Seattle Mariners and more

As the clock turns into 2021 on Friday I
am hoping Jerry Dipoto will sign or make
a trade going into the new year.

When it comes to a trade they likely will
have give away some prospects. They don't
really have any major league players to trade.

There are a few starting pitchers or relievers
they could trade away. Also, they could trade
catcher Tom Murphy but since he missed all
this past season the likelihood isn't there.

Marco Gonzales if the Mariners traded him
would have to go in a multi-player trade. He
is close to be off limits though. They could
trade Justus Sheffield since he should have
some value though he is considered part of
the rebuilding process. Yusei Kikuchi the
Mariners could trade for a change of scenery
but probably won't get much value. Again
in a multi-player deal.

In college basketball the Washington Huskies
have gotten off to a terrible 1-6 record. I was
hoping to see more of them but they just are
not worth watching right now. They take on
Arizona on Thursday followed by Arizona
State on Saturday at home.

Blake Snell To Padres

The Tampa Bay Rays traded former Cy Young
and starting pitcher Blake Snell to the San Diego
Padres over the weekend for prospects.

Snell a native of Seattle I am sure many Mariner
fans would have liked to see him in a Mariner
uniform.

I am sure the Padres offered more than the Mariners
could have in this trade without hurting their farm
system. The Mariners farm system has grown into
one of the best in the major leagues over the last
couple years after being the worst under former
general manager Jack Z.

The Mariners are still in the rebuilding process.
Having acquired Snell for a similar package the
Padres likely would have hurt their chances of
making the playoffs on a consistent basis.

The Padres were able to send a couple catching
prospects in the trade. The Mariners only have
Cal Raleigh as a top 10 prospect at catcher. I
am sure the Mariners didn't want to give up
him.

Since the Padres are looking toward not only
being in the playoffs in 2020 but to win the
World Series as well. They figured Snell may
put them over the top. The Rays on the other
hand were looking for prospects though the
Mariners may have had to give the Rays a
prospect either Jarred Kelenic or Julio Rodriguez
both at the top of the list; not willing to let go
after either.

I am sure Blake Snell will be a Mariners one day
however we will have to wait until he is eligible
to be a free agent. The Mariners do have several
young pitchers they could have thrown the Rays
way.

It is hard to tell since the Mariners may have given
the Rays a good package but they decided to go
with the Padres. The Rays don't have to worry
about playing the Padres for the most part unless
they meet in the World Series.

Seahawks Win NFC West

The Seattle Seahawks last week made the
playoffs. This week beating the LA Rams
20-9 they won the NFC West.

The game Sunday wasn't decided until last
three minutes of the game when tight end
Jacob Hollister caught a touchdown pass in
the end zone from Russell Wilson.

Again it wasn't the greatest offense by the
Seahawks though they got it done when
they needed.

I am not sure the defense was the greatest
either though they did allow the Rams to
score only three field goals. Other words,
they bend but did not break through the
game.

In those three occasions it did look like
the Rams could take the ball into the
end zone but the defense stopped the
Rams cold.

We can hope the Seahawks can do the
same in the playoffs while improving
the offense. I like the decision making
this week where they ran the ball when
it was very tempting just to pass the ball
with only a four point lead.

Had Hollister not caught the pass the
Seahawks would have had to settle for
a field goal meaning the Rams could tie
with a touchdown. Fortunately we didn't
have to worry about that. In fact, the
Seahawks were able to keep the Rams
at bay after the touchdown.

Next week the Seahawks will play the 49ers
in San Francisco. The meaning of the game
has to do with whether the Seahawks will
have playoff advantage or not. At least we
know they have the chance to go toward
getting to the Super Bowl again. Go Hawks!

Seahawks Take On Rams

The Seattle Seahawks have two remaining games
before the playoffs begin. They take on LA Rams
on Sunday then San Francisco 49ers to finish off
the season.

