Nick Emmanwori Placed On PUP List

The Seahawks players recently had
physicals head into training camp.
Three players were put on the pup
list where they can't take in practice.
They can join practice anytime during
training camp. If any player  is put
on the list when rosters are cut down
to 52 players to begin the season they
will miss the first four games automatically.

News came out that safety Nick Emmanwori
was placed on the pup list. It was a surprise
to many as he took place in all the off-season
workouts.  It is possible that he had to have
minor surgery. No report was mentioned why.

Thiugh listed as a safety last season Emmanwori
as a rookie played seven different positions.
This helped out the defense since they didn't
have to make adjustments during the downs
the opponents had the offense on the field.

Whatever time he misses in camp various
players will have to take his spot.  Not all
bad news as long as he is on the opening
roster at the begin of season.

Running back Ken McIntosh was another
one put on the pup list. He was out all
last season as he was on the injured reserve
list. Hopefully he to is be able to join in at
some point. With Zach Charbonnett won't
be able to participate at the beginning of
the beginning of the season for depth
it would be good to have Ken around.

We will bring anymore news during camp.
The Seahawks first preseason game
will be at home against the Dallas Cowboys.
Let you know how that game goes.
Most likely won't see any starters.  Game
two would likely see any starters play
if at all before the season starts. I know
they want keep players healthy but often
the offense starts slow at the beginning
of the season. Go Hawks!

The Reds Even the Series

The Cincinnati Reds beat the Mariners
Tuesday night 4-2.  The Mariners had
six hits while the Reds had five. The
Reds counted for more.

The Red had three home runs and a
sacrifice fly while the Mariners had two
home runs. Eugenio Suarez had the Reds
second home run.  Julio Rodriguez who
didn't start came in and pinch hit for
Luke Raley later in the game hsd a home
in run in the 8th inning. Weston Wilson
who started again for JP Crawford hit
a home run in the 7th for the first. Wasn't
sure if the Mariners were going to score
at all. I wonder why Julio didn't start
since he came in later.

Luis Castillo went seven innings giving
up the first three runs. Jose Ferrer pitched
the 8th. For some reason the Mariners used
Michael Rucker in the 9th inning being
down by one run. I am not sure why the
Mariners keep using low leverage pitchers
in close games. He gave up the third home
run and 4th run of the game. The Mariners
went down one, two, three with Canzone
striking out to rnd the game. I am not sure
the Mariners lack confidence hitting or
consentration.

The Mariners and Reds play a day game
for the final of the series. I may wait 90
minutes to watch. Go M's.

Mariners Make Three In Row

Monday night  the Seattle Mariners beat
the Cincinnati Reds 8-0 in another important
game and beginning of the series.

Mariners didn't score until the 5th inning
when Julio Rodriguez was able to make
it to first base on an infield hit and Victor
Robles scored. Robles had a perfect game
going four for four.

George Kirby pitched a good game giving
up only three hits leaving after the 6th
inning.  George Kirby could have stayed
in but with the all star break and he hadn't
pitched in a while leading by one was that
the right move.

Nick Navila who gave up that grand slam
on Friday pitched a perfect 7th inning. In
the bottom of the inning Colt Emerson
who turned 21 on Monday came in with
the bases loaded hit a sacrifice fly giving
the Mariners a second run.

Weston Wilson had come in for Julio
in the top of the 7th inning and Robles
moved to center field.  Luke Raley pinch
hit for Buddy Kennedy who played in
llace of JP Crawford who had been
scratched.  Luke Raley scored on
Wilson's double. Canzone was walked
intentionally to face Cal Raleigh even
though the Reds had lefty Caleb Ferguson
who played for Mariners last year after
being acquired at the trading deadline .
Cal though on the very first pitch hit
a grand slam home run to make it
7-0. Serves the Reds right.

In the 8th  Cal was up again and end
in a force iut however Colt Emerson
scored. Wilcoc pitched the  8th
followed by Rucker in the 9th. None
of the three low leverage pifchers
gave up a hit.  Rucker in fact struck
out all three batters he faced. Now we
see what relievers go tomorrow.

The Texas Rangers lost so the Mariners
are back in first place by a half a game.
Luis Castillo will start Tuesday.. The
Astros beat the Marlins so they are
three and a half behind the Mariners.
The A's and Angels won too . Go M's.

Seattle Mariners Took Series With Win Sunday

The San Francisco Giants scored two runs
in the first inning off Logan Gilbert. Home run
and  a single.

The thought was not again.  With offense
still hard to get back.  In the 4th inning
Josh Naylor and Weston Wilson who
started in right field with Robbie Ray
on the mound hit singles to tie the game.

In the top of the 5th the Giants scored
another run. Logan was doing well despite
giving up three runs.  In the bottom of the
5th the Mariners tied it again. Cal Raleigh
grounded out with Cole Young scoring.

