Oakland Evens Series

The Seattle Mariners offense continues
to struggle. Wednesday night Oakland's
starter Joey Estes was pitching a perfect
game into the seventh inning. Oh by the
way this was his 5th start of the season
for Oakland.

Estes began the season in teiple-A. He
spent some of April on the injured list.
He made his first start May 11 which was
against the Mariners where he went five
innings giving up just two hits and one run on a homer.

In the seventh inning Estes gave up a double to JP Crawford for the first hit
of the game.  Julio walked with one
out then Ty France was hit by a pitch
with two outs. Estes had been lifted
after one out. Mitch Garver pinch hit
for Luke Raley with a lefty on the mound.
Also the bases loaded however Garver
grounded out.

Oakland was leading 2-0 at the time
and only one was earned. Oakland
hit a homer in the third inning and in
the fifth the defense caused the second
run. Daz Cameron son of former Mariner
Mike Cameron hit a single then Logan
Gilbert threw wild trying to pick Daz
off and he went on to the third. Cal
Raleigh had a passed ball allowing
Daz to score.

Logan Gilbert went seven innings giving
up five hits, the two runs though only
the homer was earned.  The Mariners
had opportunity again in the 8th inning
with Mitch Haniger and Dominic Canzone
each had a single with no outs however
the Mariners couldn't have another hit
to score.

In the 9th inning Julio Rodriguez had
his fifth home run of the season making
it 2-1. Three outs later the game for
Oakland.

Despite the fact they had a perfect
game thrown at them into the 7th
inning the Mariners still could have
won the game with a hit and better
defense.

The Mariners and Oakland play
Thursday afternoon. Bryan Woo
starts giving the Mariners a good
chance. Now we have to see if
the offense can come alive. Go M's.

Mariners Take Game One On Road Trip

The Seattle Mariners started a six
game road trip beginning with the
A's on Tuesday evening.

The Mariners looked like they could
score in the first inning loading the
bases with one out. The Mariners
as they have often on the season
couldn't bring a run home. Luke Raley struck out and Mitch Haniger pops out.

The third inning the Mariners ended
up three runs. JP Crawford and Josh
Rojas each had a hit. Julio hit a ground
out without  a score. Ty France hit a
double to score Crawford. Luke Raley
followed with another double to make
it 3-0.

Bottom of the 3rd former Mariner hits
a single to left field Raley drops. It was
a difficult catch. Makes the score 3-1.
Marines scored in the top of the 4th
when Josh Rojas singled in Dylan
Moore. It looked like the Mariners should
win at that point. Unfortunately they didn't
score again.

The A's not a good offensive team either
should be easy for the Mariners in the same manner as the Angels over the
weekend.

Oakland scored a second run in the sixth
inning on a ground out. George Kirby
pitched into the sixth inning giving up
two runs on the night left the game with
no outs. Austin Voth entered getting
three outs. Stanek pitched the seventh.
Trent Thornton struggled in the 8th
however no.runs scored.

The 9th inning was Andre Munoz. We
know even a good closer like Munoz
going to struggle sometimes. He gave
up a couple hits then threw a wild pitch
with two outs so Oakland another run.
Were the Mariners going to let Oakland
off the hook. Munoz had to leave the
game turning an ankle while covering
home plate while runner slid home.

Tayler Saucedo who has pitched in the
9th inning before was able to get the
final out. It was tight as a single could
have tied the game. Had that happened
Oakland may have won. Now we have
to.find if Munoz will be OK. Stay tuned.

The Texas Rangers lost to.the
Detroit Tigers at home 3-1. The
Mariners are now five and a half
games ahead of Rangers. The
Astros beat the Cardinals 8-5.
The Astros still seven games
behind the Mariners.

Logan Gilbert starts Wednesday for
the Mariners. We hope a quality start.
The signing of outfielder Victor Robles
the Mariners waived third baseman
Luis Urias who ended up being
outrighted to Tacoma. As a veteran
Luis could choose to become a
free agent. We will see what happens.
He did play for the Rainiers in a day
game. He had one hit driving in
three runs and scoring twice. Tacoma
won  15-6 over Reno. They play Reno
the rest of the week at home.

Mariners Take On Oakland Tuesday

Though the Mariners offense still
isn't great it seemed to have improved
to some degree when facing the Angels
in sweeping them.

The Mariners releasing bench coach
Brown during last week. Mitch Haniger
said he liked his approach however
when things are not going well change
hss to happen.

Speaking of Haniger his defense wasn't
particular good and doesn't help not
hitting at the same time. He seems
recently he has improved in both areas.

Servais the Mariners are still in the mode
of platooning which I am not a big fan of.
If a particular player is struggling at the
plate platooning makes sense however
if he is hitting well platooning doesn't
make sense unless you want to give
him one day. The Mariners had Monday
off after going through a stretch of playing every day.

Canzone seems to be the hitter playing
right field against righties. This meas
either Mitch Garver or Mitch Haniger
at dh. The decision should be who is
hitting the best at the time  and the
history of who they are facing. I would like to see Canzone stay in the game when they face a lefty later on depending on the situation. What I mean if Canzone's spot
is up with no one on base I would like to see him hit against the lefty. The score
should be taken in consideration as well.
The Mariners have runners on base I
could see pinch hitting for him with either Haniger or Garver. Also how Canzone has done in his previous at bats as well. I
believe a hitter like Canzone still needs to face some lefties.