During the week Pete Carroll didn't care how the
fans felt about the game against Washington. That
is fine he has that right to feel that way.

He mentioned how the running game they averaged
seven yards a carry. My question then why did he
abandoned it in the 4th quarter.

Washington scored a touchdown early on in the 4th
quarter making it 20-9. Regardless how they ran the
ball the Seahawks would have taken more time off
the clock. Instead Russell Wilson threw the ball three
times in a row with the third one being intercepted.
Washington was able to score to make it 20-15.

Washington was able to stop Seahawks passing and
running game in the next series. The Seahawks defense
was able to preserve the win but we couldn't count
it actually happening. This could have down to being
a loss when it could have been prevented.

As I said the Seahawks didn't score in the drive where
the ball been run instead at least once if not twice even
the clock would have had more time taken off since
Washington would have had to drive the field further.

Well that game is over so now look at the LA Rams.
I am sure Pete Carroll will have a different game plan
for the Rams. I hope when the 4th quarter is under way
and the Seahawks have a ten point or two touchdown
lead Pete Carroll will have a different idea. If not the
Rams could win this game where Washington wasn't
able to.

I really like Pete Carroll but he hangs onto close games
even when it shouldn't happen. Russell Wilson or the
defense or whoever won't always bail them out. They
need to win this game and or the game against the 49ers.

The Seahawks need to be able to play at home though
this year is different without fans. Going on the road
won't guarantee a win. We all know if the Seahawks
don't make the Super Bowl this will be a disappointing
season. Though Pete Carroll will be back can't say the
same for some of the coaches well as the players.

For the Seahawks to win on Sunday they will have to
be sure to be more successful on third downs than they
have been in recent games. The offense line will have
to keep the Rams  to stay away from Wilson and the
defense will have to step up once again. Go Hawks!

Merry Christmas and Look Toward 2021

First of all wish you all a Merry Christmas.
2020 certainly has been a weird and awkward
year to say the least.

Certainly hope the vaccine comes so or the
covid-19 reduces itself or the government
and politics get off  letting us to get as close
to normal lives as we can.

We hope for a good season ahead for the
Seattle Mariners, how the Seahawks finish
this season. We hope Gonzaga wins the
national championship in March madness.
Washington and Washington State sports
get back into order. The Seattle Sounds have
another good season ahead. We can't forget
the Kraken who will have their first season
coming up in the fall. See who their coach
and players will be.

Until this time next year may you be blessed.

Mariners Pick Up Another Before Christmas

We only have three days until Christmas.
Do you think Jerry Dipoto will land another
gift before Christmas.

So far three pitchers. It would be nice to
land another relief pitcher. An outfielder
or a second baseman be nice too.

We know Dylan Moore will play a lot
whether at second base or left field.
Ty France is expected to play a lot
as well. He will be the primary dh
but we will see him at second some
well as third base and first base on
occasion.

Go M's.

Seahawks Make Playoffs

It wasn't a pretty site like most of the recent
wins by the Seahawks but we have to live with
it.

The Seahawks had a very comfortable lead in
20-3,  Washington the team without a name
scored a touchdown no extra point to make
it 20-9.

It is the 4th quarter. Russell Wilson threw
two balls to DK Metcalf which he caught.
I am not sure why they are not running the
ball. Ok they want another score, however,
the important thing is running the clock.
Third time Russell threw an interception.
Washington ended up able to score making
it 20-15.

The next series unable to run the ball or
throw it for that matter so had to punt.
A questionable personal foul by KJ Wright
allowed Washington to keep the ball.

Oh it didn't look good, however, the defense
was able to make a couple good sacks and
the Seahawks were able to stop them on fourth
down. The defense did it again but they shouldn't
have had to.

I hope Pete Carroll and the offensive coach staff
have learned now what you must do in the 4th.
They preach about running the ball but didn't so
this time. There was eleven minutes when they
had the ball with score 20-9 however why play
like you are in the third quarter. Even if they didn't
run the ball right and had to punt at least they were
able to get a couple minutes off the clock and
Washington would have had to go down the field
further taking more time off the clock .

