Seahawks Make It 5-0

For most of Sunday night there was doubt
the Seattle Seahawks would win their fifth
straight game to open up the 2020 season.

The Minnesota Vikings took the first drive
of the game for a touchdown taking over
eight minutes off the clock. Much of it was
by running the ball against the Seahawks.
Dalvin Cook scored the touchdown for the
Vikings. He had a good night running the
ball when he was hurt.

The Seahawks were not able to get a drive
going in their first opportunity to have the
ball so had to give it right back to the Vikings.

The Vikings ended up kicking two field goals
in the second quarter making the score 13-0
at half time. The question was how can the
Seahawks get back into the game in the second
half.

We know the history of the Seahawks, since
Russell Wilson has been the quarterback they
often are a second half team. Thought they have
gotten off to good starts in their previous four
games. Well it turned out that way.

The Seahawks were able to score three touchdowns
in the third quarter. Tight end Will Dissly scored
the first touchdown followed by DK Metcalf.
KJ Wright immediately intercepted a pass followed
by a long run of 29 yards by Chris Carson making
it 21-13.

The Seahawks defense for the most part couldn't
stop the Vikings on the day. The Vikings were able
to score twice two touchdowns to Adam Thielen
to take the lead 26-21.

The Vikings had 83 plays on the night compared
to 52 for the Seahawks. They had the ball almost
twice as long to. The Vikings had it just under 40
minutes while the Seahawks just over 20.

The Vikings went for a first down on their last
possession of the game under two minutes with
less than a yard to go. Had they kicked a field
goal the Vikings would have won the game. It
was raining for most of the night so a wet field
was behind their decision to go for it.

The Seahawks though they were not able to stop
the Vikings for most of the night were able to and
the ball turned back over to them to make one final
attempt to win the  game which they did.

DK Metcalf made a couple important catches including
the winning touchdown on the last play of the game.
He had a drop pass as well in the last series. The officials
had to do a replay to be sure it wasn't caught. The last
play of the game on fourth down Russell Wilson was
able to find Metcalf in the end zone once again  The
time run out on the clock. Seahawks 27 Vikings 26.

The LA Rams are still in the hunt as they beat Washington
30-10. The feel good story of this game was the return
of quarterback Alex Smith after being out for over two
years.

A similar story to Smith's injury happened on the day
as well where Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott broke
his ankle. He could be out as long as Smith as well.

The Arizona Cardinals were able to come back to
beat the New York Jets at the same score as the
Rams victory after losing two straight games.

The San Francisco 49ers didn't have the same
luck as the Seahawks, Rams, or Cardinals. Having
injuries making hard for them to win they lost to
the Miami Dolphins 43-17.

The Seahawks now go for their bye week so several
players will be able to recoup from injuries. I will
update you on Wednesday.  The Seahawks take
on the Arizona Cardinals on the road on October
25 followed by a home game against the 49ers.
