won Thursday night 84-82 in overtime.
It really not the kind of game you would
think the score shows.
The Huskies did everything right in
the first half as Arizona State did
everything wrong. The Huskies
built a 24 point lead that turned
into a tie at the end of regulation.
The Huskies even had a five point
lead under 30 seconds however gave
up a three pointer before a two point
shot by Arizona State.
At least they found a way to win in
the end although Mike Hopkins
coaching career seems to be ending
soon at Washington. They have a lot
of talent on this team but can't finish
off. Whether it is Hopkins coaching
or bad luck we will never know.
The Cougars upset Arizona on their
home court 74-71. Much of the game was pretty close and the Cougars defense.
The Huskies would be near the top of
the conference if they had defense
anywhere close to the Cougars.
Jaylen Wells who led the Cougars
with 27 points was the hero. Arizona
was head by three with less than 20 seconds when Wells tied the game
with a three pointer however was fouled
where he put the Cougars ahead by one.
A few seconds later Wells made two
free throws to make the three point
lead and final score.
Caleb Love looked like he could put
Arizona ahead with four seconds
left however he slipped and was
called for traveling. We could say
it helps having a little luck. The
Cougars are now in first place
ahead of Arizona heading to
face Arizona State on Saturday
while the Huskies go to Arizona.
Gonzaga beat Portland Pilots
Thursday 86-65. Graham Ike
led the Zags with 20 points and
14 rebounds. Nolan Hickman
had 19 points with Ben Gregg
and Anton Watson each with
13. The Zags play at home on
Saturday in a big game against
Santa Clara. After that they finish
the regular season next Thursday
on the road against San Francisco
Dons. The Dons are right behind
the Zags in third place. Saturday
March 2 they finish off at St. Mary's
who is undefeated and likely to win
the West Coast conference even if
the Zags win.
Next post will be on the Seahawks
who have some big news and anything
on the Mariners if it comes up too.