OH WELL! Oh yes the Jets won their first game
of the year beating the LA Rams. Seahawks back
in first place until at least next week when the Rams
come to Seattle. The Seahawks won't win if they
play the same offense in the fourth quarter. Even if
they do they won't have success in the playoffs pulling
this kind of action unless they are plain lucky. Go Hawks.

Chris Flexen Officially Signed

We have known for a little while the
Mariners were signing Chris Flexen
a former pitcher with the New York
Mets and played this year in Korea.

It became official Flexen is a Mariner
on Friday. Flexen will compete for a
spot in the starting rotation, however,
he could be a member of the bullpen.

The Mariners had a full 40-man roster
so they ended up designating utility
player Tim Lopes for assignment. A
big surprise by many including myself.

With Flexen signed the Mariners now
24 pitchers on the 40-man roster.
Depending how many roster spots for
next season will decide how many
pitchers they will have on the opening
day roster.

This season they had a 28-man roster
next season they could go down to 26.
Most likely they will carry 13 or possible
14 pitchers. Dipoto announced already
they will go with a six-man rotation
again. This means seven or eight relievers.

The Mariners go with 14 pitchers then
this means ten of these pitchers on the
40-man roster won't be on the opening
day roster.

What my point is the Mariners should have
designated a pitcher for assignment. I suppose
they think Lopes will pass through waivers.
I guess we will see.

The Mariners have a full 40-man roster so
adding another player they will have to
release another player as well. Dipoto
makes a trade than they may need to
make room as well depending on how
the trade comes down.

Anyway I hope Lopes makes it back on
the Mariner team. If not best wishes to
him wherever he lands.

Mariners Make A Trade

General manager Jerry Dipoto made his
first trade of the season. We are
hoping he will do several more
over the next several weeks.

The Mariners acquired Rafael Montero
right handed reliever from the Texas
Rangers. He may fit well pitching either
the seventh or eighth inning. Also, can
close when necessary as well. The
Mariners sent two prospects to the
Rangers.

Now we see who Dipoto will follow up
when it comes to trades or signing a free
agent. With the depth now in the farm
system the Mariners have room to trade
prospects. Don't expect any of the top
ten prospects go unless it is a high deal
trade.

Wednesday news came out they signed
reliever Keynan Middleton as a free agent.
A native of Portland Oregon, Middleton
said was a no brainer to sign with the
Mariners. Like Montero, he will be looking
to be pitching as a setup man. Signing
Middleton the Mariners designated outfielder
Phillip Ervin for assignment

Dipoto should look to going after a major
league outfielder along with second base.
At this point Dylan Moore looks to be the
player to start at second base. The Mariners
pick up a second baseman then Moore could
play a lot of left field well as a super utility
player.

The Mariners have Jake Fraley and Brandon
Bishop who are both defensively sound but
haven't shown they can hit major league pitching
as yet. These two could platoon in left field
well as giving Mitch Haniger and Kyle Lewis
a day off in the field on occasion.

The Mariners could go after another reliever
as a closer. The Mariners likely will have seven
relievers or eight as maximum depending on
the roster size. This year they had a 28-man
roster, however, they may go with a 26-man
roster so we will see what happens there too.

Seahawks Win Easily Sunday

It is hard to know whether the Seattle Seahawks
played a really good game or the New York Jets
are that bad. I would take the Jets being that bad.
The Seahawks rolled over the Jets 40-3.

One thing I am really glad is the Seahawks led
at half-time 23-3. The Jets scored first with a
field goal then shut out the rest of the way. You
wonder what was in the Seahawk fans minds
being down 3-0.

We should be thankful the Seahawks made the
game pretty easy to win. Often they allow the
opposing team to get back into the game in the
second half then having to make Russell Wilson
do some magic to win. In this game Wilson was
able to leave before the 4th quarter started. Yes
he was able to take the fourth quarter off for the
first time since 2016.

