Monday something did happen in local sports in a way that is.
King Felix Hernandez number one starter for quite a few years for the Seattle Mariners
before injuries and the loss of his fastball was signed by the Atlanta Braves to a minor league deal.
Felix has been invited to the Braves major league spring training to see if he can make the team as the fifth starter.
It is hard to know what his chances are to make the Braves team. A lot depends on whether he is healthy along with willing to do whatever it takes to pitch in the major leagues.
Although his fastball isn't what it used to be his other pitches still make the major league standards so the question is can Felix look at using those other pitches and use the fastball only when necessary. His problem was he wanted to use the fastball no matter what.
We hope he learned something and not let his pride get the best of him. We wish Felix the best in Atlanta.
This coming season Atlanta will be coming to Seattle in May. It would be nice if he makes the Braves roster and pitches against the Mariners. It would be nice to see a lot of people at the game.
