Mariners Make Minor Announcement

With the World Series almost over no big announcements are made as of yet. The Series will be over Wednesday at the latest depending whether the Houston Astros win on Tuesday night or not.

The Mariners announced on Monday they outrighted to Tacoma first baseman Ryon Healy, pitchers Chasen Bradford, and Connor Sadzeck. All three players ended the season on the 60-day injured list.

Last season Healy started the season as the Mariners third baseman with Kyle Seager going on the injured list at the end of spring training. Healy went on the injured shortly before Seager returned in late May. There were questions about what was wrong with Healy. The major problem was his back. Right now it is hard to know whether Healy's career will go forward or not. If he is available at the beginning of spring training I expect the Mariners will invite him to spring training to see if he can make the team. Both Bradford and Sadzeck likely will be invited to spring training with the big club as well.

I heard the news that Double-A Arkansas pitching coach Pete Woodworth will be named the Mariner's new pitching coach. It makes sense since he does know many of the Mariner pitching prospects.  If it does happen the announcement will likely take place on Thursday or a few days after.

The Mariners can start making trades starting Thursday if the World Series goes the distance. It could take place Wednesday if the Astros win Tuesday night. It will be nice to write about Mariners again along with football. College basketball is right around the corner as well.
