WSU-Stanford Cancelled

News came out on Friday starting quarterback
Jayden de Laura tested positive for covid-19.
Later on several other Cougar players had the
virus as well so the game was cancelled against
Stanford.

This means to likely the Apple Cup next
Friday between the Cougars and Huskies
will be cancelled.

So now it means the Cougars and the Huskies
will be playing no more than five games on the
season unless more players get positive results.

Though it has been nice to see some football
games in the Pac-12 you wonder now if they
should have waited until spring to play or
should they cancel the rest of the season until
spring depending on the status of the virus.

The Huskies are expected to play Arizona at
home Saturday afternoon.

We know athletes at this age should be able
to bounce back for the most part. You wonder
if they should go ahead and still play the  games
depending on how many players are available.
Hard question to answer all around.

I figure we shouldn't be surprised since football
is a contact sport. Now we will have to see
whether college basketball will have games
cancelled.

This week the Huskies men's basketball team
has three games scheduled at home in what is
being called the Husky Classic. We will let you
know who it goes.

The Cougars have two games scheduled this
week on Wednesday against Texas Southern
and next Saturday against state rival Eastern
Washington.