It was the Mariners the rest of the way.
Luke Raley ended up pinch hitting for
Weston Wilson as Ray was taken out of
the  game hit a solo home run in the 6th.
In the 7th Cole Young who was moved
to the third spot in the order even though
the Mariners were starting a lefty hit
a two run homer with Julio Rodriguez on
base.  No more scoring after
that by either team. .

Cole Young with his second in as many
games was the Mariners player of the
series.  Without his play the Mariners
might have been swept and changes
happening going into series against
the Reds on Monday.

Bazardo pitched the 7th giving up one
hit and struck out three which was
fabulous. Speier pitched the 8th
and Munoz the 9th. Neither gave up a
hit.

All three pitched Saturday and Sunday
so likely won't be available on Monday.
Jose Ferrer will be the only high leverage
reliever available. George Kirby will start
for the Mariners. We hope that he will
be able to go seven to help out the
bullpen.  Though a slow start to the
game this is the kind of game the
Mariners need to win.

The Rangers lost to the Braves 8-5
so the Mariners are a half game back
now. The Rangers are home against
the White Sox for three games. The
White Sox lead the central division.
Although they haven't played well
on the road this season they did
win the first and third against the
Blue  Jays in Toronto so that would
be nice again.

The Astros were swept by the Baltimore
Orioles over the weekend at home so they
are four back. They take on the Miami
Marlins for three next up at home but
as we know the Marlins are good. The
A's who have really struggled lately are
8 games back and the Angels 11.5 back.
They have a tough schedule in  August
against teams trying to make the
playoffs. The could lose a player or
more during the trade deadline.

So hopefully the Mariners can play
more like Sunday they have a good
shot for playoffs.  Next weekend
against the Rangers so we will see.
Go M's..

Mariners Have Julio Back and Win

For six innings on Saturday the offense didn't
give much help. They were scoreless.

The third inning looked like it would be
disastrous. Cole Young wasn't able to
handle a ground ball. Luke Raley miss
handled a ball in center field. The Giants
scored one run. Bryan Woo was able to
get out without any more damage than
one run.

In the six inning Woo gave up two solo
home runs. The first had be a decision
seen again as it wasn't ruled as one
but the instant replayed shown as a
home run.

In the 7th inning Cole Young hit a
three run homer to tie the game and
end the drought. All four of the M's
high leverage relieverd pitched giving
up only one hit in four innings.

The game went extra innings. Julio
hit a sacrifice fly scoring Victor Robles
for s walk off win in thr 10th inning.

We still have concerns about the offense
and sloppy defense. We hope that
Sunday afternoon they have a better
game and win.

Logan Gilbert starts for the Mariners
while former Mariner Robby Ray goes
for the Giants. Go M's.

Come Out Of Break Mariners Lose

The Seattle Mariners came home to
start a series against a national league
foe that has struggled on the season.

The Giants looked like the team the
Mariners should be. Instead the M's
looked like the team that was on the
last road trip. We just hope the M's
can turn it around starting Saturday.

A key elimate Julio Rodriguez is still
on the concussion injured list at least
until Saturday we hope anyway.

Bryce Miller went five and two-thirds
innings giving up a two run homer in
the 5th. In the 6th inning Bryce  allowed
two runners  on base. Ferrer comes in
and walks a batter. A bad ball with a
runner on first went past Cole Young and handcuffed him.  An error was charged
as the third run scored. Fortunately
Ferrer was able to get the third out.
Quietly the Mariners went quickly in
the bottom of the 6th.  In the 7th
Davila struggled and gave up a
grandslam home run. The reason
be pitched was the Mariners were
down 3-0. The offense had only
two hits.   Naylor and Raley had the
two hits. In another at bat Raley just
missed a home run and Cal had a
high fly but went foul. The Mariners
walked three times.

Bryan Woo starts Saturday and let's
see if the Mariners can turn it around.

Bryce Miller Starts Friday Night

After the all-star break the Mariners start
their rotation new. Bryce Miller will start
over Logan Gilbert who opened the season.

Miller has a 4-3 record in ten starts with
2.18 era. He is looking like the pitcher
he was in 2024. At this point we have no
idea how many starts the Mariners rotation
will have in remaining 65 games. Currently
they are going with a six man rotation.
This means Bryce should have two starts
possibly three before the trading deadline.

The Mariners should go back to five man
rotation but likely won't until August or
they do some piggy back.  Even mlb.com
feels that Luis Castillo will be the Mariners
top choice to be traded. A bat and a prospect
may go with him for the expense of his
contract to get a right handed bat or a reliever.