Russell Wilson completed 21 of 27 passes for 206
yards, four touchdowns and one interception. Geno
Smith completed four of his 5 passes thrown for
33 yards. There really wasn't much reason for Smith
to pass the ball just get the 4th quarter as quickly as
they can which is what they did.

The Seahawks had 36 rushing attempts in the game
for 174 yards. A good ratio between running and
passing something the Seahawks have had success
over the years. Really nice Wilson only ran the ball
once. We can hope the Seahawks can do the same
in the remaining games of the season and the playoffs.
They do so means a Super Bowl victory very likely.

DK Metcalf led the Seahawks with six catches and
a touchdown. Tyler Lockett who had trouble last week
had five catches himself. Rookie tight end Colby Parkinson
finally got into action late in the game have two catches.
We hope to see a lot more of him.

Next Sunday the Seahawks have an early game against
Washington. The team formerly known as the Redskins
have won for straight games beating San Francisco 49ers
Sunday 23-15. Washington is on top of the NFC East
with a record of 6-7. It will be important the Seahawks
play well against them to win.

After Washington the Seahawks will come home to take
on the LA Rams then  finish the regular season on the
road against the 49ers.  Currently the Seahawks and Rams
are tied for the lead in the NFC west with a record of 9-4.
It will be important for the Seahawks to win all those games
if expected to have a good run in the playoffs. Go Hawks!

Washington Huskies Men's basketball and more

Though the Washington Huskies were not able
to play football against the Oregon Ducks on
Saturday the men's basketball teams were able to
do so.

The Huskies lost to the Ducks 74-71. Washington
has had trouble over the last several years trying
to beat the Ducks. At least this time they had the
chance to.

Junior guard had his top scoring game of his career
with 26 points. He took the Huskie last shot to tie
the game but misfired. RaeQuan Battle had a career
high in scoring as well coming off the bench scoring
19 points. These two will make up a lot of the Huskies
scoring however other players need to contribute if
they  expect to win on a consistent basis.

Washington State Cougars men's basketball team take
on Portland State at hone Sunday afternoon. The football
game against California was cancelled because of covid-19.

The Huskies are scheduled to play USC this friday
against the USC Trojans in the Pac-12 championship.
This of course will depend whether there are any concerns
with covid-19.

Gonzaga's last basketball games was on December 2. Their
next game is scheduled next Saturday against Iowa.

The Seattle Seahawks take on the New York Jets
Sunday afternoon at home. The Jets haven't won a
game as of yet. Not sure they will but if they do
beat the Seahawks things won't be good in Seahawk
land and likely changes will happen.

Washington Men's Win First Game

Washington Huskies won their first
basketball game Wednesday of the
season against city rival Seattle U.
73-41.

The scores were almost identical in
each half. Huskies scored 37 points
in the first half while Seattle had 22
points. In the second half the Huskies
had 36 while Seattle 19.

Quade Green once again led the Huskies
in scoring for the third time in a row with
18 points. This game though he didn't start
and came off the bench. He played only 18
minutes likely because the Huskies won
easily. Green shot well going 4-4 behind
the  3 point line.

Junior transfer Nate Pryor started in Green's
place. Pryor was second in scoring with 13
points. He shot 4 for 10 from the field however
went perfect at the foul line make four shots.
Pryor led the team with four assists.

Nate Roberts the primary inside player for the
Huskies had ten points. He led in rebounds with
8. This year being his first season to start as a
redshirt sophomore he is doing good. Expect
him to get better as the season goes on.

The Washington Huskies are expected to play
the Oregon Ducks in basketball late afternoon.
It was announced and confirmed the football
teams won't play each other on Saturday.

The football game was expected to be the last
regular season game for both teams. At this
point it is hard to know whether either team
will play another game or not. The Huskies
didn't have the mandatory of 53 players to
field a team because of covid-19. We will
let you know if another game will be
scheduled coming up.  If not this could
end the season for both teams.

