Positive About MLB Lockout

There isn't a lot positive about the major league
baseball players being locked out, however, news
came out on Friday you can come and see the minor
league players workout at training camp.

Those who live in the area either this time of the
year or all year around it is a good thing.  The
positive thing is the Mariners coaching staff
along with management like general manager
Jerry Dipoto is there so they can view the
minor league players.

The players there are those not on the 40-man
roster. Though we hope to see Julio Rodriguez
this season thankfully he isn't on the 40-man
roster. It is tough for the players who likely
will not be on the major league team when the
season actually starts. Some of them will be
at triple-A Tacoma. I will give you a look at
those players I think likely will be there instead
of Seattle.

Matt Brash who the Mariners picked up in a
trade from the Padres at the trading deadline
in 2020 might be in the Mariners starting
pitching but could start the season at Tacoma.

Aaron Fletcher a lefty pitcher who spent most
of last season at Tacoma most likely start again
this year. Joey Gerber who missed all of last
season because of injury likely will start in
Tacoma as well. The Mariners bullpen is
pretty set so only have a spot or two to make
the opening day roster whenever that is.

Wyatt Mills who spent a little time with the
Mariners likely be in the Tacoma bullpen
too. He didn't look ready last year, hopefully,
more this time around. Juan Then who the
Mariners still consider a top prospect pitched
in Everett last year and most likely be at
double-A ball is on the 40-man roster as well.

Catching wise Jose Godoy who spent a little
time with the Mariners last year is the one
catcher who will likely start in Tacoma as
they have four on the 40-man roster. If
an injury happens to other three or one
gets traded he will be the one up with the
Mariners unless the Mariners acquire
another catcher.

In the infield Kevin Padlo, the Mariners
acquired from the Tampa Bay Rays
during last season then went to Tacoma
will be in Tacoma along with Donovan
Walton. These two the choices to be
recalled if injuries happen.  Evan White
who missed most of last season might
begin the season at Tacoma as well.
They figure Ty France will start at
first base. White makes the ball club
he might spend some time in the outfield
well as first base.

Julio Rodrigues is listed on 40-man
roster but he is in camp. Must be
a reason for that. They have two other
outfielders that will have a hard time
breaking camp with the Mariners as
well in Alberto Rodriguez and Taylor
Trammell. We see how things go with
them. Jake Fraley would be considered
the fourth outfielder unless Kyle Lewis
isn't ready at the beginning of the
season whenever that is.

Anyway that is the list and we will see
how things go. Minor league spring
training games are supposed to start
on March 16. We do hope the major
league players are in camp by then
or a couple more weeks of regular
season will be cancelled. Come on
owners and players get your act
together please. Not good for
us all.
