Mariners Different Team Same Results

Friday night the Seattle Mariners 

faced the Minnesota Twins at

home. The results turned out

the same.

Going late into the game it

was another outstanding 

pitching match up. Bryan

Woo was able to go into

the seventh. He surrendered

his third run of the game so

Matt Brash came in with

two outs and got the third

out he didn't return in the

eighth.

The bottom of the 8th Cal

Raleigh hit is 21st home

run of the season  to put

the Mariners up 6-3. It

looked like  a sure win.

Andre Munoz came in the

gsme so we thought here

we go. Unfortunately for

the first time of the season

he was hit for more than

one in a game. The Twins

scored two runs to come

within one run. Munoz

still had the chance with

two outs to save however

gave up a solo home run.

The Mariners weren't able 

to score in the bottom of the

ninth. 

Here is the tenth. Same as

Thursday night the Mariners

were touched for several

runs. The Twins hit a two-run

homer with the runner on base

in extra innings. The Twins 

loaded the bases with two.

The Mariners had a chance 

if they could get that last out.

The hitter for the Twins hit

the ball up the middle hard

however Dylan Moore couldn't

field the play cleanly so two

more runs were scored. Again

added another two runs. Final

Twins 12 Mariners 6

Once in a great moon Munoz

will be hit like on Friday night.

The Mariners show they need

a reliever who can pitch in

extra innings. This was the

first gsme Matt Bray had 

pitched in two straight games.

He likely won't pitch Saturday

of Sunday. 

The Mariners need to make a

trade or find a reliable reliever

from the minor leagues. Also

another beat or two would be

good idea. Luke Raley is expected

to do a rehab assignment with

Tacoma.  Cole Young made two

plate appearances before being

taken out. Talk online is he will

be called up to the Mariners and

it makes sense. Most likely Leo

Rivas will be sent down. He hasn't

played a lot lately.

In Tacoma's game Harry Ford was

at dh instead of catching. He had

three hits and we could see him

soon and maybe this weekend.

Trent Thorton made a rehab assignment for the Rainiers too.

We could see him back in the

bullpen too. Though he hasn't

had a great season before going

on the injured list he would be

an added plus though not the

total answer. He went one inning

and struck out too. Troy Taylor 

who is trying to make his way

back finished the game for the

Rainiers going one inning walking

one and striking out three.

We will see whether Young and

Ford be up. Saturday game is

late afternoon as it is on Fox TV.

Mariners Blasted In Extra Inning

Emerson Hancock pitched well

for five innings giving up no

runs. In the sixth inning he

walked a couple batters. He

did get one out in the process.

The Washington Nationals again

went with an all left handed

hitting lineup so they brought

in Gabe Speier the lefty however

he wasn't able to hold it and

gave up a double scoring two 

runs.

The Mariners bottom of batting

order came through tying the

game in the seventh. Andre Munoz

made appearance in the ninth

inning with tie score and did

his usual good deed. The best

reliever in baseball right now.

Collin Snider pitched the 10th

and got lit up. He gave up

seven runs including a three

run homer and that was the

ball game. The Mariners did

score a single run in the bottom

of the 10th. Nationals 9-3 win.

Logan Gilbert made his first

rehab assignment going a

couple innings for the Tacoma

Rainiers. How many he has

we will see.

The Mariners now take on the

Minnesota Twins over the 

weekend. Bryan Woo starts

for the Mariners who is having

Mariners What Day Makes A Difference

On Tuesday the Mariners took care

of the Nationals easily.

Wednesday the Nationals took

care of the Mariners winning  9-0.

George Kirby made his second

appearance of the season.

He went five innings giving up six runs including three solo  home runs.

Also walked two and struck out

four.  We do hope he turns things

around in his next start.

Mariners only had five hits with

the no runs. We hope Thursday

night the Mariners can win

the series. The Mariners will

be taking on the Minnesota

Twins over the weekend. The

Twins are tied with Cleveland

in second place in the American

League Central.They haven't

played well on the road   See

More Help For The Mariners

Logan Gilbert is expected to go on

rehab assignment real soon and

Bryce Miller expected back as well.

The Mariners are expected to stay

with a five man rotation. Though

he belongs Logan Evans will likely

go back to Tacoma. Emerson

Hancock I believe should go to the

bullpen for long relief. He could

come in for any of the starters

early if they get in trouble or

at least go two innings or longer.

