Another Disappointing Loss

The Mariners lost again to the Royals
by one run 3-2. This reminds me
some of Randy Johnson losses
as a Mariner on a night they retired
his number 51.

Emerson Hancock pitched a great
game giving up one run in seven
innings. The story is greater he
struck out 14 batters and didn't
walk a batter.

The Mariners were leading 2-1
when Emerson left the game.
The Royals scored a run to
tie on an error by Julio that
doesn't happen often in the
9th. The Royals scored on
a sacrifice fly in the 10th
The Mariners couldn't match
it.

Now the Mariners are expected
to start Luis Castillo. We hope
he turns things around enough
for the win.

No reason why however Cal Raleigh
was scratched from the game.
We should know more on Sunday.
Go M's.

Mariners Lose Friday Night

The Seattle Mariners lost to the
Royals in the opening game of
this three game series.

Final Royals 7 Mariners 6

Bryan Woo struggled in the first
inning giving up four runs and
then two runs in the sixth.
Julio Rodriguez had two two run
homers in the game. The last
one tied the game.

Besides Woo the Mariners faced
another lefty.  Still only one win.
Refsynder wasn't in the lineup.
He is day to day.

Matt Brash went on the injured
list. The Mariners brought up
lefty Josh Simpson from Tacoma.

Emerson Hancock will go Saturday.
Go M's.

Mariners #1 Pick Kade Anderson of 2025

So far the former LSU standout Kade Anderson the Mariners #1 pick in the
2025 is having a great start to his
rookie professional career this season.

The lefty is having a very good time
at double A Arkansas Travelers in
2026. He has started four games and
has pitched 18 innings. The Mariners
are easing him in after quite a busy
season last year.

There are those who are wondering
when he will move up to triple A
Tacoma or the big club. Kade is a lefty
so he is quite valuable if you know
what I mean.

In those four starts he has an era of
.48 which means he has only given
up one run and on top of that he has
30 strikeouts.  He has walked four
and give up nine hits.

His next start is on May 1 as he
has started his games on Fridays.
I expect that he will stay in
Arkansas for a bit longer unless
there is an injury to another
starting pitcher either in Tacoma
or Seattle.

Ryan Sloan the second top pitching
prospect is having a rough start in
his first season in double A. Ryan
is 20 years old and started his career
in the minors right out of high school.
Expecting some trouble is understandable.
The most important thing with Ryan is
staying healthy. Kade most likely be on the Mariners next season while Ryan be the
following year or later next year.

The question is who the Mariners will
do with the rotation in the off-season.
I expect someone will be traded.
Go M's.

Seahawks Rookie Camp

Friday on May Day the Seattle Seahawks
begin rookie camp for two days. They
have invited undrafted college free
agents besides the players they drafted.

After the mini camp we will see who they
will invite back as far as that group goes.
Four of the seven are on the defensive
side. Two are edge rushers. They want to improve at that position. They are Aidan
Hubbard from Northwestern and Marvin
Jones Jr. of Oklahoma.

The other two on defense are tackle
Uso Seumalo of Kansas State and
linebacker Devean Deal from TCU.
The Seahawks could be looking at
adding depth at tackle and linebacker
to add to improve the position.

On offense they signed tight end
Lance Mason from Wisconsin.
Teams going often with three tight
ends he could be an added free agent.
The other two offensive players are
wide receivers Michael Briscoe from
Cal Poly and Levi Wentz from Kansas
State. For these two it will be important
to be good on special teams. The best
chance to make the opening day roster.

These are the headliners besides the
players they drafted. In all 68 players
will be in mini camp. We wish them all
the best. Go Hawks.
