out.
.

Washington Huskies Open Training Camp

The Washington Huskies start training
camp on Thursday. The season opener
begin in one month on Sunday September
6 at Husky Stadium at 1 pm Pacific Time.

The Huskies take on the Washington State
Cougars in the Apple Cip on that day.
It is interesting to start the season this
way. In the past while both were part
of the Pac-12 they would play the last game
of the season generally.

The Huskies are ranked 7th in the  Big Ten
and nationally #19. The Huskies will play
every game in September at home. The
last game of the month will begin the
schedule of the Big Ten against Minnesota.

The Huskies are considered a top 20
nationally on defense. Last year they
were 15th in scoring defense and 12th
against the run.  They should be around
that once again.

On offense Desmond Williams Jr returns
as the quarterback. He has a talented
group of receivers though young in
experience.  Last year's top receiver
Denzel Boston  left early to the NFL
being drafted by the Cleveland Browns
in the second round.

The big question on offense is  the running
game as last year's top running back Jonah
Coleman graduated. Jonah was drafted in
the 4th round by the Denver Broncos. He is
getting high praise by their coaching staff.
The Huskies will have to depend on all new
guys.  The Apple Cup will show where tgey
go there.

The Huskies are favored over the Cougars
by 21.5 going into the game.  The Cougars
are playing in the new Pac-12 with mostly
schools coming over from the Mountain
West. It will no longer be them and Oregon
State who were thesst standing of the
Pac-12.

The Cougars have a new head coach Kirby
Moore who was offense coordinator at
Missouri. It will be interesting for the first
time head coach.  Not only WSU has a new
coaching staff they will have a lot of  new
players too.  Kitvy won't name his starting
quarterback until a week before the opening
game. They have three candidates.

Moore is familiar as he grew up bin Prosser
Washington. A wide receiver he played his
college ball at Boise State who will be one
of the new schools in Pac-12.  In fact they
are favored to win the conference.

Going into this season the Cougars Cougars
are figured to end in 5th in the Pac-12.
Here we will recap each game the Cougars
and Huskies play over the season. We hope
success for both teams.  Make our job
a lot easier. Lol

Mariners Even Series

Wednesday night the Seattle Mariners
beat the Detroit Tigers 4-2.

Neither team scored a run until Julio
Rodriguez hit a three run homer. Canzone
was intentionally walked in front him.
Didn't they learn anything from the Reds
when Cal hit a home run.

Bryan Woo another good game going
7 innings giving up three hits, one walk
and struck out five.

Gabe Speier was kicked out in the
game in the 8th inning for hitting a
Tiger intentionally with two outs.
Ridiculous call. Bazardo comes in
and gives up another home run.

Colt Emerson hits home run in
the bottom of the 8th. Munoz struck
out two in the 9th for another save.

The batting order was the same as
Tuesday's game. Taylor Ward had
his first Mariners hit.

Thursday will be afternoon game.
Bryce Miller will pitch.

Mariners are two and a half behind Astros
The Rangers won Wednesday while
the Astros lost.  Go M's.

Mariners Lose Tuesday Night

The Seattle Mariners lost the opening
game of the series to the Detroit Tigers
8-0. We hope what happened against
the Twins winning the final two games.
Please don't make them walkoffs.

I am not into too many one run games
Newcomer reliever Seranthony Dominguez
gave up four runs in the 9th. We hope
the worst game he pitches in a Mariners
uniform. They were going to lose anyway.

Detroit starting pitcher is a good one.
He went seven innings. He gave up
three of  four Mariners hits.
The Tigers scored three runs in the 3rd.
A throwing error by Colt Emerson gave
one run thst wasn't earned.

The Tigers scored one run in the 5th.
Emerson Hancock went six innings.
He gave up three earned runs.

On his return Brendan Donovan didn't
get a hit and neither Taylor Ward.
We hope to   see a better game on
Wednesday.

Bryan Woo will start on Wednesday
night for the Mariners. The Tigers
are expected to go with the bullpen.

The Mariners used all three low
leverage pitchers in this one.
Besides Dominguez the other
high leverage pitchers didn't
pitch so should be available.
Go M's.

Seattle Mariners Make Moves Tuesday

The Mariners made several moves before
Tuesday night's game against the Detroit
Tigers.

