Seahawks Go Undefeated Pre-Season

I am sure everyone realizes pre-season doesn’t mean a whole lot when it comes to a team other than getting ready for the regular season and who makes the club.

It is the first time I remember that all the cuts for the squad will take place on Saturday after pre-season is over. The Seahawks will be looking to cut thirty-seven players initially on Saturday. A few addition cuts may happen if they can find someone to pick up from another team.

Trevone Boykin coming into the pre-season as the number two quarterback looked good in the first half moving the ball however he gave up a couple interceptions that stopped the team from getting at least a field goal while third-string quarterback coming in Austin Davis threw a touchdown near the end of the game to win 17-13. The Seahawks had a lead for a while 10-3 when the Raiders scored to tie the game 10-10. The Raiders took the lead with a field goal just before the Seahawks scored the touchdown to win.

It is hard to know right now whether Boykin keeps the backup job or Davis will be the guy. Boykin seems to have more the talent to run the offense however Davis makes less mistakes.

Hard to know who makes the squad and who will be cut. I am sure there will be some that will be obvious while others it is tough competition between guys. Chris Carson the seventh-round draft pick out of Oklahoma State looks like a good choice to be one of the running backs over Alex Collins. The wide receiver position will be interesting as well and how many they keep will depend on the running back position as well. There is talk that Jermaine Kearse could be traded however he has more experience than some of the other guys who happen to be somewhat injured prone as well.

The offensive line will be interesting to see who will be the backups along with cornerback position. Who the Seahawks keep at linebacker and the defensive line will probably be decided by who can play special teams as well. Versatility will make a big difference when it comes to the last cuts on the team.

I saw more of the fourth game than the other three however I am still not sure who will stay and those who will go. I wish the best for those thirty-seven or so that are cut. I am sure there will be some that will be picked up by other teams. Go Hawks!