Mariners Sign Pitcher

On Wednesday word came out the
Mariners signed former New York
Pitcher Chris Flexen to a two-year
contract.

Flexen spent parts of three seasons
pitching for the Mets. This year he
pitched in the Korean League where
he had an outstand season.

The Korean League numbers on Flexen
is what Mariner general manager Jerry
Dipoto went by to sign him.

Flexen is expected to compete for a
spot in the Mariner starting rotation.
What this means for signing back
Taijuan Walker or not we will find
out. Walker had an outstanding
September after the Mariners traded
him to Toronto.

In six starts for the Blue Jays Walker
had a record of 2-1 with an outstanding
ERA of 1.37. He did have a high walk
total walking 11 batters in 26 innings,
however, struck out 25 batters.

Hard to know whether the Blue Jays
want to sign him or another team to
a free agent contract but likely his cost
has gone up. I am sure the Mariners are
still interested in bring Walker back but
at what cost is the question.

Flexen on the other hand likely will be
in the six-man rotation with Marco
Gonzales, Yusei Kikuchi and Justus
Sheffield. Also there is Justin Dunn
in the rotation. The Mariners could
always insert Flexen or Dunn in the
bullpen. A lot will depend who they
sign or trade for to add to the bullpen.

We will  further again what the bullpen
looks like right now. Go M's.

Seahawks Lose Sunday

I am sure most Seattle Seahawk fans
figured the team would win on Sunday
against the New York Giants. Have to
say we were disappointed.

The defense did a fine job for the most
part, however, it isn't hard when you are
facing a backup quarterback who has been
on the team for a short period of time

The Seahawks were leading 5-0 at half time.
The Seahawks kicked a field goal  in their first
possession of the game. The offense looked
like they were going to have a good game.
They went down the field with ease but
couldn't get it into the end zone.

In the second quarter the defense was able
to score a safety. The Giants scored a couple
touchdowns and a field goal. The final score
was Giants 17 Seahawks 12

Not much more to say.  It was one of those
games that put you to sleep.

Washington Sports Weekend

The Washington Huskies had another game
where they got off to a slow start. Actually
the defense allowed Stanford to score in
their four possessions of the first half.

Stanford scored two touchdowns in the
first quarter eating up much of the clock.
Huskies had a field goal early on in the
second quarter but the Cardinal came
right back to score a touchdown. Stanford
kicked a field goal goal before the half
ended making it 24-3.

The Huskies had the ball first starting out
the second half. Like in the game against
Utah last week they were able to score
on the first possession of the second half.

Unlike the Utah game Stanford came right
back to score a touchdown, however, Huskies
scored 16 unanswered points to make it an
interesting game, however, Stanford was able
to run out the clock. Stanford 31 Washington 26.

The Washington State Cougars play the USC
Trojans in Los Angeles on Sunday. This will
be the Cougars third game of the season.  Let
you know how they did next post.

The Seattle Seahawks will be home against the
New York Giants. The Seahawks are expected
to win but stranger things have happened.

Gonzaga was supposed to play a big time game
against number two ranked Baylor on Saturday.
The game was cancelled because one of the
Gonzaga players was tested positive for covid-19.
Both teams are hoping to make up the game at a
later date.

Mariners "More Free Agents Out There"

 What the Mariners Should Do?

I don't know. Just kidding by the way.

There are a lot of players who have
non-tendered contracts. The Mariners
signed all the Mariners not under contract
on the 40-man roster a few days ago.

I am sure there will be many fans who
will want the Mariners to sign ex-cub
Kyle Schwarber who can play left field
well as dh and catcher if needed. Depend
how much interest in him could be a good
deal.

Archie Bradley a right handed reliever could
be a good choice. He spent the last month with
Cincinnati though most of his time was in
Arizona. I would look at seeing about signing
him.