Reliever Seranthony Dominguez and outfielder
Taylor Ward both acquired before the trade
deadline. We could see both of them in this
game.

Dominguez will team with Bazardo as two
of the high leverage right-handers along
with Munoz. Dominguez may close when
Munoz has a game off. Ward will play left
field, right field or dh.

As expected Brendan Donovan was activated
from the injured list. He will likely play third
base until JP Crawford returns. After that
he may play second base, left, right and dh
as well. Cole Young who has played more
than any position player  may have  a day off
on occasion.  Both Ward and Donovan
are in Tuesday's lineup.

Outfielder Stuart Fairchild was designated
for assignment with activation of Ward.
A bit of a surprise outfielder Rob Refsynder
and catcher Mitch Garver were released.
Neither one met up with the expectation.
Catcher Jhonny Pereda was recalled
from Tacoma.  He played  along with
Garver when Cal Raleigh was on the
injured list.  In 19 games he hit .270.
Anything like that will help the Mariners.
Go team.

Second Week Seahawks Practice

Monday the Seahawks started their second
week of practice. First preseason game is
11 days away on Saturday August 15 at
home at Lumen Field against the Dallas
Cowboys.

The Seahawks stsrting lineup will be
much like the team that played in the
Super Bowl outside of a few spots .
The big change will be at running back.
George Holani and first round pick
Jadarian Price will have most of the
reps when the season begins. Emanuel
Wilson a free agent signing should be
the third running back.

Velus Jones Jr. could be the 4th running
back. On Monday he showed how well
he can run pass routes as well. A player
in his position the versatility to play wide
receiver helps and he is good on special
teams. Let you know how some of the
other players doing. Expect some new
players in backup roles. Go Hawks!

Mariners Make A Trade Monday

Monday the Mariners made one trade
for a right handed bat where they have
had trouble against lefties all year.

The Mariners had the day off though.
The Mariners traded for outfielder
Taylor Ward from the Baltimore Orioles.
Taylor will be a free agent so who
knows whether the Mariners will retain
or not.

Mariners fans and players are familiar
with him since he played several years
with the Los Angeles Angels. President
Jerry Dipoto and general manager Justin
Hollander  are real familiar since they
drafted him when they worked for the
Angels before coming to Seattle. Justin
said that he should be in the lineup most
everyday whether in left field, right or dh.

With the Orioles he was a lead off hitter
much of the season.  He is one of the
top players to walk on the season. Not
sure he will be with the Mariners though
he could against lefties.  Right now Cole
Young is the lead off hitter and has done
a fine job. Brendan Donovan is expected
to be activated from the injured list on
Tuesday. He began the season as the
lead off hitter so he could go back to
the spot.

Both Donovan and Young both hit lefthanded
so one could be against righties.  We could
see Young bat fifth of sixth in the order.
Donovan could be down there somewhere
against lefties.  Ward could be near the
bottom of the order against righties though.

Ward is batting .246 which about the same
as his career and league average.

The Mariners traded Alex Hoppe who is
a low lever reliever along with two minor
league pitchers. Lefty Josh Simpson was
activated after Luis Castillo was traded
to the White Sox late Saturday. He will
likely stay when newcomer Seranthony
Dominguez arrives which he is expected
on Tuesday.

Emerson Hancock scheduled to pitch
on Tuesday for the Mariners. I am sure
he is glad that he us sticking around.

With now five man rotation the Mariners
are going with Hollander says that he
isn't on the roster as of yet last year's
number one pick who is in Arkansas
is listed as the sixth starter so if someone
goes down he likely be called up. September
1st the roster will increase to 28 so he
likely be the guy.

Another good reason to have Taylor Ward
Hollander said that Luke Raley maybe
done for the season after being put on
the injured list last season. If he does
return it will be late September likely.
So we see all things go beginning Tuesday.
Go M's.

Mariners Win The Series Sunday

The Mariners won another walkoff win.
It shouldn't have happened this way
on Sunday.

George Kirby pitched seven innings
of shutout baseball.  Cole Young
started with a hit in the first inning.
He was four for five on the day.
He and Arozarena scored on
a double by Naylor.  Cole singled
in the 6th inning bringing in
Colt Emerson.

