The Mariners have another extra inning win and not surprising
a one run game once again. They are now 12-1 in extra innings and haven’t lost
a game with Edwin Diaz on the mound though he and Colome made it harder this
time.
The Dodgers took the lead in the first inning 1-0 and then
the Mariners scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning making it 4-1.
It stayed that way until the Dodgers had two home runs in the top of the eighth
inning off of Alex Colome. It was the first time he gave up any runs in about a
month. It would have been nice if the Mariners could have scored some runs
between the first and the eighth but they are offensively challenged right now.
I am sure everyone was hoping that Robinson Cano would
recharge the offense that has been stagnant since the all-star break but not so
far any way although he did have a couple hits in the game.
The Mariners still had a 4-3 lead when Edwin Diaz entered the
game to get another save however he gave up a home run himself to tie the
score. The Mariners were unable to score in the bottom of the ninth and the
Dodgers weren’t either in the top of the tenth.
This is when things got crazy that allowed the Mariners to
score. Mitch Haniger led off with a single then Cameron Maybin hit a roller but
was able to beat the throw to first to avoid a double play. Robinson Cano was
able to get on an infield single then Nelson Cruz walked to load the bases.
With Kyle Seager at the plate third baseman Justin Turner faked toward the bag
which caused reliever Dylan Floro to have a balk that Maybin in to give the
Mariners the win; an odd way to win the game for sure however the Mariners will
take it.
