The state of Washington had three players taken in this
years draft of major league baseball.
The Seattle Mariners often take at least one local
player, however, this year's draft went only five
rounds they didn't this time around.
Jesse Franklin an outfielder who played college
ball at Michigan went to high school at Seattle Prep.
His career at Michigan he hit .287 with 23 home runs
and 102 rbi's. He was drafted in the third round
by the Atlanta Braves.
Left-handed pitcher Jeremy Wu-Yelland out of
West Valley High School in Spokane pitched
at Hawaii primarily in relief was drafted in the
fourth round by the Boston Red Sox
Stevie Emanuels a right-handed pitcher Washington
Huskies played his high school ball at Interlake
in Bellevue. His first two years at Washington
he was a reliever, however, in a short season
this year he was a starter. He was drafted in
the fifth round by the Oakland A's.
We wish the best to all three in making their
ways to the major league baseball. Hopefully
we will get a chance to see them at T-Mobile
Park facing the Seattle Mariners.
