full group of players in workouts.
The Mariners don't have many spots
open going into camp.
The starting rotation is intact. Who
would be the sixth and even seventh
pitcher in case of injury. The bullpen
has five of their eight spots already
set. Again who would be those in
depth beyond the eight as well.
The position players for the most
part as well is set to. There is a
possibility of someone else besides
Dominic Canzone to be the 4th
outfielder and Dylan Moore the
utility player.
The only position the Mariners
could move on to improve would
be third base. Currently Josh Rojas
and Luis Urias are expecting to
platoon at third. Rojas facing righties
while Urias against lefties. Currently
Urias has a little shoulder problem
so may see a little more of Rojas
playing third in the start of camp.
It isn't like Urias won't play the
Mariners will keep an eye on him.
We may see a player vying for the
utility player being there. Also one
of the Mariners top prospects like
Cole Young who primarily looking
at short and second in the minor
leagues this season the Mariners
could give him a look at third.
The only free agent still on the
market playing third base is
Matt Chapman. The dollar amount
is keeping the Mariners away
really to be interested. Of course
things could change on both sides.
For the players Julio Rodriguez had
a press conference. He basically
said the players are hungry and want
to get past last season. He wants to
get past his sophomore slump as
well. On the management side general
manager Justin Hollander said he
didn't see any big signing coming ahead
before the season begins. The Mariners
always like to keep this to themselves
so they could surprise us if something
comes along. Most likely the Mariners
would acquire someone who would
improve the end of the roster. Likely
would be the bullpen, outfielder or
infielder. The Mariners could add
a second catcher if someone comes
available as well. Go M's.
