Mariners Lose Series

The Seattle Mariners continue to struggle in May losing the final game and series to the Texas Rangers 8-7. The Mariners have only won six games this month.

This game was a tough loss because they should have won the game but because of three errors by relief pitchers along with a mental error cost them three runs at least. We could say one of the relief pitcher's error was a mental one as well since he shouldn't have thrown the ball to first base after bobbling the ball. There was no way he was getting the runner at first base, and the throw allowed the runner to go to third.

The only positive thing coming out of the game was the Mariners continued to fight though in the 9th inning they were unable to tie or win the game with two runners on base. Kyle Seager hit a grounder to second to end the game.

Again it was a frustrating game because it was a  game they should have won. Not a game they could have won if they had made a hit in the 9th inning. Also, the Rangers were able to get a hit when counted in the top of the 9th inning to put the Rangers ahead.

I guess there was another positive thing coming out of the game Mallex Smith had two more hits. He seems to have righted the wrong track he had been on. We hope he continues to get better and now we have to see Mitch Haniger do better. He did have a home run that put the Mariners ahead though briefly.

Now the Mariners take on the Los Angeles Angels in a four-game series in Seattle. The Angels are a beatable team so hopefully, the Mariners can take three out of the four games.  Go M's.