The six man rotation makes it tough for the
bullpen right now. The starter has to go at
least six innings. With four high leverage
releivers makes it tough with six starters.
The reliever in will be either lefty Jose Ferrer
or right hander  Eduardo Bazardo coming in
first. They have three low leverage relievers
which makes it tough when the offense is
not scoring a lot of runs and it is a close game.

The word out that Matt Brash won't return
until sometime in August so the reason to
pick up another high leverage reliever. It
isn't fair to the low leverage pitchers who
two have little major league experience.
Mike Rucker is a veteran however was at
Tacoma ehen called up.  So the three have
been ok under the circumstances but going
into each game just crossing their fingers
when coming into the game.

Gabe Speier the other lefty will come in
when facing a left hand hitting lineup
as well. Most likely in the 8th inning
depending where the opposition is in
the order. Andre Munoz is the closer
and generally pitches only in the 9th
inning. He could come in the 8th inning
with two outs to face a right handed bat.
Munoz is good for two games in a row
then needs a game off at least. I found
he has difficulty when he doesn't pitch
for five days. That is when he surrenders
runs usually. He is better to pitch the
4th day whether in a closing situation
or not.  I would say the same goes with
Speier.

The Mariners play starting Friday for three
against the Giants and three against the
Reds at home. They have next Thursday off
before playing the Rangers in Texas.

Julio Rodriguez is expected to come off
the injured list Friday. Not sure of any other
moves. Rob Refsynder is not expected until
July 29 depending whether they acquire
a right handed bat before then. Go M's.

Mariners Have 65 Games Left

They say the all-star break is the half way
mark however 65 games mean there is
40 percent remaining on the season so
close but not half.

The Seattle Mariners have a 48-49 record.
Most of the season have led the American
League West however right now a game
and a half behind the Texas Rangers.

The Mariners start on Friday with three
games against the  San Francisco Giants
and then three more  against the Cincinnati
Reds all at home.  On  July 24 they start
a series on the road at Texas against the
Rangers.  The Mariners last road trip was
1-5 and they must do better next time
and have a good home stand too.

The trading deadline ends in Early August
this time.  The Mariners best effort in
my opinion anyway is pick up at least
a reliever. As far as the bullpen goes been
difficult when Matt Brash went on injured
list on June 10th the day after Cooper
Criswell. Both were critical to lose but
Matt Brash was one of four high leverage
relievers.  Also the fact the Mariners are
going with six starters has made it difficult
to say the least.

The Mariners really need to go back to
five starters or see us count on the piggy
back with  one starting and going five
innings while the other goes four. The
most recent was to be Logan Gilbert
and Emerson Hancock however the last
two times out they decided to scrap it
and have each pitch as a starter.  It
turned out both of Logan's starts were
losses.  The last start heading into the
break Hancock was hit  and had to be
taken out in the second inning. Fortunately
the bullpen did a good job.

During this time the offense has struggled
to especially against left handed pitching.
Rob Refsynder hasn't been the right handed
the Mariners thought they were getting.

He eventually went on the injured list and we
will see if he is activated on Friday. The M's
brass still believe they need to get a  bat.
Whether the Mariners get a bat or not the
offense has to do a much better job  to expect
to win.

Brendan Donovan has just gone a rehab
assignment however how much time that
will be we will see.  Also how healthy Julio
Rodriguez will be.  The Mariners will need
to see a better Cal Raleigh too. Randy
Arozarena and Cole Young have been the
best part of the offense. The rest of them
must do better. We could say the same
the coaching and defense as well can improve.
The starters do what they have and what
other decisions are made the Mariners still
go to the playoffs however it is still up to
them. Go M's.

The Seahawks Defensive Line and Leonard Williams

Recently Leonard Williams was named the
best defensive player in the NFL by ESPN.
He is listed as an end but plays inside
sometimes  too. This all comes to  how
the Seahawks have the defense set.

The outside linebackers also known as
edger rushers will set themselves up
on the line so Williams  will go inside then.

Bryon Murphy ll who didn't have a great rookie
season in 2024 had an excellent season
last year and the Seahawks hope he adds
to it again this year at nose tackle

Jarran Reed who has been around a few
years will be back at defensive tackle.
All three starters love to be moved
around .

The Seahawks will depend on the backups
when any of them need a rest and  add depth
when injuries may occur.

Rylie Mills drafted last year out of
Notre Dame in the fifth round missed
much of last season however made
critical plays in the Super Bowl. He
is listed as Reed's backup however
word during the off-season is he
may play some outside too.

Mike Morris a fifth rounder in 2023
is listed as Leonard's back up could
see action at any of the spots. Leonard
will be in much of the time so reason
to move Morris around too

The Seahawks may go with nine
defensive line players so we what
more happens.  Go Hawks!

Randy Arozarena Gets Hit

The major league all-star game was a bit
boring sfter the first inning when the
American League had two runs. The
pitching certainly was good.