Now we see how the offense goes
against the A's. We should expect
the Mariners win two out of three or
sweep them. The Mariners face the Royals
this coming weekend. A very good team
the measure of the offense will give
us a better idea whether improvement
or not. Go Mariners.

Mariners Make A Move Monday

The Mariners signed  a player that won't be high risk or bolster their offense
a lot. Outfielder Victor Robles who was releast by the Washington National
signed the minimum prorated by the
Mariners. Whether he will make a difference we will see.

The Mariners sent outfielder Jonatan
Clase back down to Tacoma. Clase has
had two opportunities with the Mariners
this year. Robles who has played 14
games with the Nationals with little
success. He is a right handed bat
which his success has been against
lefties for the most part.

Robles was in his seventh season
for the Nationals. His best season
was 2017 when he played his first
full season with Nationals. He hit
.255 in 155 games. Robles had
17 home runs and 65 runs batted in.
He had 28 stolen bases. Since that
year he hasn't played a lot except
in 2022 when  he played in 132 games.
Fobles hit only .224.

A pretty good hitter against lefties
he will probably will be in left field
when Luke Raley has a day off.
This could be a platoon situation
to some degree..Mitch Haniger
will be in right field platooning
with Dominic Canzone and having
some at bats at dh as well.

Robles like Clase we may see him
pinch run on occasion when he
doesn't start. Most likely going
in for Haniger late in the game.
Again how he does will decide his
fate.

Update on Luis Urias he has played
in seven games for the Tacoma Rainiers
since being sent down.  He is hitting .250
with one home run. His appearance
with the Mariners will depend on how he
does as well as Ryan Bliss. Hevonly has
one hit in 11 at bats but a small sample.
He is good in the clubhouse so hopefully
do well for the Mariners in the long run.

Whether stays will depend how he
does before Jorge Polanco returns
from the injured list. He will share
time with Dylan Moore at second
base. Most likely Dylan will play
third against lefties when giving
Josh Rojas a day off.

The series in Oakland the Mariners face
two righties in the first two games then
lefty JP Sears in game three. Bliss
and Robles may start that game.

The Mariners are 7-3 in their last ten
games playing Oakland they hope
to gain especially playing the Royals
in Kansas City over the weekend.
The Royals right now are in second
place behind Cleveland in AL central.
They are 4-6 in their last ten games
so could help.out the Mariners.

The schedule favors the Mariners
now in June. We just hope for
improvement in the offense.
Go Mariners!

Mariners Sweep Angels

The Seattle Mariners had their
first series sweep of the season
beating the Angels 5-1.

The game was closer than the score
indicates. The Mariners led when
Luke Raley hit a home run.in the 4th
putting the Mariners up 1-0. It stayed
that way unti the botton of the 8th.

Luke Raley was hit by a pitch with
the bases loaded scoring Josh Rojas
made it 2-0. On a 3-2 pitch Mitch
Garver hit a hard one to left field
scoring Julio, Ty France and Luke
Raley. There was a theme to it with
Luke Raley in the mix.

The top of the  9th Mike Baumann
took to the mound. If it were not  for
Mitch Garver's double Andre Munoz
would have pitched with a two run
lead. The Mariners have Monday
off with Munoz and the gang.

JP Crawford had his first throwing
error of the season going over to
Ty France at first. This allowed left
fielder Pillar to score.  The Angels
left two runners on the field after
getting the third out.

The Mariners have Monday off
going of to Oakland to play the
A's. George Kirby will.start the
series on Tuesday.

#6 top prospect 19 year old
Jonny Farmelo got off to a.
slow season. In his last ten
games he is batting .377 and
over all .286 at Modesto.

#7 prospect Tai Peete got over a
slow start is hitting .450 in his last ten.
#8 Tyler Locklear first baseman
recently was promoted to triple A
Tacoma. He has played six games
for  Tacoma batting .304.  We could
see Locklear in a major leagues before
the end of the season..

Mariner Shutout the Angels

The Seattle Mariners did what first
place teams do to a last place team
in the division. Saturday late afternoon
the beat the Los Angeles Angels 9-0.
Not sure the Mariners will sweep the
series however they have the opportunity
anyway.

The Mariners scored their first run when Julio drove in Ryan Bliss in the third. In fact Bliss  walked twice, had his first hit and scored  three times. In the 4th inning
Ryan Bliss walked again to load the bases
then JP Crawford hit grand salami.

In the sixth inning Luke Raley hit a home
run to make it 6-0. Julio singled to score
Ryan Bliss again. Cal Raleigh hits a double
scoring Dylan Moore and Julio making it
9-0. Julio eventually left the game since
they had a large lead.

The Mariners had nine hits on the day
with Julio having three of them. No
one else had more than one. The
Mariners hitters had only struck out
six timed.Sounds like a season low.

Gabe Speier was put on the injured
list after complaining to Servais
his left arm was hurting. An MRI
showed he has a turn rotator cuff
strain. The good news he is expected
to be lost two to three weeks. Collins
Snider was recalled from Tacoma.

Bryce Miller recorded the win going
six innings. He gave up three hits and
walked one while striking out nine.

The bullpen going three innings gave
up two hits but no walks. Luis Castillo is
scheduled to start Sunday.
