The Seattle Mariners offense has come alive in the last three
games and the pitching is very good to. The starters have been going at least
five and keeping them in games along with the bullpen doing a fine job.
On Tuesday Kyle Seager was player of the game hitting a home
run and a double in three hits and drove in four runs. He wasn’t alone in the
offense that had a total of nineteen hits. Lead-off hitter Jean Segura had four
hits in six at bats though he wasn’t one of the guys who scored the Mariners
ten runs. The final score was 10-4. Ben Gamel who came in for injured Nelson
Cruz had three hits along with Guillermo Heredia. Catcher Mike Zunino and
Robinson Cano each had two hits. One of Cano’s hits was a home run.
Ariel Miranda started the game for the Mariners going five
innings giving up three hits and two runs however he did walk four batters and
only striking out one batter. He recorded his fifth win against two losses.
Good ratio when the Mariners have twenty- four wins against twenty-nine losses.
This is especially true when in spring training he was not in the starting
rotation and was sent down to triple A.
James Paxton makes his return Wednesday night in Seattle
against the Colorado Rockies again. It will be nice if Paxton can go five or
six innings and keep the Mariners in the game. This being his first game back
he will be on a pitch count. The bullpen that did an excellent job in the last
three games should be ready to go.
After this short two game series at home against the Rockies
the Mariners will face the Tampa Bay Rays in a three game series over the
weekend. They will have Monday off and then play three against the Minnesota
Twins and Toronto Blue Jays. They will play the Twins again in Minnesota for
four games and then go to Texas to take on the Rangers for three before
returning home once again. If the Mariners can win each of the series at home
and then win three or four on the road in Minnesota and Texas they will be in
good shape at that point. Go M’s.