Randy Arozarena was able to get a single
in his second at bat to the left of shortstop.

Now that the game is over. Final
AL 4 NL 0

I hope that Jerry Dipoto and Justin Hollander
have had some good trade discussions and
get something done soon. We see how the
Mariners come out of the break. At least
they begin with the Giants and Reds. They
have a series on the road sgainst the Rangers
and Dodgers beginning on July 24.

The Rangers come out of the break facing
the Atlanta Braves then the Chicago White
Sox so should give the Mariners the advantage.
Hopefully the Mariners players and coaches
get their heads back on.

On Friday the Seahawks start training camp.
The Huskies and Cougars begin around
August first.  Look forward to all three teams.

Seahawks New Ownership

On Saturday it was announced who the
new ownership for the Seattle Seahawks.
Many fans already were skeptical. I guess
it has too do with the  Seahawks being
rescued by Paul Allen.

I believe this is the reason the Seahawks
won't be moving. Paul's sister Jody would
never sell the team to someone would
move the team.  There is talk about
having another stadium built in place
of Lumen Field. If so that would be in
the Seattle area too. Lumen Field the
lease goes through 2030 and can be
renewed for ten years. That goes until
2050.

T-Mobile Park has had renovations for some
time and Lumen can too. During the World
Cup praise came out how the field looked
and everything else about the facility. Of
course what may change will have to come
down to the  new owners. Under Paul Allen
and then his sister this has been one of the
best organization in the NFL.  What may
change is the city of Seattle as it has
politically over the years.

So enjoy the Seahawks and go from there.
Go Hawks!

Seattle Mariners Draft

Saturday and Sunday I shared the first
16 picks the Mariners took in the mlb
draft.

The 17th  round pick was a pitcher
from North Carolina followed by two
outfielders and final pick was another
third baseman.  In the draft  the Mariners
picked four third baseman with three
in the first six rounds. Ace Reese the
number one pick was listed as a third
baseman although the thought is the
Mariners will move him to first base.
The Mariners didn't draft anyone listed
as a first baseman. The Mariners don't
have anyone listed strictly as a third
baseman in the top 30 prospects.
It will be interesting to see where these
picks in the top 30.

The 18th and 20th pick will likely not sign
with the Mariners. The 18th pick was the
only high school player the Mariners pick.
He is expected to go to LSU. The 20th
pick is expected to return to Texas Tech.
The Mariners will keep an eye on both.
The 18th pick won't be eligible for the
draft until after his sophomore season.
The Mariners said that high school seniors
were not as strong a group as in past
years.

The Mariners will likely send all their picks
they sign to Arizona for orientation and
working out. Since the minor league seasons
end at the end of August except triple A
those sent to teams will have about 30
games to play.

Will update how these guys do. We won't
know where most will do among the top
30 prospects until going into the  2027
season.  Go M's

Mariners End Losing Streak and More On the Draft

Sunday afternoon the Seattle Mariners beat
the Tampa Bay Rays 8-2 on the road and
end the five game losing streak.

The negative was that Emerson Hancock
was hit and left with two outs in the second
inning. The x-rays were negative. The Mariners
next game will begin next Friday and Hancock
will not pitch most likely until the end of the
homestand against the Cincinnati Reds on
Wednesday July 22.

The Mariners scored three runs in the
second inning with highlight JP Crawford
two run double. Weston Wilson playing
right field hit a solo home run in the 4th
inning. In the same inning Randy Arozarena
hit a three run homer making it 7-0.
A good way for him to go into the all-star
game on Tuesday.

Bottom of the 8th the Rays had a two run
homer for their only runs. Top of the  9th
JP Crawford had another double to drive
in the final run.

In the futures game both Kade Anderson
and Ryan Sloan each pitched an inning.
Neither gave up a hit. Only minor leaguers
for the Mariners in the game.

In the major league draft Sunday is round
5 thru 20. Currently have picked thru round
16 so four more to go.

Will go through details  in Monday. Six are
position players while six are pitcher too.
Go M's.

Mariners Lose Again

Being a fan  of the Mariners continue to be
frustrating.  Losing 6-1 didn't help at all.

Logan Gilbert pitched well until the 7th
inning.  The Mariners were down 2-1
until that point. Logan  Gilbert gave up
two hits  before being taken out.  Dan
Wilson came out after the first hit but
decided to stay with Logan. He brought
in Gabe Speier after the secon hit and
he gave up a three run homer that basically
ended it.  In the 8th firmer Mariner Ben
Williamson scored the final run.

The first day of the major league draft
happened. There were four rounds and
the Mariners signed all four a bit under
the slot amount. This means they could
give money additional to rounds 5 thru 20
though most likely not.

