The Mariners had a group of pitchers including Marco Gonzales and Taijuan Walker
throwing on Saturday. Walker looked good without any signs of his injury from last year.
The Mariners signed two more veteran players into the fold. Starting pitcher Cody
Anderson most recently of the Cleveland Indians and outfielder Collin Cowgill.
He has been playing in the minor leagues the last few years. Along with Carlos
Gonzales they are hoping for veteran leadership among a young group of outfielders.
Hard to know whether either one will make the Mariner roster when the season begins.
It will depend on them well as who is ready to make the jump to the major leagues on
a full-time basis.
In other local sports the Washington Huskies men's basketball team collapsed again the second half after having a 12 point lead early on in the second half. The Huskies were unable make baskets
down the stretch. Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels led the Huskies each with 15 points losing
67-57 to the UCLA Bruins in LA.
The Washington State Cougars lost on the road in LA as well to the USC Trojans 70-51. The Gonzaga Bulldogs continued their winning ways beating Pepperdine down in the LA area as well 89-77.
We hope for the best for the Huskies, Cougars, and Bulldogs down the stretch.
