When
it comes to the weekend series for the Seattle Mariners in Houston there is not
a lot you can say.
The
first game on Friday night the Mariners were blown out by the Astros 10-1 if I
remember that far back. On Saturday night the Mariners gave their fans some
hope blowing out the Astros 8-1. We were all hoping for normal game on Sunday
where the Mariners would win maybe 4-3 but no they were blown out again this
time 13-0.
I
find there is really not much to say about the series except bad pitching.
Friday night was especially a surprise because King Felix was starting for the
Mariners. We had hope the Mariners would win the first game and maybe go toward
a sweep. Something happened where we all dumb founded Felix only got one in the
first inning before exiting giving up eight runs. It was a question to answer
is there something wrong with Felix? Is he hurt or what? Right now we don’t
know though they say he isn’t hurt. It was the third outing in a row that Felix
had trouble in the first inning the first two he was able to get out of them.
He faces the San Francisco on Wednesday in Seattle. The Mariners have two games
in San Francisco before returning to Seattle to face the Giants in two games
before playing the Astros in a three game weekend series. Hopefully, we will
have something to say next Monday.
I
guess I wrote enough without any answers. We can only hope the Mariners will
rebound this week. The good part of the road trip so far is they are 3-3. Can
the Mariners start hitting like on Saturday along with good starting pitching
before the weekend?
In
other sport news if you are into the whole NBA playoff thing the Golden State
Warriors are now up three games to two over the Cleveland Cavaliers. To be
honest I haven’t watched the series at all. I know that with injuries Lebron
James is carrying the Cavaliers. It will be a big story if he can lead the
Cavaliers to victory in the final two games. Until Seattle gets another NBA
team I likely will not watch any games or a very few selected games. The NBA
should never had left Seattle. The game isn’t what it used to be anyway so I
don’t think I am missing much. Good for the kids because they don’t know what
the NBA used to be like.
Today
begins the U.S. Open in nearby University Place at Chambers Bay golf course.
Actual play doesn’t start until Thursday but practice rounds do. Tickets are no
longer available for the actual Open but you can still get them for the
practice rounds. I won’t be there though I know several people who are working
as volunteers. I look forward to hearing their stories about the U.S. Open.
Anyway
have yourself a great week, and we can see if any interesting stories happen
this week in the world of Sports.
