I didn’t even realize that there
was a NBA draft yesterday until I saw it on line. This morning I viewed some of
the players who were drafted.
Since I am no longer a NBA fan
since the Supersonics left Seattle for greener pastures in Oklahoma City; sort
of funny to say since it is greener here then Oklahoma but I don’t really care.
Most of the players who were drafted I never really watched much on television before. The ones I did watch was during March
Madness; and I generally pay more addition to the teams anyway.
I am sure if you are a NBA fan
you probably don’t care what I say. Even if I was more of a fan this time of
the year is watching major league baseball especially the Mariners and what the
Seahawks are doing during the off season.
Another reason I did not know the
draft was happening is that the local sport radio stations where not talking
about it either. Everyone is more concerned about the season the Mariners are
having, and whether the Seahawks are able to sign quarterback Russell Wilson to
a long term contract. Those are the two big stories around here.
If you are a NBA fan it is likely
because your kids are interested in the NBA. Depending on their age they may
not even remember the Sonics. It is too bad because the Sonics were the first major
sport to come to the northwest. I still remember the first season they played
in Seattle and then when they won their only NBA Championship. Those really
were the days. Being led by coach Lenny Wilkins along with Dennis Johnson,
Freddie Brown, Gus Williams, Jack Sikma and the rest of the good guys. Of
course several years later was the team led by Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp. I am
sure that I will get back into the NBA when Seattle gets another team. Right
now mum is the word.