Matt Wisler another right handed reliever had
a good season with the Minnesota Twins. He
could be another one the Mariners could look
at picking up.

Want an outfielder coming off the bench then
there is ex-Mariner Ben Gamel. Not signed up
again by the Milwaukee Brewers. The Mariners
could sign him to a minor league deal with
an invite to major league camp.

There will be other free agents out there the
Mariners can try to sign. I am sure they will
try to sign a catcher to add depth. Hopefully
someone who can hit better than what they
have picked up over the last few years as far
as depth goes.

Chris Young who pitched for the Mariners
several years back  for one season was named
the general manager of the Texas Rangers.
He is a sharp cookie so I am sure he will bring
them back to being competitive. This is now
the second team the other the Angels who have
a new general manager this off-season.

Three Stories Here

News came out NFL Commissioner has reinstated Josh
Gordon. The wide receiver is expected to sign with the
Seahawks. He has to go through covid-19 protocols so
won't be available until the last two game of the season.
He maybe able to help the Seahawks offense. Likely be
the third or fourth receiver.

The Washington Huskies lost to the Utah Utes in Salt
Lake City 76-62. The Huskies were led once again by
guard Quade Green with 21 points tying his career high.
Nate Roberts had his best night as a Husky scoring 12
points while grabbing 13 rebounds. Washington was down
by five at half time 37-32. The Utes extended the lead
then the Huskies fought back to be within six points around
the half way mark of the second half however the Utes
stormed out getting a lead over twenty points putting the
game out of reach.

Washington continues to struggle hitting shots behind
the 3 point line making 6-30 for 20 percent. Rebound
was better than the previous two games. Utah grabbed
44 rebounds while Washington had 33.

The Huskies went with an eight man rotation for the
most sophomore center Riley Sorn a walk-on from
Richland, Washington had his most minutes so far
going 16. He scored eight points with six rebounds.
Not bad at all. I am not sure why Marcus Tsohonis
hasn't played a lot of minutes in the back court after
getting a lot of minutes as a freshman last year when
Quade Green was suspended for academics.  He is
Quade Green's backup but you would think he would
be on the court with Green at times as well. I am sure
things will change since this has been a very poor start
to the season for the Huskies.

Washington doesn't play again until next Wednesday
against city rival Seattle University. With some practice
to figure what is wrong they can change things around
or it will be a long season for sure.

The Seattle Mariners signed a free agent. Not a big deal
since it was a minor league deal signing first baseman
Sam Travis for depth purposes. Maybe this will get
Dipoto on a signing spree. A few trades would be nice
too. Go M's

WSU and Gonzaga Both Win

The Washington State Cougars are now 3-0
after beating Oregon State Beavers in their
opening game of the Pac-12 schedule. It was
a close game with the Cougars winning 59-55.

Oregon State led at half time 26-23 after scoring
the final eight points of the first half. The Beavers
extended the lead to ten points then the Cougars
went on a 24-7 run giving them a seven point lead.

Oregon State still had opportunity to win but both
teams combined to shoot 2 of 13 from the field in
the last five minutes of the game. The Cougars were
led by senior guard Isaac Bonton with 15 points.
Sophomore DJ Rodman had a career high 13 points
all in the second half.

WSU takes on the Colorado Buffaloes in Boulder
on Saturday. The Buffaloes are 2-0 winning easily
over South Dakota and Kansas State. Should be
a good game between those to Pac-12 teams.

The Gonzaga Bulldogs beat West Virginia Wednesday
87-82. The Bulldogs got most of their points from
four players who all scored in double figures. Also,
star freshman Jalen Suggs had to leave the game in
the first half with an ankle injury. Suggs did return
to play in the second half. He did play 26 minutes in
total scoring 4 points. Suggs had six rebounds and
five assists.

Gonzaga was led in scoring by guard Joel Ayayi with
21 points followed by Corey Kispert and Andrew
Nembhard each with 19. Drew Timme finished with
17 points. Neither team shot well behind the 3 point
line shooting under 30 percent.