The Mariners first round pick was Ace
Reese third baseman from Mississippi
State. He has power and hit.  The Mariners
may play him at first base. Most likely
wont play anywhere this summer and
spend time in Arizona instead.

The Mariners second round pick was Jake
Brown from LSU an outfielder. I am sure
he is familiar with last year's first round
pick Kade Anderson who went to LSU too.
Hecis expected to start his professional
career in centerfield so has speed too.

Mariners number three pick is Nathan
Taylor pitcher out of University of
Cincinnati. He is the schools all-time
in wins. His main pitch is the slider.
Word out like to have him throw more
fastballs.

The Mariners 4th pick is Trevor Lucas
third baseman from UNC Wilmington
The thought is that he will likely play
all around the infield as he isn't big
enough to hit for high numbers as
a third baseman.  Tomorrow will
let you know how it goes in day two
and final of the draft.

In other local sports news the Seattle
Seahawks have been sold to   Vinod
Khosia and family for a record $9.6
Billion from the estate of Paul Allen.
All the money go to donations. There
will be a lot of benefactors for sure.
Vinod is considered outstanding
person like Paul Allen. His son will
play a big part of ownership group
too.  Go Hawks!

Update On Isaiah Watts

Former WSU Cougar basketball player is
on the move after one season at Maryland.
It is good to see where players are at that
have played locally in college basketball.

There was thought that Issih might go
back to Seattle where his father Donald
played at University of Washington.
Iguess he or the Huskies figured it
wasn't a good mix at this time anyway.

He is going to University of Texas San
Antonio instead. This will be interesting
as this team has had a big turnover with
ten new players.  At Maryland he averaged
just over 17 minutes a game so I am sure
he is hopong to average at least five more
minutes a game.

Although back home in Seattle would have
been nice going elsewhere to basically a
new program is good too. We wish him
the best in Texas.

Mariners Now O-4 on Current Road Trip

The Mariners had another tough game. The
offense only had five hits on the evening.
The Rays had a run in the third on a single
and a home run in the 4th. Cole Young
had a home run in the 5th giving the Mariners
some hope. Unfortunately Luis Castillo gave
up two more home runs on the bottom of the
fifth. That was the end of his night.

In the sixth inning JP and Arozarena had
back to back hits giving the Mariners some
hope. Canzone drove in a run with a force out.

Bazardo pitched the 6th inning without a
problem then Jose Ferrer gave up three runs
in the 7th which he does once in a while.

The Rays hit balls over the fence or elsewhere
while the Mariners hit some hard balls but
went directly to fielders. A tough night for sure.

Final Rays 7 Mariners 2

The Mariners and Rays play 1:10 pm pacific time
on Saturday with Logan Gilbert starting.
Go M's.

Mariners Swept By the Marlins

This was the terrible series. The Mariners should have won the series opener if it wasn't for a
running mistake.

Now on Thursday the Mariners scored a run
in the second inning when Naylor got a hit
then stole second and third.  Bryce Miller
gave up a couple runs including a home run.
In the 4th inning the Marlins scored four runs.
Colt Emerson had a rough time in the field
for the first time I recall.   Bryce went five
innings with four of six earned. There was a
play that was challenged by the Marlins and
overturned. After that was when Bryce lost
it.

In the top of the 5th Randy Arozarena hit
a solo home run.  Michael Rucker came
in the 6th inning and gave up two runs
in the 7th. He has a 6.23 era in ten games.
He gave up the runs in four of those games.
Might give some hope.  Dominic Canzone
had a home run in the game. Arozarena was
on base as he walked twice in the game
besides his home run.

Final Marlins 8 Mariners 4

Now the Mariners will go to Tampa Bay
to play three games before the all-star break.
Julio Rodriguez is still experiencing headaches
from his concussion so he won't be in
Tampa Bay. We hope he is ready when the
Mariners are home when starting action
in a week from Friday against the Giants.
We hope the hitters will get their heads
straight when the break is over.  The same
goes for the management team. Go M's

This Saturday will be the beginning of the
majir league draft. We see who the Mariners
pick. I would say best player available. The
minor league system is good.

Training Camp Begins Soon In Seattle

The Seattle Seahawks reigning Super Bowl
Champions begin trainh camp on July 17th.

It isn't easy to win two Super Bowls in
a row but if anyone can  is the Seahawks.
They have a young team so gives them
a good chance to repeat.

They did have a few agents who are not
coming back. Ken Walker III is probably
the one less for them to miss though
he was Super Bowl MVP. Having Zach
Charbonnett out to begin the season
could be the difference at running back.
Jadarian Price Seahawks number one
pick this year will take Walker's spot
while George Holani will share until
Zach is back. Price a back up at Notre
Dame will be fresh and be ok sharing.

