The Nationals Onto the NL Championship

The Washington Nationals beat the Los Angeles Dodgers Wednesday night 7-3 to move on to take on the St. Louis Cardinals who beat Atlanta earlier in the day 13-1. Both series went five games.  The Nationals won the game in the 10th inning when former Los Angeles Angel Howie Kendrick hit a grand-slam home run. It is something he will remember for the rest of his life.

I am bringing this up because the Nationals along with the Seattle Mariners are the only two teams in the history of the major leagues who haven't played in the World Series. So who are you going to root for then the Cardinals or the Nationals?

I will be rooting for the Cardinals not just because we don't want the Nationals to make the World Series but I have always been a fan of the Cardinals. As a kid, I rooted for the Cardinals when they made the World Series.

Today the Houston Astros will be at home playing the 5th game against the Tampa Bay Rays. Will history repeat itself with a road team making the Championship Series.  If the Rays win this would mean three of the four teams advancing won on the road. The Rays win means we will see Mike Zunino playing in the AL Championship.

So will the Mariners be the last team to stand who hasn't been to the World Series we will know next week.