This would help out the other

seven in the bullpen and not

continue bringing up relievers

from Tacoma.

The Mariners need help in the

in the infield. News is Like Raley

is expected to go on rehab assign-ment next week. Be interesting to

see whose spot he take. He can

play some outfield as well as 

first base. The dh spot is filled

right now. 

Cole Young continues hitting

well at Tacoma so he should

come up in June. This would

put Dylan Moore in better place

moving around.  He played

well Tuesday however be good

to give him a day or two on the

bench when he isn't hitting as

well and use him off the bench.

Whose spot would Young take?

I like to see Leo Rivas stick

however they aren't playing him 

much. Stay tuned to let you know

how other prospects are doing.

Evans Takes Down Nationals

Tuesday night the Mariners started

rookie pitcher Logan Evans against

Washington Nationals. He had to 

face all left handed bats which

doesn't happen. Evans made it

look easy going eight innings.

The longest game he has pitched

as a professional pitcher. Evans

never had pitched seven innings

before and he threw 88. He could

have gone out for the ninth.

The Mariners started out scoring

three runs in the first inning with

Julio and Cal hitting back home

runs. The only blemish Evans had

was giving up a home run in the

fourth inning. 

Cal had another solo home run

in the fifth inning. We were hoping

he would hit three on the night

however didn't happen. The M's

scored three more in the sixth

and two in the eighth.

Julio and Dylan Moore had three

hits on the night while Cal and

Ben Williamson had two. Evans 

gave up four hits while walking

one and striking out four. He 

is now 3-1 on the season.

Seahawks Defensive Backs

Most of the time the Seahawks

will go with five defensive backs.

This means three defensive lineman

and three linebackers most of the

time.

Devon Witherspoon going into

his third season and the best

defensive back is listed at

nickel back however we will

see him all over the field.

It will all come down to a

running or passing play.

Damarion Williams is listed

as the backup at nickel back.

Won't see him in for Witherspoon

very often except for a breather.

If he is in Witherspoon will likely

be in at the same time.

Josh Jobe is listed as the starter

at left cornerback. Last season

he played ten games for the

Seahawks where he had 37 tackles

and one interception. The Seahawks

resigned him during the offseason.

Nehemiah Pritchett a fifth round

pick last season is his backup. 

He to played in ten games last

season.

Riq Woolen a fifth round in 2022

is the right cornerback for the

time being. He had an outstanding

season as a rookie however he

has slumped the last two years.

For him to continue on the team

he will have to play more like

his rookie season. 

Shemar Jean-Charles was signed

during the offseason by the

Seahawks. Last season he played

nine games for the New Orleans

Saints. He started last season

on the Saints practice squad.

He is listed as Woolen's backup.

Julian Love is the starter at

strong safety. This will be his

third season in Seattle. Last

season he had 109 tackles

with two forced fumbles and

three interceptions. Newcomer

and number two round draft

pick Nick Emmanwori  is listed

as his backup. Last season the

Seahawks sometimes went with

three safeties in the game at 

the same time so we could see

both in the game together.

Coby Bryant a fourth round pick

in 2022 a former cornerback

is the free safety. He played

every game last season for

the Seahawks. Bryant had 

73 tackles with one forced 

fumble and three interceptions.

If the Seahawks did go with

three safeties he could move

over to the traditional cornerback

spot or the nickel. 

Jerrick Reed ll a sixth round pick

in 2023 is Coby's backup. He

missed much of last season 

with an injury. Was able to

return for the last five games.

We wish him a healthy 2025

season.

returns as punter as does field

goal kicker and Chris Stoll as 

long snapper.

Rookie Tory Horton is listed as

punt returner and Kenny McIntosh

as kick off returner. Both could

change depending whether they

both make the team or not.

Houston Astros Walkoff

The Mariners were not able to

beat the Houston Astros on

Sunday afternoon to win the 

road game so lost the series.

Good thing they took six of

ten on this road trip. Most of 

the time we will take it.

The Astros hit a walk off home

run in the bottom of the ninth.

Andre Munoz didn't pitch the

 ninth inning because of the 

tie. My opinion the Mariners 

do not have a reliever who

could pitch in this circumstance

unless putting Matt Brash in.

No one else has shown they can

do well in tge ninth inning. 

Now the Mariners come back home.

The Mariners have Monday off 

and take on thr Washington Nationals.

It is interesting thst they don't play

on a holiday. Go M's.
