Sorry the delay my brother came into
town on Friday morning. So I didn’t have time to write today’s blog about the
Mariners and other local sports.
It was great that the Mariners were
able to take three out of four on Thursday. It was nice to see that King Felix
was able to go three and two-third innings giving up three hits and only one
runs. He should be able to go again next Tuesday and go further with more
pitches. Ryan Garton finished off the fourth inning and then Andrew Albers who
has been pitching pretty well so far went the remaining of the game giving up
three runs in the seventh inning with the Mariners being ahead 9-1. I expect
that he may do the same thing when Felix pitches as well.
Nelson Cruz, Kyle Seager and Yonder
Alonzo were the primary hitters on Thursday night. Cruz and Seager each hit a
home run. Cruz had a total of four hits in the game.
James Paxton will be going Friday
night for his first start for over a month against the Houston Astros. It would
be nice if the Mariners can win the series in a sweep otherwise making the
playoffs will be harder even though the odds are against them anyway. Paxton is
expected to go a little further than Felix since he pitched since Felix had.
The Mariners will be facing righty
Charlie Morton for the Astros. So they are going with the same lineup they did
Thursday night against the Astros. We hope that they get the same results as
well. The odds are against it however if the Mariners can score like six runs
they still have a good shot at winning. Erasmo Ramirez and Andrew Moore finish
off the series against the Astros. If they can pitch like they have recently
the Mariners should have a chance however the offense needs to keep going.
When it comes to football the
University of Washington Huskies take on Fresno State in Husky stadium on
Saturday and the Seahawks will take on the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday in
Seattle. Thomas Rawls is expected back to be in at running back on Sunday. The
Seahawks I am sure will have a better running game against the 49ers. It is
needed for sure we will all agree. The Seahawks offensive line will need to
improve for them to play the way they need to have a successful season. The
defense will do their usual job on Sunday however the Seahawks still need to
score some points for them to win. Go Mariners, Huskies and Seahawks.
