losing streak after winning five games in
a row. The Oakland A's shut them out 6-0.
A young team like the Mariners especially
with injuries happening we are going to see
ups and downs throughout the season.
We hope by the time the season ends the ups
will be more consistent then the lows. News
came out to another injury to the starting
rotation Justin Dunn went on the injured list
on Wednesday with inflammation to his right
shoulder. The Mariners are hoping Dunn will
miss only one start which would have been on
Friday against the LA Angels
The Mariners recalled Robert Dugger who had
been sent down to Tacoma when Marco Gonzales
was activated and mad his start against the A's
on Tuesday. Dugger could get the start for the
Mariners on Friday or lefty Hector Santiago.
So it looks like the Mariners will be back to
using the bullpen more. It is tough when you
figure at least for another start or two Gonzales
will be limited on pitches. He went four innings
in his first outing hopefully can get to five in
his second outing.
Chris Flexen started gave up five runs in the
third inning. He was able to correct things to
be able to go six innings so the Mariners had
to use only two relievers. Flexen looks to be
like the Mariners in general having ups and
downs. This was his second bad outing in a
row. We hope he can correct things.
The Mariners had only four hits in the game.
Jack Mayfield who started at second base had
two of the four hits. The other two were by
Mitch Haniger and Tom Murphy who continues
to get better each day. The Mariners gave Jarred
Kelenic the day off. We hope this will help him
out to improve his hitting by sitting watch the
pitches.
The Mariners now go on the road. They begin in
Anaheim against the Angels. The Angels are two
games behind the Mariners. They have losing
record both at home and on the road so the Mariners
could do some damage.
The Angels are still without Mike Trout so a good
thing for the Mariners on that account however
the Angels seem to be playing fine without Trout.
Juan Lagares is like the opposite of Trout offensively
anyway. He has no home runs and has seven rbi's
on the season.
The series against the Angels should be interesting.
We hope the Mariners can do some good work
there. Go M's.