Defense they lost two defensive backs.
They lost safety Colby Bryant and
cornerbacks Riq Woolen. They drafted
two cornerbacks this year so we will
see how that works out.  Also Witherspoon
and Emmanawori with their versatility
should cover to. The third free agent lost
was linebacker Boye Mafe. He could be
the one missed the most. How the Seahawks
play defense Witherspoon and Emmanawori
will see some time at linebacker especially
against the run. This  is where the rookies
may come in.

Sam Darnold going into his second season
in Seattle could have a better year. Wide
receivers and tight ends would be familiar
to him.

Winning another Super Bowl Bowl may come
down how the backup players will respond.
This is what we should see during training
camp. Go Hawks!

Mariners Lose In Extra Innings

Brya n Woo had another tough outing
on the road Tuesday. This time  he gave
up four runs  wuth two in the 2nd followed
by one in the third and 4th. He lasted
tgrough the 5th.  The Mariners kept coming
after him having nine hits in all.

The Mariners Mariners actually the Mariners
eventually took the lead with two in the 5th
including a Cole Young home run and three
in the 8th. Gabe Speier  struggled in the
bottom of the 8th including giving up a
pinch hit home run to tie the game.

In the 10th Weston Wilson pinch run for
Canzone as the ghost runner. He made a
big mistake when Cal hit a ground ball
in front of him and he was out going to
third. In the bottom of the 10th Miami
had a walk of hit. Final 6-5.

George Kirby goes Wednesday for the
Mariners and Bryce Miller on Thursday.
We hope the team can turn it around.
They had other opportunities including
having the bases loaded with no outs
and couldn't score. A habit they seem
to do. Go M's.

Bryan Woo Starts Tuesday

The Mariners take on the Miami Marlins
Tuesday evening in Miami.

The Mariners are changing the starting
rotation by having Bryan Woo go.
The Mariners will be facing a very good
pitcher for the Marlins. This might be the
reason or they want to change it up going
into the all-star break.  George Kirby will
start on Wednesday and Bryce Miller on
Thursday.

The Mariners will start the post all star break
at home against the San Francisco Giants
They will play three times followed by three
against the Cincinnati Reds. The Mariners will have Julio back after the all-star break. They could
plsy him against Tampa Bay depending how
he feels. Brendan Donovan is expected to go
on a rehab assignment so he might be available
against the Giants. This will be the strength of
lineup for the best of the season.

Donovan will likely play some second base, third,
left field, right field and dh. That comes down to
who the starter they are facing and who is hitting
well for the Mariners. This will be interesting in
the same manner as the starting rotation. The
trading deadline will make things interesting too.
Jerry Dipoto believes the Mariners could trade
with another team who makes the playoffs too.
The Mariners need a right handed bat and a
reliever. If they only get one which one will it
be.

The Marlins will start two starters in the first
two games so they will go primarily with a
left handed hitting lineup. The only difference
is Victor Robles in center field.  Who starts
on Thursday is not known yet. We will see
whether Mitch Garver will catch in this series
or against the Rays. Go M's.

Belgium Wins Easy In Seattle

The USMNT didn't really show up
in Seattle Monday evening.

Final Belgium 4 USA 1

Belgium scored their first goal at
the 10 minute mark of the first half.
20 minutes later USMNT scored
their only goal of the evening.
It was all Belgium after that.

The USMNT made it  look easy
for Belgium. Were they the superior team
Yes indeed. They made the goals
the USMNT gave them.

Belgium moves on to Los Angeles on
Friday to play Spain in the quarterfinals.

What a great experience in Seattle. The
local fans showed why Seattle is a great
sports town even after the game they
were still excited.  Now we wait until
2030 to see what USMNT will look like.
😊😊😊

Mariners Making Monor League Moves

Reports the Mariners are moving #3
prospect Lazaro Montes from double A Arkansas to triple A Tacoma. Montes
had a slow start on the season however
he hit .299 in June along with 12 of his
25 home runs on the season. Montes
is a left handed hitting outfielder playing mostly in right field.  With the Mariners
when the day comes he will likely spend
tine at dh and possibly left field. His
defense has been suspect by some scouts
while others think he will be ok. The short
right field fence in T-Mobile Park should be
to his liking.

Michael Arroyo the number 4 prospect
is going with him to Tacoma as well.
He to got off to a slow start however
is hitting .283 on the season. Arroyo
is primarily an infielder though has
played some left field too.

With Cole Young and Colt Emerson
being the long term starters at second
and shortstop Arroyo looks to be in a
spot to be a utility player. He hits from
the right side so he could give both a
day off on occasion against a tough
lefty. This is when Brendan Donovan
isn't in the  lineup although he bats
left handed.

Randy Arozarena will be a free agent
at the end of the season. We have to
see whether the Mariners sign him
up before the season ends. Both
Montes and Arroyo could be used
in a trade to pick up a veteran and
hopefully under 30 years of age
player who bats right handed. The
question of Matt Brash in the bullpen
might be to trade for a high leverage
reliever too.