West Virginia kept themselves in the game at the
foul line making 27 of 33 while Gonzaga made
15 of 21. Now the Bulldogs get ready to take on
the number two ranked Baylor on Saturday 10 am
Pacific time.

Washington MBB lose again

At the last moment another game was
added to the Washington Huskies men's
basketball schedule. The Huskies took
on UC Riverside out of the Big West
Conference.

The Huskies shot terrible once again
at the same time out rebounded. Second
hand shots UC Riverside Highlanders
had 14 while the Huskies had zero.

The Huskies to made only 3 shots behind
the arc. Two of those were by Quade Green
who was the player of the game with 18
points. Green made half of the Huskies
shots. Outside of his shooting they would
have been below 20%.

The final score was UC Riverside 57
Washington 42. The shooting for the
Huskies was so bad they missed their
last 12 shots of the game. Washington
now goes to Utah on Thursday. See if
they can get to playing good ball.

The football game between the Huskies
and the Stanford Cardinal is being moved
to Seattle. The county health where Stanford
is at isn't allowing contact sports so they have
come to Washington to practice as well then
move to Corvallis Oregon after the game to
practice all week before taking on the Oregon
State Beavers.

Washington State Cougars football team is
expected to play USC this Sunday in Los
Angeles. The Cougars haven't played football
the last two weeks including the Apple Cup
because of players tested positive for covid-19.
The Cougars are scheduled to take on the
California Bears on December 12 in Pullman.
There is still a chance the Apple Cup could be
made up, however, it may depend whether the
Huskies make the conference championship
game.

The Cougars men's basketball team has played
two non-league games going into Wednesday
where they take on Oregon State in Pullman.
They take on Colorado on Saturday. Both games
played were narrow victories. Last Wednesday
they beat Texas Southern 56-52 and then on
Saturday Eastern Washington 71-68.

Gonzaga Bulldogs the number one team in all
the land has played two games heading into this
week. They beat Kansas last Thursday on the road
102-90. They played Auburn the next day winning
90-67.

The Bulldogs take on West Virginia Wednesday
followed by playing number two ranked Baylor
on Saturday. Gonzaga and Washington who were
originally scheduled to play this month will not
play this year unless they meet in the NCAA
tournament.

Seahawks Beat Eagles

The Seattle Seahawks beat the Philadelphia
Eagles on Monday night 23-17.

The game was played well by both teams
defense as both offenses had trouble on
the night.

The Seahawks passing game especially
between Russell Wilson and receiver
DK Metcalf had a good night. Metcalf
caught 10 passes for 177 yards. Though
he didn't score a touchdown Metcalf
did set up for the Seahawks to score.

Russell Wilson ended up completing
22 of 31 passes for 230 yards and one
touchdown. The one touchdown to
David Moore allowed the Seahawks
to win.

The Seahawks defense allowed six
sacks on the night. It has been a long
time since the Seahawks were able to
sack the quarterback six times.

The Eagles passed for almost as many
yards as the Seahawks but had 15 more
throws but only completed three more.

Shaquill Griffin was back playing in
the defensive backfield for the first time
after missing four games. His presence
was felt for sure.

Chris Carson was back at running back
though he only carried the ball eight times
for 41 yards and did have a touchdown.
Carlos Hyde carried the ball more having
15 carries but only 22 yards. The Seahawks
running game seemed to be out of sync for
most of the night.

Both teams stats were about the same in
the game so showed how the defense played
well for both.

The Seahawks play the New York Giants
next Sunday afternoon at home. The Giants
are not a good offensive team so we should
see a good defense once again. We just hope
the Seahawks offense especially the running
game can get back into sync.

The Arizona Cardinals and the Los Angeles
Rams both lost on Sunday so the Seahawks
are back in first place all by themselves with
a 8-3 record. Go Hawks!