In the bottom of 7th Cal hit a three run
inning putting them ahead 6-0. Thought
it was safe but not any means.  Bazardo
gave up another hone run with a runner
on base. Jose Ferrer came in for him
however gave up a three run homer.
Some reason the Mariners like one run
games. Munoz gave up a run in the
9th to tie on a homer too. Not great
for high leverage relievers.

In the bottom of the 9th Josh Naylor
had a single. Cal struck out.  Victor
Robles singled with Naylor going to
third. Robles did advance to 2nd base.
Stuart Fairchild who was brought up
when Luke Raley went on the injured
list pinch run for for Naylor who took
a tumble. Colt Emerson who is hitting
well again hit a single to score Fairchild
for the win. Had the Mariners lost it
would have been very disappointing.

The trading deadline line is Monday
afternoon so let's see who the Mariners
acquire. George Kirby in his post game
said he likes it here and like to stay for
a long time. See it happens. Go M's.

Seattle Mariners Trade For Reliever

Later Saturday the Mariners made their
first trade before the trading deadline.
They traded starter Luis Castillo to the
Chicago White Sox in sort of a surprise.

The White Sox didn't seem like to be
a partner. It seems they were  in for
a starter to make the playoffs. Also
they are going to pay the rest of Luis
contract as well.  This saves the M's
$30 million.

The primary player among three acquired
by the Mariners  is reliever Seranthony
Dominguez. He has been used by the
White Sox as a closer. This gives the
Mariners a setup reliever for the 8th
inning and can close when Andre Munoz
isn't available. Dominguez is under
contract for another year as well and
option for 2028.

The second player is Nolan Jones a left
handed hitting outfielder.  Nolan didn't
hit well last year for Cleveland though
this year was plahing for the White Sox
triple A team hitting .257 batting average.
Jones has 14 home runs and 59 rbis.
He likely will go to triple A Tacoma.
The Mariners may be in line to trade
still for another righthanded bat.

The third player acquired by the Mariners in
this trade is catcher Boston Smith as a
prospect.  Smith was drafted last year in
the sixth round  by the Washington Nationals
then traded to the White Sox. Smith is
batting left handed and hitting .298 in
his first season on professional ball.
He has 22 home runs. He is considered
athletic so he can play third base and
the outfield. Certainly gives the Mariners
versatility where they play him.

So we will see where the Mariners will
go  about another trade fo acquire a
right handed bat. Emerson Hancock
and George Kirby are probably off
the table but never can say never.

Having a five man rotation and eight
man relievers with five high leverage
sounds good. Matt Brash maybe
back in three weeks so that will add
another high leverage reliever.

The Mariners may add another reliever
from Tacoma until Dominguez reports.

Sunday afternoon the Mariners and Twins
have the third and final game of the
series. George Kirby is scheduled to
start. We will see how that goes.
Important game for the Mariners to win.

The Mariners are 54-58. They are three
games behind the Houston Astros who
have won nine out of their last ten games
while the Mariners are 3-7. Go M's.

Mariners Win Walkoff

It wasn't the conventional way to win
a walkoff in the 9th inning but take
it.

Final Mariners 4  Twins 3

Randy Arozarena was the player of the
game for the Mariners.  In the first
inning Randy Arozarena scored the
second run after Cole Young had
the first.  The Mariners had the chance
score more. Had the bases loaded with
no outs and these two were able to score.
Another key hit they coukd have scored
three in the first inning.

Randy hit a home run in the second
inning to make it 3-0.  Logan Gilbert
gave up a home run in the 5th and
6th inning. In the 7th the Twins tied
the game where after a double the
runner was able to go to 3rd on a bunt.
On an infield hit the runner scored.

Logan Gilbert pitched seven innings
giving up the three runs on five hits.
Gabe Speier came in the 8th and
got two outs. Andre Munoz got the
final out of the 8th and got the win
in the 9th.

Randy Arozarena hit a double in the
left field corner.  He was able to get
to third on an out by Canzone. The
Twins intentionally walked Julio to
face Cal who ended up pulling the
ball to the first baseman who was
able  to step on the bag. Be looked
at Julio going to second however
decided to get Randy at home. Randy
did a great job heading for home
and was safe.  Scored the last three
runs of the Mariners. Tomorrow
we  will  see whether Mariners win
the series.  Go M's.

Before the game Luke Raley was placed
on the injured list. Outfielder Stuart
Fairchild was brought up from Tacoma.

Seahawks Lose Another Preseason Game
