Huskies, Zags and Cougs Open Up Monday Night

The Washington Huskies beat Colgate
Monday night  90 to 76. Colgate is
expected to finish third in the Patriot
League.  Not the level of Big Ten but
good basketball though. Congratulations
Huskies.

Nikola Dzepina international player led
the Huskies with 27 points and seven
rbis.  He made 10 out of 17 from the
field. When the Huskies went on a
12-0 he had  seven points.  We could
see the Huskies bringing in more
international players though they have
done that in the past.  Gonzaga has been
known for doing so why not join in.
Might be a good bifes for the Cougars too.

LeJuan Watts who started at one of the
guard spots was next with 22 points.
He primarily made his points from the
foul line going 14 of 16. Not bad at all.

Wesley Yates III who was the Huskies
only starter last year started this one
coming off the bench though he played
30 minutes. He scored ten points with
all coming from outside the three point
line.  The Huskies only used four bench
players in the game.  Next game for them
is next Monday against Mississippi State.

Gonzaga beat Purdue 78 to 72.  The game
was pretty close most of the way. Each half Gonzaga scored three points more then
Purdue. They only led in double digits
for a very  short time.

Braden Huff who was hurt in January
and missed the rest of the season
led the Zags playing  36 minutes
and scored 10 points. He shot 4 for 11
in the field. He led with seven rebounds.

David Fogle led the Zags with 22 points
however made six of eighteen from the
field although he made 9 of 10 at the
foul line.   Next game up for the Zags
is home against  New Mexico State on
Saturday. Go Zags

The Washington State Cougars weren't
as lucky as they lost to Davidson 76-61.
Davidson had a good lead at half time
34-22.  The game has been tied at 13-13
then Davidson went on a 9-0 run to open
it up.

Jaylen Harrell led the Cougars with 13
points off the bench.  Dominick Robinson
had 10 points off the bench too. Jamari
Phillips had 11 points the only one who
started and scored in. He didn't shoot
that well going 3 of 12 with two  being
from the three point line.

Davidson won the game because they
shot well making 54..7 percent from
the field to the Cougars  35.3 percent.
They made seven more three pointers
than the Cougars who took one more
shot. The difference in the game for
sure. The Cougars shot 20.8 percent
from  3 point land. The Cougars next
game is also on Saturday at  High Point
which is in North Carolina. Go Cougs!
