meeting in Texas. Seattle Mariners
general manager Justin Hollander
said the outfield is fairly solid.
Julio Rodriguez in center field
of course. Rady Arozarena who
they acquired at the trading deadline
in left and Victor Robles in right.
Robles did a fine job when Julio
was injured so he will play there
when needed. Hollander mentioned
Luke Raley as the fourth outfielder
when not playing first base.
The question is to improve the
infield. Primarily that is second
and third base. Right now the
Mariners are solid defensively
in the infield however the need
to improve offensively.
First base Raley playing against
righties and have someone to
play against lefties and when
he is in the outfield too. On the
roster right now is Tyler Locklear.
The Mariners may sign Justin
Turner if another team doesn't
snatch him up though he enjoyed
his time while coming over at the
deadline. Dylan Moore could play
some first however his value is
playing multiple positions. Another
choice could be Mitch Haniger if
he is on the team. Most likely he will
be playing some dh. We have the
question about Mitch Garver as well.
Will the Mariners dump either Haniger
or Garver. Most likely not both. In
Haniger they know they have and
hopefully be better after a poor season
in 2024. Garver right now would be the
backup catcher and play dh at times.
This would depend on how he hits.
The Mariners may explore picking up
another catcher but that isn't a priority.
Next time we will look at the bullpen.
The Mariners need to look at bolstering
it though we hope George Santos will
be healthy at the beginning of spring
trying and Matt Brash will return at some
point though June could be it. All depends
on his recovery continues this winter
and into Spring Training. Go M's.