#5 Jonny Farmelo outfielder and #6
Felinin Celestin shortstop are both
having outstanding seasons at high
A Everett so they both make sense
to move up to double A Arkansas to
take Montes and Arroyo's spot. Both
players have had trouble with injuries
in their short careers and this is the
first time both have been healthy this
long.

Farmelo was an additional pick in
2023 in the furst round at number
29. He is 21 years old and bats
left handed. He has been playing
center field though with the Mariners
would be a corner outfielder unless
needing to give Julio a break.

Farmelo is hitting .273 at Everett
however is striking out 25 percent
of the time. He does walk frequently
so has an on base percentage of .390.
Farmelo has 12 home runs with 24
stolen bases.

Celestin right now is playing shortstop
at Everett. He had a great May going on
a 25 game hitting streak. He has cooled
down in June but still good. His batting
average overall is .311.  He to is walking
plenty and not striking out as much as
Farmelo. His on base percentage is .401.
Celestin hits from both sides and has
shown power both ways too. He has 12
home runs and 50 rbis. Also has 17
stolen bases.

Celestin signed as an international player
in January 2023. The Mariners was so
highly thought of  he has the highest
signing bonus the Mariners have ever
given to an international player.  His
defense at shortstop is good too. Most
likely either he or Emerson will end up
playing at third base. Since Emerson
currently playing shortstop for the
Mariners they will probably try Celestin
there. See if he gets any playing time
at third in the minors.

There is talk that the Mariners two top
pitching prospects Kade Anderson and
Ryan Sloan may come up in September
when the rosters expand.  They won't
pitch in triple A Tacoma unless it is
only once or twice.

The Mariners with six starters now both
might be in the bullpen though don't have
any experience doing so. There is a good
chance of the starters will be traded before
the deadline.

The Mariners have done a bit with the
piggyback going with Bryce Miller and
Luis Castillo so far. The other four starters
haven't been involved yet though twice
mentioned Logan Gilbert and Emerson Hancock however it was scratched both
times. Instead of piggy back I would
like to see an opener that was used a few
seasons ago. In this case the Mariners
could start either Anderson or Sloan
then bring in one of the starters. Again
that will depend who gets traded if
anyone.

Anderson is not only the top pitching
prospect he throws left handed which
non of the current starters are. Sloan
on the other hand could end up in the
bullpen. The future of the Mariners
starters will be interesting.  Go M's.

Mariners Take Series

The Seattle Mariners shut out the
Toronto Blue Jays for the second
day in a row. This time 4-0.

Had the Mariners offense any offense
in game one they would have swept
the homestand. Toronto continues
to struggle at the plate.  Originally
the Mariners planned to piggyback
but decided not to again. Emerson
Hancock went seven innings giving
up only two hits and a walk.

Going on the road to Miami first
with three games after having
Monday off. They will follow with
three at Tampa Bay. Most likely
the Mariners won't piggyback on
the road. What could change it
be if the bullpen had to be used
a lot. George Kirby will likely start
on Tuesday.

The Mariners scored their first run
Sunday when hit a sacrifice fly scoring
Victor Robles led off the third inning
inning.  In the 4th inning catcher Mitch
Garver hit a two run homer. He has
struggled hitting in T-Mobile Park
all season. This key homer was his
first of the season at home.

The final run was in the 8th inning.
Randy Arozarena had an infield single
with one out.  Cal Raleigh had a single
to right field with Randy going to third.
He scored when Josh Naylor singled
when the ball hit third base.  We hope
this game with Cal swings will get
him going.

The Texas Rangers lost again to the
Detroit Tigers.  The Mariners have a
game and a half lead going into this
week.  Go M's.

Randy Arozarena Named to All-star Game

Saturday the major league rosters
were named for the all-star game.
Randy Arozarena  is the lone player
for the Mariners selected at this time.

Randy leads the Mariners with an
average of .283. After Saturday game
he and Cole Young are tied with 41
runs drive in. Young has a batting
average of .260.  If the Mariners end
up adding another position player
to tge all-star team it would likely be
Young.  Julio is on the concussion
injured list and likely wouldn't want
to play the all-star game again.

The Mariners have the 5th best pitching
era  in the majors at 3.65. No starting
pitcher was named to the team as of yet.
The question though who would be the
best to pick. Logan Gilbert and George
Kirby have both pitched well. Bryan Woo
at home but not on the road.

