The Baseball Trading Deadline

There is 14 days remaining  in  baseball
for trading.  After the deadline teams can
still trade, however, the players have to  go
through waivers.  This means teams can
block other teams from trading.  The
issues comes down to  salaries of players.

Before the current  14 game winning streak
knew whether  the Mariners  were buyers
or sellers  or combination of both. Now have
to say buyers.

President  of baseball operations  Jerry Dipoto
says the Mariners  are going for starting pitching.
The question  is  how good of a pitcher and how
much willing to give up. Depending  on the pitcher
I  would say a prospect in the Mariners organization
that is between  11 and 20. Possibly  a couple of
them and can throw in a prospect  between 21 and 30.

I  wouldn't  trade any player in the top ten unless the
pitcher is an exceptional  one. Other words some one
that matches up with Robby Ray and Logan Gilbert.

Friday  night  game against the Houston Astros  at
T Mobile Park  is sold out. Saturday and Sunday  are
close  to.  Should be an exciting and noisy series.
Thursday  the Astros played the Yankees in  a
double header.  I  know most Mariners  fans wanted
a Yankees  sweep  unfortunately the Astros swept
instead. The Astros  had to fly to  Seattle after so
hopefully  the Astros  will be tired.

The Mariners  seem to have more success against
the Astros  in Seattle than in Houston.  The Mariners
go to Houston next week  for a four game series
so hope for better success  there than in the past.
I  would be fine with a split after taking two out of
three here. The best would be to gain at least two
games on the  Astros  going into August.

The key to these series  against the Astros will likely
come down to the bullpen. Continue success with
them will help. I expect low scoring  games with at
least one with the Mariners  scoring at least five runs.

Kyle Lewis  is expected  to  be activated Friday. Not
sure he will be  in the starting  lineup  or not. Having
his bat on the bench anyway will help. Mitch Haniger
is going on  rehab assignment  Friday to Everett Aqua
Sox. He could be on rehab assignment  for two or
three weeks  depending  on  how he does. He might
play for the Rainiers  as well.  Nice to have Lewis bat
back and Haniger  soon to.  Go M's.