For much of the first half was Emerson Hancock. Since coming off the injured list
no question Bryce Miller has been the
best pitcher and be the one picked
if doing so. Luis Castillo has been up
and down. Since the beginning of the
piggy back he has pitched well. If you
take the fans reaction Luis would be
the one sent to the bullpen or traded.
The trouble trading Luis is he has a
no trade clause so be would have to
have an ok to go and would that team
have something to give back to the
Mariners. Most fans to think that
Luis is the reason for the piggy back
and not to offend to be sent to the
bullpen.  We will see what happens
especially after the all-star break.

This week the Mariners will be going
to Tampa Bay and Miami before the
break.  Go M's.

Mariners Come Alive

The Seattle Mariners looked different Saturday winning  11-0. Thought there
would be the piggy back but Logan
Gilbert went seven and  a third innings.
He gave up the one hit.. Wilcox came
in for final one and two - thirds innings
without a hit.

It is possible that Emerson Hancock will start
Sunday.  The Mariners scored first by Robles
driving in Cole Young in rhe second inning
then  Arozarena who ad a tough game Friday
hit a grandslam. The hot Dominic Canzone
hit a two run homer in the 5th. In the 6th
Canzone drove in a run with a single.
Cal hit a three run homer to take it all.

Be nice do more often. See take game three.
Go M's.

Mariners Lose Game One Against Blue Jays.

The Blue Jays win 2-0  with both runs
in the third inning. The Mariners actually
got two runners on base in the bottom
of the third  but couldn't get a key
hit in to get at least one run.

The Blue Jays had six hits whike the
Mariners had only four.  Luis Castillo
went six innings. The three relievers
for them gave up only one hit and
no runs.  The Mariners lack of hitting
is a team effort. It is tough when you
can't get a hitter to produce when the
opportunities arise.

The Mariners and Blue Jays have strong
pitching but both are near the bottom
of the majors in scoring runs.

On July 4th  they will play an afternoon
game. This series should be close
no matter who wins the series.
Go M's.

Heading Into the Toronto Series For Mariners

Both Julio Rodriguez and Victor Robles
had to leave the game on Thursday.
Now Julio is going on the concussion
protocol for seven days.

Victor Robles is starting. Initially showed
he play in center then the latest being
in right. Raley would move to center. Makes
sense with Robles moving to right. We
will know when the game starts.

Not sure how the Mariners lineup
will look when they have to face a
lefty.  This is certainly one of the
best lineups this season except
missing Julio.

Luis Castillo starts tonight against the
Blue Jays. We hope he pitches like his
last outing. Important that the Mariners
win the opening game of the series.

We hope the Mariners will win this
series before going on the road.
Go M's.

Bryce Miller and Mariners Shut Out the Angels

The Seattle Mariners didn't hit well
Thursday night gainst the Angels
however scored one run in the 6th
sixth inning.  JP Crawford led off
the sixth with a double. Weston
Wilson who came in for an injured
Victor Robles struck out. Canzone
walked followed by Arozarena to
load the bases. Josh Naylor struck
out. Cal Raleigh who has walked a
lot lately ealked once again to bring
in the only run of the game by Crawford

Bryce Miller pitched a perfect game
until the 7th when he gave up a couple
hits however got out of it.  Eduardo
Bazardo pitched the 8th without giving
up a hit. Munoz pitched the 9th and
gave up two hits so both runners were
in place to score. With two outs Colt
Emerson was able to throw out the
runner at first. The Angels challenge
it but the replay showed the runner
was out by a foot and a half.

The Mariners ended up sweeping
the Angels so now beginning Friday
night they play the Toronto Blue Jays
with Luis Castillo on the mound.
It looks like this Saturday Logan Gilbert
and Emerson Hancock will piggy back
and on Sunday George Kirby should
pitch.

The Mariners and the Texas Rangers
currently  are tied for first place in the
American League West.  Go M's.

United States Wins Wednesday

The United States beat Bosnia in
the round of 32 2-0 to advance
to play Belgium on Monday July
6 in Seattle.

Thiugh they shutout Bosnia it
wasn't as easy as the score
indicates. In the second half
the United States received
a red card which did give
Bosnia a fighting chance.

The United States has lost to
Belgium before so won't be
easy.

Belgium got off to a rough start
in their win over Senegal 3-2.

Senegal dominated most of the
match then Belgium scored
two goals late in regulation to
take it into overtime.

The overtime was 30 minutes
and neither team looked like
they would score and it would
go into a shout out.

Senegal was charged on a penalty
card and Belgium made the goal
late in overtime. Senegal did have
a chance to tie a few times however
were unable to tie.

The one thing I don't like is the time
clock keeps running no matter what
happens. We all knew there wasn't
a lot of time but how much time we
don't know. My opinion not a good
way to see an ending to a match.
They need to change it.

Belgium will make some changes
do they get off to a better start
against the United States. So let's
enjoy the 4th of July and then see
ehat happens right here in Seattle.

Nick Emmanwori Placed On PUP List
